Mechanorn – 34

Good bye Winter Mechanorn!

winter15-foshSorry for the delay! It’s finally time to say goodbye to all the winter Mechanorn shows! Out of the three I will miss Bubuki Buranki and Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans, but thankfully both of them are getting second seasons in the future so I’m super happy about that!

Lol, there’s absolutely no love for heavy object, and that’s the only show I’m watching that’s on mechanorn. (I’m only watching it for completionist’s sake since I’m already more than half way through)

Yeah I found HO to be quite dull and wasn’t a fan of the x3 episode arcs! Some of them could have been shorter and with some minor changes here and there maybe I would have loved it a bit more.

If I could change HO id add more team members to the team at the start of the series that way it’s not always Havia and Qwen saving the day! Also would it kill them to give Milinda some personality? IDK make her more ALIVE? Yeah I get it she was “created” for one purpose to fight and pilot an Object, but still come on.

    • IreneSharda says:

Heavy Object just got to be a bit of a drudgery after a while. It took quite a bit to get going and then by the time it really got interesting, it was over. There ARE things that I liked about the series. I wouldn’t have started with it if there weren’t some good parts. It’s just that you have to slog through to get to them.

Heavy Object 21 – 24: Man, I can’t believe my “simply fun” series is actually over. Despite its plot not being particularly strong, I thoroughly enjoyed Heavy Object from start to finish. The mecha battles were good but the best part of show is thanks to the characters who never made me feel anything was dull. Especially the hilarious banter between the leads Qwenthur and Havia and sheer presence of their sadistic commander Frolaytia. Not to mention it gets an award for the most “creative” names I’ve ever come across (Ex: Sladder Honeysuckle; Prizewell City Slicker).

Despite the difference in story structure, there’s no denying Heavy Object and Index/Railgun share the same author. Practically anything Qwenthur gets involved in has some girl at his feet when the conflict is resolved, whether he’s aware or not. His strategic prowess for dealing with enemies (humans and Objects alike) is almost god-like. I can honestly say he’s on par with Arslan Senki’s Narsus.

Side note: Word is the final two episodes are original material. Interesting way of making a send-off and it could mean there’s more to come at a later date.

IDK man we have vastly different ideas of “fun” especially with Heavy Object and everyone here knows i’m a huge mecha fan! I honestly don’t know why I found it dull maybe its the fact that Qwen and Havia always win with the use of C4 every other episode or the fact that Milinda has 0 personality what so ever? I would trade her as a main object pilot for the Ohoho LOLi in a heartbeat because she was way more entertaining!

Except Railgun makes you feel for the characters while Heavy Object for me personally made me feel nothing! If Qwen, Havia and Milinda died in the final id probably cheer…

Well anyone can create a story/arc for HO it’s easy! All you gotta do is make up a silly villain name, toss in a random ass object, Qwen and Havia argue about how military life isn’t fair, use C4 in some dumb way to blow up the object while Milinda has the final kill shot and there you go! Your very own arc in HO! CONGRATS!

Sorry if i’m being harsh on HO I just found it to be work to get through weekly on these posts LOL

      • BlackBriar says:

Yeah, you’re being real harsh. Unnecessarily so. I never once felt it was work watching.

        • Foshizzel says:

Well blogging it and covering it weekly got to be a bit much lol I don’t think even Irene liked it all that much.

          • skylion says:

I don’t think the people that made it liked it that much; that certainly shows, doesn’t it?

        • skylion says:

We’ll make sure to check in on you’re thin skin the next time we have an opinion…

    • IreneSharda says:

If there’s more, I’m not sure I could take it. I don’t think I would put Narsus and Qwenthur in the same circles, especially considering what a renaissance man Narsus is ( I mean he’s good at everything except art), while Qwen’s expertise seems to be related to most engineering. He’s closer to Scotty or someone like that.

Well, I have to say that I’m not sorry to see HO go, but it was fun at times.

Bubuki Buranki 09 – 12: Not much to think of it at first but I gradually began to like Bubuki Buranki as it went on. A big plus was making the lead Azuma easier to tolerate because I must confess that he was really grating as a kid seeing him so spineless and pathetic. Definitely a relief to have that aspect done away with.

Another point was making story go from a black and white to a gray area scenario through Reoko’s backstory of which I found myself sympathizing with her, especially when she dealt with bastards that would even kill babies to stamp out Bubuki users. The unique thing about such characters is that they seem evil but are not based on perspective. They’re victims of circumstances.

The last two episodes were fast paced and therefore difficult to understand but I managed to get it somewhat. Now that major events have come to pass like Treasure Island now on Earth and Azuma’s sister Kaoruko joining in, I’m fairly eager to see what happens next.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ooooh you aren’t alone there! I didn’t care for Azuma much either when you compare him to other characters yeah he is the worst “leader” id rather have that fat team USA guy leading the main team or his sister? Yeah can we swap Azuma for Kaoruko next season?

I loved Reoko! She was by far the best character and yeah they did a wonderful job making you feel for her instead of making her come off as being evil for the sake of being evil even though she did murder people to climb her way to the top, but hey! She really isn’t fully to blame…thanks Azuma’s mom…

Same were all waiting to see what Kaoruko does next season and why she doesn’t help her brother or mother out is also confusing! Maybe she will become the new top villain next time? That might be interesting.

      • BlackBriar says:

id rather have that fat team USA guy leading the main team

I’d disagree and keep Azuma if I had to make a choice between the two. The fat guy is irritatingly obnoxious. It makes me cringe just looking at and listening to him.

    • IreneSharda says:

I really enjoyed Reoko and her group, probably more than the main team. I like how they have been fleshing everybody out. It will be interesting to finally see Kaoruko and her whole story.
