Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt – 10
ANARACHYYYYYY~
Man, this episode is all over the place. It has 5 different parts ranging from wasting my time to being one of the best things I’ve seen since episode 6. I won’t judge you if you skip to the concert portion and ignore everything else. Really, I would recommend that…
Briefs whips out his…teapot and starts spurting….milk…all over Panty and Stocking. I am not sure if this is the best way to start an episode or the worst way to. Anyways, once we zoom out a bit, it becomes clear that Panty and Stocking have shrunken in size due to the demon sister’s meddling. They don’t actually appear this episode, but at least they’re mentioned XD Briefs decides to keep them safe until the turn back to normal, but the sisters dislike his patronizing tone so much that they attack him and then get swallowed.
The solution is laxatives. As awkward as this is in itself, Garterbelt makes it worse by being a perv and trying to watch him poop. The conversation goes on for a LONG time until Briefs gives in and craps his guts out. Garterbelt inspects his “Frankfurter”, which scares Briefs so much that he inadvertently flushes the sisters away. Horrified, and still pantless, Briefs panics as Gartberlt sends Chuck after the girls.
Turns out sending Chuck down the drain was pointless since Panty just calls Gartbelt on the phone from inside of Briefs. His cellphone, somehow doubles as an x-ray GPS, so he sees the pair of them jumping around in the poor redhead’s lungs. The sisters go on a rampage around his body, even doing a transformation sequence (very random…) in his brain and making him punch Garterbelt over and over.

They get bored of that and eventually slide down into his stomache, where they start to turn back to their normal size. Never fear, Doctor Garterbelt is here! With VASELINE. Lulz. Let’s not get too descriptive here…Briefs basically gets buttraped. After giving birth to the sisters (creepy), they ignore him and chat avidly about their intestinal adventures.
There is little to no point in me summarizing the next portion, since there is no real plot. There is one, but it’s not actually…important…per se. You’ll know after watching Chuck walk down a hallway, only to be foiled by Fastener over and over again. Watching him respawn in odd ways is almost satisfying, but not quite.
Derp.
Chuck has a very weird highschool flashback of always being the loser, and Fastener being the popular kid. Finally retaliating, the two scuffle until they end up in a kitchen. The animation starts to pick up here, but ends abruptly when Chuck unzips the pink ladybug. (Looks like a ladybug to me) He promptly keels over, and a devil woman walks out of his head. If only we had a counter for every wtf moment in the bottom right hand corner…
Chuck goes to put his rival’s corpse in a disposal bin, but is run over by none other than his owners…Twice. He ends up in the hospital (so all those other times he was fine, but not this time?) wrapped in bandages. The animation suddenly turns badass as he tries to move towards what I assume is a bedpan so he can urinate. Sadly, he is impeded by a fly (yes, a fly) and wets himself. Chuck snaps and punches the fly so hard he breaks the wall, unleashing a legion of angry flies.
The flies lock him in a microwave and he…he just gets messed up okay? Watch it yourself to see, IT’S JUST WEIRD. From there, things turn into some weird black and white movie and just…A devil in his head? Unzipping? Sex? Smacking his head on everything he can find? I GIVE UP TRYING TO SUMMARIZE IT.

It is most likely you’re feeling like PnS has let us down by now, but no…what’s this? A concert? A badass concerts with more parodies than you can shake a stick at with sexy animation and rocking music? Oh baby, I forgive you, come back to me…Spam time.

End Thoughts: What started off as an “okay, this is just…alright…kind of interesting” episode turned into an “I need to watch this again” sort of episode. No Ghosts were killed, and the episode has close to zero dialogue aside from the first part, but it was still good overall. OVERALL, that is. When you split it into 3 parts, things start to change.
The Briefs-centric part is a PnS spin on the typical plot device where the protagonists are shrunk and cause all sorts of havoc inside someone’s body. I distinctly recall this happening in the Magic Schoolbus, to yet another redhead who reminds me of Briefs. It’s been done to death, and this episode brings nothing new to it except Garterbelt being a pedophile and a few chuckles. The animation was surprisingly lazy too. I guess they put all their eggs in one basket with the last part.
The Chuck episode is one of the weirdest PnS episodes yet. Really. It’s like some art student’s rendition of the Looney Tunes. On drugs. While it’s not a bad idea, Chuck and Fastener are not characters who are particularly lovable. If it was another mascot, I’m sure I’d enjoy this more. Anyways, aside from being weird, Gainax went nuts trying a bunch of different animation types. Probably the only thing that kept me from skipping ahead. Shame that it started off so badly, because the very last Chuck part is just a mess of WTF…The kind of thing I love XD
The last part is a concert, which is, once again, overdone. (Not in American cartoons, but in anime) I’ve been saying that a lot. It’s prettymuch a parody show, so I don’t mind things that are popular being used again, as long as they’re done WELL or in a UNIQUE way. Don’t fix what ain’t broke, right? Luckily, this section was a GOOD parody. It parodied a hugggeeeee amount of musical artists I can’t even begin to name, and it was just so perfectly PnS…I swear they know we’re dying for the OST and wanted to tease us even more with this.
I didn’t forget your naked Panty, don’t worry ;D

I… didn’t really like the Chuck part of the episode D; I found it really boring, and I almost skipped it… almost. I really didn’t get anything that was happening there and what happened at the end was especially a wtf moment for me.
But the concert part of the episode was kickass, I agree 😀 Now I’m dying for the OST to come out. I don’t know if I can wait a month.
I hope the next episode doesn’t have boring parts.

I think I’m the only one who enjoyed the Chuck part. . . For some reason I find Chuck disgustingly cute, so I liked seeing more of him, even though the whole concept was just. . .weird. Although of course it was horrible compared to the awesome concert scene.
I hope they go back to ghost hunting next week. It’s much more interesting when they’re actually doing what they’re supposed to do. And I miss the demon sisters 🙁

I don’t find him cute, probably because I compare him to Gir. And nothing surpasses Gir.
They’re usually at their best when they’re beating stuff up, but the Stocking’s love interest episode says otherwise. It really depends on how they do it =P

As a part of the ‘PnS is a experimental anime where gainax decided to try some random shit out’ argument (case and point that weird yet horribly sad episode with that guy and his daughters birthday and the art’s all odd) I loved the Chuck to the Future 3 part, especially since it was a Back to the Future parody.
Also, holy mother of anarchy, Lady Gaga AND Gorillaz in MY anime? SHIT YES.
All ‘n’ all, awesome to see all the western parodies in this episode, rather than hundreds of japanese refferences you probs wont get unless you’re that into the culture.

Oh, I definitely agree that PnS is Gainax just having the time of their lives doing whatever the hell they want. It’s great. Especially if it gives us GORILLAZ OMG YESSS (Lady Gaga I don’t care about as much, but I still loled when I saw Panty dressing up as her)
I like the Western parodies, because it’s a given we know more Western parodies than Japanese ones. I can’t even count how many of those wordplay/pun jokes have flown over my head @_@ Sadly, since the audience in mind is usually Japan, we don’t get a lot of references thrown our way

I sat down to watch this episode only to find out that I wasn’t in the mood for PnS… until I saw the last part. See, my face was emotionless all the time, the same thing, no amusements or things like that (even tough I like Chuck, but this just don’t seemed to fit right… it was nice still)…and then, I was like “OMG!HOLYCOW! WHAT IS THIS!!?!?” XD ! Yeah! As you see, it made my day (:: (BIG LOL for the parodies, specially the gaga’s one and the nirvana’s album *-*)
