Aldnoah.Zero – 11

Aldnoah Zero 11 - Cards

Leave the cards… you can play War after the war!

The juiceboxes and sandwiches are cute. Jrow, Fosh and Sky discuss the assault on the UE headquarters to officially kill the princess and then the attempt to get to the landing castle.

    Commentary on board the Castle: INTENSIFY ALL FORWARD BATTERIES! *watches the ship crash into the planet after collision.*

    The battle has begun, and Saazbaum has proved to be smarter than all the other knights combined!

    This episode was purely all action as Saazbaum makes his attack on Earth HQ. He sends in his own sky carriers and troops to fight, as well as he himself, his Dioscuria splitting itself into 3 mini kataphrackts, with the other two halves controlled remotely by him. The Earth forces are getting decimated, but they still fight back. Inaho and his friends are all called into service and Rayet is accidentally let out of prison, and so she too joins the fray.

    Asseylum, in her best self-pity and self-martyr expression, takes all the blame onto herself, and she comes up with a plan. The death of the knight of the castle can cause a shut down of the Aldnoah drive of everything powered by him. However, it can also be shut down by a member of the royal family as well. She and Inaho make a plan to have the castle shut down, by getting Asseylum on the castle to turn it off. Inaho makes a master plan and attacks the castle. However, he doesn’t realize that the knight he’s messing with is nothing like he’s faced before. Saazbaum has already planned for this, and heads them off by bringing down the Deucalion, which he holds as an abomination of Orlane’s kataphrackt.

    Meanwhile, Rayet, Eddelrittuo, and Slaine are still on the surface, with really nothing to do. Rayet looks like she’s about to take on Dioscuria’s other halves, however, I fear for her since I’m pretty sure that Saazbaum will reassemble his full mech before the end of it.

    Capt. Darzana makes one last ditch effort in her destroyed ship, and orders a kamikaze attack on the landing castle, using the Deucalion. The episode ends with the cliffhanger of the battle being turned from out of Inaho’s capable hands. The boy genius has finally been outmaneuvered!

    What shall happen next? Will they be able to turn of the drive? Will it make a difference?! What about Slaine? Now, that the fight has returned to the castle, will he return there? And will somebody tell me who the heck is going to pilot Tharsis? Can Cruhteo come back please? 🙁

    Well, on to next week for the season finale!

      You should read the ANN interview on creator Gen Urobuchi. He made a specific statement on characters, targeting on protagonists if you ask me, who feel they have justice on their side:

      “Sometimes when I see someone who’s a spirit of justice… I feel like I want to destroy them!”

      • Foshizzel says:

        I just read that interview! I like that quote about the spirit of justice hahah

      • ckuri says:

        Inaho doesn’t really strike me as somebody who acts for the sake of justice. That being said, the more important quote of Urobuchi for me was rather:

        Good and evil need to be on even ground, so that there is the real possibility that either could be the victor.

        • BlackBriar says:

          With his record for tragic developments, I wouldn’t put it past him that he creates a story where evil has a real possibility of winning.

    well….. things don’t look so good for the bunch. Seriously, every ray of light gets crushed right away. I wonder, how will the knight with a ridiculous name break their wings again. If he will, at all.
    Slaine’s arrival looked pretty stupid to me, actually, since he was left down there, when he came to help the princess. So far he’s been kinda useless 😀 I really like his character, but he just keeps getting left out, except the time when he fought with Inaho.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Honestly I don’t think Slaine will meet up with the princess until the middle of the second half! Poor guy he just wants to get back with her, but at the same time it makes me kinda laugh xD

      Now, now. We can’t have things too easy now, can we? 😉

    We already have Jesus Christ Kirito-Sama, so can we also have Moses Inaho or something. No joke, as someone who leads a small group of refugees against various powers who want to destroy them, there are actual parallels between Inaho and Moses. Solving arguments between people, serving a higher power, telling people to essentially walk towards there death (the sea only split after the Israelites walked to the waters first). Is it crazy of me to ellavate an anime character to prophet status? Yes, but damn if it doesn’t work

    • Irenesharda says:

      Unfortunately the “Moses” nickname has already been taken. Look up Valera very and Moses. 😛
      And I don’t know, isn’t really guiding people to freedom but is simply a soldier fighting back. He reminds me more of Gideon, who fought back with few men and little resources against Israel oppressors.

      Interesting nicknames for massively OP male leads this season. Alright then, if Kirito is Jesus Christ and Inaho is Moses, then who does that make Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei’s Tatsuya Shiba?

      • Foshizzel says:

        They are the holy trinity!

        Tatsuya = The father
        Kirito = The son
        Inaho = The holy spirit

        • Irenesharda says:

          I thought Kira had already been given the prestigious “J.C.” moniker long before Kirito?

          • Foshizzel says:

            True! Kira is the one id normally pick as jesus but nobody here watches Gundam besides a few like you and Jrow so they wouldn’t get the joke lol…

  6. BlackBriar says:

    This was effortlessly the best episode of the series yet. One crisis leading to another with no signs of a breather. Personally, it was difficult deciding which part was the best. Best lines: “When you’re that scared, you’re more likely to get hit! Bullets are attracted to cowardice!”

    Asseylum impresses every time she’s on screen. For a girl who’s lived nothing more than a sheltered life, she’s adapts to her surroundings very quickly and becoming more and more like a soldier. Which is a rarity for women born of privilege because most like that tend to be helpless damsels in distress.

    Sending a decoy or not, Asseylum would’ve been a trigger for Saazbaum’s convenience whether she liked it or not. The slimeball simply took advantage of her good intentions. All the blame falls to him.

    The huge tease here is that Asseylum and Slaine have not made personal contact since the entire debacle began. I was so waiting for them to meet up so he’d explain that her broadcast never got past the moon so she wouldn’t beat herself up about being a failure of a princess. That aside, we still have yet to see Inaho and Slaine get acquainted so Slaine can “thank” him for stabbing him in the back after helping him and leaving him at the mercy of the Orbital Knights.
