Vocaloidism 04 – Musical Tales

Your dose of creepy stories… only now they have a tune <( ̄︶ ̄)>

Hay guys! These Vocaloidism posts are getting more and more frequent for now as my holidays are here and it’s time to PARTAYEEE! This also means I am generally in a super good mood to recommend you guys some awesome songs to add to your music library! 8D I would say that Vocaloid songs are unique and very different from mainstream songs as many of them actually contain elaborate stories which can leave a lasting impression in your mind. These songs can really evoke emotions from the listener, especially when watched with a good PV. So this time, I’ll be introducing Vocaloid songs that will paint a vivid picture in your mind following the themes of love, tears and darkness~

Love ・ 愛

01 | Ookami wa Akazukin ni Koi wo Shita – PokoHana

It’s your classic tale of Red Riding Hood – but this time, put into a song depicting a forbidden love between the cursed two. Pokota and Hanatan have covered this song beautifully, and the song is sung in two perspectives before they come together and build up to the chorus, which really gets you singing along. I personally love Hitoshizuku’s renditions of fairytales – it adds a new twist to the storyline and gets you immersed its world.
| Music/lyrics: HitoshizukuP & Yama |

02 | Sarishinohara – Soraru

This is one of the more interesting songs out there. I only recently found out it’s actually about the relationship between an ex-AKB48 member and her boyfriend (who was originally just a fan of hers). The lyrics are written from the guy’s point of view, and it talks about the confusing emotions he goes through as he watches her go about life as an idol, and how although the distance between them is drawing further, he still loves her more than ever. Soraru’s voice adds much emotion to this song and I really love the last chorus. Beautifully written music.
| Music: mikitoP |

03 | Yoshiwara Lament – Wotamin

Yoshiwara Lament tells a story from the point of a courtesan who was kidnapped when she was young to work at the red-light district of Edo, Yoshiwara. It’s a rather bittersweet song as even while she’s forced to do these sorts of things against her will, her heart still longs for her childhood sweetheart. There’s a really heartwarming happy end though, so do watch the PV till the end :3
| Music: Asa |

Tears ・ 涙

01 | Soundless Voice – Valshe

The first time I listened to this song I cried so badly and it got stuck in my head for weeks. This is only one of the many songs originally by Rin&Len that has one of them DYING (this seems to be a trend), but I particularly like this one because of the lyrics and the storyline. Len (or Valshe in this case, who is by the way, a GIRL. Though with an awesomely low voice.) sings about his final days with Rin as winter arrives. Do read the english translation of the lyrics if you’re interested, it’s really sad :c
| Music: HitoshizukuP |

02 | Alluring Secret ~Black Vow~ – GuriNaga

I realized I’ve been recommending a lot of HitoshizukuP songs, but it’s true that his songs about forbidden love, like this one, are always the most touching. This song is about unconditional love that transcends time – about the undying love of an angel willing to sacrifice her life for the one she loves. I won’t even talk about how depressing the ending is – WATCH IT YOURSELF. And then we can sob together. ;w;
| Music: HitoshizukuP |

03 | Shiwa (Wrinkles) – Kashitaro

Unlike the first two, this song, I should think, is one of the happiest and sweetest songs I have ever listened to. But it’s exactly because of that that I teared up at the end because it really captures the essence of a lifelong love. Shiwa follows the story of two childhood lovers as they grow old together. It has a really nice PV, and the last chorus’ lyrics are so touching – do check out the English translations if you’re interested.
| Music: BuzzG |

Darkness ・ 闇

01 | Alice of Human Sacrifice – Nico Nico Chorus

This is one of those songs that get stuck in your head in the middle of the night and continue to haunt you forever. It’s a creepy twist on Alice in Wonderland, and features 4 different “Alices” that get invited to Wonderland, but never quite make it there before something goes wrong. There’s a glass-breaking sound somewhere in the middle and it scared me to death the first time I listened to it. It’s best you don’t listen to this at night.
| Music: Yukina |

02 | Cantarella – CleaNero

This was actually one of the first songs I came across in the Vocaloid world. I fell in LOVE with Clear and Nero’s version because it is 1. incredibly sexy 2. perfect for bringing out the emotions of a ~forbidden romance~. The version I’ve embed has a lower quality but a better PV, and you need a good PV to understand the story so yup, you can check out HD version after watching this 😀 Somewhere near the end where they whisper “Tsumaete (I’ll capture you)” is really eargasmic with headphones 8) LISTEN TO IT.
| Music: Shana |

03 | Daughter of Evil – Kagamine Rin

This is actually the first part of a series that tells a story of a cruel princess (Rin) and her loyal servant (Len), and all the evil things she did to her people who eventually sought revenge against her. There’s a twist at the end though, as most Vocaloid songs do, but I think you have to listen to both songs (the sequel’s titled titled Servant of Evil) to fully appreciate the undying loyalty that Len has for Rin. Rin’s laughter in this song is sure creepy though, again, something I wouldn’t like to listen to at night xD
| Music: AkunoP/Mothy |
And again we come to the end of another Vocaloidism post! Really, every time I write one of these posts I get to revisit many songs that I might not have listened to in a long while, so it’s a really enjoyable experience for me, and I hope it can be the same for you too!~ I think from now onwards the Vocaloidism posts are going to be themed randomly like this unless it’s a special occasion (valentines etc) or if you guys want me to recommend you anything else! Feel free to comment below and tell me (☆^ー^☆) それじゃ、またねー!

I swear they have to stop dying  (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)

What is this, I don’t know any of the songs other than Cantarella and Daughter of Evil!? orz
I’ve read the story behind Sarishinohara but only listened to the song once.
I see quite a bit of HitoshizukuP songs and one HitoshizukuP & Yama but no Bad End Night or Crazy Night ><

    My incompetence aside, another good post as always. The song that made the most impression on me is definitely Alluring Secret. The combination of violin and piano is just "magical". The story's also pretty emotional and THAT LAST VERSE AND CHORUS ;_;

By the way, from what I see, all these posts could've been retitled to Utatteism instead of Vocaloidism XD

    • Miyu says:

HAHA it’s okay the point of these posts is to recommend you new songs anyway! 8)

Thanks Rakkyo!~ ♥ Yeah I only realized that I actually have more utattemita than the original versions only like at the 2nd post, and by then it was too late HAHA. In my defense though I have ONE original song at the end hehehe.

Yes, Alluring Secret is definitely an amazing Vocaloid song. I love it ^^ Though personally, I prefer the Rin/Len version.

Omg I love dark vocaloids, like Rin and her garden of hands. Did you ever watch the Return to Zero series with Len, Rin and Kaito. So tragic~ It’s really good.

Sarishinohara!! I love this song. I really like Ribu’s and clear’s versions. I’ve heard the story was between one of the ex-members and mikitoP, though. Not just a boyfriend.
What Rin & Len song doesn’t have one die? I think I saw one, once upon a time… Out of all the ones, though, I like “sigh” by iroha, since it tries to make the ending happy despite the sadness.
Cantarella sung by clear & nero was one of the first utatte songs I found. I knew of some Vocaloid songs by then, but then I discovered uttate wonders. And I was pulled in XD.
Good job on the Vocaloid/Utatteism post as always ^.^

  5. Namika says:

wow, such a nice surprize, more Vocaloid songs <3 i already added several of those songs to my YT playlist, will be downloading soon too :3 Sarishinohara, Yoshiwara Lament, Cantarella…. some of those I already knew, btw and that makes me kinda proud 😀 though I have to say that to me, original, Rin/Len Black vow is perfect and no other version can top it. <3 <3 <3

If you'll be making themed posts, try making a freaky songs collection. I already have a lot of them, but if you do listen to those kind of Vocaloid songs, I would love to see which ones to like. I'll share my favorites too, if you want :3

    Great work!!! o(^O^)o
