Haiyore Nyaruko-san! – 12 [END]

Do the main characters have enough energy to complete the final episode!? FIND OUT NOW!

Noooooooooo! This is such a sad day because we have reached the final episode of this addictive series, but who knows maybe there will be a possible season two in the works? After all everyone needs more Nyaruko in their lives. So, what can we expect to find this week? Hopefully we get a few random jokes and laughter this series always provides for me; anyway it is time to start the final review.Plot has Mahiro alone, but the aliens arrive just in time to save him from danger.

The disappearance of Nyaruko-san

Mahiro-“Damn these Sunday morning cartoons are terrible…”

Flying ball with wings or tentacle lizard monster, which form do you like?

The previous episode ended with Mahiro waking up to find Gutatan missing and he slowly discovers everyone else is missing as well, but he decides to take a walk and check things out for himself only to find the whole town has been diserted almost as if a real alien invasion happened! I don’t know about you, but if I was unable to find anyone in my town I would panic; wouldn’t you? Either that or start looting the stores… Anyway, Mahiro wanders around and suddenly he is attacked by a monster. Maybe he should have turned around and ran off? This is where things get all screwy as Nyaruko arrives along with Gutatan and her flying butler reveals his true form of a giant tentacle monster! Get latest updates at cmsmd.

The reappearance of Nyaruko-san

Mini Nyaruko-“Nyahahahaha! I HAVE ARRIVED TO SAAAVEEE THE WORLD!”              Mahiro-“……”

Two Nyaruko’s in the same universe? That can’t be good for Mahiro’s heart.

Kuuko-“Time to heat up this party.”                             Hastur-“Psshh whatever this party blows.”

Hooray Nyaruko is back along with Kuuko and Hastur as they fight the final end boss! So, what could Gutatan’s butler want from earth? ALL OF THE EROGE games of course because he really loves them a lot… So, yeah he used Gutatan to just to get to Mahiro just to get his tentacles on some games. As dumb as that plot was for the final boss I did laugh watching how excited he got over that; however, Kuuko, Nyaruko, Hastur, Luhy and Yoriko use their combined powers and skills to save the day. Nyaruko also successfully managed to escape without any type of “special” tentacle scene happening. Here at touroftoowoomba you can check other amazing series.

Happy endings for Mahiro and Nyaruko

Hastur-“Dude back off Mahiro is MINE!!!”                   Kuuko-“My yuri powers tell me to stop their union!”

After the defeat of the giant tentacle monster everything goes back to normal; however, Mahiro’s life was never anything normal because he does spend every minute a lively bunch of crazy aliens. Oh and Gutatan was the one who triggered Mahiro’s wish to be alone, but of course she didn’t mean for things to get out of hand like that. After that strange and heartwarming group hug on Mahiro we end the episode with a few shots of everyone hanging out, while they enjoy a huge outdoor BBQ, which means delicious anime food for us to stare at. However, I think we all know what that meat is made of right? That really keeps me from wanting any of that food.

Favorite characters

I can’t choose just one because I love all these characters.

While Nyaruko is the one of the best characters in this series I have to show some love to the other characters like Kuuko! That girl seriously had some of the best lines in the series, but most of them were sexual comments and not to mention every time she jumped on Nyaruko and she loves videogames!? Up next I would say Hastur was an interesting character; however, what did that character bring to the series? Honestly, I think that character was just around to confuse everyone. Don’t get me wrong I can’t hate Hastur at all I just did not find him to be very entertaining, but hey I always love listening to Rie Kugiyama talk so either way it balances out. Who else was fun to watch? I would say Gutatan but she was only in the final episodes and had little to no lines at all…there was Mahiro’s mom who stood around being cute with those odd alien pokemon things. So what about you!? Besides Nyaruko and Mahiro what other characters kept you coming back week after week? Or were you watching just to see what crazy thing Nyaruko would do next?

Reference time!

2D pimpin ain’t easy for a crazy alien tentacle monster.

Go go Nyaruko Rangers?!

I only spotted one or two there was that talk of Key games like Clannad, Air, Kanon and little busters! Which I hardly even know about but hey that was a clever shout out. Other than that one we had the usual Kamen Rider transformations with Nyaruko. Those were always fun to see, but honestly this episode was lacking in the obvious reference department…thankfully we have other bloggers out there that can catch the ones I always end up missing.

Extra lovecraft moe-ments

Gutatan is powered by cute kittens and the blood of Azunyan.

Nyaruko-“Please be gentle it’s my first tentacle scene like this.”                Roy-“Not sure if want…”

can we just call it Space epic meal time?

End thoughts

That was certainly an interesting final episode! It had lots of drama at the start with lonely Mahiro, but hey he had Gutatan with him to keep him company right? Just kidding! Even with that character he might go insane after a few days. Besides drama there was plenty of comedy to enjoy like Roy Fogger’s plan to steal all the eroge games? Then again all the aliens wanted our entertainment ever since the first few episodes so that wasn’t anything new. Other than that we got to see some fun stuff with Nyaruko and the others at the end. However, that style of ending pretty much leaves the door wide open for a possible second season of Haiyore Nyaruko-san!

Overall this series is really addictive and fun once you get used to the way Nyaruko cuts loose around Mahiro, but there are a few episodes in the middle that slow things down to a crawl…I don’t mind the drama too much, but honestly it did make reviewing this series tough at times. Anyway, if you love off the wall comedy and unique characters you should give it a shot. So what is next for comedy for me? I have my eyes set on Yuru Yuri season two for the summer season so look forward to that and like always please support Metanorn as we continue to fight our way through the anilog tourney!

Nyaruko-“Nyahahahaha! See you again one day!”

This was a good run for Spring. Crazy, ridiculous and funny. It’s a series for you to turn your brain and enjoy the ride and it’s right up there with Kore wa Zombie in terms of comedy. What will be there to fill the void these two have left?

What made Haiyore! Nyaruko-san original was its use of references and use of other themes in the same place (Tsundere, Yuri, Yaoi, Moe…etc). The characters were all unique in their way of making you laugh and even the parent figure wasn’t kind of dull this time around (Gotta say nice things about Yoriko or risk getting assassinated by forks). One of the highlights was Kuko’s yuri antics on Nyaruko. And speaking of yuri, I’ve gotta get my goggles repaired for the second half of Rinne no Lagrange. They’re busted from watching Kuko.

I’m constantly being reminded how absurd the motives of the villains are. World domination? No. Plans to gain unlimited power? Not a chance. Trying to claim all forms of entertainment on earth? Hell yes!!! Here are hopes that another season comes along.

Yep this was right up there with Aquarion EVOL for me in terms of laughs and of course hilarious random moments! I will miss my weekly dose of Nyaruko-san and her crazy off the wall personality <3 For me Yuru Yuri S2 is going to fill in the comedic gap.

Truth all the reference stuff made it a lot of fun for me! Even though I missed out on some of them, but it was still interesting to see how things got thrown in.

AMAZING Cast of characters! So goood I loved watching Kuuko's full on Yuri moments with Nyaruko and of course we have Hastur for the yaoi fans and plenty of moe stuff with Gutatan at the end so yeah there is something for everyone.

LOL The villains are some of the worst, but they always had the most random thoughts for "world takeover" especially the final one? He wanted to steal all the eroge games? LOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL what the hell? That said I loved every random boss character even if they had the worst ideas ever.

That’s awesome that you see the niceh is Nyaruko and Yuru Yuri. Much like you, I can’t wait for it. Akariiiiin.

They say the true test of any hero is the quality of the villain. In this series, both were silly, goofy, and fun. Season Two, when?

        • Foshizzel says:

I might try to get reviews of yuru yuri s2 here if you are interested and yes more adventures of AKAAARINNNN! I hope the second season has her famous intros from the first season.

YES! SEASON TWO WHEN!? I have high hopes for more Nyaruko in the future <3

          • BlackBriar says:

I’m not familiar with Yuru Yuri. Is it good and what can you tell me about it?

I hereby second your statement in hopes of another season rolling by. More Eri Kitamura and Kana Asumi!!!

            • Foshizzel says:

Yury Yuri is amazing and very hilarious! You should watch the first few episodes of season one because you might get hooked! It is basically about four friends and a bit of a yuri love triangle thrown in? But nothing hardcore for yuri scenes honestly it felt more like a comedy? Just imagine three versions of Kuuko running around and you have Yuru Yuri.

              FK YA MORE NYARUKO PLEASSEEEEE

      • BlackBriar says:

Truly one of the best comedies out there. The studio must have learned from other shows and didn’t do anything cliche. At the start when Mahiro was alone, normally when that happens to the lead, the missing characters suddenly reappear afterwards. This wasn’t the case as they waited halfway through the episode to bring back the others. By how open ended the ending was, a second season can definitely be possible.

It’s a really nice end now that Mahiro finally realizes he can’t seem to live without them around and he cares deeply for them although he is still a tsundere. His tsundereness is close to Kore wa Zombie’s Seraphim.

I will surely miss Kuko’s tactics. They are a laugh. She said if she made Mahiro her “wife”, she’d indirectly have Nyaruko as well. She he be honored or creeped out? But if he gets them both, he’s one lucky bastard.

The villains are plain nuts. That’s what makes them fun to look at. An evil monster that’s in love with adult games… priceless. The surprise is that the last one is voiced by Nakata Jouji.

        • Foshizzel says:

I loved every moment of Nyaruko-san! Every week it made me laugh, but towards the middle things got so damn slow…I blame the random drama moments with Mahiro dealing with his “feelings” and I agree they need another season and probably have one in the works depending on DVD sales imo.

I know right? DUUHHH Mahiro you NEED them around because without them your life is so BORING! Nyaruko is awesome! I want a Kore wa zombie x Nyaruko-San! Crossover…Haruna and Nyaruko in the same room? = mind explodes

Yeah I will miss Kuuko and her ideas especially this final episode? Marring Mahiro just to get with Nyaruko? LOLLOL that is the best logic of all time.

YEP! Final boss voiced by Nakata Jouji ftw <3

Haiyore! Nyarlko-san was just a lot of fun to watch, even for someone like me who has never been interested in Cthulu mythos, or doesn’t have the background in anime to get all the references and shouts. I probably only got 10% of them (“I can see the ending!”) but it was still interesting to know they were there. And it didn’t feel like a just a rip-off of ideas, they felt worked in well for the most part.

I also was a little disappointed with how they dealt with Hastur overall. He was just a “me too!” character, and I think it would have been more fun if he had tried to end-run Nyarlko and make assertive moves on Mahiro more than he did, rather than just seeing Nyarlko do something and falling behind. Kuuko was consistently good the whole time, always keeping her eyes on the prize.

I also hope they bring this show back for more.

    • Foshizzel says:

Heck ya! Great comedy with amazing characters every week and I am with you on the Cthulu mythos because I only knew like a few of them from videogames and help from a few friends.

Ahhh yeah Hastur hardly had anything decent to bring to this series and honestly I think he was around to keep the BL fans happy, but ah well if they do a second season I bet they will explore things with Hastur? OH YES Kuuko! She was always a treat even though her mind was fully set on “getting” with Nyaruko in every episode.

YAARRRR! I bet they are hard at work creating the next crazy ass season of Nyaruko.

  3. skylion says:

What wasn’t there to enjoy about this series? I’ll tell you. Not enough Mythos stuff. That isn’t to say I didn’t love this show to pieces. Every week I tuned in, and got turned on (cough…cough). Now, lots of the references were obscure, or out of the way, and as Fosh points out, we can be thankful to NyarReferences for keeping us acknowledge to the drops.

The only character I feel I missed, as Highway states above, was Hasta. Oh, what was the point of you. So much potential unrealized with him.

Alos, Kuuko. My goodness. Such a great character. I don’t think the show would have been even half as good with out her.

Thanks for the constant reviews of this show Fosh. Look forward to more from you…

    • Foshizzel says:

Ohhh I am sure the hardcore mythos fans were left wanting more! Personally most of them flew over my head, but you and Missa Rei were always there to lend a hand and I have to say THANKS! It really made each post fun and yes of course huge high five to the NyarReference blog for adding to the fun.

Yep Hastur got the short end of the Nyaruko character development vs the other cast of aliens and humans.

Kuuuuuuuko! I will miss her she was crazy and pretty much always ready to jump on Nyaruko <3

Ahahah thanks! And thank you for always commenting it always makes the post worth it if I can manage to make people laugh and have a good time!

  4. Katsuko says:
