Yep. Romance is developing. And given this anime, that’s probably the worst kind of development one could have happen to their character. I mean, just look at Chelsea, and her feelings didn’t even quite seem to be reciprocated. So Mine and Tatsumi seem to be a developing item thanks to a wandering priest’s words. They did okay with setting it up since the beginning, since Mine has kind of been less tsun towards Tatsumi, though the developments this episode were kind of cliche. You know, with Tatsumi showing up at just the right time and having the first person he’s really saved in Night Raid being Mine. Though while he did manage to save Mine this time, she went and set up another death flag for herself in wanting to tell Tatsumi something after the fight. It’s kind of a given that Tatsumi isn’t going to be killed too easily, since he’s the protagonist, so that just leaves Mine as the one in the most danger. Though Mine’s weapon seems a bit situationally OP, since it increases in strength depending on how powerful the opponent is, so maybe that means she’ll be okay.
Wave and Kurome seem to have things developing too over the past few episodes, which may be why the plot didn’t decide to go with Akame and Tatsumi as a couple. Wave is already pretty much confirmed as Tatsumi’s counterpart on the capital’s side, so having a romance with Tatsumi and Akame might have been like watching the same thing happen twice.

But that’s the less important part of what happened with the Jaegers, since Seryuu is finally dead. It almost ended with a double knockout, but Seryuu was kind of a one trick character (in terms of what she did for the plot; of course I’m not talking about her artillery), so her loss doesn’t do much aside from set back the Jaeger’s fire power. Plus I’m pretty sure most people were getting tired of her nonstop talk about justice by this point. Her final moments with Coro were kind of sad, since that dog was kind of cute when it wasn’t killing people and devouring corpses, but she didn’t even seem to get much of a backstory other than how she was terrible at choosing people to hang out with. So I don’t think the plot will linger on her much longer, unless Wave or Esdeath do some reminiscing, since they’re the most likely to survive the longest in the Jaegers. Sure, Wave is having his first real fight with Night Raid right now, but seeing how he’s like a second Tatsumi, his chances of surviving are higher. But hey, Schere has been avenged (note how Seryuu was killed pretty much the same way Schere was), and Mine didn’t die, so overall, this was a pretty good victory for Night Raid.
After so many deaths in Night Raid, it’s nice to see them win a few battles with (kind of) important people without taking any losses. This battle was kind of silly in a few places though. Like Seryuu managing to hold an entire conversation and set off a bomb while cut in half (though Stylish experimentation seems to have turned her inhuman, so that’s probably the explanation there). Or Seryuu just sitting there letting Mine put Pumpkin together before that. Sure, Seryuu was waiting for Coro to regenerate, but she still could have attacked Mine in the meantime. But oh well, what’s done is done. Seryuu seemed to be in the Jaegers for her brute strength instead of her wits, and the way Mine finished things off, the fight still managed to be badass. Maybe the next episode, Naj and Esdeath might face off, but from the preview, it looks like Syura is making an appearance again.

Mine still has ways to go in my book. Unfortunately, I don’t like her as much as the other Night Raid girls. Maybe it was because she was so bratty and condescending at the beginning. She did do well against Seryuu, though, and got revenge for Sheele.

I think maybe she went too strong with her tsundere tendencies and that’s what rubbed me the wrong way. LOL, pink? For the longest time, it looked like purple to me.

Good to have you around again, Kara. You’ve been missing lately. Congrats on blogging another character death episode.
Oh, you have no idea. Finally Seryuu’s out of the picture and it couldn’t come soon enough. When Mine cut her in two, I suddenly start shouting “Die, you bitch!”. It was a pet peeve hearing her talk about justice when most of her actions indicated anything but. Her twisted smile while spewing such self-righteous drivel only made it worse. I didn’t feel anything in her passing thanks to her narrow-minded, black and white perspectives and not seeing her mentors Ogre and Stylish for the fiends they were. So to me, she died a death in ignorance. Were she more flexible in her judgments, questioned the way she operated a bit, I’d have been sympathetic. She would even kill unintentional criminals who commit crimes because they were forced to do so.
I know it’s late to ask this, but what exactly are these people? Dismembered at the waist yet they’re still alive and able to talk. Same for Sheele before she died. Normally an injury that severe is followed by instantaneous death. Is there something we should know about? Severed limbs is one thing and easily understandable but this is over my head.
Well, that’s one harpy gone and a Night Raid member avenged. Next on the payback list is Kurome. Here is where it gets tricky because even though she’s responsible for Chelsea’s death, she’s pretty much in a confirmed relationship with Wave and is still Akame’s younger sister. So that’s a fair amount of plot armor, if I do say so myself. I’d like to see how the story will proceed with this setting.
I wonder if the adaptation will remain faithful to the end. I’ve seen comments claiming some parts were anime original. Such as Lubbock taking out Bolic wasn’t in the manga and the Night Raid/Jaegers confrontations are badly paired up. I’m not a reader but this kind of talk has me worried.

Yeah, I’ve been busy with school (…and friends …and procrastination, but mostly school). But I’m back! Kind of!
Oh ahaha, for me, I liked the concept of Seryuu’s character (with the twist on the term “justice”), but yeah, I was kind of glad to see her go. I have to admit, having HanaKana voice her was brilliant though.
Uhhh “because anime” is the best answer I can give. I guess if their heart hasn’t stopped beating, people can still probably talk. A real person would be in extreme pain, but their lungs are still there.
I don’t think Kurome is quite in a “confirmed” relationship with Wave, but I can totally see it happening (plus I ship it ahaha). I think if anyone will kill Kurome, it would be Akame. Though she’s having health issues (even before that injury Chelsea gave her), so maybe it won’t even come to that.
Hmmm, see I don’t remember any of the things you mentioned being too different. I know they revealed who Syura was really early in the anime, compared to the manga and I don’t know if he meets Lubbock this soon in the plot… But they’ve done pretty well so far, so hopefully they can make it work. To be honest, from where the manga is now, I don’t know if there’s a “good” place to end the anime, so maybe the changes is for that.

HanaKana has been broadening her range lately and it’s paying off. She did good as Seryuu but her other memorable role of late is the vicious Binge Eater Rize Kamishiro in Tokyo Ghoul.
It would be something if Kurome stays alive in all this. I take it the health issues are from the drug that was forced on her. Before killing Chelsea, showed signs of serious side effects after the drug dissipated.

I’m pretty sure Rize is one of my favourite roles for HanaKana. It’s up there with Nadeko ahaha.
I kind of hope Kurome survives to the very end to screw with everyones expectations, but given how the story has gone so far, I’m not sure that’s going to happen.

Well I was definitely seeing death flags everywhere for Mine and was not sure if she was going to make it out alive even though I figured our overly enthusiastic “Justice” villain was going to die, I was not sure if she would take mine with her or not. Though the wanting to confess to Tatsumi after everything is over scene made me see a death flag the size of a skyscraper rise up behind her. I could be wrong though, so I guess we’ll see how things develop.

Ahaha yes, that ending death flag Mine raised is kind of unfortunate. Though I guess having the characters constantly screw over their chances by having development keeps things interesting. Though it also kind of acts as a bit of plot armour though. Her feelings seem to be kind of requited, so it would be more scarring for Tatsumi (and therefore, more like the anime overall) if she confessed and then died in a fight after that.

Well, I missed, which is not bad at all. But what happened was exactly what I imagined, Mine would fight her and kill her and then Seiryuu would pull some trick from her sleeve. Thank god Tatsumi finished with that demon girl real quick.
Talk about demon girl, you guys totally forgot about her. She was so badass talking about how she would beat Night Raid to death and then later she was like “No… You wouldn’t do it…” and that wry smile of “I’m fucked”.
I like Tatsumi x Mine, though I do like Tatsumi x Esdeath too, except for the fact that they will eventually fight to the death. Tatsumi x Akame would be kind of weird right now, since Akame cares for Tatsumi almost as if she were his mother.

Oh yeah, I forgot about her. Sadly she and the rest of her teammates were disappointing. Despite their reputation, which in the end seems bloated, none of them lasted very long whereas I was expecting a fair amount of tenacity. At least stay alive for about two episodes, people. Now overall, it looks like they were all bark and no bite.

Actually that won’t even appear in the anime, since whatever remained for her to do is already done without her in the next episode. If you want to know whatever happened and want to catch up to a LOT of important stuff the anime missed, it’s better to read the manga.
