About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

What the fuck has Maid Ange become… It has worse plot direction than Gene’i Taiyou. I hope to see Cerebrum’s counterpart to mindfuck everyone soon in order to redeem the show.

    We love Evil Shotas~!

    • BlackBriar says:

I guess you never saw Sunrise’s previous work, Valvrave. That was much grander on plot deviation. With Cross Ange, it seemed a bit off track.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

I will reserve that judgement for the time being as what I’ve read about valvrave still indicates by about this point it was still about boy in mecha fighting a war. Ange still has to explain their two plot devices: doragons and non-normas. And it has developed a plot hole: how the fuck can a norma buy a magic using maid??!!

        • Highway says:

Why is that a plot hole? That’s the way the world works. Plus, the fact that Momoka uses mana doesn’t matter to anyone involved: Ange wanted to stop her from being killed, Jill didn’t really want to kill her, Emma is just worthless all around, and Momoka wants to stay with Ange, no matter what. So Jill allowed the ‘purchase’ to go through. It was entirely a fig leaf for Ange’s attempt to save Momoka, in a way that was acceptable to the powers that be. I would say that if Hilda tried to buy Ange, or the captaincy of the squad, she would find that there isn’t enough money to pull that off.

Part of the point of the “normas” is that they hold a power over the ‘humans’ (I actually love the way they’ve reversed the nomenclature: ‘humans’ are people who aren’t human the way we the audience would see it). The methods of fighting and protection that the ‘humans’ use, Mana, doesn’t affect the ‘normas’, so they have to exile them.

The way I figure it with the DRAGON incursions, there’s no explanation that will be anything worthwhile, so it’s better to just kick the can down the road. It doesn’t really matter anyway: the show is about the squad, not the world.

          • Di Gi Kazune says:

Magneto would disagree with your norma/humans (homo sapiens/homo superior) analogy. 😛

Buying maids is akin to slavery. 😛 Especially if you consider she isn’t a norma but a Mana.

Whilst the first 4 episodes were brutal, it is that premise of life sucks, winners don’t quit, when you fall down, you get up and try again, etc is what keeps it interesting. Then we have mood whiplash. I still think that Mr. Penis has a major role since he is featured prominently in the OP.

I also await Salia (correct me if I picked the wrong one) to unleash a Sky Strike at 100% power and obliterate huge chunks of things. (oyaa? 😀 )

            • Highway says:

Is paying a ransom slavery? Is hiring a maid slavery? Is hiring that maid away from someone else slavery? I think you’re just not seeing the forest for the trees here. Momoka. was. going. to. be. killed. Everyone knew it, probably even Momoka. Ange bought control of her life from Emma / Jill, at a price that all involved were satisfied with. It’s not “slavery” because it isn’t.

      • Highway says:

Valvrave’s whole setup was way more stupid, and they took so many more liberties with… well everything.

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

I will have to agree with you here. Especially all those god awful Dorussian names. At least Cross Ange is saner.

(Then again, Gundam 00^00 wasn’t exactly guiltless either…)

  2. Di Gi Kazune says:

/me feeds spammy to the Ange DORAGONs.

  3. Namaewoinai says:

So Salia is a fan of Mahou-Shoujo Genre eh…

i was thinking… is she is going to be like this girl or this one (WOOOOOOOOO)

    Hint: A Seiyuu Joke, (gasp)…OOPS!

  4. BlackBriar says:

Cross Ange: For someone so serious and strict, Salia’s dirty little secret was such a surprise I had to take a pause and properly process what I saw because it was unbelievable. No Wonder Ange would use it as leverage against her. Oh, the sheer drop in respect from her teammates she’d get if they ever found out.

The pacing was unusual but hey, this is Sunrise, it comes with the territory and still manages to be entertaining. Along with an unprecedented amount of skin showing which amps the already girl/girl atmosphere of the series. That’s the guilty pleasure right there.

Everyone coming together and finally starting to act as friends/a team was nice to see and Ange is beginning to get less full of herself. Had trouble keeping in a few laughs as she piloted her mech in an ill condition. Only Hilda remains stubborn and it’s cost her two slaves. If she doesn’t brace herself, she’ll be alone for quite some time. In other words, no more raunchy yuri threesomes. Those three must have been going at it every night ever since Hilda commandeered all of Zola’s stuff.

  5. skylion says:

Vivian looks like the most moe crocodile evar in that last pic….

  6. HannoX says:

Cross Ange: I could be wrong but I sense a death flag, although I’m not sure for whom it’s raised. With Hilda refusing to accept Ange I think the consequence will be either Hilda or one of her slaves dying. For a series that started out so dark it’s been pretty light on the deaths lately.

  7. Highway says:

Cross Ange: Well, it was a little facile how they solved the issue of noone getting along. I actually can kind of go along with the way the different girls ended up. You can believe that Rosalie and Chris are kinda tired of hassling Ange, and given official cover for defying Hilda, they can now stop harassing her. Hilda’s just not satisfied with anything that Ange can do, so she won’t change. And Ange just wants to be left alone. She’s drawing somewhat closer to Ersha and Vivian, mostly due to Ersha and Vivian’s efforts, and maybe not having Rosalie and Chris shooting her in the back will make a difference.

You can see where Salia was just not being much of a leader, with letting them attack Ange, and not being able to control Ange. The attack that she finally had to assert control over went well enough, and gave Salia enough cred to get Ange to at least listen to her.

  8. belatkuro says:

If you checked the letter that Momoka wrote, you could actually read it and it was a well written one. Which is very surprising as Japan is usually bad with English. Here’s what it actually says(just a copypaste from MAL):Show ▼
