Toaru Majutsu no Index II – 19

Accelerator’s best fight ever?

After all that light and fluffy fun in episode eighteen, it’s time for some serious stuff to go down; we can only hope so! Of course any episode with Accelerator and Last Order running around always opens up quite a fun ride.

Plot this week has Accelerator running into Amata Kihara, leader of a special unit called Hound Dogs, who also was Accelerator’s mentor. Last Order gets kidnapped; but gets away and she finds Touma and requests his help to save him.

All the nuns in Index are a bit perverted, huh?

Want to be a magical girl? Lol wut, Sasha?

Guess Kyubey has more success making magical girls…

After the bit of fun in Russia with Sasha and a random nun, we join Last Order and Accelerator walking home in the rain. Last Order falls and hurts her knees and this forces Accelerator to go and buy some band aids for her. Ye Gods, he does have a heart! Really shows he somehow cares for his little friend. Before he can rejoin Last Order though, he gets attacked by the Hound Dogs with a hardcore job of trying to run him over. He then runs into Amata Kihara who kicks his ass up and down the street.

Those cheeks, I must touch…

Grrrr face gets all the girls.

I knew it! Accelerator is a pyromaniac

Ouch! right in the face! Amata does have some epic laughs.

Being a former teacher to Accelerator, he knows all his tricks and how to work around his vector abilities and makes quick work of him. Well, at least Accelerator is not all powerful; still sad to see him get beaten up so fast! The Hound Dogs grab Last Order but Accelerator uses his ability to knock her into the sky; I guess he calculated where she would land safely. A few minutes later, Index arrives to return something to Accelerator.

Have to say this part of the fight was amazing! Animation was top quality here.

Not sure why, but this reminded me of something from Metal Gear Solid…

“I Believe I can fly!”

Quick, Accelerator, send Index flying!

Meanwhile, Touma runs off to find Index and notices lots of anti-skill outside standing around; until they begin to randomly pass out in front of him. Maybe they saw Touma and were like, dude, let’s leave the city to that boy! Last Order runs and clings to Touma, crying her eyes out for him to save Accelerator and we get to see Vento walking around talking to Aleister on a radio. Seems like she already knows quite a bit about Judgment, Anti-skill, Misaka system and the Imagine Breaker or she might have been watching Index. The episode ends with Aleister giving commands to Amata to eliminate Vento and capture Index.

I love Last Order and all but that is some crazy detail on her face…

Vento! Can’t wait to see you fight Touma!

When will this dude get out of his fish tank!?

Extra Powers

Last Order wants to be like Touma! Spiky hair, look!

-Touma-“DUDE! Are you dead?!”                         –Soldier-“……..go………..away………sleeping”

Accelerator -“Yea….those are some nice shoes…bro”

End Thoughts:

Whoa! What a great episode this week! Lots of action with some story progression going on this time around. Seeing Accelerator go to the store to buy some bandages for Last Order was kind of cute, just to see that he generally cares for her even though she would drive most people nuts. So, we get to see some progress between the two of them. Seeing Amata arrive and beat the snot out of Accelerator was shocking, then again Amata knows the ins and outs of his power so in a way he has an edge.

Seeing Vento arrive and start chatting with Aleister was also nice, finally seeing that dude make his move! Can’t wait to see what FUSE=Kazakiri does and how Index plays into all this. I can only guess she is like the power for it or something cheesy; probably its magic powered! It was interesting to hear Vento knowing everything about Academy City even down to Touma’s power. Then again, he has been kicking the church’s ass this whole season.

I am curious to learn what Index will do to actually help Accelerator, that and if Mikoto is aware of the current events with Touma, Last Order and Accelerator? Hopefully she gets to finally learn all that Touma has been keeping hidden from her. But judging from the opening video, she gets stuck fighting Anti-skill people.

Kuroko! Oh, how I miss you and your crazy faces.

Next week! Action and some story progression?! Let’s hope so! I think we finally get Mikoto and Kuroko in on the events happening in Academy City and more Index teaming up with Accelerator.

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

Awesome! Let the action begin! I’m a bit down it’s to the later end of the series but the way they’re going, they’ll have to make a third season.
Forgetting bout my, JC Staff-has-to-do-another-season-to-finish–off-Index woes, the fight was intense, and they kept the quality high as well, which is always good for the ‘aesthetics’ :). Agonising wait for the next ep, specially when I have some idea of the plot…ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! Saturday, come already!
Vento’s entrance…i think Touma’s harem building has finally caught up to him ;P…
PS. FYI Foshizzel, Aleister’s going to be a tube boy/girl/stalker for a vveerrryyy long time. He’ll still be trolling everyone though all the way

    • Reaper says:

Until the next ep comes out, Oreimo’s true route will satisfy…sigh of relief

    • Foshizzel says:

Sadly I think you are right on that, I can smell a third season or a movie. They should go ahead and make a movie! to squeeze in all the epic and fighting…

Ooooh gotcha well Aleister seems better fit for being a puppet master, I am sure he has plenty of grunts to do his handy work.

      Yes need Saturday too D:

  2. Junko says:

Now THIS is what I’m talking about. I can’t see how they can possibly avoid magic/esper clashes now! When science and magic cross the story begins? Only took you a season and 19 episodes to DO THAT, NOW DIDN’T IT, INDEX?!

    • Foshizzel says:

Hahaha well sadly it will be Touma crossing paths with the usual magic user and over powering them with his rage hand of doom. Yeah it did take them a while to get back into that, my big complaint is the same other than me wanting Mikoto fighting a magician….

      • Junko says:

I want to see Mikoto no fight a magician, I want her to OWN one. Like. A. Boss.

        • Foshizzel says:

We all do! Trust me any fan of Mikoto wants to see her go all out in a fight against a mage.

I could settle with Accelerator fighting a magician just for WOW factor lol…

        • amado says:

mikoto needs to be in more serious fights. her fighting tactics and abilities are much more cooler than touma’s.

          • Foshizzel says:

Agreed! Mikoto fights really well in the manga, against other level fives! Wish they would let that happen. Fingers crossed for Railgun season two!

          • BlackBriar says:

We need more Railgun action. It’s like she’s starting to become neglected.

  3. Kyokai says:

Where have the episodes gone like this one? Now here is something that I love about Index. Stupid Staff of Index II, please less fanservice and meandering with more epic fights and twists!

    • Junko says:

Forever this. I’m not anti fanservice (I don’t really care for it either) but we have a series full of POWERS and MAGIC. Y U NO FIGHT?!

    • Foshizzel says:

Hahah yes this is correct, but the show is called Index why doesn’t she do more? It’s her damn show LOL

Yeah we need more battles and less moe moe moe

      • Dan-go says:

naaaaaaaaa the sllice of life moments are pulled off far better than the battles of this anime, and there were 2 episodes of calmness, that slowly built up to this episode, they can’t just pack everything into everysingle episode, it lacks structure and real plot, basic plot creation>adrenalin junkies, and ultimately shows that just whore adrenalin pumped climatic moments aren’t particularly memorable

        • Foshizzel says:

Well that is true, I just think the slice of life moments are far to many in this series so far. I did go back to the first season and caught the first few episodes and those are mostly action.

Plot is there it’s just hard to follow most of the time, when they go from fighting episodes straight to DAAWWWW episodes kind of throws people off.

          • Dan-go says:

you just can’t have a adrenalin filled constant line of action, even FMA, predominantly a battle anime, featured slice of life episodes, otherwise viewers just lose interest

            • Foshizzel says:

Well that’s a given with any show like this, I don’t want constant in your face battle after battle that would get really old fast.

It’s the same with Merry people loved episode one, then started to drop that series around three or four they wanted constant fighting for her.

        • Masu says:

have you forgotten about tengen toppa gurren lagan?

  4. BlackLagoon187 says:

Im gonna take a wild stab at ep 20, Index pulls out magic in front of Accelerator or Stiyl being the stalker he is comes out and save Index and Accelerator. Touma and Last Order then make their way to Accelerator to see Stiyl getting owned. Touma uses epic punch. The End. Then Vento comes along and next ep preview goes.

    //End of wild guess

And yes I would definitely want to see an ep of Mikoto owning a magician. 😀

    • Foshizzel says:

Hmmm that is pretty close I would guess something similar, mostly with Touma wandering around bumps into Vent by mistake xD

Yes Stiyl getting own like always after one cool fire spell.

      Last Order saves everyone! GO!

  5. MikADo says:

I should say…since books volume 1~11 is the prologue and volume 11 to 22 is the 1st chapter… and volume 23 being a new chapter…. CONGRATS we have just entered the start of the chapter! Since the second season will cover the stories of volume 13, I guess the whole second season is just an teaser for the main dish (season 3 and possibly/likely 4) and the whole season one was just half of the appetizer 😛

    • Foshizzel says:

I have a friend on twitter Crazydave or something like that, he says the fights coming up should be very interesting for Accelerator and Mikoto. However he doesn’t think they can pull it off in the anime version he read most of the light novel.

Oh god I hope they don’t have to squeeze a 3rd and 4th season from this I think id be annoyed D:

Although from what I hear the novel’s have everyone ending up in Russia which sounds great! So there could be a series there.

      • MikADo says:

We still have the England(dragon) arc, Russia(God’s right seat Piama(?)/WWIII) arc and etc and sorry, mikoto vs accelerator will have to pass since volume 13 ends with the FUZE KAZAKIRI episode

        • Anya says:

Wow o.o are there english translations of the novels? I can’t read japanese >.<

          • MikADo says:

            since i am a korean 😛
and in Korea the novel is already translated and published until volume 20~21 XD

        • Foshizzel says:

Damn now that you say that…I really think they will do a 3rd and maybe 4th season…Sounds great! But also bad…

    • MikADo says:

y is my reply getting deleted? wtv… mikoto VS accel is impossible b/c 2nd season ends with volume 13 (Fuze Kazakiri and God’s right seat (1/4)

we got plenty of episodes left like God’s right seat (3/4) arc, Science side groups (Item, Block, Group, etc) arc, England/Dragon arc, and Russia/WWIII/God’s right seat (4/4) arc so plenty of story waiting to get animated 😛

      • Kyokai says:

It was not getting deleted but for some reason spammed. That only happens when the traffic is too much and Akismet shits out on us. No worries though, I always find and rescue these comments. :3

        • Dan-go says:

          Internet oppression 🙁

          • Dan-go says:

HAHAHAHHAHAHA i got a message saying i’m too awesome at life, “You’re posting comments too quickly, slow down”

            • Foshizzel says:

Lol don’t worry happens to me too when I reply, if you post or comment to fast it counts it as “spam” and doesn’t go through. Nothing you are doing wrong xD just loves to bug out.

          • Kyokai says:

            Rather, WordPress/Akismet opression. Stop being a comment houndo~. =P

        • MikADo says:

          my comments were rescued!

  6. Anya says:

Index likes to jump between action/plot and slice of life moments a LOT. Kind of like me when I write.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yes! That it does, however I think with a series like this you need it for all the characters to shine. Take a series like Durarara!! They don’t always have fight fight fight every episode, we also get the comedy and slice of life filled episodes.

So any series with tons of characters will always have “filler” aka boring episodes xD

      • Dan-go says:

i looove these episodes, they’re not boring, i love them, to be honest, index’s slice of life episodes are better than their action ones

  7. Ican helpwithindexquestions says:

To read English version of novels go to Also, I’m shocked nO one corrected this guys review. It’s not index kihara wants, it’s last order.

    • Foshizzel says:

Well I just read the 13th chapter of the light novel, yeah you are correct he is only after Last Order I am actually enjoying the novel! seems really fun 😀

  8. Reaper says:

JC Staff, do it live! Why not just do an entire season of 50 episodes? Solves everyone’s problems…then again, they might focus on shakugan III, even though I havent watched any of those episodes yet…should get around to that…

  9. AkatsukiYuki says:

Ahhhh~ I only started re-watching Index cuz I heard that Accelerator reappeared. No way I’ll watch for loli-con if Accelerator and Last order didn’t reappear. They just look so cute together~ But gahhh, hate it when Accelorator was beaten up. I was coming to the point of swearing I’d kill that stupid guy who beat Accelerator up!

    • Foshizzel says:

Well these episodes following this are really great for Misaka,Last order,Accelerator and Touma progression! Accelerator is easily my top 3 characters for Index.

Don’t worry to much! He was pretty badass in episode 20!
