Bring in the nostalgia because time is flying for us and here’s another year gone. The Metanorn Team keeps growing and same for our amazing community, who are regularly around to keep Metanorn a happening place. In aniblog life, we are still in our teens but things are still pretty much together with our varied team members. Happy happy happy birthday, Metanorn! And that means happy birthday to the writers, the readers, Will-sama, and every other person who helped make us what we are. Metanorn has, and always will be, a group thing. If you’re reading this, you are part of that group. You are Metanorn. So, uh, happy 7th birthday? Boy, I don’t remember being that young…
Wooooooooooooo!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY METANORN! It’s really hard to believe that we have been around for seven years, but I think that is mostly due to all of the followers and commenters that keep us reviewing anime every year! So yeah thanks to everyone that keep commenting.
Time to throw some confetti; it’s Metanorn’s birthday~! It’s been another great year here, which (as always) is thanks to the all-powerful and awesome Kyokai; the amazing team who keeps bringing out great posts, podcasts, and more; and the commenters and lurkers who keeping the fun going strong~ I’m thankful to be apart of Metanorn for yet another year despite the fact I still post very sporadically. And I’m grateful for all the commenters and lurkers who actually read and comment on those sporadic posts! So with that, here’s to another year and hopefully many more to come~!
Metanorn is 7, my favorite number! The lucky number! In terms of thanks, what Kyo, OC, Fosh, Hoshi, anaaga, Kara, lvlln, Highway, Sumairii, Skylion, Samsura, Irene & Kyon said. To the few of you that listen to MetaVerse, I much appreciate the time you put into listening and surely it’ll continue to year 8.
Yay, it’s Metanorn’s birthday again! I may not be as active as I once was (yay real life responsibilities OTL), but it’s always great to come back here when I can and see how wonderful the community still is~. You commenters and lurkers are great, as is the staff here! Thanks Kyo, for rounding up such awesomeness into one site and thanks to all of the readers, since you’re the ones supporting us!
It’s another birthday for Metanorn, which means Metanorn is getting older and older. Somehow I don’t hate it though, and I hope I can see Metanorn keeps celebrating its birthday until its 2xx or maybe 5xx something. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to contribute much to Metanorn last year. But whenever I come back to Metanorn, I always feel as if it’s my virtual home, and it will always be. Once more Metanorn, happy birthday!
Happy Birthday to Metanorn! We’ve made it all the way to second grade now! Well, sometimes it seems like that, but usually been great. This is the site I check multiple times a day, mainly because I want to see what our commenters are saying. It’s been a blast writing for Metanorn for the past two + years, and commenting for a year more than that, and it’s always the atmosphere that makes me feel the best about the site. Thanks to Kyo and all the other staff for their hard work, and thanks to everyone reading!

Seven Years Folks. They grow up so fast! One minute there they are, hiding in their little corner of the internet, blogging about how this little thing like Soul Eater might just catch on. And look at them now! We got writers in varying degrees of depravity and fandom inspired lunacy, posts out the Wazoo, and a pretty nifty design If I may say so. I mean sure, I’ve only been here for about a month now, but for the rest of the crew who have been working here before me, I have nothing but praise. I hope going forward I and my fellow colleagues/comrades/soldiers of the dread legion can continue to bring you the wonderful content that makes Metanorn the great place it is. I guess 7 times is the charm!
So, seven years have come and gone already. I never would have guessed, time flies by so quickly. Coming to Metanorn almost 3 years ago now, I really can’t believe how much fun and good times I’ve had on here. Having just joined in an official capacity, I’m so happy to be celebrating Metanorn’s birthday with all of you. Seven has been known as the number of completion, and I think that the foundations for the site are now fully complete and that there are now even bigger, greater, and more wonderful things in store for us as we go forward. I’m happy to be a part of this and to be celebrating with wonderful day with all of you, to my new Metanorn family, from the bloggers to the web designers to just the lurkers that hang around, I’m glad to be here. Well folks, it’s that time of the year again. Christmas! Wait, it’s not Christmas? Oh…it’s the next best thing: Metanorn’s birthday! Even though I haven’t been for very long, it’s a joy to be writing here, and it’s been fun to see Metanorn grow during the time that I’ve lurked. Thank you Kyo for not feeding me to a wallaby, the rest of the team for not giving me scurvy (yet), and the readers who, hopefully, aren’t sick of me already. If you aren’t, send oranges quick.
ﾟ･✿ヾ╲(｡◕‿◕｡)╱✿･ﾟIt’s been a long time, hasn’t it? 5+ years in managing Metanorn and it literally has become much bigger than just a hobby/interest. A part of all our online personas and a home away from home. A big shoutout to the Metanorn Team Alumni, the current team and our regular commenters who have been around for years, building our community. Thank you for hanging out with us everyone!
In terms of the last year numbers, many good times were had. Have a look: 12.7Million visits, with 5,375 posts, 102,000+ comments, 7,200+ tags, 602 categories, more than 4,463 nicknames used while commenting and 3.7M spam blocked. Yeah, our spam count doubled since last year as our spam monster has no limits.
Year 7 Highlights
- Kept our best claim intact of churning out posts every single day since 25th July, 2010.
- Reached another milestone of 12+ million visits.
- Spam Monster became waaaay out of hand.
- Team kept on covering diverse anime genres expertly.
- We went to even more Anime Conventions, and landed exclusive interviews with Yuu Asakawa (seiyuu of Rider from fate series), Tomokazu Sugita, Nao Shirahane and Makoto Kedouin.
- We showed our love for mecha with MechaNorn.
- Successfully continued audio aniblogging under the title of Mini-talk and video reviews.
- There was a LOT of Tag Teaming.
- Our MetaVerse podcasts became more regular with a varied Cast.
- Religiously kept up with our detailed Seasonal Previews (Summer | Fall | Winter | Spring) and First Impressions as usual.
- Continued our Gaming reviews and Manga reviews.
- Kyokai tried to lure in even more people to check out Type-Moon offerings with editorials via Fate’s Unlimited Blade Works series.
- Partied year-round with more birthdays.
- Wrote some more Editorials!
- We had a very fun Halloween, Valentine’s and April’s Fools.
- MetaFap and NSFW tag accumulated more fan-following.

Happy Birthday, Metanorn! Lucky number 7, huh? Nice and congratulations to all who helped make it possible. It’s a little overwhelming knowing it’s now been 4 and a half years since I’ve been commenting. Did I spend that much time here? Plus, I wonder how you all deal with commenters/writers with really obscene comment counts.
They shall remain nameless, though.😛On the highlights, it says Kyokai tried to lure in even more people to check out Type-Moon offerings. Then I won’t hesitate to say I’ve done some luring of my own from time to time. Hey, we always try to bring more people in on what we’re into, right?

irc is kinda dying with the rise of social media et. al. Whilst I’d like to lurk, I’m already lurking on another network.

irc is definitely dying even with the fact of other messaging systems. The real-time-ness of it just cannot compete with the saved messages of a FB group, or a skype chat, to mention two that I’m familiar with. It’s not a bad protocol, but it’s just got too many disadvantages, and its one advantage – high number of concurrent connections – doesn’t really matter anymore as people’s conversation circles shrink.

Facebook is the graphic version of irc with less privacy. Dunno about skype. Twitter is the abridged version of irc with same privacy issues as facebook. I prefer to keep a minimalist digital footprint.
Anime based IRC started to die the day bitorrent appeared on the scene. It killed the main reason people had to lurk in IRC. You could say that if BT came earlier and I didn’t get onto IRC, things would be much quieter.
