WINTER ANIME 2009 Preview

This is a preview of what’s coming this winter. I’ll also finish up my Winter Anime 2009 post as soon as I’ve gathered enough accurate information. This is the version 1 released, so many shows and information will be added as time goes by. It’s still early and who knows, there might be more good anime to come. I’m personally looking forward to Maria+Holic, Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou and KuroKami. I’ll also try White Album and Tale of Genji. What will you be watching this winter?

The only two that I’m going after for sure this season are White Album and Maria+Holic. But I’m also looking at KuroKami, Asu no Youichi (because I like girls with giant ribbons in their hair…and that’s it), and Akikan! (I will likely drop Akikan immediately though). Maybe Tale of Genji too.
I don’t mind the lack of shows, since I already have too many shows this season. I don’t want it to happen again, especially since some of them are going to span two seasons.

@tsukasa: Yeah, almost all winter seasons of anime are… bland. Oh well, Spring has some good shows at least 🙂
@FuyuMaiden: I agree. I remember what I did last Summer season where I just dropped all the shows I’ve watched like dead leaves. Maria+Holic is a sure watch for me too ^_^. I’ll also try White Album because of the Nana Mizuki and Aya Hirano showdown.

It is highly likely that I’ll be covering Tale of Genji because it is a new animation based on the world’s first novel.
I’ll check out Maria+Holic, but I can’t commit to covering it because of what happened to Hyakko. I’ll post at least one episode though.
I’ll check out Konnichiwa Anne and might cover it, but I have some doubts that it will be released this winter.
Also I’ll check out some other shows, but it is unlikely that I’ll cover them, unless I find a pleasant surprise like happened with Kaiba and Hidamari.
It looks like many people are interested in White Album, but I have not heard about his anime. Could you please explain to me what is so great about it?

@Kitsune: Yeah, I guess Maria+Holic cannot fit your taste so it’s sure to be safe :). White Album is based from a visual novel. It’s about the relationship of an ordinary guy and an idol and their struggles to keep hold of each other. It features a powerhouse seiyuu cast of Aya Hirano, Nana Mizuki and Tomoaki Maeno ^_^.

Oh, now I see what White Album is about – thanks.
Just to clarify, Maria+Holic fits my taste quite well, because it is developed by the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei team. I just pointed out that I can’t commit to covering it because I don’t know how it will turn out. No matter how good the production is, I will not watch a film if the plot is aversive.

@tsuiteru: Viper Creed looks like AppleSeed, well it’s because it’s from the same creators. Looks cool. I don’t know about Akikan though…
@7: Yeah for now. We can’t judge the show yet until we get to see it right?
@Kitsune: That’s what I meant. The story may soon not fit your taste as it progresses, but I don’t know. Animation-wise, we’ll expect this one to be brilliant because of SHAFT ^_^.

The first thing I want to watch is Queen´s Blade! (Just for my dose of fanservice, and I like the character designs, and hope for a plot)
White Album also seems interesting, especially for the seiyuu cast (Aya Hirano and Nana Mizuki)
Z Mazinger really seems messed up so I am watching that. (I saw the 70´s version when I was younger)
Kurokami and Maria + holic annd Tale of Genji sounds like good bets.
I will check the rest once I finish those series.

the top of my chart would be none other than MARIA HOLIC. Cause it looks good enough to be worth remembered for sometime.
The storyline is what captivated me the most, although that fear of men phobia is not that all new. I think i saw that in “goshusho-sama ninomiya kun” and the sadistic cross dresser reminds me of yoshitaka from “he is my master”
The lead male here seems like the type who will do anything to get these girls in weird situations. Hmmmm
Well I don’t really know his personality yet. But i’ll watch out for his info when it comes out.
Oh yeah, other than this i think ill recon the others (can’t say i’ll watch em all though)

@me,myself and I: Maria Holic really looks promising even for me too:) The main male/trap is very sadistic that the main heroine of the series always gets into the weirdest situations ^_^. There’s a manga, and so far it’s only a few chapters but it’s good and entertaining. Thanks and Merry christmas too 🙂
