Metanorn Readers’ Choice Awards 2012

2012-awards-main

Results are in. Adios 2012, let’s hope for another great year ahead!

Aah yes, delayed post is delayed but I have too many things happening for me lately. Excuses aside, the readers voted results have been compiled! 2012, if not one of the most memorable years in anime still had a lot to offer; depends on your taste and favourite genre really. From our Readers’ Choice poll results, it seems only a few titles (Hyouka, Fate/Zero and Nisemonogatari) got noticed but take it from someone who watches 80% of whatever comes out; there are gems hidden in there so don’t only go for face value and check out the details! Some interesting stats on this year’s awards:

  • Around 21,000 total votes
  • More than 40,000 page views
  • Total comments: 450
  • Average time spent on page: 7 minutes
  • Highest poll votes received on Female Lead nomination, while lowest on the best Director
  • Characters category got the most poll votes, while Staff got the least

  1. Yvoon says:

WOOOT! K-ON MOVIE OF THE YEAR!! My life is complete.

Seems like Hyouka was a winner for most people. I couldn’t agree more. 😀

  2. Soul says:

guilty crown truly deserved all the awards in the music category!!

    • BlackBriar says:

“My Dearest” and “The Everlasting Guilty Crown” for best OPs!!! Honorable Mention: Tasogare Otome x Amnesia’s “CHOIR JAIL”.

    • Restia says:

      >three-headed monster from SAO, F/Z, and Madoka

only thing that deterred GC’s sweep ._.

  3. Highway says:

Having heard the songs from Guilty Crown, I honestly think everyone has Stockholm Syndrome from watching that crappy series (and latched onto the least horrible thing about it), although I do have to admit that the OP cut of My Dearest is much better than the Single version (which is boring). That’s an even better editing job than they did on Burst the Gravity for Accel World, which becomes about the cheesiest song ever in the single version.

    • D-LaN says:

Opinions, Highway. Sure it was derp, but we gotten our entertainment outta it XD

      • Highway says:

Yeah, it sounds like it was definitely entertaining, I just don’t get the love for the music that much. But then I don’t care nearly as much for non-Nagi Supercell.

        • skylion says:

Same. But All Alone With You, the 2nd ED for Psycho Pass has become a favorite.

          • BlackBriar says:

What about the first ED for Psycho-Pass, “Namae no nai Kaibutsu”? I find that it was on equal grounds with the second ED.

            • skylion says:

Just based on my feels for it, the 2nd is on mildly higher ground. More vocal range from a singer that threatens to sound like a warmed over Adelle; who does a great job of warming over her own performances IMO.

            • Highway says:

I honestly haven’t been attracted much by the music for Psycho Pass. The first OP wasn’t too bad, but got old quickly. The current ED is probably the one I listen to the most, mostly because they keep extending the show into it, not because I think it’s that good. And Nothing’s Carved in Stone makes a good song, but Out of Control is way below Spirit Inspiration (or Lighthouse, the second song on Spirit Inspiration. skylion, if you like prog at all, take a listen to that: 7/4 time).

            • skylion says:

              ::trots of to find music::

Oh, and spammy has been nibbling at me….

        • Kyokai says:

In the end, GC did only one thing right: music.

          • BlackBriar says:

Oh, come on, Kyokai. Don’t forget the character designs and animation. Redjuice deserves as much recognition as Supercell for contributing to a train wreck like Guilty Crown.

            • skylion says:

I think the conductor of that train; the same series composition writer that marveled us (well maybe only me, and certainly not marveled, the opposite of marveled) with Seikon no Qwasar II might be the best to blame.

        • Restia says:

Highway, Nagi sings lots of Touhou arrangements for Shibayan ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

btw have you heard Flaming June then? :>

      • BlackBriar says:

Epic train wreck of Fall 2011/Winter 2012. The entertainment was mostly from the animation, character designs and music. Redjuice and Supercell make a very good reason to watch it. The idea of pulling weapons from people’s bodies was interesting.

        • D-LaN says:

Not to mention most of us care for the side cast more than the main cast XD Tht and the unintentional comedy moment like MY RIGHT HAND OF KINGSSSSSS ROFL

          • Kyokai says:

Also, let’s not forget the sacrifices of Truck-chan and Launcher-kun!

          • Foshizzel says:

RIP Limo-kun, truck-chan and all the others! Mostly OH MA SHOE and his missing arm-kun! You will be missed.

            • BlackBriar says:

Have you forgotten Hare’s tragic death? She died in Shu’s arms and she was the sweetest character there. Her death had so much impact that it made Shu insane. Hare is a girl that would definitely be missed.

  4. draggle says:

Tsuritama didn’t even get 14 votes for best soundtrack? What is wrong with you people.

    But yay on Mayaka winning.

    • Kyokai says:

Compared to the big wigs on OST category, I don’t see Tsuritama winning; though, it was pretty commendable. I thought Sakamichi would win but oh well, GC.

    • Restia says:

      ENOSHIMAAAAA

I like Tsuritama’s opening, it was good and catchy, but GC’s music overall is a clean sweep on everything~

  5. Overcooled says:

We all know that Phi Brain is the real winner here.

    • Foshizzel says:

      +10000000000000000 to this

      • BlackBriar says:

+10000000000000000 to this? That’s not right. I say we double the number.

    • BlackBriar says:

Puzzles are life itself!! LOL When is season 3 coming? We have to jump start the Phi Brain cult again. Your orders, master.

    • Kyokai says:

      Of course!

    • D-LaN says:

      ……….Did I just miss a hype train?

      • BlackBriar says:

It would seem so. Marathon the first two seasons of Phi Brain to be on time for season 3 if you don’t want to miss the train again. 50 episodes right now. Good luck. Hahahaha!!

        • Restia says:

          I only finished season 1..

          • BlackBriar says:

Have you been broken in by the world of puzzles? We need a new member in the Phi Brain cult. 🙂 Only season 2 is left for you then and in my opinion, it’s an improvement from the first.

            • Restia says:

alright then, I guess I’ll try finishing Season 2 before Season 3 rolls around~ I like puzzles :> the little slidey ones lol. I don’t get rubix cubes though ._. how do you, how even, I don’t know.

            • belatkuro says:

As much as it pains me but count me in on that cult. I also finished both seasons of Phi Brain and am waiting for the 3rd season here(not really but I’ll still watch it).
              So yeah 😉

        • D-LaN says:

*silent screaming* Oh well, tht or reading anime blog for each episode summary.

      • Highway says:

This is another train I missed. I’ll probably skip it, too.

I’m too busy on the skylion Express to Rom-Com-ville.

        • skylion says:

Soon to be opening lines to Red Data Girl, Date-A-Live and perhaps (non-Euclidian geometry permitting) Nyarlko 2!

          • Highway says:

I only learned about Red Data Girl like a week ago, and I’m so looking forward to it. Hayami Saori as a lead Miko and starting this week! Happy Birthday to me!

            • Muir says:

Red Data Girl just aired! New season slips in like a ninja.. Cyclops Shoujo [mini-series] already aired too. But it’s just those two. Next latest release will be Date A Live~ (super lovely~) on the 13th, and the real season shift begins 16th-27th (time for carnage again) I’m catching up to new recent releases right now, just finished Mondaiji.. ; – ; NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IZAYOI + SHIROYASHAAAAA

*this is Restia. And. I swear this is my last name change. I swear.

            • Muir says:

I lied. I read that wrong, I meant 13 DAYS and 16-27 DAYS

  6. tatsuya says:

after seeing all of the vote ..1 word ..Hyouka zzz btw ..my dearest was made by supercell ..doest matter who sang it..supercell owned it ~~

    • Highway says:

Huge difference in appeal for me with different singers. Plus, with My Dearest in particular I find it overly bombastic and reaching too hard to be epic, instead of just BEING epic like Kimi no shiranai monogatari or Sayonara Memories.

      • Kyokai says:

I think it depends on taste really. From your comments it’s more of nagi vs the new singers: Koede and chelly. For me, I loved all nagi songs but I do like some of the new ones too.

        • Highway says:

Well, it’s also the music. Like I said, My Dearest feels like it’s *trying* to be epic, instead of just ending up being epic because it is. That’s the same thing that bugs me about Muse (the English band) in later works. Exogenesis was trying to be epic, Knights of Cydonia just ended up epic.

      • skylion says:

When it came to GC, nearly every single aspect of the show tried to darn hard. If they had only made it the Tsgumi and Ayase show, things would have been Legendary.

        • Foshizzel says:

I wanted Ayase to turn into the new main character after Oh Ma Shoe turned into Oh ma Hitler at the end, but Mr Shoe changed his ways! That said Ayase > Shu any day of the week.

          • skylion says:

That said Ayase > Shu any day of the week.

That said Shinobu > Tsugumi >Ayase > Shut any day of the week.

There, fixed that for you. But I might have gotten carried away.

  7. BlackBriar says:

Around 21,000 total votes? Wow. More than 40,000 page views? Amazing. Total comments: 450? We can do better than that if given the chance. 🙂

To be honest, where the Best Female Seiyuu and Loli Princess categories are concerned, I knew Kana Hanazawa and Shinobu were going to gain the most votes. With a massive fanbase the two have, it’s near unthinkable that they wouldn’t win. For Hanazawa’s best role, it was surprising that Sengoku won since she only appeared in one episode of Nisemonogatari.

Guilty Crown is reeling in a lot of awards. For a train wreck of an anime, it was entertaining and had eye candy animation and music on its side. It’s looking so biased here that it’s almost like the Twilight MTV movie awards with the categories being dominated by one show.

    • skylion says:

I’m surprised with the Sengoku votes as well; seeing as how most of the rest of the category was very small roles, her turn as Ichiko had much more solid to it, in a show that had instant appeal. I put Karuta out there because I felt her understated performance perfectly matched the character; making moments like “Peking Duck!” that much more enthusiastic.

And yes, Shinobu is all the win. I take all the credit for this, of course.

      • Kyokai says:

It’s a sad fact that people just vote blindly on the basis of their own popularity chart. The reason you see Hyouka OVA winning or it even bagging the surprise series polls, when clearly there were many contenders better off than this. Half of the people who voted on HanaKana poll didn’t watch InuxBoku SS or let’s say Binbougami ga! at all. They just clicked on Sengoku because of Nisemonogatari’s popularity and overall likability.

    • Restia says:

Metanorn needs to plug there external pages more :< you guys only have like 400 likes on fb~ 🙁

    • Restia says:

Digimon Yuimon was winning for a small bit of time on the polls against our loli-vamp. but definately best female seiyuu is just a straight win for HanaKana, no other seiyuu can go against her XD

~trying to find the Drama CD of Idol Pretender that was released in February.. HanaKana was in it, probably as Chinami

I wished Roromiya won too :< Nadeko barely had a role in Nisemono anyways

    • Highway says:

For best HanaKana role of 2013, I’m inking in Little Busters! Suginami there right now. Those 3 lines were awesome!

  8. T.K. says:

Seeing Guilty Crown sweeping the music category is a bit overwhelming but the OST is still very commendable so I’ll back off. The only thing that surprised me though, is the badass weapons category, why wasn’t Gate of Babylon in there? I’m disappointed but I guess that’s the hive mind consensus. XD

    • skylion says:

Actually we all had a chance to nominate in the lead in to the actual voting. I was made aware of that when I missed the opportunity to elect the Oda Nobuna ED for it’s category.

    • Kyokai says:

Just as skylion said, most of it was our readers nominating stuff. Though, you should be happy with Gil sweeping off all the bishies for the award. This one did surprise me. XD

    • Foshizzel says:

As Kyokai stated early in the post if one positive thing can be said for the world of Guilty Crown: At least they got the music right.

    • T.K. says:

Yeah that’s true, Gil-kun sweeping the bishie awards was entertaining too. I didn’t know about the chance to nominate though, darn.

  9. Ceyrai says:

[Wow haven’t commented in Metanorn in a while.]

Do agree that Guilty Crown has the best OP and ED. Never mind it was written by Supercell – My Dearest was one of those songs that literally got some physiologic response from me (read: an adrenaline rush and a strong urge to cry). I’m a little sad that the K OST didn’t even make top 3 though, it was one of those OSTs that had the most personality to me.

Despite knowing how much merit Hyouka has in terms of plot, animation, and characters, I’m surprised it won over other series with more, well, epic settings. I guess this is where I learn that “epic setting” does not really translate to epic series. I mean, look at Guilty Crown – it had so much promise that fell short, while Hyouka just took “high school slice-of-life” and wrung it out of whatever epicness that genre could ever provide. What a contradiction.

Also, I must be the only one who hasn’t watched Fate/Zero yet. Seeing the results now… well, I know what I’m marathoning first thing when my vacation rolls around.

    • skylion says:

I haven’t watched Fate/Zero either. Interesting point: Steins; Gate was the big winner last year and I never got around to watching that one yet.

      • Highway says:

        I haven’t seen Fate/Zero or Steins;Gate either. Darn anime noobs…

        • Kyokai says:

          Welcome back, Ceyrai!

K was in top three for best BGM so at least it did prove that the OST had merit. About Hyouka, I did like it but in terms of poll voting I was pretty astounded at it sweeping most of the major categories when a lot of other better series were out there.

PS: I should just troll you guys and ban you from Metanorn until you finish watching Fate/Zero! 😛

          • skylion says:

            ….

          • BlackBriar says:

PS: I should just troll you guys and ban you from Metanorn until you finish watching Fate/Zero!

Don’t do that (Obviously you’re kidding)! I need everyone to have awesome conversations. Especially these two. Even Restia makes things interesting. It won’t be any fun otherwise. 🙂

          • D-LaN says:

Good, you will troll them to watch Fate/Zero while I will make them watch S;G KYAHAHAHA~

            • BlackBriar says:

I’ll press my luck here. I haven’t gotten around to watching Steins;Gate. How do you intend to persuade me? 🙂

            • Restia says:

I haven’t finished it but it’s pretty interesting, pretty cool how it’s about time-travel and an ACTUAL PERSON who claimed to be a time-traveler oAo wtff

            • Kyokai says:

BB? S;G was awesome! Should I call your master aka OC? Miss Sadist won’t be happy with you not watching S;G as she blogged it.

          • Ceyrai says:

OAO AUGH NO KYOKAI-SAMA I’LL BE GOOD.

But yeah I should really get around to watching Fate/Zero, and Steins;Gate too. Damn anime n00b is right. >_< To think I'm only persuaded to watch S;G because of how much I love Robotics;Notes. :))

…so you really wouldn't recommend Fate/Stay Night, not even to get a feel for Fate/Zero? I have it sitting around in my collection for years but I never got interested enough to break it out of packaging so to speak 😛

            • Kyokai says:

              Ahahahaa!

Let me tell you one thing, fate/stay anime doesn’t even touch the glorious qualit of original VN. This is the reason you see TM-tards scoffing at others for liking it. Though, as an anime it was okay for its time but as you won’t miss any plot pointers or even world view because everything is described in detail in Fate/Zero, you are really not missing out in anything.

      • Restia says:

        I watched up to ep 4 of Fate/Stay… ._.
And like ep 14 of Steins;Gate. I need to finish all these, good thing I’m not the only one who didn’t watch these yet~

        • Kyokai says:

Who told you to watch fate/stay?! D: That’s a horrible anime! Go watch Fate/Zero, the epic of ufotable after Kara no Kyoukai movies.

PS: You’ll find this educating: http://metanorn.net/2012/12/12-days-of-anime-10-type-moon

          • Restia says:

But isn’t /Stay the first one? I felt like I needed to start with that even if /Zero was the earlier one chronologically

Ah, I’ve seen that post before, didn’t read it though, I’ll do that now~

            • Kyokai says:

As Fate/Zero is the prequel, so fate/stay night doesn’t give much except for some character introduction. Also, anime is shit and if you really do want to check out something; VN is the best choice for fate/ anything.

            • Restia says:

I’ve never gotten around to VN’s for popular series like Umineko, Fate/Zero… I probably should. but I’m too caught up in TSURIOTSUUUUUUUUUUU!!! THE SEQUEL IS ANNOUNCED OMFG YESSSS. I also lovelove Yuzu-Soft, can’t wait for their next release Amairo Islenauts in May~

            • Kyokai says:

Hahaa, you should! Btw, Fate/Zero is not a VN but light novel by the Urobutcher.

            • Restia says:

wat. I’m confused now. lol. But I like light novels too~ I’m on Volume 4 for Date A Live, and Volume 6 for SEIREI TSUKAI NO BLADE DANCEEEEEE, and I’ve read a bunch others. I tried helping out as an editor once in Baka Tsuki. For one day. lol. It turned out pretty much exactly like what happened when I tried to translate (not Japanese, Korean) I GOT BORREEDDD ;A; I’m such an unproductive person in any community

            • Kyokai says:

I think all your confusion will go away if you read the TM article. I wrote it for all those new people getting into TM awesomeness. :3

            • belatkuro says:

I’m a bit soft on the FSN anime simply because that was the one that got me in the Nasuverse(or at least, made me read the VN). I don’t join in the bashing of the show but I can understand all the hate for it.

I say let them watch the anime so that they can join in with bashing the show :))

  10. skylion says:

I’m happy to see the warm response to Hyou-ka. As said, it didn’t have the epic setting of a Fate/Zero, yet it managed to soar high just on the strength of character development.

BTW. I hacked everyones computer and all your votes for Shinobu were actually my votes. And BB’s don’t count at all. I would have gotten her into other categories, but I wanted to reign in any suspicion.

Good to see that Chu2Koi, my personal fav in many areas got such a warm turn out. Could have been higher for Rikka-chan, could have been higher for Nibutani/Dekomori but thems the breaks.

Also very happy to see the turn out for Chihayfuru, a favorite that I thought would have had been stuck in niche appeal. Good show, folks.

    • Kyokai says:

I think Shinobu would have won anyways. Loli powers are strong in this one.

I’m happy with Chihayafuru myself. More people need to watch and follow it till this season!

      • skylion says:

Yes, but I made her win, and BB didn’t. This is important to the drama of the forum.

        • Kyokai says:

Alright, alright. Let the drama continue on~ *waits to see BB’s comment*

          • BlackBriar says:

Alright, alright. Let the drama continue on~ *waits to see BB’s comment*

Ask and ye shall receive, Kyokai. Both of us supported Shinobu’s win. I, with the vampire part and Skylion with the loli part. It was a 50/50 agreement and now he’s hogging all the glory. I’ve got a good mind to pursue him with legal action. However, I don’t know anything about hacking any computers. I’ve got an alibi. Um, I was catching up on some vampire mangas. Yep, that’s what I was doing. 🙂

        • BlackBriar says:

Is that right, sir? There’s going to be a penalty for betrayal and this is the worst form of it. Prepare yourself. 🙂

    • Foshizzel says:

I predict it will be a tough tournament for the loli themed characters of 2013 awards! I can almost bet money that Mondaiji will have the most loli characters nominations next time! That series has the likes of Shiroyasha, Sandra, plague loli, Maid/vampire loli and so many others.

      • skylion says:

I predict that 2013 shall be the Year of the Loli. I know I predicted the same thing last year but this time is different.

        • Highway says:

If last year wasn’t “Year of the Loli” with Sagara Yoshiharu no Loli, I don’t know what this year could do to out-loli it.

          • skylion says:

Izayoi could quite possibly give Saru a run for his money in the no Loli department. But Iza is a bro first.

            • Highway says:

Are you counting Jin Russell as a loli? 😉

            • skylion says:

              Oh my, no.

            • BlackBriar says:

Are you counting Jin Russell as a loli?

Whoa!! Big misinterperation there, Highway. Jin is a guy and therefore is known as a shota.

            • skylion says:

And Izayoi is a bro. Just saying that Mondaiji almost has Oda Nobuna no Yabou beaten in the Loli department for characters. If Iza was more lika Saru then it would be competing in nearly the same turf.

              Sadly, ONnY lacks golems.

            • Highway says:

Well, without Jin, all I’m seeing for lolis is Shiroyasha and Leticia half the time. I wouldn’t even put Lili in that category. So Izayoi’s count is 2, while Saru had what, 5? Hell, he had 3 in his normal Loli Force (Goemon, Inuchiyo, and Hanbei), and then a couple more hanging around back at the base.

            • skylion says:

Lili is in that category, as is Sandora and the Loli of the BubonicNot that Bad Looking ::Cough Cough Die:: Plague, Pest.

            • Restia says:

I predict that 2013 shall be the Year of the Loli. I know I predicted the same thing last year but this time is different.

^yes. Kuuko is returning for season 2 =w=, Date A Live brings our Rabbit-loli to anime, Kuroneko & Oreimo crew returns etcetcetcetc YES

            • skylion says:

Indeed. The hits just keep on rolling. LOL.

  11. Highway says:

In terms of voting for winners, I think the only winners I voted for were Hyouka-related. I didn’t even see a lot of the shows that won a lot of stuff (Fate/Zero I’ll watch sometime, GC I won’t).

    • Kyokai says:

Really, you didn’t miss anything in GC. The only thing I’ll recommend is to DL all OSTs and extras.

    • Foshizzel says:

Personally I didn’t LIKE Hyouka all that much, but I was really happy that it was not another cute girls doing cute things like K-ON and it was refreshing to have a non loli character turned super detective saving the day EVERY TIME and thankfully there were no life threatening cases! Besides that time when our main duo got locked in that storage shed >.>

Fate/Zero is better in marathon mode and I am sure Kyokai would agree! For me I have to say that the first half felt really really slow, but I KNOW why they had to take it easy xD

GC is well a odd ball series I would suggest turning off your mind in terms of worrying about the story? While it looks fantastic and the OST gets you into things if you pay attention to the real story you will be very angry afterwards! GC is another series that is better in marathon mode.

      Good luck!

      • skylion says:

So you are saying that Hyou-ka would have been improved by loli’s and songs about ball point pens?

        • Restia says:

          HyouK-on!? oAo wut.

btw. You guys have seen KyoAni’s gay swimming commercial right?

Petition for making gay swimming into an anime needs less than 2k signs. Come on. Everyone wants gay swimming.

          • anaaga says:

            HyouK-on!? oAo wut.

…. I-I can’t take this *run away crying*

And everybody better be signing that petition. EVERYBODY AS IN BB HIGHWAY SKYLION EVERYBODY

            I need my homos

            • skylion says:

HyouK-ON! Chitanda transfers to Sakura Girls Academy joins the light music club, and sings a duet with Ritsu. Meanwhile, Yui has gone missing. But no one is really curious as to where she has gone….

            • skylion says:

…and I’ve already petitioned many many times.

            • BlackBriar says:

You really had to call out the big guns for motivation on this petition, didn’t you? I admire your ambition (and also desperation, it seems). 🙂

            • Highway says:

They can make whatever they want. KyoAni could probably make a yaoi series that I might want to watch.

            • Restia says:

last spurt! lol less than 200 signatures left oh gosh

            • Restia says:

              >_> Ahh, this is just going to be another one of those neverending petitions again. They added 5k signs to the requirement.

            • Kyokai says:

I’m just amazed there’s an actual petition!

        • skylion says:

I would watch Hyou-Kon (or however you spell it). I would love to see Chuunibyou demo K-ON de ga shita, and the Disapperance of Azusa Nakano. These would be top quality.

          • skylion says:

Azunyan Market, however, would be top tier.

And can we not call this gay? It’s not that I find it offensive, just juvenile.

            • Restia says:

I apologize for that ._. I am ashamed, I’ve been devoured in urban slang. I would edit that, but I can’t.

            • skylion says:

It’s cool. After all, we have the much better term: Yaoi. And for the record, I will take the Yaoi Swimming Anime.

            • Highway says:

We already HAVE Azu-nyan Market. Who do you think Anko is?

And the swimming guys are just bros. That’s all. Really hot bros.

            • skylion says:

The are really hot bros. But I feel there are stronger forces at work here at MetaNorn that can qualify the yaoi element.

            • skylion says:

Highway, please do not confuse the Red Bean Paste Loli, with the awesomness that is the Six String Mutang Wielding Wonder Azu-Cat. This will not do….

            • Kyokai says:

The hawt swimming bishies is KyoAni going for a bigger share in the profit pie. Hey guys, bishies sell just as lolis.

            • skylion says:

              ‘That’s not true. That’s impossible!”
“Search your feelings Skylion, you know it’s true”
              “NOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

            • D-LaN says:

Dammit skylion, don’t make us fight your shadow for you! I can has your persona?

A swimming anime with kyoani budget would be interesting ;P So is the fan outrage XD I just hope tht it has a good story tht all.

Some of the kyoani CM looks pretty interesting lk the action-y Kyoukai no Kanata CM. Kyoani action show when?

            • Highway says:

Anko in 5 years = Azunyan. She totally wants out of the mochi shop, and a Fender Mustang (that unfortunately doesn’t really sound like one, the sole failure of the series) is her ticket.

            • skylion says:

No No No. ::la la la can’t hear you::

            • skylion says:

If I may paraphrase Yui, “Azu-nyan is Azu-nyan”. A bit recursive, on two levels, but there you go.

Tell, you what, I split the difference.

              MugiMarket….

    • BlackBriar says:

I recommend you see Fate/Zero sooner than later. The story is well thought out with tragedy and vile, villainous characters as well as noble and sometimes idealistically naïve heroes. Not to mention that the one heading the scipt is Gen Urobuchi. The very author behind Psycho-Pass.

  12. D-LaN says:

Huzzah! Broskander won the Male supporting Role \(^w^)/

Lol I feel bad for hardly taking part in these competition…. But at the end I still voted for some of it so yeah?

Also, no one enter Fate/Zero for Animation? o_O Though kinda glad Zero won the Anime of the Year 😀

    • Kyokai says:

Broskander ftw~! And ho-shit, Fate/Zero is tied with Hyouka on Animation (check the spoiler tag), but while making graphics I totally overlooked it (will fix it from home first thing!).

Hehehehe… This is what happens when you’re late to the party. And this is a big party.

      • Restia says:

        :/ I haven’t been commenting much since I’m not caught up on any animes OTL schedule is packed lately *fist pounding* ;A;

        • BlackBriar says:

I understand your situation perfectly because it happens to me also at times. I wouldn’t think of commenting on a show unless I’ve seen the episode beforehand. And I see you’re making up for absences by your recent comments. You’re almost to your 200 comment mark. Keep going!!!

          • Restia says:

I should already be at around 250 (a big number for the tiny Restia) from my YY account~ haha

._. things I change too frequently:

            username
            avatar
            passwords
            accounts

I feel like changing my name again.. UGH no! fight the urge!

    • skylion says:

I am BB is one heck of a mouthy person

      • BlackBriar says:

I don’t know whether to say “Oh sure, pin it on the other guy, why don’t you?” or “Flattery will get you nowhere, my friend”. Your comment has me conflicted and it doesn’t feel right. 😉

        • skylion says:

This will only continue until you surrender the Lolis. Really it’s all your choice….

          • BlackBriar says:

Very well. I’ll give you most of the lolis but the vampire kind stay with me. These are my conditions. Take it or leave it. 😉

            • skylion says:

This leaves me bitterly disappointed. I have thought you were a Vampire Lover of honour, but I see that I am sadly mistaken. I am sorry. I am sorry that I allowed your charms to blind me to reason…..

We shall we have to make you see reason as well. Indeed what?

            • BlackBriar says:

I do have honor but you know how hopeless I am when it comes to these bloodsucking immortals. They make me break my own code of conduct. I know I’m pathetic but I can’t help it.

            • skylion says:

How can one claim to be pathetic and yet give me terms?!

We shall soon see who is the superior master here….

          • Restia says:

            *shoves this at Skylion*

      • Highway says:

There is no question that nobody except maybe Fosh has the posting rate of BB.

        • skylion says:

Fosh is a force of nature, one that cannot be tamed. BB is just a loli poacher…

        • BlackBriar says:

Am I that intimidating? I don’t see anything special about it. I just enjoy these conversations. You guys come up with the craziest stuff and I noticed my commenting rate increased dramatically since you first started commenting here.

          • skylion says:

Aha! So you admit that I am the source of your power!

          • Highway says:

It’s not intimidating, just interesting to observe. And a lot of the commenting depends on the shows being blogged. Unfortunately a lot of the shows being blogged this season are ones that I’m not watching (Amnesia, Hakkenden, Unlimited, Chihayafuru), while the 23 I’m watching are kind of underrepresented (Too bad the writers got so busy, I totally adore Love Live!). But other shows have gotten more comments from me than BB (Did you even watch Girls und Panzer? And if not, why not, go watch it now!).

      • D-LaN says:

        BB!? lol

Srsly, you, BB and Highway is dominating the comment count and I don’t see Fosh there….

        • Highway says:

Metanorn writers aren’t in the counts. Fosh is over 5k, Kyokai is near 5k, I think Karakuri is around 1800+, Overcooled at 1400+. I might have those last two reversed.

          • Highway says:

Whoops, totally wrong on Overcooled: almost 3800.

          • BlackBriar says:

Pffft, nice. You’re making this sound as if we’re in DBZ announcing these huge comment numbers like they’re power levels. Overcooled is close to 3800 and Fosh is in a league of his own. I’m just waiting for him to reach 9000 so I can shout the iconic anime sentence “It’s over 9000!!!”. 🙂

        • BlackBriar says:

The Vampire Lover’s influence is being recognized, it seems. I am leaving my mark so that future generations will know of me when I’m gone. Hahaha!!!

Dominating? That sounds like a kingdom imposing its will and if that’s the case, Highway would be the general of my armies and Skylion would be the head of the clean up crew. 😉

          • D-laN says:

Frm now on i shall associate you as BB frm Extra CCC 😛

Great! Now bring every1 you know to watch S;G! XD And I shall bug you until you watched it! XD

  14. anaaga says:

Goddamn it K-ON, I’m back from my “hiatus” and I just have to see your name there.

There better be a homo version of K-ON. At least get that swimming anime CM animated.

    I NEED MY HOMOS

  15. BlackBriar says:

2012 was difficult with the choices in categories but it looks like 2013 is going to be murder, especially in the loli category with Mondaiji hoarding a devastating bunch of candidates.

Also, I’m curious as to who the contenders in the villain section will be. I might be biased right now but my money for best villain is on Psycho-Pass’s Shougo Makishima. He does everything to make you want to hate him but you end up admiring him for being a sadistic, psychotic and charismatic badass.

Lastly, did anyone notice that no one mentioned Kore wa Zombie’s Kyouko in any of the categories? That feels terribly wrong.

    • Highway says:

I don’t even remember what character Kyouko was.

      • BlackBriar says:

Kyoko was a murderous magical girl in the first season but fell prey to Ayumu’s harem charm in the second after being released from prison. Her personality would mostly be seen as bipolar.

    • Gecko says:

Makishima really has it down for best villain next time around. I really can’t think of anyone else taking it over him unless there’s something random comes up and devastates him, but that would be really hard.

  16. Kyokai says:

Just for the record, fixed the Animation gfx to include Fate/Zero. It tied with Hyouka in polls for the first spot, just like the weapon category.

  17. Gecko says:

Nice job, Guilty Crown. Your worth has been found… only in music.
Nice job to Hyouka as well, although I didn’t like it.

    • Kyokai says:

It was good but not the best of the year but oh well, people have spoken.

      • Nuu says:

i think my comments are getting marked as spam, could you please help me -_-”

anyways, RIDER??????? REALLY??? What has this world come to? enough to almost make me give up on anime….almost
