First Impressions – I Don’t Like You at All, Big Brother!!

You have a sister. She wants to get in your pants. She’s not your sister. WHAT DO YOU DO.

So here is my second of three First Impressions this season. First being Infinite Stratos, third being Hourou Musuko which should be out soon. This season, so far, is turning out to be pretty awesome. I haven’t had a problem with many of the shows this season and I don’t actually hate anything.

Except for this. You’ll see in a few paragraphs why.

We open the episode, straight away, with bad art. It’s the first thing you see. Here, we see one of our main characters known as Nao Takanashi. She’s being weird and talking to someone (most likely her brother) and she obviously is a little weird. Before it goes to far, we realize that it’s just a dream. Thank God. Here we meet our other main character, Shusuke Takanashi. He wakes from his dream to find his sister, Nao, wrapped around him. Being a perverted brother he considers kidding her but his mother barges in and stops them. It seems the Nao is actually trying to make her brother love her and her plan was foiled again.

On their way to school, we also meet a few side characters, Nao’s friends, in fact. They go by the names Hirono and Haruka (I think) and they are a little disgusted that Nao loves her brother so much. They even smack her over the head a few times for good measure. It’s surprising she has friends when she acts the weird. Later that night Nao goes about her usual business, y’know, sniffing Shusuke’s clothes and whatnot. In an attempt to get Shusuke looking at her (horribly drawn) body, she runs through the house wearing a towel. However, shit gets serious when she realizes he’s stolen her popsicle. End of the World kinda stuff, people. She freaks out and attacks him and her towel comes off. Cue blushing and a whole bunch of awkward.

The next day Nao decides to take action and look for all of Shusuke’s porn mags. After a lengthy sort of search she uncovers them all and beins to throw out all of the ones that aren’t related to incest. As she searches for scissors she comes across a photo album tucked away in a drawer. She looks through it and finds lots of pictures from Nao and Shusuke’s childhood. Except there’s a problem. She looks throughout the entire album and there isn’t a single photo of her with Shusuke. What on earth could be going on?

After Shusuke’s parents attack him for having all this porn (his dad takes a liking to a certain ‘SM Colosseum’) Nao confronts the two parents with the photo album. They’re quite shocked that she found it, but agree to tell her the truth. Around ten years ago she parents were in a car accident and Nao was in the back seat. Both her parents were killed and because Shusuke’s father was good friends with Nao’s true father, they decided to adopt Nao into the family. They also reveal that Shusuke wanted to take care of Nao and look after her as a sister. Shusuke being so adamant about it was the main reason his parents decided to adopt Nao. As she learns this she becomes a little disappointed that she wont be able to have an illicit relationship with her blood brother, but then is overjoyed because she will actually be able to marry her brother. She asks to keep what her parents have told her a secret from Shusuke, as she doesn’t want his good intentions to go to waste. But, as the episode ends, we see a chilling shadow loom across the Takanashi household…

End Thoughts

What not to do when you find your sister in your bed.

Bread theft is pretty common in Japan. No, really.

What not to do if you find your sister in your bath.

What not to do if… oh screw it, JUST DON’T DO ANY OF THIS. DON’T EVEN WATCH IT.

This is what I though Oreimo would be like if it were bad. Seriously. I can’t begin to describe the amount of hate flowing out of me at the moment. My eyes were also destroyed as well. The art! Good lord, THE ART! Absolutely horrible, to say the very least. All of the character look about 10 years old and they also look like they need to eat a few thousand steaks! GET SOME (NEW ZEALAND) PIES UP IN. And something is seriously wrong with Nao. Or the creators of the show. Nothing about the show is subtle. It’s not trying to be subtle but it’s a little too in-your-face and that’s never a good thing.

In all honesty, I would watch this show if it weren’t for the art. I’d at least watch it for another 2 – 3 episodes, until it degraded into nothing but awful, awful fan service and bad harem-ness (then again, I just watched School Days…). The plots execution just seems so… so… anime and it doesn’t even try to put it’s own creative spin on it (except for the bad art (hurr durr)). The voice acting isn’t even anything to write home about. No ones performances really stood out, and it sucks seeing some decent VA’s in there. You’d think after snagging Mikado in DRRR, Toshiyuki could get some better work than the main role in this PoS. Then Nao is Eri Kitamura who I thought was pretty good in HoTD and ToraDora, so why did take this show?! Gotta pay da’ bills somehow, I guess.

My anime hipster friend tells me that anime isn’t good anymore. He hears about one bad show and he’s all like ‘All anime is bad hurr’. It’s probably because all he hears about is stuff like this show. To be honest, it would just make me angry. You know what? I would rather watch Star Driver than this. And everyone knows how much I didn’t like Star Driver. That’s pretty much all there is too say about this. I don’t even want to call it buy it’s proper name. It’s too long and similar but not similar to Oreimo. Well, it least Oreimo was better.

So sad knowing Yui from angel beats voices the main girl…so sad.

But this was funny watching with others on skype, they were playing a drinking game. Every time she says onichan they take a drink, same for panty shot or penguin lol…

So watch with others! makes it more funny cause it is so bad.

    • Hato-kun says:

They need to make an anime about fat people!

      • Foshizzel says:

Hahaha yes! that would be funny but would they eat all day and talk about food? hmmm…were onto something.

        • VucubCaquix says:

          Yeah, it’s called Real Drive.

It’s also a bit boring in the beginning, but gets super awesome scifi in the end. Takes place in the same universe as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

    • anaaga says:

if that’s the case, they should put lindsay lohan in it

  5. Robert says:

The art is terible, but it is funny and thats all I need 😀

  6. Dan-go says:

  7. amado says:

ah I read the manga last year but dropped it.
actually I havent watched it yet but I didnt like how the events start off. while there definitely isnt any diff from the manga, I also didnt like the manga much because they werent sibling.

the real reason I read the manga(and dropped it) in the first place was because I heard there was a yandere in it. and it turned out she wasnt or at least just a shadow of a yandere.

the art doesnt give me a problem though.

    • anaaga says:

lol not real siblings true true that kills the drama right there.
needs more anime like yosuga no sora! twins would be nice! xD

      • amado says:

yeah, twincest is best out of all the kinds of incest. it is even on par with yuri for me.

        • anaaga says:

you know what’s better? have an incest yuri anime with twins. there ya go. make it super taboo

          • amado says:

actually I prefer my twincest to be brotherXsister kind but im fine with yuri twincest too.

            • anaaga says:

eeehhh why? i’m pretty sure there’s gona be more drama if it’s girlXgirl, since they will at least one part where the wins will be in denial for liking girls

btw, u have any skype? or msn?

            • amado says:

not really as much as the broXsis kind though,
the foremost and main reason incest is banned because of the fact that interbreeding will have a bigger chance of having their child have birth defects, disease, disabilities, etc.

if both are boy/girl, then its a bit more okay since this wont happen, but this is just the scientific reason though.

the morale reason is that its frowned by the current society we live in.

I dont have skype or msn.

These kinds of shows hurt me. You’re a brave man, Hato.

  9. Namika says:

    *whew*
Thank god that I didn’t watch this!! >>

  10. wildfire says:

saw the art and thought “ohh no, this show is gonna suck.” it kinda did, kinda didnt. Art was poorly draw and characters were so lanky, they could all be Nigerian.
I thought the story was really good. the Ecchi stuff adds to the fun, especially since im not watching Freezing right now. I’ll stay on this one. hato might be having second thoughts ^^
