Rudy-“Dude! Did we like hack the game?!”    Touya-“……”

Hooray! Time for a Log Horizon 2 minitalk on Metanorn! Sorry for the delay, but anyway! These two episodes have been very interesting with the reveal that some of the Odyssey Knights are not really happy being stuck in this MMORPG while Shiroe and the others like him have kind of adapted to it.

I am guilty of not catching up the past fortnight due to festivities and the lack of glasses villian. *adjusts glasses*

Slowly regaining momentum thanks to the wyvern incident but episode 20 was by far the best entry since the kids began their journey. Nyanta was basically dealing with the same situation with Londark as Tohya was with that crazed Odyssey Knight.

The difference between them is what Londark is saying about being in Elder Tale without his consent can at the same time be applied to him being in the real world as Nyanta pointed out. If he was born in Elder Tale like the People of the Land, there wouldn’t be any complaints at all.

I get what Tohya is trying to accomplish. However, it’s a fruitless effort forcing his view on someone else due to disagreement. Just because he has no problem being in the game doesn’t mean others will feel the same way. You can’t “save” someone who obviously doesn’t want to be and multiple attempts have shown the guy isn’t intent on changing his mind. So he’s unnecessarily getting himself hit.

Yeah things finally got interesting with Nyanta appearing! I like that he is somewhat involved without revealing it to the kids.

I get the feeling that Londark would make a better NPC character than Player, but again as I said on the recording I think it is great that Log Horizon shows us that some players do not want to be stuck in the MMORPG world unlike Shiroe and his friends or the guys that Tohya was fighting.

Agreed he is sort of wasting his breath trying to convince those dudes to stop killing themselves over and over again because they aren’t really going to stop and be all “WHOA YOU ARE RIGHT!” that said I am happy that he at least tried to stop them,

I really feel like they haven’t explained nearly enough of what the hell is going on with Plant Hwyaden, the people of the land, and the whole thing with Nureha and all that stuff. It was like “Let’s just stick in a Nyanta fight.” That said, Londark’s nihilistic speechifying really grated on my ears. Whether he had a choice to be there or not, that’s no excuse for the use of force against others. The Odyssey Knights were slightly better, in that they were wanting to hurt themselves, although I think Tohya was justified in imploring them to stop. And when they decided to up the ante with property damage and possible innocent casualties, then they lose the benefit of the doubt.

I agree that Hwayden is woe-fully underdeveloped. All they need is a placard stating “We R Bad Guys” and that would be it….

    • Foshizzel says:

True on all things Plant Hwyaden! They really haven’t explained WHY they want to go to war with the Players! I keep guessing that it has to do with them taking so much land away from the NPCs? -shrug- just a guess or again the game is being corrupted that it’s making them go CRAZY? IDK

  4. skylion says:

One thing I find myself unclear on: Do the People of the Land that ascend to Adventurer status still keep their mortality?

    • Highway says:

There’s only been one, no? And he is decidedly not mortal, cause he was killed and came back to life.

    • Krono says:

If you are talking about the commander that was a people of the land then I imagine not unless she got the adventurer status like Rudy did from Shiroe.

      • Foshizzel says:

I wonder if possibly Nureha figured it out and they used her to become adventurers? That could be a possibility, but of course we don’t know if anyone else can do what Shiroe did for Rudy.

        • BlackBriar says:

For now, I think only Shiroe knows how to do that.

          • Krono says:

Ditto. It also seems that every special skill is unique to its user, so no one can use Shiroe’s method to apply the sub-class Adventurer. I do not think anyone is even thinking to turn the People of the Land into Adventurers. It is more the case of them wanting the People of the Land strengthened through various forms of training.

          • skylion says:

I’m going by the “logic” of…if one person can pull of a trick….a polar opposite character can as well…

            • Krono says:

True, but if that were the case there would be no need for those ghost bodies. I suppose they could say it is more convenient since they do not lose memories, but I feel a lot of energy has to be used to run them compared to just adding a Sub-Class and being done with it.

            • BlackBriar says:

If it’s from an antagonist, it’d have a more profound effect.

  5. Krono says:

I feel that everyone utterly lacked a sense of urgency and it annoyed me a great deal or at the very least was immersion breaking. The only one actively doing something to help the people of the land was Serara.

Another oddity was that that commander women that was a person of the land should not have been able to challenge Nyanta since she was around level 64. She should have been nowhere near as strong as him since he is level 92. At least in MMOs level growth is usually exponential, so a 30 level difference is huge.

I do feel that this could a better if we had more information of why this was going on because I do not understand why the ghosts attacked the knights when I thought they were supposed to working under Plant Hwyaden together. So far I’m not sure what they are trying to accomplish by setting the Wyverns on the town and then having the Odyssey Knights fight both them and people of the land ghosts. If they wanted the people of the land to get experience they could have fought together.

    • Arthur says:

Well, since the world became real, level mean less than they usually would. A level 92 is still stronger, but skill matters more now, i guess. A general that was figthing all her life should have more experience and maybe her class gives her some extra buffs but another big factor was that Nyanta was holding back. Once he became serious he could have killed her but he was stopped twice by his old friend.

The Ghosts attacking the town/ the Odyssey Knights confused me as well. Felt kinda pointless. But i guess just because Plant Hwyaden absorbed everyone doesn’t mean the different factions have to get along. And the Odyssey Knights only want to get home so they wouldn’t help with world conquest anyway. I assume part of that was simply factions messing with each other or getting into each others way.

      • Krono says:

Going along that line of thinking, although cool I would venture to guess that Nyanta was not seriously fighting any of those battle and just trying to convince them to stop. We could see it with the commander, but not as much with Londark. I’m guessing this because there is no way a mage could fight off a melee character at close combat with a staff.

I suppose it does make sense that there could be dissenting factions given how big Plant Hwyaden has grown.
