Luck & Logic – 04
Chloe never skips leg day.
Last week things followed Yurine having problems following orders, but this week were shifting gears kind of towards Chloe with her taking center stage and showing off her detective skills? Wait I thought she was the super dumb lucky character? I know sounds crazy…
————————————
Detective Chloe
Yeah like I said at the start who would have guessed that Chloe had CSI levels of detective skills? Yeah this episode shows us a very surprising side of her character; however it felt kind of strange to reveal that about her now, especially when the original setup for her character was dumber than rocks or does that only apply to the school related side of things? Whatever the case I suppose one of the girls just HAD to be the detective type. So what are Chloe and the others searching for anyway? In case you forgot last week ended with the reveal of Lucifer who hasn’t been established as being fully evil or good? I don’t know where he stands, but it looks like Athena didn’t tell anyone about meeting him and with him having a 9.8 level I guess the ALCA wants to capture him before he can do any real damage. So I wonder will Olga become his partner or Yukari? I mean if he really is a good character after all right? Still it would be kinda funny to see a guy x guy magical fusion cause why not? Either way I have a feeling that Lucifer’s appearance is obviously hinting at a much larger story and I wonder if that means the humans will have to travel to the god’s world to save it? I would love to see that if we get that far! Because right now it’s character story of the week.
More Chloe
There’s something magical about blond hair and red ribbons.
We did learn a little bit about Chloe at the start of the episode which showed us a short haired version along with Yurine fighting a strange spider monster and she also was wearing a green outfit instead of her current pink outfit? I wonder who was her first partner back in the day? I would probably guess something fro Asian mythology? She did have a dragon like appearance sorta similar to Shenron from DBZ. Anyway back to Chloe at the time she was a rookie and eventually placed on Yurine’s team; however just like her former leader Chloe also has a problem obeying orders too? Seriously what is with every character thinking they are above the people in charge? Is that a requirement for being a part of this ALCA branch? I swear if Yukari and Mana are both like that too I will laugh! Oh one more thing to add why the hell was Yurine all over Chloe for doing the same thing she did last week?! Did Yurine forget she wasn’t the leader again? I mean sure Chloe running into the fight early did leave Yoshichka injured so I guess Yurine had to open Chloe’s eyes to her own mistakes? Still I would think Veronica would be the one to do the screaming instead. Thankfully at the end of the day the two of them are now friends and getting along! So who’s story is next? Mana? Yukari? Athena? Olga? Background character number three?! At this point they might as well give Nemesis her own damn episode.
Extra Logic
End Thoughts
While I love Chloe’s character I will say this episode was kind of lame! Like Yurine’s constant bitching and complaining about EVERYTHING ALCA related is starting to bother me, but maybe that is just how she always acts? I can see why she sucked at being the old leader; however we might as well say the same about Yoshichika’s leadership skills since he hasn’t really shown us much besides giving Mana time to shine in the VR mission room? So yeah as you can tell I really really don’t care for Yurine and I probably never will, but aside from her damn problems problems I’m a bit more curious about Lucifer and Athena’s stories right now instead of dealing with the main team. So is Mana next? Probably and what about Olga are we going to see why he thinks he’s some big shot? I wouldn’t be shocked if he saw that old video of Yoshichika back in the day and that pushed a younger Olga to become a Logicalist? Then again you sorta have to be “special” to choose career with the ALCA since the job basically chooses you!

Honestly, I couldn’t stand Chloe this episode, but more than that, I couldn’t stand how they totally overlooked how Chloe’s actions got Yoshichika hurt (though I’d say that, overall, this episode had too much going on to be limited to just a single episode); despite claiming otherwise, she didn’t look remotely sorry for it.
I actually understand Tamaki getting upset with her (and no, I’m not taking her side just because I’m biased for her thanks to Risa Taneda), because Chloe’s attitude just screamed that she thought that she had better decision-making than the others, even if the show wasn’t trying to make that point.
It’d be one thing if this was supposed to be Tamaki’s development episode where she learns that one simply shouldn’t blindly follow orders like a robot, but the episode did not seem structured like that was the message.
It felt like it was trying to go for Tama and C being in conflict due to opposing work ethics, and then coming to accept one another for who they were. Problem is, they didn’t include them acknowledging their own flaws and seeing the other’s merits, so it just ended up feeling shallow.
Last episode, I was confused at the direction, where Tamaki, seemingly upset with Yoshichika being selected as leader, ending up accepting him simply because she found a common point (neither ever had to deal with killing people, so when the time came where it had to be done, neither were prepared), but I came out of it happy that she now has come to respect him (as shown in this episode). Episode 4, on the other hand, just made me annoyed.
P.S. I am so sorry for the overly-long comment, especially with it pretty much being a rant.
P.S.S. Just noticed:
I have a comrade!

Sounds like she’s your favorite. Risa Taneda is one among many good female seiyuus out there.
Hey, don’t sweat it. This is nothing new. Metanorn is known for people posting walls of text disguised as comments. Some are notorious. We’re used to that. 😉
Well, that’s one in Fosh’s genre faction. 😛

In just about 2 years, she’s already become one of my top 5 favorite female seiyuu, alongside Yoko Hikasa, Ai Kayano, Shizuka Ito, and Saori Hayami. So yeah, I guess you could say that as far voice cast is concerned, Taneda is the only one of my favorites that has a major part in this show.
That being said, even if he isn’t one of my top favorite male seiyuu (that would be Hiro Shimono, KENN, Yuuki Kaji, and Koki Uchiyama), Kensho Ono is one of many seiyuu that have been making a good name for himself with me as of late (alongside Ryota Ohsaka, Nobunaga Shimazaki, Asami Seto, and Kiyono Yasuno), so that’s a plus right there.

My favorite new actress is easily Ari Ozawa!

Funny I didn’t care at all for Tamaki this week and yeah I totally know why she got mad at Chloe because Yohichika got hurt, but at the same time last week Tamaki was just as guilty of disobeying orders to kill that demon chick last week so I fail to see why she had to get mad at Chloe and imo it’s really not her place.
Right the whole character side of Luck and Logic is a bit messy with how things are progressing! It has been hard figuring out what episode is for which character…
P.S. no problem!
P.S.S HELL YA! We need more mecha lovers <3 <3 we do weekly well sometimes weekly posts on all things mecha with MechaNorn it's an audio style post so you can just listen~ hi5~

So that type is on the brink of extinction? Who’s responsible? Should they finish the job or not? Decision, decisions…. 😛

Mechs haven’t been well received on Metanorn usually people pass on them especially if its Gundam related and from my experience most people would rather watch rom-com instead of giant robots.

Hmmmm… In the choice between those two, I’d sooner watch a mech anime than a rom-com.

A Chloe centered entry this time around and the title “Freedom or Restraint” adequately represents the contrast of her and Yurine’s personality and each one’s way of carrying themselves. It’s conflicting because they both have aspects in their views that can be seen as right but at the same time, wrong depending on the situation.
Chloe is a bit too loose and being a busybody is bound to come back and bite. I can better tolerate her lone wolf bit if she was actually alone but it’s not a good habit to have if you’re supposed to be a team player. Like what happened with Yoshichika, the end result will leave the others needlessly vulnerable.
So we have Athena, Valkyrie, Venus, Lucifer etc… I really wonder how many lores the series intends to dip into.

Right both are strong minded characters who follow what they think is right even if it means disobeying orders or getting others on your team injured which is dumb in my book, but I should come to expect such things when there is a military ranking type of system in play.
Well you can say the same about Yurine she doesn’t seem to get along with anyone at least for me.
Probably all the lore characters at least the known ones! I keep waiting for the god of war to pop in this series and I bet hes the one at war with earth sending all the monsters over to take it over or something.

Put me down for Nemesis having her own episode.
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
Then for that to happen, the focus would have to be on her partner, Veronica.

I’m okay with that, too. Veronica looks pretty interesting.

Unfortunately, this show just feels rudderless. You can’t have Chloe be the moron muscle of the crew one episode, and then make her be super-solo-investigator two episodes later and not have everyone go “wait, what?”
It’s like the show kind of knows what it’s trying to do, but it’s just not good at all at conveying that, or being coherent about it. I mean, you can kind of reconcile these two things if you step back work on it, but you shouldn’t really have to with something so basic. And painting characters in such broad strokes just feels cartoonish: Yurine doesn’t want to kill anyone. Chloe is all action, no thought.
And on top of that, they ham-fisted the Yoshichika / Athena issue, in that they made Yoshichika look like an oblivious idiot who never pays attention. As opposed to the other time with Olga, where he wouldn’t drop it, this time he never even mentions that Athena’s completely out of it (the 75% logic, versus their previous 95%).
I like a lot of DogaKobo shows. But they’re just not getting it done on this show.

…I wonder if they are struggling from too much control on the part of the licencors? This being based on a card game property….

Yeah I don’t understand the direction when it comes to the characters I think its dumb how everyone has their type plus added “issues with rules” it just doesn’t make it interesting if all the characters end up being that way! I would have expected Chloe out of all of them to be the one who does her own thing vs EVERYONE on the team! Hell even Athena shows she breaks the rules.
True this is probably another quick paycheck for DogaKobo as sad as it is to say…
