MetaFap: Fall ’13 – 04 [NSFW]
A New Nova, A New Knight, and A New Uniform
“Gibu Upu!” We’ll be dropping coverage of Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! because honestly, once the first Blu-Ray comes out, won’t we have seen enough of the series by then?
Freezing Vibration – 04
Charles’ bust size isn’t indicative of her strength
I’m not so sure about the opening scene, showing the rest of the fight between Satella and Gina from last week. Both the points of how Mark IV increases E-Pandora strength seemed evident enough in that news tease, and also Gina’s realization that she likes the world isn’t a particularly strong emotion to attach a viewer to. Although, in the anime’s ongoing crusade of vilifying Scarlet, we know that the fight was abruptly stopped because the whole 1st half of FV 04 would’ve happened in a public setting and opened more worms than Alaskan Base could hope to handle.
Great thing about Tempest animation is fanservice from many angles
Elizabeth is Amelia’s only hope at the moment
After Mably played it conservative against Gina and got cut in the back, Charles took over the fight and pretty much dominated Gina, save having her breasts exposed and top mostly torn. To think she’s even smaller than Attia Simmons… anyway, the difference in strength is evident in how Charles could make 8 clones with Typhon Tempest and her critique of Elizabeth not mastering either Accel or Tempest. And something to keep tabs on with Charles is Elizabeth’s observation of how faithful she is to follow orders that are given to her. It paints Charles as a government dog type that she follows orders “blindly”, and as things likely break further down with Liz trying to help Amelia and the E-Pandoras, we’ll see how Charles handles herself. Chiffon also is similar in her belief in the Chevalier system she is a part of.
Mably doesn’t want Satella and her family to help out
A scene like the credited one that closed out this episode had that season 1 feeling a bit, especially with Mably calling Satella “Junior”. I thought the scene with Volt Weapons being pulled out was kind of overdone, a violent scene that didn’t have quite the dramatic effect to pull off being the last thing we saw from the episode; Railgun S handled that aspect quite well, actually. It takes a step back from how positively they portrayed Elizabeth in episode 2, though her pride is certainly clear in wanting to make sure Satella doesn’t get involved for reasons. These two girls come from prestigious families that can have an effect on this arc, not to mention Kazuya’s grandfather who showed up last season.
Satella fanservice hasn’t quite hit its peak yet this season
Close this post out with the “Monster” showering. That body’s more angelic than monstrous.

Yuushibu – 04
Ceiling Phino is watching you… eat.
So maybe the trend for this show isn’t so much monotonically increasing like I had facetiously posited last week, but rather cyclical modulo 3. What I’m trying to get across is, this episode was awful, awful, awful, just as bad as episode 1. There wasn’t even an attempt at bad harem comedy, it was just a bunch of everyday events of people working retail. I don’t find the idea of watching every step of Phino’s progression into a competent retail employee to be stimulating. About the only thing of interest that happened this episode was the hint that Lam might be a demon as well, from her history at Lawson and her conversations with Phino.
On top of that, we got more casual sexual harassment by Star Trek guy, whom I didn’t think would be a recurring character. Sexual harassment can be and has been funny plenty of times in anime, but playing it straight and then having the harassee casually laugh it off as “skinship” doesn’t accomplish that. It just makes me more concerned for what kind of childhood Sarah must have had. I have to sympathize with Raul here in his flabbergasted reaction at being told to cop a feel too. But a straight man main character reacting wildly to the absurdities of the pretty girls around him is the lowest hanging fruit in ecchi anime comedy and ceased being funny years ago. They need to deliver another malfunctioning air purifier to Leon ASAP.
Gosh I hope she whips out a sword and murders him one of these days. Now that would be a fine Star Trek redshirt joke.
“Don’t be scared. We force all our employees to have high resolution photographs taken of them in uniform!”

Walkure Romanze – 04
Noelle getting her weekly handful
Mio wishes from afar that Takahiro was the one pushing her down
Oh Ayako-sensei, we shouldn’t…
Mio likes a big helmet
After the uneven quality of the last two episodes, I had a slight worry about this week’s Walkure Romanze: would it continue the good quality of episode 3, or revert to the cheap and tawdry, and pretty unentertaining, innuendo of episode 2? Well, the good news is that it was closer to episode 3 than episode 2 (despite my screenshot captions), although it didn’t quite match the excitement of that one. And nor did Takahiro really achieve his previous high of being engaging and providing good advice, but he didn’t revert to the groping klutz, either.
Fiona runs her mouth
The main thrust this episode (yeah, yeah, stuff it. That was hard enough for Photo Kano) was the unsanctioned duel between Akane and Lisa, set up thanks to the egging on of Fiona, who is quite a lot of mouth and a lot of getting Lisa to back her up. Actually, Fiona is a pretty tiring character, and I was hoping that either Takahiro or Akane would call Fiona out her instigation, that if she wants to talk about how the senpais aren’t that great, maybe she should actually do something herself. But that didn’t happen this episode, at least, and we end up with Akane, in about the coolest looking jousting armor, versus Lisa in her Black Knight guise. They fight to a tie, but before they can finish the duel, Noelle brings the news that Reina (the school’s wet blanket) is on her way to bust them, leading Takahiro to stop them with a totally unrealistic move, breaking both of their lances with his own as he jumps in the middle.
Super Takahiroooooo
But this show wasn’t devoid of Mio after her victory against Bertille. She had some significant time with Akane, talking about responsibilities of knights, starting with treating your equipment well (the same issue that started the jawing with Fiona and Akane). And Mio realizes that she loves jousting, and wants to keep doing it, especially after seeing Akane fight Lisa. So next episode, I’m expecting her official enrollment, but who knows what hoops she’ll have to go through. She’s got a lot of support, tho.
Best Armor: Akane

Yu-shibu. Yes, this was one of the worst to date. It’s a fair series, but the events as you point them out is exactly how I felt, lvlnn.
But then, I disagree with you with watching Phino grow into her own role in anything she does. Thou it is often overflowing, I find the character far to charming to resist.

I think I’m with you on this. For whatever reason, the series appeals to me, and so does Fino, even if she’s gonna be learning the ropes. I also thought there was an interesting subtext with Lam, is she a demon that noone really knows about?
POWUH: and LOLi Defender with 10998 comments
It has an unspoken charm to it. I cannot put my finger on it, beside my obvious moe/kawaii love. Yes, Lam has a bundle of trouble under that smile.

yuushibuu: Im sorry but ep 1 is still the worse ep to date; this ep follows its footsteps though. After that cliff hanger from last ep i was sooooo disappointed by this ep…still fino’s charm definitely pulled me through….i dont know what it is

Um, for the fanservice and random groping, maybe? 😉

I can’t say for you, but I’ve found it to be not bad, after that stinker of a second episode. And even that one wasn’t technically awful, it was just super ecchi cliched.
I do think the jousting fights are good, although there’s a bit too much movement at the moment of truth. And the story is actually sort of picking up. I still get annoyed at that OP, tho, when they have the horse jump into the logo pose, when it’s actually supposed to be rearing into that pose from a stop. No horse is jumping into a pose like that.

For teh CGI armor and epic horse animation?

Freezing Vibration – 04: I knew, given Gina’s condition, that she was going to be killed. The impact was even more painful after she started having a positive outlook on the world after getting stronger. It pisses me off these scientists don’t care whose deaths they end up causing as long as they get what they want.
Elizabeth’s feeling of insignificance when seeing Charles just goes to show there are stronger, more talented individuals out there.
Chiffon and Charles are too loyal to Chevalier. Working for a shady company that sees no problem burning through countless numbers of people for personal gain isn’t worth throwing your life away.

And Charles is just #4 overall rank. There’s Chiffon, Roxanne and Julia in front of her. Kind of hard to buy in to the concept that Julia is strong with her groping ways, but you’ll see later on.

Freezing vib – well give many sets of charles & e-pandora mark 4 being a sham yet with things going on yea indeed anything is on right on.
yushibu – fine working in lawson shop did some improve yet on magical best buy hmm too quiet.
& yet where is the female wrestling anime give i’m still one of those STILL watching yet saw ep.4 at least good news she finally conquer her crab fears & slowly grow better to see.

Yeah sorry about that I just got really bored blogging about the wrestling series, but also I am not a huge wrestling fan so I kinda gave up caring if Sakura would win or not…

Yuushibu – 04: It’s true that this is another weak episode progession wise but I did like watching Phino get more comfortable around people and establishing ties with them through work and does what she can to repay them in kind. Also, her opinion on humans is changing so I hope Airi can do the same about demons when she eventually finds out about Phino.
From the haughty attitude and insistance to adressed by her full name like some noble, I’m sure Lam is a demon as well.

Walkure Romanze – 04: A pretty solid episode compared to the previous ones due to the serious tone and hardly any innuendo. The girls here are more dedicated than I’d say, those of Infinite Stratos because they take so much pride in being a knight. I really liked that.
Obviously Mio was going to want to get back in the saddle. You could see it in her eyes as she pretended to be finished with it all. She had a first time experience and enjoyed it. Plus, it would’ve been a shame to let that kind of talent go to waste.
Takahiro seems to have gotten his edge back but unlike Mio, he isn’t sure about himself. A little more sudden bursts of excitement like stopping Akane and Lisa should change his mind.
Akane has a pretty impressive armor. Definitely custom made. Lisa’s isn’t so bad either. The show does a good job making armors that reflect their knight’s personality.
POWUH: Meta Team and Spammy Tamer with 7115 comments
Yeah, this was more of a heavy lifting episode, not a flashy one. I like that they’ve given the girls different armor, enough that it’s distinctive.
Well, if Lisa was right, Takahiro still has problems to work through. She said that his hand got numb after doing that.

@Fosh: It might be a shame that you dropped Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! when you did because thanks to Misaki’s personal motivation, Sakura is beginning to make progress. She didn’t win her next watch but she didn’t give up this time. Now Misaki is going to be training her personally and judging from the preview, it’s going tobe Spartan-style training. Plus, I think that character played by Hisako Kanemoto you wanted to see is going to show up as well.
