You read Shokugeki no Soma too?

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I read that but I am not caught up I think I am ten chapters behind xD

    • Jrow says:

That’s a manga I might wanna get on board with now while it’s young (30+ chapters).

      • Foshizzel says:

@Jrow the ecchi moments are CRAZY! The girls eat the MC’s food and spaz out into fantasy world it always makes me laugh~

        • Jrow says:

Nice~ I just looked at some images, and you aren’t kidding about the ecchi stuff. And the girl wearing the blue bikini in the swimsuit pc is from that series; she’s got that Nami kinda look going on.

I thought this was going to be a good podcast, but you guys started off really bad that I had to stop listening to the podcast because of the generic ignorant Naruto’s animation talk :(.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahh sorry you felt that way but the you have to admit the animation was bad during some key fights…

    • Jrow says:

To be expected of you to have that reaction. You’re not really impartial to criticisms of Naruto’s animation work (or just Naruto in general) being a big sakuga fan and such. I know how talking animation is gonna go with you, so that’s a conversation I’d like to not have ever.

I hope you reconsider listening to the rest of the episode. Jean-Christian was a really good guest.

      • animeblue says:

Lol….Jrow I’m just tried of hearing the same ignorant comment over and over again when any anime goes off model or when an animator is given the freedom to convey something through animation alone

        • AllenAndArth says:

the animation IS bad during a few of the key fights… It’s the truth you can’t run from this, i’m still a fan of the anime and i’m reading the manga…and some of the opening suck…the animation from pein’s arc was terrible in my opinion…the opening was fighting dreamers
Naruto is still an excellent shounen piece the storyis great, the author grew with the series, because you can see differences on the drawings, take Kakashi for example… better take Gaara as an example…

  3. BlackBriar says:

Since Attack on Titan got added to the shounen list on the podcast, I’m sad you guys didn’t mention Mushibugyou. It got more fun to watch the more episodes pass by, a really interesting and underrated anime.

High five, Jrow!! Like you, DBZ was what initially got me into anime. After so many years, it’s still a classic. You just can’t beat it. Yu Yu Hakusho, Sailor Moon and the other Toonami shows shortly came after.

The only shounen series I’ve gotten back to (since episode 201) and am currently watching is Naruto Shippuden and it’s safe to say with its jumping back and forth between filler and canon material, it can be described as a figurative example of a roller coaster. Because I was so late, I couldn’t get into shows like Bleach, Hunter x Hunter or Fairy Tail. Right now, things are getting good in Shippuden since episode 321 when the real Madara Uchiha showed up during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

The animation quality thing is something I’ve gotten used to. It only seems to get better when there’s an event that matters like the fight between Naruto and Sasuke when they were kids fighting in the Final Valley or in Shippuden when they met up again after Sasuke dealt with Danzo and tried to kill Sakura. The studio is telling us where they are pouring in the money.

For the next podcast if possible, we could have Karakuri join in and maybe there would be a segment concerning otome games and their anime adaptions given that she’s practically the poster girl for stuff like that and she’d give her thoughts about the adaptions. Because right now there’s Danganronpa and there will be another otome game adaption anime in the near future. I don’t know, maybe her Onee-sama OC could come along for the ride.

    • Highway says:

I think you picked the wrong game adaptation to call ‘otome’ there… 😉

      (psst, Brothers Conflict)

      • AllenAndArth says:

Does everyone forgets about Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken
this one was what got me into anime…It actually was animated shortly before DB…Yu Yu Hakusho is still the best…Kurama Yoko got the best powers ever, kuwabara is still the funniest guy around, Yusuke is the most awesome protagonist(he goes of the usual hero’s by far) and the musics and battle theme are thrilling to this day

        • BlackBriar says:

Come on, man. You were on a roll giving praise to the awesome Yu Yu Hakusho characters. You forgot about Hiei. He was utterly badass, always there to cramp Kuwabara’s style when he wants to act macho and he gave us one of the best shounen attacks in anime history: Dragon of the Darkness Flame.

          • AllenAndArth says:

that’s because the cool part of him is the jagan…and black flames(totally forgot about it!Thanks), Yomi is much cooler(even if he looks like a character from a children’s TV show…lots of ears…really?!It makes me indignant to this day)

      • BlackBriar says:

Oh, then I should have said game adaptions plain and simple be they otome or not. I haven’t seen Brothers Conflict but I have seen Amnesia and Brothers Conflict by appearance looked like it has a lot of similarities.

    • Sumairii says:

We were only meant to discuss the “big shounen” shows, hence the lack of Mushibugyou. I’m personally still watching it and I agree it’s only gotten more interesting so it’s doing that much right.

    • Jrow says:

Perhaps my favorite single episode of DBZ was when Future Trunks went back to his timeline and beat the crap out of 17, 18 & Imperfect Cell. It’s mainly my favorite just because I loved seeing Trunks straight up pwn those guys in his return after the whole Perfect Cell battle. I remember Yu Yu Hakusho also, though I never did finish the anime.

Agreed about the whole budget thing. One Piece just did it where in episode 606, I looked at it as though they were saving money in an ep where not much happened. 607 was where they spent it with a good fight episode.

I’ve put in a message to those 2 about the idea. See if I can make it a reality. 🙂
