Kakumeiki Valvrave – 20

Valvrave (2)

Whoa! Who is this character? Oh its just Shoko never mind.

Things are going to be depressing for L-elf with the sudden passing of Lieselotte and winning our poll from last week was of course my favorite L-elf being a badass on a motorcycle which is clearly the best choice!

———————————————

Sadness in space!

Valvrave (4)

L-elf needs a hug.

Damn we really have to feel bad for L-elf who is normally known as the master of planning but this week he is battling a massive case of depression after the loss of Lieselotte but I kind of saw that coming a mile away and how is he dealing with it? That answer is simple! Basically he is making himself go mentally insane after replaying her death over and over in his head as he tried to come up with an alternative solution to “save” her which I took as a time travel scenario involving the death of a loved one unless you want similar event to take place like in Steins;Gate! I mean even if he was able to save her at the time I think she probably would have died some other way. While L-elf dealt with that Haruto in the meantime appears to be finally taking things into his own hands by attempting to become a leader or is he? Honestly up until this point everyone has relayed heavily on L-elf EVERY TIME that something bad goes down! Sure that is not a major problem because that is L-elf’s job but seriously come on it is about time for someone else to step up and take charge like Haruto, but of course part of me feels that he is NOT cut out for that responsibility right now. Since we are talking about the pilots for a moment what is going to happen now that Saki was forced to reveal the dark secret about the Valvrave pilots being immortal monsters and Shoko might as well flush all that support she just gained down the drain because everyone is freaked out. Finally the last major mystery of the episode for me! What kind of data is stored on H-nuen’s earing that X-eins found? I assume it has everything about the Magus, Cain, Lieselotte, the rune factory and the Valvrave project and who knows maybe X-eins will be able to convince his other teammates to switch sides and fight Cain and I can picture him also saving Saki as a way to gain the trust of Haruto and the others! I certainly hope that happens.

As a bonus thing did anyone see the blue and pink haired character in this shot? Did you know they are characters from the light novel called Valvrave undertaker and you can read a bit about them on this tumblr page, but will they be important to the current anime series? I guess no one really knows right now but maybe the producers showed them off to hint towards a possible second season or movie?

I can’t wait for the backlash when Amadeus and Cain are revealed to be Magius. Of course, that’ll probably never happen…

    • zztop says:

That’s one hell of a cocky move by the Magius!
Think it’ll backfire on them in the long-run?

      • Highway says:

If this wasn’t Sunrise (based on what I hear from Fosh), it might backfire on them. But given the way they’ve killed off people with no karmic retribution, not even a hint, I doubt we’ll see anything backfire before the end of the series.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep I bet that will probably never be revealed unless the data from H-nuen confirms it of course.

  2. zztop says:

Given only 4 episodes are left for this season, does anyone think the writers can neatly wrap all the plot threads up by the end?

    • d-LaN says:

I have the feeling they can’t or it may be rushed but I’ve seen some convincing counter-argument so we shall see.

      *Still hoping for S3*

    • Highway says:

Why would they wrap it up? It’s just a continuing story. Maybe there would be another series, maybe not, maybe they’d do something different. But definitely don’t expect any ‘happily ever after’. I don’t even want them to try.

      • Irenesharda says:

I don’t know about “happily ever after” but there’s still several plot threads that need to be touched upon and wrapped up. And with this latest twist in the plot, in revealing the pilots’ true nature to the world, I really don’t see them ending this in 4 episodes either. There’s just too much left to cover.

It will probably will end openly to a degree with the creation of the Empire and then their subsequent adventures, but I still think they need at least one more season.

    • Foshizzel says:

I know only freaking four episodes left! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

    Re the Valvrave Undertaker LN:
I wouldn’t mind reading it, since I’m interested to see what type of spinoff story they will come up with.
Only 3 chapters have been published in the Dengeki Hobby magazine as of now.

In Valvrave Undertaker, the Kagerou robots that Nao and Jin pilot are reverse-engineered from Valvrave tech, like the new Dorssian transforming mechs the Karlstein boys drive. The Kagerou is:
a)remote-controlled from the Module, no internal cockpits
b)less powerful than the actual Valvrave
    c)DOESN’T turn you into a Holy Spiriter/Magius

The recent chapter introduces a new Dorssian character,
2nd Lft. Infigirl, who leads Der Freischutz/the Marksmen, an ARUS VIP assassination unit(or so I hear).

Another LN that novelises the TV series’s events confirms the ARUS President’s name as Jeffrey Anderson.

    • Foshizzel says:

Whoaaa thanks for the detailed information zztop! I am super curious about those two characters because you said they are not piloting Valvraves but something else instead.

Just a bit of a correction there, Fosh. It’s H-neun, not N-neun.

And I don’t know if his earring recorder thing has all that information on it, he only used it to record his confrontation with Cain and then later meeting part of the council, including the Fuehrer, all the way up to his “death”. Now, how X-eins will use this information is unknown. I think he will be angry, but I’m not sure if he will turn to the Royalists or to the Neo Jiorians and his old teammate? I just hope he doesn’t let his love of the real Cain and his best friend have him recklessly challenge Magius Cain. If that’s the case, the poor guy will lose. However, it’s very possible that Cain already knows everything and either already erased the information, or already has a plan to take X-eins out. He already knows all about Kriemhild being with the Royalists, but since it’s not bothering his Magius business, he lets her do as she pleases and watches her with amusement.

As to who will save Saki, I’m betting on A-drei. He’s the one who’s been spending the most time with her this season and he was giving her a look of sympathy while she was all wrapped up like a mummy. I can see him helping her to escape.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I have no idea what I was thinking when I typed out his name haha thanks though I will correct that.

Oh right it probably only has that final fight with Cain and the Magus before he got owned.

      I completely forgot about A-drei!

  6. Irenesharda says:

So, the secret is finally out, and in the worst way possible.

So poor Saki was taken into custody and at least we were not treated to a horrific torture scene of them trying to prove her immortality. (Thank you for doing an excellent job of that, ‘Shiki‘….)
It seems that the Magius have made their move, and in a genius maneuver decided to make use their own side-kin, the kamitsuki to take the heat off them, and to make them the enemy to humanity. I honestly feel sorry for Saki, she’s caught in all this and something really bad always seems to happen to her on the 10th episode of the season. It seems that A-drei is sympathetic towards Saki….will this mean that he might help her escape in the future.

Meanwhile, I’m thinking that H-neun might just be dead. I mean, how the heck did they get all his earrings if not off his dead corpse? But then again, Sunrise likes to gloss over small continuity plotholes. (L-elf was stabbed AND shot last episode, and yet now he’s perfectly fine, despite not having regenerative abilities?) So if H-9 comes back I wouldn’t be surprised, however, if he stays dead, I’m not surprised either. I’m glad the boys had a really close bond then we really realize, H-9 wore and earring for each of his teammates and I never noticed. He recorded his encounter with Cain on X-eins’ earring and hoped it got to him, probably sacrificing his life to do so.

Speaking of our Dorssia boys, poor, poor L-elf. The guy has gone depressed and is falling apart at the seams after the death of his beloved. He loved her so much that his mind has snapped and despite his great, uncanny intelligence, he could find no possible way that he could save his true love. Haruto is the only one brave enough to go to him, and he doesn’t know what to say to alleviate the pain. We know that L-elf will find a way to overcome this, but it will take time, and I think perhaps the only one who may be able to talk some sense into him may be the “Newtype ghost” form of Lieselotte.

Haruto is lost without L-elf and he’s got a lot of gumption and ideals with no plans to get him there. Haruto may be “The Boy Who Fights the World”, but L-elf’s “The Man Who Tells Him What to Do”, and without L-11 Haruto’s simply a weapon without a wielder.

Shoko’s returned, FINALLY, and she’s just as in love with Haruto as she always was. In fact, this episode she actually seems to be more into Haruto then he was with her this episode, but I think that might be because he was just to overwhelmed with all the stuff that happened to him. Haruto and Kyuma are the only ones who mentions Saki, and everyone seems to be having a good time while she’s stuck as POW of Dorssia….
But anyway, Shoko has been really doing her job here and is getting all the countries to meet up. However, all that goes down the crapper the moment that Dorssia’s Fuehrer Amadeus shows up and broadcast’s to the world a public execution. Saki’s public execution…and subsequently reveals to the world the existence of something non-human. Now the question will be how can the Magius prevent this fear that’s going to spread from getting out of control and affecting them as well?

Saki’s unfortunately has gotten her wish to be known to the world, but not in the way she wanted and I think this shall doom Neo JIOR and they will lose all the support that they had just fought for. Also, I think Haruto and his friends might also be in a lot of trouble among their fellow students as well judging from their responses to Saki. And that title “The Cost of Lies” tells me that Haruto’s going to pay for not telling Shoko the truth, and he’s going to pay dearly.

Well, this exposure to the world has created a whole other facet to this series, and I really can’t see how they are going to end this in 4 episodes. I’m betting that X-1 finding the information on the earring will be the key to exposing the Magius themselves, but that might not really help the Kamitsuki much, since the Magius have way more resources to protect themselves. We shall just have to see. Also, there’s the missing scientists and that reporter girl as well, and what’s with the reporter guy getting the info early? Is he a Magius too? Something is coming and it’s really not looking good for Neo JIOR. Next week everything’s going to go to Hell and hopefully by then, L-elf will be able to get himself together and save the day.

I give this episode a 9/10. It was full of suspense and full of tense excitement. I can’t wait to see how this is all going to fall apart.

Oh, and BTW: I did see the cameo appearance by the characters from the “spin-off” Valvrave: Undertaker, but they were pretty much worthless just as I thought they would be…

    • BlackBriar says:

(Thank you for doing an excellent job of that, ‘Shiki‘….)

I’m still hating that bastard Ozaki for that. There’s a limit for cruelty. Sheesh… At least the Magius didn’t go that far but I’d still kick their asses if I could. That’s an unconscious, defenseless girl, people.

  7. Irenesharda says:

As for L-elf, it’s going to take a lot to help him get out of this emotional hole he’s in.

It really made me sad that the first time Haruto visits L-elf, instead of giving advice and comfort, he’s asking for help and talking about vengeance. He really doesn’t know anything about L-elf does he? (If you want to know how L-elf feels about vengeance, go back to episode 9 of the first season) If I was L-elf, I would have tossed him out too.

For L-elf I really hope that Lise comes back to him in some fashion because I don’t really think he’s ever going to give a care about anything ever again. This has completely shaken his belief in himself and he thinks himself at fault rather than any third party. That’s why the thought of revenge would never work. If Lise could just come back even for a small time and give him that push, it would go a long way. Without that, I don’t know if they’ll ever snap him out of it.

L-elf needs someone who understands. He either needs ghost Lieselotte or A-drei, someone like that. Shoko might have been able to say something, but even she doesn’t really understand. She lost her father, but her father wasn’t her whole life like Lise was to L-elf. L-elf’s entire life was a barrage of darkness and Lise was the solitary light within it. Without her, he’s completely lost and without a guide.

    • Foshizzel says:

Right I don’t expect him to bounce back after that dramatic event! Hopefully he returns to his old ways soon…

Haruto always needs L-elf’s help >.< True that it will be a long time before L-elf ever cares about anything ever again and it looks like he is on the road to revenge, but he knows Cain isn't human so that is probably going to prevent him from killing Cain or the Magus. Shoko x L-elf? I could see them getting together since both have been suffering a lot through this series.

  8. Irenesharda says:

Saki-”I could really use a pair of pants.”

LOL, Well, at least the Dorssians know how to treat their POWs after they completely exploit them on live TV. They were nice enough to give Saki a bath, a new gown, and hair ribbon. 😛

    • BlackBriar says:

That still doesn’t come close to making up for being run clean through the chest with a sword. Even though she’s immortal, Saki can still feel pain and that had to hurt like hell.

    • Foshizzel says:

Strike witches x Valvrave with Saki <3

  9. BlackBriar says:

Damn, Saki’s been getting the short end of the stick throughout the whole show but that broadcast of her exploitation was too much. It completely raged seeing Cain stab through her with that sword. At least the scene makes sense to the clip at the end of the first half of the show with Saki confronting him with a gun in hand. Obvious revenge.

The equal impact in the reveal will be on Shouko. If things get out of hand, she’ll be stripped of everything she’s worked so hard to gain.

Cain and the other Magius exposed the Valvrave pilot’s secrets but I hope they know they’ve also put themselves on the chopping block. But obviously, the public will be too consumed in a stupid frenzy to think clearly. The things that should be asked is how did they find this out and how long have the Dorssians kept it a secret.

L-Elf deserves his time to grieve. I mean, you can’t blame the guy. Everything he put into Lieselotte’s rescue ended up in vain. Hopefully he won’t stay that way, that he’ll wake up and find motivation in vengeance since Cain is the reason behind both their fates.

    • Foshizzel says:

I kind of laughed with Saki getting stabbed on that broadcast! Does that make me evil? LOL

Shoko gained so much and suddenly lost EVERYTHING in a matter of minutes especially all that support? DAMN!

I know right? Seriously Haruto needs to leave L-ELF alone so he has time to grieve instead of coming to visit him whenever he needs advice or help with some random issue! I swear Haruto has no brain power for himself.

  10. skylion says:

Ah, this is the ham fisted Valvrave I’ve come to know an love.

A potential backlash on the Magius by exposing Saki and the VVV pilot’s secret? Check.

A perfectly fine tactician brought low by the death of his beloved cause….dorama. A dorama we had like a half episode to get into.

The Magius possess people cause that’s the best way to stay protected, ignoring the fact that bacteria is a far more suitable host.

    • Irenesharda says:

      Bacteria?

      • skylion says:

Reproduces much more efficiently. Hardier. Can survive in more ranges of climates for longer. Or tardigrades? Yeah, they should possess water bears! Them suckers go dormant in a vacuum.

        • Irenesharda says:

Umm, also they don’t have long life-spans, are unicellular, can be consumed by viruses, and can be killed with heat and/or disinfectant. And all they do is eat, grow and divide.

I think the Magius would want a little more out of life then to try to squeeze their advanced life essence into a single-celled microscopic lifeform that doesn’t do much. I know I wouldn’t. Bacteria are okay, I enjoy viruses more, but I wouldn’t want to live as either. Yuck! 😛

          • skylion says:

Yeah, the softer part of science fiction got away with me…

So, thanks, no Magius Waterbear Overlords in our future….

            • d-LaN says:

Personally, I think “Body Jacking Vampires” sounds better than “Body Jacking Waterbears” XD

And I doubt Water Bears have enough semblance of a nervous system to work. (We are assuming Magius uses the nervouc system of the jacked creature to operate the body and whatnot)

            • skylion says:

But Body Jacking Waterbears are note likely to pies off BB…

And Saki having green hair in the bD box art suddenly made a lot of sense. Zessica anyone?

Btw, l-11 still can’t beat Kyousuke of LB! Refrain when it comes to depression 😛 This guy depression is so powerful it turn his surrounding black XD

  12. mexu2d says:

I feel so sorry for L-Elf but at least we know he has a heart, but now that means that everyone is going to have to step up their game since there main thinker is out of the pictfure. And OMG now everyones going to find out about the whole immortal thing, I wonder how that’s going to pan out. Can’t wait XD
