Fantasista Doll – 12 [END]
These girls are ready to kick some ass with friendship power!
I was debating whether I wanted to actually talk about Fantasista Doll, since I wasn’t overly fond of where the plot wandered to (minus the ending, where things got a little more interesting), but oh well. Here I am with Fosh.
———————————————-
Well the end of Fantasista Doll is here! When I originally decided to cover this series I had no idea how goofy and fun it would be each week, but will we get another season of this series? I could honestly see more or was it a good ending to end things on? Either way I had fun with this and this time Kara joined me to share her thoughts.

Card games are serious!
This scene though! Damn…
The ending with the whole Sonnet story became a little deeper, but honestly, Fantasista Doll felt really all over the place to me. The rules around the game, the wish granting, and pretty much everything that was outside of the character’s established personalities was just really, really vague. A lot of things could have gone places, but then didn’t. …Who even knows how the card fights work (though there is some humour there in the fact that chopping up onions is somehow considered an attack). The plot aside, I actually didn’t mind the characters though. The lovely designs were probably a large part of that (since nobody really had character development), and due to them, I really didn’t mind pretty much everyone being one dimensional. Of course, Uzume and Komachi had more development than anyone else, and in the end that was what made the ending struggle between the two interesting. …And then it was undermined by the last minute fact that even with Uzume’s dolls, Sonnet wouldn’t come back. They fought for nothing (other than the plot purpose of having Uzume finally grabbing what she wanted). So the end message seems to be “friendship solves everything.” …At least no one can claim that this wasn’t kid-friendly. I think this was too nonsensical and light for my tastes to begin with (though somehow I can sit through PreCure no problem), and the shaky plot didn’t really help keep me interested either.
Extra magical fun
Komachi-“You are really special aren’t you?”
I love the goofy team attacks~
Seriously Uzume give her a hug!
This is basically what happens when you torrent cute girl anime.
Thanks for watching!

Wow, perhaps the most moe mess of a show I have every watched. It was so unapologetic about having any meaning whatsoever. Cute, random, and gleefully incoherent.
BTW, that caption should read “Super Friendship Cannon WTF”

Hahaha yeah it kind of got messy in the middle and close to the end! Like what happens afterwards with Sonnet and Komachi? I WANT TO KNOW, but yes very cute.
True but I love that friendship cannon <3

I liked it better when it was made of random WTF parts.
POWUH: Meta Team and PreCure Mastah with 9203 comments
hahahah same! Imagine if they kept them random parts every time they used it? I would have loved that…

Then I bet they’d be shouting “WTF” in their minds every time.

Like Sasara always getting that dunce cap that mocks her appearance at every turn.

I think Fantasista Doll wins for ‘most earwormy OP song’. The show itself wasn’t bad, but was pretty swiss cheesy, both for holes and cheesiness. Having the dolls turn tsun repeatedly got old, and the Mutual Dream Assurance Group was kind of a dumb villain. And it was a little too ‘Power of Friendship!’ throughout. Maybe the best part was Uzume’s special attack cards: chopping onions, like whaaaaa?
The show was watchable, and if you kind of ignore the plot stupidity, it gets a lot better. It actually did feel like the characters were middle school kids, tho, because they were kind of idiots.

Ahahahh yeah the OP does get stuck in your head and it helps to be created by someone that deals with a lot of magical girl series…
Komachi was a crap villain! I completely agree and I saw the whole friendship ending a mile away and the attacks with the onions always cracks me up along with all of the other random attacks Uzume’s team used throughout the series LOL
Yep they probably should have just been middle school kids instead of high school, but thats like every other magical girl show so I take it as Fantasista doll trying to be a bit different? That said yeah 99.9% of the characters are so dumb >.<

Um, what direction was this show going? Whatever, it was good enough even if it was a big mess of moe. The cuteness somehow makes up for most of the flaws.
Komachi’s scenario shows what most likely happens to someone when they experience and severe loss, especially with someone like Sonnet. They become cold and numb to everything and everyone around them. She was callous shell of the happy-go-lucky girl she used to be and that can be seen when you look at her eyes.

At least it wasn’t a complete trainwreck I mean it was doing practically what every magical girl series does aka monster of the week and super friendship~
Komachi is a interesting character even though she fails as the end boss type, but her backstory gives her all the reasons in the world to become cold like you said BB

I enjoyed the show for the most part. It had a bunch of neat, cute things happen.
But for a train to wreck, it has to be built first. I think they had just enough background set up to make a push cart. So a push cart wreck. Filled with moe dolls. And they wrecked near me, so I forgive/thank them.
Oh, favorite team. Fosh, you left of the Panzer Vor team!

Aweeee yeah the Panzer team! I wish Uzume used the other cards she won instead of just her main team all the time, but I credit that towards the main girls having known voice actors xD

well give at least in the end everyone got happy ending on it all.
komachi got de-frost & got her sonnet back with letting main 5 dolls stay & give uzume their gift indeed all good.
the end.

I was only here for the cute girls. Besides being a mess, the plot was *meh.* And there was never any real feeling of menace when Uzume was attacked.
POWUH: and Vampire Lover with 11746 comments
I agree with not feeling any real menace. If anything, it all felt like one huge playground fight using dolls.

I stuck around for Uzume and the various card teams! I wanted to see if there were any more combos I still like the movie team and the sports team xD

card games are serious business…

At least you don’t get sent to the Shadow Realm when you lose, if you catch my drift. 😀

Maybe season two will include motorcycles!

Well…I don’t really have much to say about this show. It was…adorable? The designs of the characters were nice but other than that, I wasn’t a huge fan and the ending seemed very….random? Actually this whole series felt a bit random. Oh well, at least the girls had cool clothes.
POWUH: Meta Team and PreCure Mastah with 9203 comments
Yeah the character designs are cute and the story is kind of weak, but I never really had high expectations for this series because it looks really cute while Genei is darker and Fate/illya seems to be a combo of both so yeah we got a lot of different magical girl shows in the summer.
