Majimoji Rurumo – 02

I mean, really, haven’t we all had days like this?

I was tredpicacious to continue the blogging of this show. But this one episode hit it right out of the ballpark. This is the quirky little rom-com that I always love finding.

/dream a little dream of me/

There are always certain types of shows I love watching. Since I discovered Toradora, I’ve always loved the RomCom genre perhaps the best of all. I’m happy to have found this one. As I mentioned during the First Impression, Souta is  rather the horndog of a teenager; he wears that lecherous heart on his sleeve. But people have two arms, and two sleeves. His other carries a heart of devotion. So far his wishes on those Magic Tickets have had a rather self centered approach to them, but they’ve always benefited Rurumo to the greatest degree. In two instances, he brought her up. Once in saving her from his own friends, and second to give her a home. Ultimately, neither one of those worked out for his horndog nature

Isn’t this like the plot of nearly every other anime?

You hardly need magic to make this sort of ending come about; this is how most anime begin. But Souta burned those Tickets, and this is his reward; Rurumo in a safe, and maybe even loving environment. He lost the chance to have her share a room with him, but just like his wishes on those tickets, the outcome is very much for her. The dude can learn. Maybe? And this is what I like about the show. Horndog teen is horndog, but that isn’t all there is to him.

I’m in love with this show, and I hope you are too. Take two parts quirk, three parts kawaii LOLi witch, a part of horndog teen boy, and mix with more nuts than a party assortment. Rurumo is just such a cute character that I cannot help but enthuse about her. This is a rather short post for me, and on purpose. I’m much more interested in hearing what you have to say. What did you find the most endearing? As, always, I like to hear what you folks think…

At least we know what he looks like.

Was that Mamiko Noto as Kouta’s mom? I thought she was the best part of the show. I don’t know if Rurumo really does it for me, even voiced by Suzuko Mimori. The show’s fun enough, but it feels like Kouta’s reactions swing a little too much (there’s too much amplitude to them, too, I don’t really care for the over the top reactions).

…those reactions are just inside my zone…it can go off just a touch.

Yeah, they push just outside of my zone, in much the same way D-Frag did. I realize there’s a sizable contingent of folks who like that, but for me, I prefer them a bit more reserved, because then you still have that range to go to crazier if something warrants it.

I think 6-Tatami Invaders really got their reactions right in the first episode, for instance.

I really thought Momoka’s mom was scary. But this woman… She’s even more scary than Tsukihi

Enjoying it overall. I’m glad Souta forgets to be a jerky pervert most of the time and when he remembers that he’s in a position he can be pervy, it’s always too late.

…and it does make me wonder how far they can stretch that feeling out before it hits the rom/com zone. Should be fun and funny and cute…
