Those that love Delicious Fruit Caek, know a rare love indeed!

I love how Aika still holds the show. But can the falcon’s hear the falconer? Does it matter, when this sort of mere-anarchy is loosed upon the world.

  2. CarVac says:

Twintails is turning out to be the most reliable fun of the season, along with Bahamut.

Neither was on my radar at all before the season started.

    • BlackBriar says:

Both were unknowns and became surprise hits. Certainly with Bahamut. Goes to show a book can’t be judged by its cover.

    • lvlln says:

Rage of Bahamut is definitely my favorite this season, but Twintails is just as definitely the show I look forward to most every week. Wouldn’t have predicted either, though I must admit Twintails is progressing in a style that I kinda expected. Just didn’t expect it to do it so well.

  3. BlackBriar says:

Grisaia no Kajitsu – 06: An improvement so far. Yumiko’s arc provided more insight and drama compared to Michiru’s. Living in such a miserable, hellish life, there’s no way she could’ve kept her sanity and not lash out at that student. Yumiko was on a short fuse as it is.

Her father was obviously a massive asshole who deserves no forgiveness, can’t deny that but I’m also seething at the mother. Telling her she should’ve been something she’s not for the sake of having it easy was really low. Come on, she was the only one who gave a damn to visit her in the hospital. Ungrateful bitch. Made it clear she valued other things more than her own child.

  4. BlackBriar says:

Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu – 05: Now the team is set. If had to categorize each Tail based on skill, Tail Red would be attack, Tail Blue for speed and Tail Yellow with her heavily armored suit for defense.

I’m amazed. The president connected Souji to Tail Red simply by looking at the bracelet. Glad to know most of the characters aren’t gullible. Though I inquire as to how she got her conclusion with the obvious gender difference factor in the way.

Poor Aika. Once Thouars said that bust enhancing fragment she found was going to another suit, her hopes were going to get crushed before getting to see the light of day. However, her ambition is to be admired. It’s only justice. 😉

    • Highway says:

Even Twirl was sympathetic to Aika. It’s not Twirl’s fault that the Yellow bracelet didn’t resonate with Aika (not that it’s Aika’s either).

      • BlackBriar says:

I’m sure the Yellow bracelet rejected because it already sensed the properties of the Blue bracelet inside her.

    • lvlln says:

However, her ambition is to be admired. It’s only justice. 😉

How does that truism go again? Flat is justice? 🙂

      • skylion says:

        …you know it…

      • BlackBriar says:

Ho ho ho, both are fine but I was going more for “Oppai is justice”. Something I learned from Issei Hyoudou. 😛

        • skylion says:

          Oppai is a lie!

          • BlackBriar says:

Obey the Harem King!! His words are absolute!!

          • Di Gi Kazune says:

Interestingly, I found NGNL’s oppai trio to be non-offensive… Maybe it’s the style of dress and emphasis on the element?

            • BlackBriar says:

Heh, I believe I’ve just found some useful ammunition for this bust war. Charge!!!

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

              Don’t be a Steph! 😛

What I suspect is the reasoning is that the trio have usefulness other than being top heavy:
Steph: the person that gets things done
Jibril: the person who you call for heavy firepower. Also a good librarian.
Fii: #2 in terms of artillery, more precision.

I had been thinking of NGNL and the way its designed is that each character would have a role in a RPG party.
Shiro being the tactician and Sora being psyops. Izuna fills the brute physical tank role, Inu tanks. Plum is… an entrapping disguise master.

  5. zztop says:

Twintails: The Guildys are just a buch of space perverts. ;p

Vanadis: LN readers say the anime will likely cover the 1st 5 volumes, the Brune civil war arc. This will allow all the Vanadis to be introduced. They are also complaining how the anime is cutting character interactions, world building and other subtleties that made the LN good.

Ps. Translated volumes are available at Bakatsuki; the latest vol 10 is being translated Atm.

    • BlackBriar says:

The Guildys are just a buch of space perverts. ;p

That goes without saying. Each new one is more depraved than the last. Not to mention the newer ones keep getting ridiculous in appearance.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

What we [the Collective of the Borg] hope is that it doesn’t spew a crappy second season like Nyaruko-san. That said, while its an entertaining piece of work, we don’t see particularly good disc sales. Please correct that last statement if there is any anecdotal evidence.

        • BlackBriar says:

Though it’s somehow entertaining, I don’t see this as the kind of anime to generate a second season. My guess is anything useful would be expended right here. It’s difficult to believe a lot of material can come from this. It is a gimmick being used, after all.

          • Di Gi Kazune says:

            I would like NGNL S2 though…

            Mmm… soft izuna-tan dakimakura…*cuddle*

            • BlackBriar says:

I’d like second seasons of Ao no Exorcist, Ben-To, C³: Cube x Cursed x Curious, D-Frag!, Hataraku Maou-sama! and Strike the Blood.

We already have confirmed sequels of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya, Gatchaman Crowds, High School DxD, [K], Senki Zesshou Symphogear and Knights of Sidonia. They just need release dates to be announced.

I already got one of my wishes granted with a new Durarara!! starting Winter 2015 and it’s going to be a three split cour. The first of its kind.

    • belatkuro says:

One incorrect thing in your (secondary) information. We won’t get to see the last Vanadis if they’re aiming to cover up to volume 5. The last one shows up in volume 6.

  6. BlackBriar says:

Madan no Ou to Vanadis – 06: I’m liking this more as it goes along. It keeps getting interesting. Tigre’s sudden brand as a traitor and subsequent seizure of his homeland made up for the anticlimactic end to the fight at the start. Where he goes from here is anyone’s guess. If he’s lucky, he might find something of value and offer it to Ludmila as tribute in exchange for help if everything begins to go south. She’s already sweet on him. Right now, he has to worry about staying alive. That slash across his chest looks deep.

  7. Highway says:

Vanadis: The whole war thing seems stupid. “Why are we attacking?” “Because there’s an army there!” “But why is there an army there?” “Because we’re here to attack them!” Plus they’re explaining who’s on whose side, and where they’re going, and there’s no map, and we have no idea where any of these places are and it’s all completely meaningless.

    • lvlln says:

A map would definitely be helpful. Along with a basic explanation of why these countries are at war. Plus maybe how much autonomy each of these duchies have. I get the feeling someone who knows more about medieval politics might be able to figure it out without explanation, but not me.

  8. Highway says:

Twintails: When you think it can’t get more awesome, it does. And I love how it never ever devolves into true perviness. And Aika is just a terrific character. Played perfectly.

  9. JPNIgor says:

I’m somehow stuck with Grisaia no Kajitsu ‘-‘ Is that bad?

It’s like, stuff get so out of hand, so over the top, so disturbing that I can’t help but lock my eyes on the screen. I’m not saying that it’s great though, there are a lot of problems. Her father becoming another person as soon as Yumiko “died” was very offputting to me. At one point he is a bastard who would scare her daughter to death, only for her to become a decent heir to his company and the other, he is mourning for her death (almost understandable, since he already lost another child but still…)

Ah, and the slight shaftisms. I like it a lot. Yeah, I’ve become a Shaft fanboy after spending so much time with monogatari series.

    • lvlln says:

AFAIK, Shaft has nothing to do with Le Fruit de la Grisaia. It’s being produced by 8-Bit, whose likely most famous work is the Infinite Stratos series.

One connection to Shaft is that the original character designs for Le Fruit de la Grisaia VN was done by Akio Watanabe, who also did the anime character designs for the Monogatari series (including doing the full on character design of Ononoki Yotsugi, who had not been illustrated in the novels at the time of the Nisemonogatari anime). He’s also known for doing the anime character designs for the The World God Only Knows series. And if you pick up the PS3/Vita game Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed, he did the character designs for that.

      • skylion says:

8-Bit should be more famous for Yama no Susume…

        • HannoX says:

I hate Yama no Susume! It’s got me to spend around $300 on hiking gear and climbing a local mountain several times this year. Can’t wait for each episode to air!

          • skylion says:

This is that special kind of hate?

            • HannoX says:

Apparently so. I wish both seasons would be bundled together and come out on a disc, but I can’t see any North American studio picking it up if that happened. I just think it wouldn’t be a very good seller.

      • JPNIgor says:

I know about that, but I can’t help but connect the character design and the exaggerated expressions to Shaft. And all the weird stuff happening around, too.

    • BlackBriar says:

I’m somehow stuck with Grisaia no Kajitsu ‘-’ Is that bad?

That shouldn’t matter if you are the one enjoying it.

  10. zztop says:

    Vanadis LN elaborations:
1)Urs is the name of Tigre’s late father.

2)In the novels, Tigre is developing feelings for Ellen. He doesn’t act on them because there’s too many complicated politics involved if a Vanadis and minor Brune nobleman got together.

3)Lim’s weakness is for stuffed toy animals, especially teddy bears. This is why she blushed when helping Tigre get dressed in his bearskin.

4)Tigre tries to play it cool like Ellen when Lim walks into him bathing naked. He gets a bucket in the face.

    • lvlln says:

Hm, when did Lim walk in on Tigre? Is this another scene the adaptation unfortunately skipped over?

      • belatkuro says:

Yes. It was suppose to be in the first episode after Tigre saw Ellen taking a bath. She allowed him to take a bath there which is only for women, meaning Ellen and Lim. Lim walks in to take a bath herself. Then this happened.

        • lvlln says:

Considering the size and shape of that censor bar, I can’t blame Lim in this case. Also, if this would’ve been in the 1st episode, it was probably the right call to skip over it.

        • Highway says:

I thought they did that part a few episodes ago, when Elen said something like “I set up a reward for Tigre”. Or was that when he walked in on Lourie? Either way, I think they’re going to that well (bath?) a little too often.

          • BlackBriar says:

I thought they did that part a few episodes ago, when Elen said something like “I set up a reward for Tigre”. Or was that when he walked in on Lourie?

Elen did say that right before Tigre walked in on Ludmila, which was the start of episode 5.

    Twintails LN stuff:
1)Thouars tells Souji he could have a transformed male form using the Yellow Tailgear. Of course, he still prefers using the Red Tailgear.

2)Aika is convinced Souji will never be interested in a woman’s body unless it’s her twintails. Thouars intends to change this by sexually harassing Souji even more.

    • Highway says:

It’s been obvious from the beginning how much Aika has tried to mold herself into the object of Souji’s desire. I think that her character is being played just right, in that she really wants to be with Souji, but she’s also not interested in changing who she really is to be with him. She’ll change something superficial like her hair style (and I personally like her style much better than the seitokaichou’s) but even with that, she’s still who she is.

I even think that if she doesn’t end up with Souji, she’ll be disappointed, but she’ll move on and be fine. Just a great character.

  12. belatkuro says:

Twintails: Them Guildys have such manly voices. New additions with Ookawa Tooru, Kosugi Jurouta and Cho. I want to see a Guildy voiced by Norio Wakamoto.
And why is a Tailgear made from big breast attribute make Erina get a big butt as well? Does not compute.

    • BlackBriar says:

And why is a Tailgear made from big breast attribute make Erina get a big butt as well? Does not compute.

They want to even out the proportions of her body, maybe? To make sure she gets the full package? 😉

      • skylion says:

No, I’m sure it was to tick me off.

        • Highway says:

          They can’t all be TailFlat.

I do have to say that even Tail Yellow isn’t exactly huge. She’s just larger than Aika and Souji.

          • skylion says:

Hey, you take that back! The canall be TailFlat! Believe!

            =-)

            • BlackBriar says:

Nope, Highway speaks the truth. There has to be variety or it will be like looking at an assembly line. That would be dull. 😀 Diversity rules here!!

            • skylion says:

I’m down with diversity. But the yellow bracelet is evil, as it turned a Lovely LOLi into yet another Boring Bishoujo. Evil…..

              😉

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

              *supports skylion*

            • skylion says:

I love it when even my wise-cracks get support!

            • Sumairii says:

Without bigger boobs, there can be no flat chests. There would be no comparison to make.

            • BlackBriar says:

Without bigger boobs, there can be no flat chests. There would be no comparison to make.

Words have never been more true!! You, sir, have a great amount of my respect.

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

There was an explanation about how flat chests are actually bigger because the flatness is only a fraction of a circle of larger radius while oppai has most of the circle seen… Can’t seem to find that pic…

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

              @sumarii

There can be no light without darkness, no good without evil, no yin without yang, etc2

              For one defines the other.

            • BlackBriar says:

And one cannot exist without the other.

    • HannoX says:

Got to counterbalance that weight up front so she doesn’t fall on her face.

  13. belatkuro says:

Vanadis: In Tigre’s defense, he was more focused on saving Ellen that he didn’t think of aiming at Roland himself. Though Roland says afterwards that Tigre seemed confident in aiming for the horse so he could really have taken out Roland if he wanted to.

That part with the assassin turned out a bit wrong. The assassin was aiming for Ellen. She didn’t actually notice the assassin until the last minute. Mila noticed him and tried to protect Ellen there. That’s why the fighting stopped because Tigre saved the enemy from an enemy, hence Mila’s confusion and question. She recognized the fletchings from Tigre’s arrow from last episode.

And we actually skipped a lot of stuff(again). There was an envoy from Ganelon that came first before Roland’s army. They asked Tigre to join Ganelon since they have Thenardier as a common enemy. The conditions are that Tigre’s army be the vanguard of fights and that they get a right to plunder a city for a whole day should they win. Tigre didn’t like that idea so they fought that envoy’s army and won easily.
There was a sort of romantic moment afterwards involving Ellen getting drunk and Tigre giving her a piggyback to return to the camp(illustration here). There are others as well like Lim watching Tigre softly while he’s sleeping and Sofya talking to Tigre and teasing him. The former will most likely be in the Vanadichu specials as that’s where most of Lim’s dere parts go.

Btw, here’s the LN illustration of Tigre’s run in with Sofya in her birthday suit. The anime version was disappointing to say the least.

    • lvlln says:

Thanks for all the info from the novels. The anime adaptation really has done a poor job of conveying a lot of the important stuff from the source, it sounds like. First the Lim breast-sucking, and now Sofya’s intro to Tigre… not to mention that headshot in front of Ludmila that mattered a bit for the plot to make sense.

  14. belatkuro says:

Grisaia: So much for putting Yumiko up front in the OP as if she’s the main girl, only for her episode to be totally butchered like this. Half the episode was indeed anime original but that original part was just so bad. I went past anger and just went straight into laughing out loud at the events. At least they played her VN ED song as an insert.

The first half was from the VN up until her father’s entourage went to the dorms and Yumiko pulled out that stunt. And here I was looking forward to Yuuji’s grand theft auto and the turkey. Especially the turkey. Goddammit. And they messed up Yuuji’s pose when he was looking at Yumiko drawing. That last one was just my bias though.
I can summarize the cut out route if anyone wants to.

Yumiko’s episode is actually finished in this episode. Next episode is Sachi’s route already as she was the one who spoke in the preview and that title refers to an event in her route. And going from the episode titles leaked in a schedule, it will be one episode as well. I’m already expecting another major rewrite/butchering.

    • Highway says:

She could still be the main girl, unless they’re going for a “we’re done by episode 8” strategy, if they’re going to do Sachi next for one episode, and have already finished Michiru and Yumiko.

    • Sumairii says:

If Yumiko and Sachi are both getting one episode routes, would that suggest they are doing three eps each for Makina and Amane? Or are there more heroines to explore?

      • Sumairii says:

Or now that I think about it, it’s possible one of Makina and Amane will get one episode. And then the final girl will get 5 eps for some reason as the “main heroine.” If they do that though, they might as well have just chosen one girl and went with her from the start.

        • belatkuro says:

I guess there’s one more girl that matters a bit but you’ll see her in Amane’s route.
And the leaked titles were only up to episode 9 but it’s at least confirmed that Makina will get 2 episodes for her route. Whether Amane gets 1-3 episodes, the remaining ones will either be some skipped events from the common route or an anime original.
