This week brings us a bit of fun with Yui and Rito squished together really close on a train because Yui is a damn Rito magnet! Well so are the other girls, but throw in a cat paw “toy” and you have yourself a super hilarious moment or possibly an embarrassing moment for her? Either way I thought it was a funny one shot from the manga that takes place around chapter 44.5? I guess after following this anime for so long I am starting to understand how most episodes of Darkness flow. It seems like most episodes throw in some really over the top ecchi moment from one of their one shot chapters which usually have at least 22 pages vs a full “story” chapter with around 39 to 44 pages, but the real core of the episode followed Mikan inviting Mea over for dinner to teach her how to cook and unfortunately she decided to use weapon hair mode to slice and dice everything around her! Even the clothes off Momo, Nana and Rito also poor Mikan got scared thanks to Rito for shoving his crotch into her face or does it even surprise her anymore? Probably not…

It’s renovation time again for Darling-kun. And even though they think the new pool and bath area is for the recognition of Suu as another monster girl to live with the menagerie, it’s really for someone else: Mero the Mermaid. Smith can’t even “see” slimes (pulling another one of those Sgt. Schultz routines). But a polite yet inquisitive pretty mermaid is just who Cerea and Miia don’t want to see, as all they think is that Mero is another rival for them, especially because she keeps asking if any of the others is dating Darling. After some worrying about it, they finally learn that Mero isn’t interested in marrying Darling (or Danna-sama, as she calls him, which sure doesn’t put the others at ease), she’s more interested in the siren song of tragic romance, a la The Little Mermaid. That doesn’t mean affairs are out of the question, tho…

Today, another bugaboo of RPG’s – all that crap you have in your bags. Extra armor, old items, and piles of potions. And not having enough cash, because you need to get that special item. Once again, it was fun to see them poking fun at another aspect of RPGs, one that’s pretty universal, and pretty frustrating, with humor, such as wondering why the mage’s ‘armor’ was worth more than the rest of them. And the double kicker at the end: First, not having the potions that you never ever used, at the time you really need it. And then getting the loot you already had spent a lot of cash and effort for. So frustrating!

So they tricked us, and Hayato as well. That’s not Ui’s sister that showed up, it’s her mom. Her teeny tiny mom. And mom is the one that has been urging Ui to get together with Hayato, based on the wishes of his mother. And because this show is pretty much a normal hentai, without going all the way, we get sexy hijinks with mom, including ‘trying him out’ a little in the bath. But she’s also pushing Ui and Hayato together, moving all of Ui’s stuff out of her apartment into Hayato’s. It’s not all bad, tho, as they get to know each other better in the kitchen also. Ui gets a little jealous of her mother’s forwardness and closeness to Hayato, tho, and that pushes her to work on getting closer to Hayato as well. I did think the ending was a lot better this time, with Ui and Hayato much more clearly equally initiating their intimacy (although tickling your girlfriend is a good way to get the crap beat out of you if you’re not careful). And maybe this would have been the time they get much closer… if mom hadn’t made a ruckus.

Bikini: This is apropos of nothing. A few years ago I was in a low level sit down game of Dungeons & Dragons. I had to miss one week of the game. But the party had to do this exact same thing. Sell stuff. We had little of it too, cause the game was billed as “Don’t expect a Monty Haul of Treasure”. But they texted me asking if it was OK to loot my character sheet for stuff. I had misspelled the word “halberd”..or my writing is just so terrible that they thought I had 5 half breads..or that at the extreme of guessing…Shell beards. Needless to say a weapon is worth more than bread or hair….

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou – 05: With Mero as the official and Suu as the unofficial additions, that’s 5 monster girls under one roof, and some are not of the petite size. Not including the spider girl soon on her way to joining the group.
Every time a new girl comes, the house undergoes a remodeling to accommodate each individual. Obviously, Mero’s room is the most altering, considering she needs a huge body of water to maintain herself. How many renovations can it endure before some part of its structure eventually gives away? The way things are going, they might need the house enlarging magic Issei Hyoudou got in High School DxD.

To-Love-Ru: Some of you may be aware that Haruna’s reduced presence was due to Yabuki Kentaro’s messy divorce, especially since Haruna was based on his ex-wife (a terrible person by all accounts) and said wife claimed money rights on Haruna.
Hopefully Yabuki’s new marriage goes better than his first.

I wish there was more Yui Kotegawa in TLR-Darkness. For whatever reason, I find her the most compelling and interesting character, far more than Mea, whose entire character seems defined by psychotic personality breaks, and who consequently doesn’t actually have a character.
I’m also starting to think that maybe I’ll go back and check out the first two seasons, since Lala is kind of growing on me. Unfortunately, she doesn’t really get to do anything in Darkness. She’s just there as a given: She will marry Rito, and the whole rest of the setup is to see what happens with everyone else.
And really? You get Celine a cat paw sex aid? That’s just another case of the scenario writing the characters.

hmmm i dont know..i dont find yui all that compelling because the show feels the need to always play up her “straight man” antics rather than show us the more interesting side of her. We know there is something that lurks underneath yui and id like to see more of her but whatever depth can be explored of yui is sidelined to make her more tsundere and it spoils the experience. In all honesty, all the to-love-ru girls are boring save for mikan and yami

To me, there are three groups of girls in TLR-Darkness. There’s the “Already in Momo’s plan” girls, including Momo, Lala, Run, Murasame. There are the “No chance, not interested” girls, like Mikan, Tearju, Mio and Risa. And then there are the “Maybe”. Of the maybe’s, the show’s just not sophisticated enough to not count Yami, Mea, Nana, Haruna, and Nemesis as inevitably going to be captured by Momo’s Harem Plan, and thus be in the first group.
That basically leaves Yui as the only one that’s kind of on the fence. Now, maybe everyone else sees Yui as the same way, but to me there’s something about her character that will always resist the idea, especially the non-monogamous nature of Momo’s plan, no matter how much she may be infatuated or even in love with Rito. That’s what makes me interested in her.
To me, Yami’s a possibly interesting character… but not in this show. We’ve seen that this show has relegated her to an empty threat. “You’re treading on dangerous ground, Yuuki Rito!” again and again.

I ship Mikan x Yami. There have been times when Mikan’s reaction towards Yami seems to be more than just friendship. She seems to really like her. While Yami’s threats towards Rito have become empty, unlike Yui she doesn’t seem to be fighting an attraction towards him. Plus, Mikan seems to be the only one Yami is close to.
Or maybe Yami is part of Mikan’s harem. With Mikan thinking she should try to make friends with Mea as Yami’s sister, maybe Mea would be another harem member. And with Nana being friends with Mea, there’s another possible girl for Mikan’s harem.

hahaha truuuueeeee; adn i agree about your analyze of yui as she is one of the only girls who resists the idea of the harem plan, most likely due to her strong opinion on what love should be like. And as for Mikan, ive always got the vibe that the show likes to flirt with the idea of an incestuous attraction from mikan to rito (because it’s to-love ru so of course it would) but it never really makes mikan out to be the sister who has romantic feelings for her brother. She just misses being able to have the house with just him and her sometimes without all the racket and nonsense

Out of the normal humans I like Yui Kotegawa a lot! She is far more fun than lame Haruna who is just boring…
The first two seasons of ToLoveRu are decent and show more Lala, but it’s more of the same Rito being Rito! As far as the romance goes I guess things work better since there is no Momo setting up the harem.
