Unsurprisingly, Ai’s run comes to an end against two Saki girls. The faction decided to support Nodo-chan on this one, which means Momo got the short end of the stick. Sayonara Stealth Momo. ;__; On the other side of the bracket Senjougahara proved Ghostory isn’t out of the game just yet, taking out two relatively strong enemies and putting herself in the target of the Saki supporters. I’m looking forward to this showdown between Nodo-chan and Gahara, it’ll be a chance for both of them to prove something. For Nodo-chan, to prove the old Saki girls have just as much power as the new girls and Gahara to prove that Bake is a force not to be reckoned with, which shouldn’t be too hard with anti-Saki voters behind her. Plus there’s the added benefit of the results of the next group … (Voting Graphs: Nodoka / Hitagi)

TSUKIHI<3 She killed it in the votes, easily defeating all three of her foes. Rea’s show was quite disappointing. Kotori’s loss marks another in a long line of Round 2 iM@S defeats. Disappointing all around from them, but thankfully Chihaya and Iori can carry on the torch. Ako vs. Squid Girl was a pretty close match, but the former broke through in the end. Ika’s lose means only one girl (Astarotte) remains from last year’s final 8, as the Madoka girls weren’t in this years tournament and neither was Ruri. Ika’s loss might be partially a fault of the Koroco seiyuu incident, but who knows. Anyway, this means Group G comes down to a Ghostory vs. Saki showdown and I get the feeling it will be an intense one! (Voting Graphs: Tsukihi / Ako)

A bit of a surprise here, Airi defeats one of the most popular girls from Working! Poplar was in the lead all day, but a last minute switch put Airi in the lead. Ro-Kyu-Bo has been more impressive than I expected, but Round 3 will probably mark their end. On the other hand we had another close bout. Shana’s final tournament appearance has definitely increased her chances of winning, as Snow Black fell victim. Poplar’s defeat may have been strategic voting by Shana supporters, so I don’t expect Round 3 to be too difficult for Shana unless Saki gets in on things. (Voting Graphs: Airi / Shana)

The last of the Afternoon Tea Time girls remains strong, and even more impressively taking out a former winner. H2 marks the end of Working’s presence in Saimoe, disappointingly. Anyway, I’m happy to see that at least one K-ON’r made it through after last year’s sad showing. The other side turned into an Elsia vs. Sena duel, but Sena’s support proved too strong for the demon. Marika unfortunately barely stood a chance. This has been a great year for the newcomers of Haganai, getting two girls this far and having a good chance of getting at least one in the final 8. Mio might not be as difficult as she appears to beat. (Voting Graphs: Mio / Sena)

(FULL CHART: HERE)

Round 3 is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting final round before the Bracket finals. This year has definitely been a Saki year, much like how last year was a Madoka year. However, I don’t think Saki will have as easy a ride to the final 8 as Madoka Magica had. There are some serious threats mixed in the brackets who will give them a challenge for sure. Due to the sheer amount of Saki girls in the final 32 it will eventually lead to the Saki faction having to break into sides for their favorites, which is what might lead to their defeat. It’s been a very interesting year so far with some great matches and I can’t wait for more!~

My Updated Final 8 Prediction: Koromo Amae, Akari Akaza, Yayoi Kise, Nagi Sanzenin, Yuu Matsumi, Kuro Matsumi, Nodoka Harumura, and Sena Kashiwazaki.

Instead of doing regular predictions this week since I’ve already sort of made them within the last few weeks, I’ll just list some random trivia about the tournament this year.

  • 15 of the 32 remaining girls are newcomers, represented in 8 of the 8 brackets.
  • 10 of the 32 remaining girls are from Saki, represented in 6 of the 8 brackets.
  • 6 of the 32 remaining girls are voiced by Rie Kugimiya.
  • 7 of the 32 remaining girls have made it to the final 8 in the past. (Shana in 2006/2010, Nagi Sanzenin in 2007/2010, Louise Vallerie in 2007/2009, Yuuki Kataoka in 2009, Nodoka Haramura in 2009/2010, Koromo Amae in 2009/2010, and Astarotte Ygvar in 2011).
  • 4 of the 32 remaining girls have made it to the final 4 in the past. (Shana in 2006, Nagi Sanzenin in 2007/2010, Nodoka Haramura in 2009/2010, Koromo Amae in 2010).
  • 1 of the 32 remaining girls has made it to the final 2 in the past. (Nagi Sanzenin in 2007/2010).
  • None of the remaining girls have ever won.

Well, here it goes:

  • Highway (19th), Akagami (18th), Black Briar (17th), Kai (16th), and Yerocha (15th) have all been eliminated from MetaMoe. Better luck next time, and thanks for playing! Remember, Saimoe takes no prisoners kukuku.
  • Anemorj, Raiyuu, Roxalthea, Rakkyo, Samantha Zan, Gecko, Jrow, Kyokai, Karakuri, and Foshizzle are all hanging on with only one pick remaining in the game. It would seem that more will soon fall~
  • Enma, Thorgrim01, and Hawthorne are sitting in only a slightly better position with two characters remaining.
  • Tofu is sitting on his throne of moe with three picks remaining.

  1. Samantha Zan says:

OH NOES ELUCIEEEE!!!!! OMGers just Shana, hopefully she can pull through with her battle. (Oh plus high-five for Raiyuu for having Shana too :D, I’m with you soldier! XD). Ohhh Bakemonogatari seems to have a really good run with Hitagi and Tsukihi, I hope at least one of them gets into the finals!

Gosh I really can’t wait for the results of the next battles! Another couple days is too much AHHHH DX

    • Hawthorne says:

Judging from Shana’s vote totals so far compared to her next opponent, I’d say she has a really good shot! Seeing as this is probably her last tournament I’d love to see her do well. (Which reminds me … I really should check out Shakugan no Shana sometime …)

Oh and don’t forget if you want to stay more up to date you can always use this site: AnimeSaimoe. Right now Mei vs. Akari and Saki vs. Kobato are throwing down. Oh, that reminds me, you can also use this site: Ando’s Vote Tracker to stay up to date with the votes.

My next post won’t be until the 10th, half way through the third round. ;D

  2. Highway says:

Fosh got hit hard in Round 2, but that’s the round that really separates the girls from the… girls…

Whatever. Anyway, not surprising so many picks are out since we’re down to almost 1/10th of the original character in the finals.

It was fun and I learned a lot about how this contest works. I’ll definitely be better next year!

    • Foshizzel says:

Wuhahahah Ika Musume and Marika both lost this is sadness, but all and all I am having fun rooting for Yayoi! I hope she goes far xDDD

    • Hawthorne says:

@Highway: “the girls from the girls” XD These last two groups were especially hard on everyone’s picks, somehow a really large portion of them got placed in G and H. I look forward to seeing you in the next one! I wonder which factions will be in power next year? (I’m thinking Little Busters and Chuuibyou will have good potential. kukuku)

@Fosh: Goooo Yayoi!!!~ I’d be so happy to see a Precure make the Final 8 again. ´▽`

  3. AllenAndArth says:

ohh ako is still running o/ go ako, nodoka surviving too along with Sena

    • Hawthorne says:

Woo Ako!~ I have to wonder though, where will she fall in terms of popularity compared to the other Saki girls? Kuro and Yuu seem to be at completely different level. ⇀‸↼

  4. Foshizzel says:

My brother Thorgrim has a good chance with his two pics! It looks like things are down to Hawte/Tofu/Thorgrim for having more than one girl left…

    • Hawthorne says:

His all-blonde strategy seems to have paid off! XD I wouldn’t count anyone out just yet though, if Round 2 proved anything it’s that nobody is safe fufufu

      • Foshizzel says:

LOLOL Yeah I noticed a lot of blonde characters are progressing to the final-ish rounds? I guess it was a great year to be blonde~

  5. BlackBriar says:

A double shot again?! Both Rea and Yuki are out!! NOOOOO!! Well, I’ll use this defeat to do better in the next contest. And I was hoping that I’d get eliminated at least at the third round.

But on the other hand, my sympathy for everyone else. The casualties are rolling in fast. But Fosh has what I would say, bad luck. He lasted longer than everyone else with his banner intact at the beginning but he’s almost out at the same time as us.

Senjougahara won Metanorn’s ANTM so it’s no surprise she’d survive in Sai-Moe. She must be winning by threatening the voters with her stapler. Even Araragi is scared of her and he’s hardly human.

    • Hawthorne says:

You almost made it! D: Hope to see you around next time though!

Fosh had really tough luck with those match-ups, but (except for Marika) his picks almost came out on top every time. Those match-ups can be the death of you, especially with a large faction like Saki hanging around.

That’s right, I forgot about that. She has a title to live up to kukuku

  6. akagami says:

Well, that was fun while it lasted. Go go Senjougahara!

  7. Karakuri says:

Holy crap. I’m still in this. I like Ako enough, but I still hope that the anti Saki faction pulls through and Tsukihi survives another round xD

    • Hawthorne says:

If Kobato’s loss today to Saki is any indication, the anti-saki faction are going to have to work a lot harder! ⇀‸↼‶ (She did come super close to winning though!)

  8. Gecko says:

Holy cow. I have one left. Mio!! Go!!
(Although I can’t see her winning, honestly. I had no idea this Saki faction was so strong. I mean, it’s a show about mahjong… Or maybe I’m missing something here.)

    • Hawthorne says:

woo Mio!!~ 😀 Saki seems to have a lot more popularity in Japan, which would explain the support. Also, Saki has come really close to winning in past years, so they’re probably trying extra hard this time to get a Saki girl to win. At the same time, it seems like the anti-Saki faction is gaining momentum.

  9. Kyokai says:

    High hopes on Senjou left but seems like even the tsundere goddess is in danger. >>;

  10. D-LaN says:

Wow a lot of new party members join me!!! <3

Welcome to the Loser Party lol. No alcohols for underages 😛

Tofu and Fosh took a hard beating…. My why do I see a all KO end result.

Keep strong, surviving ladies!! Make sure one of you make it to the finals!! *Insert shounen stuff*

  11. Tofu says:

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! ;P But of course, it’s still anyone’s game ^^ Although I’d love Mio to win, her chances aren’t high. Go Ririchiyo! <3
