Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders S2 – 22
Return of the Cherry
MAN, things are heating up! And yet I find it very hard to pry myself away from playing Sengoku Basara 4 long enough to do anything else. It’s even hard to remember that oh yeah, my body needs FOOD to survive and I should probably stop playing and stuff something in my mouth. Anyways, I’ll try to talk about Jojo before the pangs of withdrawal kick in and I start having vivid hallucinations.
Holy Game of Thrones, almost all the main cast is dead now! I wasn’t phased when Avdol and Iggy died because I never really cared about them to begin with. Killing off Joseph and Kakyoin? Now that’s crossing the line! If I try, I can mentally resolve Joseph dying because he’s pretty darn old and he already had an entire season dedicated to his adventures. Kakyoin, however, has spent the entire season in the shadows. His only rise to fame was that one episode where he did that weird cherry-licking thing. So of course, just as he recovers from nearly becoming blind, he gets unceremoniously slaughtered by Dio. That’s the worst comeback ever. At least Avdol came back from near death with a sassy new personality. All Kakyoin got was sunglasses and a hole in his abdomen.
Kakyoin’s death is all the more baffling when I think back to how he originally used his Stand – possessing other people. Couldn’t he have just possessed Dio, made him commit suicide, and then called it a day? I’m a little confused as to why he lost the amazing ability to make people dance like puppets to his every whim and ended up just being the AoE damage guy who throws gems around randomly. In my mind, he’s always been really strong and I’ve been counting on him to surprise everyone with his strength. Unfortunately, it turns out I’m a horrible judge of power levels and Kakyoin was one of the weakest dudes all along. I just really, really, really wanted him to get more credit. But wish as I may, Kakyoin will always end up being the pretty boy support character. His usefulness is undeniable, but that’s not enough to make him anything more than a quiet helper on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, I’m convinced Polnareff is going to be the new main character any time soon since, unlike Kakyoin, he’s stolen almost all of Jotaro’s screentime. He’s proven time and time again that his power is immense – almost rivaling that of Jotaro’s. He’s a shining star who has defiantly cast aside the role of a supporting cast member and become my favourite character, hogging the spotlight and gloriously making a name for himself with every new Stand member he slays. Also, he’s a giant dork who’s super fun to watch. Am I greedy for wanting Kakyoin to get the same treatment as Polnareff and become a frontline force as well? Definitely! That being said, I still wish it could have happened. Heck, leave Jotaro out altogether and just let Polnareff and Kakyoin do their thing.
R.I.P. Kakyoin…I am sorely disappointed you did not use your sunglasses in some strategic way to kill Dio after your surgery. What a waste of a potential comeback move. I’ll also be pre-emptively mourning for Polnareff now, who will probably just keel over from his previous wounds getting severely infected at some point. His future looks grim. This finale ain’t gonna be a pretty one for the Jotaro gang, but boy is it going to be fun. It just shows how strong Dio is that he killed off 2 people when literally all of his minions failed to do so. This is the next level.
I love Dio’s Stand and how absolutely enamoured with his own power he is. ZA WARUDO is an interesting Stand that sounds incredibly overpowered, but I get the feeling that Dio’s narcissism will be his own downfall. It’s going to be one crazy ride to the finale. I kind of wish I had just skipped like 8 fights and just watched these episodes because this is nothing like the quality of some of the earlier fights. I’m impressed!

I guess part of Za Warudo’s power is to make Dio’s opponents carry the damn idiot ball. This was a Bad End for a good character, and not in a good way. I’m not convinced that Joseph is dead as of yet. And stop picking on old people!

Personally, The World’s ability is rather easy to understanding. Part 4’s Killer Queen, Bites the Dust is a bit hard to explain. Part 5’s King Crimson is REALLY hard to explain. And of course GER.

Since when did Dio learn to fly? He seems like an SSJ from DBZ.
After knowing ZA WARUDO’s power and thinking back to the feats he’s done in the past episode to showcase it, it seems like he’s using it in such a ridiculous way. I mean, he was using his time stop to practically move Polnareff and that senator from their position back to their original place just to troll them. That’s one way to show off I guess.
And I didn’t expect Kakyoin to go out just like that after being missing for almost half the season. I guess they need to nerf just about everyone so that it will be Jotaro who will save the day. He’s the Jojo of this part after all. Though really, he just doesn’t feel like a Jojo like Jonathan or Joseph. I don’t think I’ve heard them call him Jojo or hear the word Jojo from anyone at all. And from what I’ve heard about this fight, the way Jotaro beats Dio is pretty ridiculous bordering a DEM. We’ll talk about that when we get there I guess.

Honestly, Dio could have paused time and stabbed them all through the heart by now. It’s pretty funny how he just uses his immense power to just make Polnareff go up and down stairs. A very Dio thing to do.
Me neither! He was missing for so long due to getting wounds to his eye and then when he gets back he loses every single fight until he dies. Great.
I’m not a big fan of Jotaro precisely because he wins most of his fights with asspulls (or simply being super strong). I really hope his battle with Dio doesn’t end that way. But as you say, we’ll see how it goes.
