Unbreakable Machine-Doll – 05

Yaya: These rivals just keep coming out of the woodwork!

Now that Cannibal Candy is over with, we jump straight into the next arc.

World’s Best Assassin

Yuushibu called. They want their boobs back.

After defeating Cannibal Candy, Raishin is faced with a new, formidable opponent: a clumsy assassin. As you might expect, she’s not very effective at killing our hero. But she’s certainly effective at providing more fanservice. As far as I’m concerned, she’s just another girl to add to Raishin’s ever growing harem. We already have the deredere and the tsundere, so Frey brings the ditzy senpai with big boobs. And that’s just about all there is to say about her. While we’re on the topic of new characters, we’re introduced to Frey’s younger brother, Loki. Unlike his useless sister, Loki appears to actually be competent. Fortunately, he’s high enough in the ranks to not be concerned with Raishin for the moment. Though it’s only a matter of time before the two cross swords considering they can’t stand each other.

Evening Party

Battle of the hard-heads.

We’ve been hearing all about the Evening Party, so it’s high time we got some more info on how it works. Basically it’s some sort of ladder scheme where those lower ranked have to fight their way to the top while those at the top sit back and relax at least for a while. Since Raishin just joined, he’s way at the very bottom as rank 100. So we see that Loki doesn’t have to face Raishin unless he personally chooses to. Which I expect will happen for one reason or another. And as for Frey, likely she’ll never have a proper battle with our hero as she’s too busy getting into questionable situations in front of him. Really, the biggest danger she poses is causing Yaya to explode into a fit of rage against Raishin. But Yaya wants the d so she’ll never damage her goods too much.

Loli Doll

So how does a doll grow there?

Speaking of wanting Raishin, another one of Shouko’s dolls shows up to help him in his investigation of Frey’s family. We’ve previously seen Irori, Yaya’s silver-haired “older sister”. This time it’s Komurasaki, the “youngest” of the Setsugetsuka trilogy. Appropriately voiced by Yui Ogura, this loli doll comes across as whimsical and manipulative. Despite being Yaya’s “younger sister”, she is able get away with teasing her elder sibling by using Raishin’s supposed affection as a distraction. That right there speaks volumes for either Yaya’s idiocy or Komurasaki’s sharpness. And for Yaya’s sake, I’m going to go with the latter. Seriously though, the way Yaya keeps going on about being Raishin’s wife makes you wonder why she feels so strongly about him. What could have left such a strong impression on the doll that she would even wish to be a real human?

Extras

Show ▼

I still can’t find anything really important to say about Machine-Doll. We just got through a lackluster conclusion to an arc, and we’re thrown right into another one. Except this new arc doesn’t even look as interesting as the first. All we have is a clumsy upperclassman with big boobs and some conspiracy with her family. Even with that “shocking” cliffhanger, I find it all exceedingly dry and uninteresting so far.  There is another brief flashback to Raishin’s past, but all it does is confirm that puppeteering is not his forte while his evil older brother is a genius at it. I guess for what it’s worth, each of these little flashbacks will slowly put the pieces together for us. But in the meantime, I can only hope that Komurasaki will be able to breath some life into the show.

    Show is losing steam….

    Quick, rescue it with LOLi!

That’s got to be a serious pain in the ass. So basically Raishin will have to fight on a daily basis until he reaches a high enough rank to be able to start avoiding some battles.

Keep going after Raishin, Yaya!! Yeah!! Unatainable dreams are the best kind! Hahahaha!!!

Frey may be a failure as an assassin but she’s great as eye candy and with a well endowed body like hers, she can give Yuushibu’s Phino a run for her money. Oppai for the win!! Issei Hyoudou would be proud. She may be ditzy but I’ve taken a liking to her and find her adorable. Her brother Loki is a complete ass, though. Why do most innocent looking characters always end up with assholes for their siblings that always try to put them down?

I like the concept of Yaya and Sigmund being friends away from Char and Raishin. Partly because Char’s ultra-tsun act gets a little old. That she reacted like she did to Yaya’s obvious winding her up about boobs was pretty dumb.

A Royal Rumble-style fight is pretty rough, especially for Raishin, being last. Are they going to have some cheatup shortcut (like SAO did)? Or are they going to show a montage of Raishin being badass to get from 100 to 1?

At the rate the show is going, Raishin really will need a shortcut or we’ll never see him reach the top.

Nope. This whole Night Party royal rumble won’t end that quickly. Raishin is really gonna go through everyone to reach the top, though not without a lot of detours like here. We’re not gonna see all of them though as this is just one cour.
