Sabagebu – 02

Trade in your guns for epic wrestling moves!

Just in case if anyone was curious as to what series I was going to blog I decided to go with super gut busting comedy, but I was originally going to just do Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen; however I found that to be quite boring even though I plan on watching more.

Momoka Is Evil

That Railgun moment.

Out of all the characters so far this season that have caught my eye I would easily throw in Mokarin err I mean Momoka as one of the biggest surprise for me but why? Because she does not take being made fun of or being bullied lying down! In fact she would rather get revenge which is kind of uncommon for most characters that I have known who go through those bouts of drama; however I think we all know that fact about her character after seeing the first episode. While that is true I totally did not expect her to randomly punch Urara in the face! I swear that damn scene had me laughing so much and afterwards it unlocked her M side?

Momoka-“WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY BOOBS?!”                     Maya-“…………..”

That said it was also kind of funny and a bit mean at the same time when Urara and Momoka teamed up to get revenge on Maya or was it revenge on her boobs? We might as well say both for now, but she asked them for help with a commercial because she has a problem trying to eat Natto. Now I have never eaten that stuff before but I do know several anime series that uses it as a running gag because apparently it is super gross! I guess it might be the smell, texture or even the sound that it makes that turns people away? Even seeing it animated honestly does not make me want to even try any and I can barely eat baked beans! So did they even help Maya get over her fears or did they completely destroy her? HELL NO! They made it worse and I think deep down Momoka had the time of her life messing with her instead, but at least the commercial got completed.

Kayo holds her breath for the best action moment.

Besides Momoka stealing the spotlight I will say that Kayo still remains to be the most mysterious character of Sabebu after saying only a few lines of dialog last week, but she is the typical silent anime character so I don’t really expect her to say a lot; however her actions speak louder than words because of her love of cosplay and this week she was super quick changing into a nurse, flight attendant, Shrine maiden, Tribal girl, karate master, samurai girl and to my disappointment the same Jill Valentine outfit! I guess that might be her go to fighting cosplay during the battle moments? Speaking of battle moments I think the underground shoot took some parts from that famous lobby scene in the first Matrix movie or some other movie? I remember that back to back shot from something and they even tossed in some slow-motion shots too! I guess the creators are big time action movie fans and I look forward to seeing what other movies they pull from next time.

End thoughts

I forgot to mention this but wow who knew that Momoka had such a natural talent for these silly survival games? Just kidding! I think she just had a rare case of dumb luck like when that praying mantis magically appeared in front of her at the right moment which helped her land a few kill shots on the other girls?! After seeing that scene play out it made me think that she might be the reverse Touma from Index or was it more like Yuzuki from Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun this week? Whatever the case may be do not mess with Momoka! So what was your favorite moment this episode? For me it is a toss-up between Momka being mean, unlocking Urara’s M side and those short moments with Momoka’s mom? She had the best line ever! “Mommy loves cute little loli girls who seem to be hiding darkness within them.” Wow best mom of the season right there.

That punch definitely caught me off-guard as well. This girl is violent. She’s also trigger happy when she open fired against Kayo and even finishing her off when they said it was a tie. She should lose the ponytail though as she looks better with her hair down.

I’m enjoying this far more than I expected. I’m going to stick around for this show. Along with Space Dandy and Nozaki-kun, seems like Mondays are going to be Comedy Monday.

Lol yes DAT PUNCH! So funny and Urara’s M side might be hilarious to see every other week, but I hope that doesn’t become an annoying gag every episode.

Yeah Momoka with her hair down <3

Awesome! Yes Space dandy and Nozaki-kun with Sabagebu is an excellent trio of hilarious fun~

Cynical sadist protagonist gives this show a nice twist. She may be the one doing the tsukkomi, but that doesn’t mean she’s any less crazy than the rest of them.

I notice that while Nozaki-kun has the came studio as Love Lab, this has the director and series composition staff, making me have more faith that this show will stay entertaining, even with Nozaki’s excellent source material.

    This is a gem.

Momoka spanked Maya with sushi… I don’t know why this sounds so lewd to me.

And how can you have your boobs grow bigger just by bathing in natto?

And wtf with Urara being an “M”? And wtf with that mother enjoying her daughter being an “S”? And wtf with Kayo’s super fast cosplaying abilities?

So many wtf… It’s hilarious, though.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Muahahaha I know right?

I have no idea that must be the magic of Natto?

LOL I love that about Urara it brings more physical comedy into the mixture as long as we don’t have to see it every week! I hope they can balance it out and wow Momoka’s mom is the best~

Good! I found this episode to be super funny.

This show’s a step above. It’s relentless with its slapstick comedy, hitting you continually with its physical and often violent jokes. That preemptive punch to the face was just… I was in stitches.

The pacing and free flowing style remind me loosely of my favorite pure comedy in anime, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. This show’s shown skill going dark as well with that natto PTSD bit in the 2nd half. Poor girl. 2 episodes in, this show is clearly far ahead of C3-bu, something I wouldn’t have seen coming in a million years.

    • Foshizzel says:

The slapstick is hilarious! I couldn’t stop laughing at certain points.

Oooh yeah? it does have a certain Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei feel to it now that you mention it and LOL that Natto scene was so creepy and funny! I am sure we have not seen the last of the Natto joke.

You know, it didn’t take me a second to love natto. Yes, it’s an odd food, but once you acquire a taste for it, it’s quite good, delicious even. And damn, it’s nutritious and good for the colon…something this Crone’s disease sufferer loves.

After this episode….I may just hate it.

This episode rescued the show for me. I acquired a taste for it…

    • Foshizzel says:

Lol yeah I always hear its healthy to eat Natto but thanks to anime I don’t even want to try any! Well maybe…

      Noooooooooooo!! T_______T

Good! I really enjoy the hilarious fun <3
