 I’m not going to lie; I’ve been so lazy these days because I’m still feeling the Ramadan mood. I’ve been obsessed with The Sims 3 too, since I went on an incest mission to make my Sim marry his stepmother, and it worked! So nothing bothers me now, and I can blog in peace. Viva incest Sims family! Er… Moving on.

If I said nothing much happened, it will be a lie since many things happened. It’s just that I can’t find any words that can describe my feeling except SQUEE when I watched episode 3 and 4… Actually, I can describe what happened in episode 3, and that will be poor Ryouma. Seriously, I feel bad for this dude. First, his 10-year crush happened to be a guy, and he only found out when he’s already hooked with Izumi. What’s even worse, the fact that Izumi is a guy didn’t stop Ryouma from having a boner from seeing Izumi’s skin (and nipples in the manga). Sounds silly, isn’t it teheh. Behind all the silliness that happened, there’s a tragedy and that is Ryouma’s love story. I mean, the guy is straight and all that. Then he turned gay in a snap all for the sake of his feelings for Izumi. Imagine you as a straight person having a boner/ being turned on at one of your same-sex close friend. Uncomfortable, right? And that’s the same feeling Ryouma suffered when he found that he likes Izumi no matter who he is. Sweet, but definitely tragic at the same time. But screw all these sympathies for Ryouma since I got some censored explicit scenes thanks to his actions. You go, Ryouma! Go chase Izumi’s ass like your life is depending on it!

Izumi, on the other hand… Jeebus, I will never get over his unexpected character. He’s definitely different from other uke. I mean, other uke would have gone doki-doki over Ryouma’s confession, but then Izumi’s all “lol fcuk this dude I got my 2D” on Ryouma. I couldn’t stop laughing on that one. That was definitely one of the most unexpected reactions in yaoi I’ve ever seen, and this one impressed me.  And the way Izumi treats Ryouma… God, I love it. Izumi has been an interesting character so far, but he never failed to surprise me. It’s as if he has more hidden surprises that can catch other characters (and he audience) off-guard. Not that I mind though. Izumi is getting more and more interesting, and I can’t wait to see more of his development. The comedy side of Izumi has been exposed, such as his otaku mindset and so on, and we have yet to see Izumi’s serious side. Now let’s see how Izumi’s serious side is as the anime progress.

I still love this anime until now. It’s still faithful to the manga so far, and the story has not strayed yet. I’m starting to appreciate JC Staff and the Director’s style of animating this series. He added little things that make the story more enjoyable, such as the mascots that weren’t in the manga and the little remarks made by the mooks (e.g. the people commenting on Ryouma’s actions the suspicious sumo wrestlers, and so on). The characters are more expressive in the anime, and they definitely talk more than they do in the manga. I can see the Director trying his best to make this anime enjoyable for both yaoi and non-yaoi fans. The highlight, however, has got to be the explicit scene that was censored with Pink beam. I mean, yes, it’s censored, but it’s definitely a huge progress in the BL world. Before, all we got were BL anime where the yaoi contents were not included in the anime. There were times when the sex scenes were also animated (such as Winter Cicada OVA), but that time has already passed, and we are in an era where it’s hard to find erotic yaoi anime. But with Love Stage!!, it seems that we are getting the kind of yaoi anime we want. Although it’s censored, it’s still an improvement in the yaoi world. So thank you so much, J.C.
