Inu x Boku SS – 07

Is the feared tentacle episode finally here? *gulps*

Hello everyone! Yup, Miyu is backkk! Missed me? -silence- …Alright ;_; Actually my exams are still ongoing, but I’m currently finding solace from my 73 trigonometry practice questions in revisiting my favorite tsundere and bishie duo! :3 Forgive me if there are any grammatical errors ne as I’m suffering from a bad cold~ >:

This week, great calamity befalls the Ayakashi Manor as Chino ecstatically brings a potted flower she won in a supermarket raffle home. Renshou notices things moving around creepily in its soil and begins to point it out, but is interrupted by an unidentified blob a mysterious demon jumping out of it. It beings spreading around the manor and chaos breaks loose, with the manor’s residents rushing to take cover.

We find out that due to the intrusion of the demon, the Ayakashi Manor’s ~special~ security system has been activated, producing numerous force fields for protection. Each force field is bound to one door and one security base… unless someone unintentionally (or intentionally, for that matter) opens a door, weakening the force field and LEADING EVERYONE TO DOOOOOM. *scary music plays in the background* When the demon disappears in the morning, the security system will reset once again, so all the residents have to do is spend the night together. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? /waggy eyebrows

Meido + potted plant = spell for disaster

Not sure if Nobara or gooey demon is scarier

Jumping to our raccoon and rabbit, Watanuki is… well, being Watanuki and frantically searching for a way to get to Karuta to protect her. Natsume explains that they have no way to reach her as she’s in a different force field, but being the stubborn Tanuki he is, Watanuki refuses to listen. Brilliant Natsume comes up with a smart excuse – the realms are perfect for training and building up strength, and what better way to pass time than to improve himself to protect Karuta?! With the final incentive thrown in, mission accomplished.

Karuta-chan, on the other hand, is all alone. That doesn’t seem to bother her though, as all she needs is her best buddy – a glorious fridge that actually REFILLS itself. She then occupies herself by cooking up a hearty meal, preparing for a delicious feast.

I want a fridge that refills itself with lobsters and sashimi too ;_;

In the dining lounge, Renshou is lazily trying to take a nap when he hears some disturbing sounds. Turns out that Chino and Nobara are busy doing dirty things playing chess while sounding dirty, so he goes back to sleep anyway.

Meanwhile, Ririchiyo and Soushi are having an extremely relaxed time, complete with a filling dinner exquisitely prepared by none other than our beloved bishie. Soushi claims that the demon is a very, very terrifying monster, but assures Ririchiyo that he will always be there to protect her. Ririchiyo realizes that since they are stuck together for the rest of her night, it is her perfect chance to show him her gratitude! …That is, if she actually manages to gather up her courage. xD The awkward atmosphere gradually softens to easygoing comfort, and the two go about their night routine, while Ririchiyo struggles to express her feelings. She finally manages to utter an adorable “arigatou”, which touches Soushi, as he once again says that he in unworthy of Ririchiyo’s thanks.

Soushi – “Ah let me add this photo to my collection of Ririchiyo-sama’s stalker photographs…”

Just when it seems like everyone is going well, Watanuki accidentally crashes onto the ground …which also happens to be one of the doors, UNLEASHING IMPENDING DOOOOOM. The residents and their SS agents immediately change into their youkai forms, bravely taking on the LITTLE UNIDENTIFIABLE BLOBS? With a kick and a slash, the weak blobs disappear one after another and the happy group is reunited once again. Turns out what Soushi claimed were “terrifying monsters” were just weak demons that latch onto people annoyingly. Yup, and they pretty much do nothing else. Wiping all of them out was simply going to be “too much of a hassle”. True enough, some of these demons do manage to ambush Ririchiyo, jumping onto her and landing her in a rather compromising situation – she is promptly saved by her knight in shining armor though, who explains that the “danger” lay in the obscenity of those demons even touching his beloved Ririchiyo-sama. Sigh, melodramatic Soushi is melodramatic as usual.

“Uh… Oopsie?”

…I actually felt like a pedo when I was taking this screenshot

Still not enough sparkles for you?

“I-it’s not like I thought you were trying to raep me or anything!”

SLEEPY BISHIE FACE HNGGGGG

Karuta-chan is a certified ninja

D’awwwww cutest reunion everrr

This episode was… weird. I guess I kind of got used to Inu X Boku being more of a slice of life/comedy/romance anime with little bits of supernatural trivia thrown in, but this episode kind of brought it back to the genre of demons and strange phenomena. I still enjoyed it though, learning about the security systems in place was interesting – it kind of slipped my mind that the whole bunch of them were living in the manor because they wanted to gain more protection from hostilities. Also, getting to see all of their youkai forms again was awesome! SO MUCH EYE CANDY.

I’m getting used to the characters and their individual personalities really quickly – come on, I mean how many of us here already knew that Karuta’s room must have had something to do with food? xD And also, Watanuki and his reckless, undying love for Karuta! Honestly in terms of character development, I feel that Renshou and Nobara are severely lacking as compared to the other characters. Ririchiyo has progressed miles since the first episode, and the last episode brought us much closer to Karuta. All I think of Renshou now is cute bishie with tattoos; and Nobara is a comedic, crazed girl-pedophile. Since the other characters have gotten their character development, it should be Renshou and Nobara soon! I want moarrrr!

Ririchiyo finally managed to thank Soushi this episode, but to me it felt like Soushi kind of brushed it off in his own way again. The last few episodes brought up some questions and really got me thinking about his real reasons for his loyalty to Ririchiyo. Is it really just an unconditional gratitude to her for saving him, or does he actually have hidden motives for doing so? If it is the latter, I really hope that that will change as time passes. I’m really curious to see what will happen when the truth about the past incidents between the two of them are revealed. A big falling out? Forgiveness? Romance? 8D We can only wait.

Lastly, Ririchiyo is making no progress on understanding her true feelings for Soushi. What a silly girl. xD Come on, puberty’s not the only thing that’s making your heart go dokidoki! Next episode though, looks like it may venture upon this topic once again. Ending off with this week’s beautiful ending song, featuring the lovely voices of Hikasa Yoko and Yoshimasa Hosoya:

Preview:

I quote, the next episode is about how Ririchiyo, all steamy after taking a bath, invites Soushi into her room in the middle of the night. Otanoshimi~ <:

Welcome back Miyu!!!! Did exams go well? (…have they even gone?) Hope you feel better soon!

Anyways, I think they’ve strayed off of the manga… Or maybe I just don’t remember this chapter happening. Did this ever happen in there?(I vaguely remember you saying that you read the manga…? Or maybe it was anaaga.) I think I would have remembered a demon invasion. In any case, I hope they go more into Ririchiyo and Soushi’s relationship soon!!

    • Miyu says:

Thank you Kara!♥ Yup exams are going fine so far! I still have a Japanese and Chinese test this week, though. Ganbatteimasu~

Nope hehe I wanted to read the manga but I resisted 'coz I wanted to be ~surprised~ by the anime xD After the anime ends I will move on to read the manga though :3 Yup, Ririchiyo and Soushi's relationship is probably the main focus for me for this anime xD

It’s okay Miyu… I felt more like a pedo taking that screen shot than you did… OTL

It seems like I’m the only one who really enjoyed the heck out of this one episode…. (forever alone)

    • skylion says:

You are not alone, Tofu, I enjoyed this episode very much. I really want that refrigerator, hopefully my model will come with the Ninja option; there won’t be any food left, but that would be the price to pay, I guess.

You know, between this episode and Nisemono 8, I think everyone is feeling a little pedo today.

      • Tofu says:

        I just watched Nisemono 8 and….. wow >///////////<

      • BlackBriar says:

I just watched Nisemono 8 and I must say, It’s jaw dropping and deathly close to crossing the line to full blown incest. What a rush!!! LOL.

    • Miyu says:

HAHA oh ririchiyo is such a cute tsundere ww
Hmm I would say that it wasn’t my favorite episode so far (my heart is still captured by episode 3), but I did enjoy it. xD

  3. Joojoobees says:

“Ririchiyo finally managed to thank Soushi this episode, but to me it felt like Soushi kind of brushed it off in his own way again.”

I think this is accurate. I think Ririchiyo’s problem is more obvious, but Soushi also has a “bad habit” that keeps him from truly connecting with anybody. In the end this isn’t just about Ririchiyo learning to drop her defenses and be her true self with another person, but also about Soushi doing the same.

    • Miyu says:

I agree. He is sort of distant from everybody and if you realize he’s nearly always smiling. I look forward to both of them taking off their masks, and truly interacting with each other heart to heart. It’d be really heartwarming to see. ^A^

  4. Rakuen says:

This one had about 500% more Chino than your average episode. I approve. d=(^.^)=b

While the security system was indeed pretty effective, what struck me as odd is it also seems to trap them. The door in Watanuki’s room was blocked by the floor, and the one in Karuta’s room was on the ceiling. That’s more like a prison than any security system I’ve ever seen.

    • Miyu says:

CHINO IS SO ADORABLE! *pinches cheeks* Actually everyone in this anime is eye candy the character designs are awesome xD

Hmm, that’s a good point, I didn’t think about that. xD Probably to discourage any headstrong, stubborn *cough*Watanuki*cough* people from opening a door and weakening the force field for everyone, perhaps?

  5. BlackBriar says:

For an episode that featured Nobara and Renshou, this felt more like it actually focused on Ririchiyo and Soushi. While it was fun watching her squirm around to make a dicision, I just hope Ririchiyo is able to finally muster up the courage (and without showing her fake tsundere attitude) to tell Soushi how she really feels about him.

I’m starting to like Renshou a lot more: his deadpan attitude with seeing a potentially dangerous youkai enter the mansion and the scene with Nobara and Chino without suspecting something further was quite hilarious.

Oh yes, Nobara the shoujo stalker/crazed girl-pedophile is always a win. You can practically see her begin to get a nosebleed just by being close to Chino. I’ll hold nothing against her if she suddenly snaps and goes wild on any girl in her path because she acts like a crack addict. That’s the best way I can describe her behavior around the females.

LOL. “I actually felt like a pedo when I was taking this screenshot”. Don’t worry, I don’t think anyone will find you guilty for that.

    • Miyu says:

Exactly. WHERE IS MY RENSHOU AND NOBARA CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT? D: They are both comedic characters with much much potential, and I think that with more background knowledge about them, they would possibly become much closer to many of us :\

Hehe yup, Ririchiyo professing her love for Soushi would be quite a sight, huh? xD I’m looking forward to it too~ ♥

      YES! /not a pedo/ HAHA

  6. Kyokai says:

More Renshou is always welcome and when he sings, my heart goes all a flutter. Not the best InuxBoku by far but at least it had its bishie and moe moments.

    • Miyu says:

Yeeeeees hurhur I will forever be a fan of Yoshimasa Hosoya ‘coz of Nezumi and his awesome cave singing hehe ♥

I think every Inuxboku episode is enjoyable in its own way. Episode 3 was the best episode for me so far ^^

  7. tatsuya says:

    hahaha tentacle funny

  8. Samantha Zan says:

Yay double transformations from Ririchiyo and Soushi!!! 😀 And the ending is just so lovely, I think it’s my favorite ending so far now XD. Such nice and matching voices X3 And AGHHH Ririchiyo!!! I hate puberty too! XD Though it’s not so bad when it’s someone like Soushi X3
