Yumekui Merry – 08

Fun house of evil!

Hopefully this week’s episode gives back our fun and happy Merry, rather than the depressed and sad version we had to sit through last week. Another week another new dream demon to fight! Can’t wait to see what we get this time.

Plot this time follows Yumeji headed to a local doctor to check out his ankle, Merry acts as his escort until she gets seriously distracted by doughnuts. Yumeji meets up with Yui and she lets Engi talk to him, until Merry and Engi sort of team up to take on the new cackling demon.

Isana-“What’s that? You are building a Harem?!”

Merry-“…I must have this hybrid of animal and doughnut…”

Merry gets her wish and gives us Hidamari Sketch face.

Merry gets her doughnut on as Yumeji leaves her alone for visiting the old doctor and gets checked out. Yumeji gets to meet Yui in lieu of some tea and her oddball family! J.C. Staff loves their crazy doctors but he is no frog face. Yui reveals her secret to Yumeji and lets Engi talk through her about her plans.

Felt bad for Engi’s sister here! Hercules is damn freaky with that smile!

This was a touching scene, cool how they show Engi all ghost like.

After Yumeji’s full discussion with Yui and Engi about their motives, he returns to get Merry from the doughnut shop, where we see some familiar guys from the beach episode. One of them has a demon and everyone is thrown into his circus-style dream world. I really liked the design of this week’s demon, very comical character too.  Engi also pops up in the dream with Merry and the two of them team up for now. Why not! Engi isn’t really all that bad, I like her.

Monster Rancher, anyone?

Merry “OH YEAH? I CAN DO THAT TOO….Oh…you win…”

Engi- “Why did it have to be clowns?! I HATE CLOWNS!”

Merry-“This glass won’t stop until all of those doughnuts are in my mouth!”

End Thoughts:

Well this week wasn’t that exciting compared to last beach filled episode; the big thing for me was finally seeing Merry back to her usual adorable self again! Sad Merry is just too damn depressing. Also its apparent that Yui is slowly becoming a main role, which is nice; I assume Engi wants to assist Merry to find a way back to her own world. That is if Merry is actually sending them home, a cool twist would be something like Merry actually sending them to Hercules without realizing what she was doing.

I still think Merry was somehow connected to Hercules; something about her keychain makes me think she controls who and what comes through the dream world. I kind of figured, one of the random guys that hit on Saya had something going inside them, I was waiting on them to hit on Merry, she probably would have no idea what they wanted.

The last few bits with that new circus themed dream was not that amazing but very a cool set up, mostly because I loved that crazy demon. Even though it looks like an easy character design, so I can’t wait to see it actually fighting! However, I bet that demon is super easy to beat; I mean it’s going to be two on one next time.

Next week Merry and Engi team up!? But will they be able to become friends? I keep waiting for Yumeji to transform into Chaser that would totally be epic! Come on J.C. Staff make it happen already!
