Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko – 04

Fosh:Another week and that brings us more Denpa! Last week felt like that important episode to help Erio get closer to Makoto; however, looks like things are going to be more about the two of them or so it seems. Anyway time to join Ness for this fun review!

Ness: Another week gone by of some horrific school crap. But here we are again for Denpa Onna and damn it, I thought it was going to be over after episode three. I mean seriously, the previous episode just felt like a good stopping point because I see no reason for the story to go any further. But oh well.

Fosh:Plot follows Makoto after the amazing bike jump, which broke his right arm. Ryuuko and Maekawa visit him in the hospital and Meme does her usual attempt at getting into Makoto’s pants! We also see Erio finally accepting her new human life?

Makoto- “OH MY GOD! I was Meme’s husband and we had fifty something kids! Nooo!!!”

Makoto so Bamf! Broken arm and he still drags Erio along.

It turns out that jumping into the ocean after getting that much air can cause your bones to snap! I guess saving Erio was worth it, while in the hospital Makoto has some odd daydreams about Ryuuko and Maekawa appearing under his bed sheets. Dude, why didn’t you dream of both? Instead he has to deal with Meme’s clingy hands and after her failure of hitting him up, the real Ryuuko visits to give him some notes.

Meme- “So, shall I cosplay as a sexy nurse?!”                   Makoto-“……Go,d kill me now!”

Ryuuko the cutest detective ever! Seriously her hat is so nice.

Ryuuko always watches.               Makoto- “I think that hat is eating your brain.”

Naturally where Ryuuko goes Maekawa is sure to be lurking and in uniform this time of a giant eggplant. Maybe she has a fetish for dressing up as food? A little bit of comedic fun between Ryuuko and Maekawa unfolds before us; these two girls almost act like siblings fighting over the same guy. Maekawa then explains to Ryuuko that Makoto is actually related to Erio and of course she jumps with a blushed face. What are you thinking, Ryuuko? On second thought I don’t want to know.

Makoto and Ryuuko- “Did you hire an eggplant stripper?”

Ryuuko- “I swear my imaginary friend is this big”

After two weeks, Makoto finally returns to Erio’s house. I had no idea they kept people that long for a broken arm. He arrives to find notes all over the place and I guess they were done by both Meme and Erio? It seems like they really missed him. Makoto pays Erio a visit who thanks him by giving her pantsu!? Meme you are an evil woman! After the fun laughs and some chibi-fied scenes, Makoto joins everyone outside to ride the bike with Meme on the back and Erio in the basket. Surely that is not safe to do with one arm? The episode wraps up with all of them riding off.

Makoto-“Seriously who gave Erio the crayons again and the post-it notes?”

Makoto-“AH WHAT THE HELL! MEME?!”

Meme- “YO Dawg, you totally got punked!”

Meme-“Wait! I WAS JUST KIDDING IT SMELLS REALLY BAD IN HERE!”

End Thoughts:

Fosh: Well, I guess breaking your arm to save your cousin from a mental breakdown works! Good job there, Makoto. I have to agree with Ness, two weeks being in the hospital for a broken arm? It seems a bit extreme. Hahah, and the visions of Maekawa and Ryuuko were funny. We all were probably thinking the same thing like alright where are you, Meme? And BOOM! There she was; somehow I kind of find her fun to watch when she’s in clingy mode around Makoto.

Ryuuko visiting Makoto was nice, I still find her to be very cute to watch and I guess she likes hats? And then we have Maekawa and the giant eggplant outfit… WOW! What the heck is she thinking; then again that’s what makes her character unique, I suppose. I still thought it was funny how both girls acted together; they seem really close or just love to annoy each other?

Now for the ending with Erio, to me this episode feels like the ending of an arc, like yep, we are done here! Leaves me wondering what they have planned next? Maybe another character arc is going to start? Either way this episode felt like the end of the series. But I was pleased to see Erio somewhat using her mattress still and also that ending of her smiling was so good! Very cute ending scenes this week.

Ness: To think that Makoto would break his arm and Erio would be fine from the fall. But I don’t see a need to be hospitalized for 2 weeks. Man, I’d go crazy for missing that much school and being left behind. Then again, Makoto doesn’t have that many friends. The imagination of who’s under his sheets was funny when it came to Meme. I am actually not as annoyed as I thought that I would be of Meme’s character. Yes, she’s an older woman who is acting like a teen but meh, it’s amusing.

As for the visit Makoto had in the hospital, I think that I like Maekawa more than Ryuuko. For some reason, I just don’t find Ryuuko that cute. Or is it that I don’t find cute to be that cool? Maekawa’s eggplant cosplay was funny. Though, sometimes I feel that Maekawa’s personality and voice doesn’t match the character design. But when there are detailed scenes and close-ups on her, the lip shade and such makes her actually look more mature and catches up to her persona. I like how Maekawa purposely makes Ryuuko jealous and makes fun of her. Ryuuko just seems like the type of character that acts all cute but gets jealous and is a little dense or naive.

The welcome home stickies were interesting to read. I especially saw the one that said how Eva should be seen in theaters. So random! But what cracked me up more was the cake that will be spoiled and the surprise in the fridge. Meme just scored some points in my book in that fridge scene. But when Makoto went to get Erio, it felt like a recap of the end of episode 3. I feel now that the series just should stop now because they made the ending of this episode feel like a conclusion. I’m glad that the three got to go out almost like a normal family and Meme isn’t ignoring Erio’s existence. Now now, what more can happen?
