Fumina fig where? Based Minato for building that and even submitting it in the contest.
Shia winning the Sekaibowl is great. Fumina was pretty much outclassed. Doujins where?
And still no Sei? WTF. At least we got to see their master which is no surprise to be Domon(sadly not genderbent as people were hoping).
    Season 3 please.

    • Foshizzel says:

AGREED WHERE CAN I BUY?! DO WANT!

Oooooh trust me there will be tons of Doujins of Shia! I know there is already a lot for Fumina…

Yeah I was a bit annoyed how they hyped up Lori possibly appearing, but I guess not? LOL dat Domon appearance so G Gundam is real? SWEEEEET.

S3 YES PLEASE or a movie with s1 and s2 characters fighting.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

Oooooh trust me there will be tons of H-Doujins of Shia! I know there is already a lot for Fumina…

Corrected. 😛 Sadly, that cannot be said of the same for Aldoanh. 🙁

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

Spammy ate all my doujins 🙁

I think the first lines of OP2 for Nanatsu no Taizai sums up how I feel about A.Z. “The pain and the pleasure all come together, there is no reason why”.

Far Far more pain, than pleasure in the end. Especially the end. Geez, besides weird anime feelings was there any reason why Slain was kept alive? I don’t mean to be blood-thirsty, nor do I say I wanted him to die because I felt he was a horribly written character. No, I felt his death would have sealed the end of that whole ridiculous trumped up Vers empire. Fresh start and all. Kill that awful past.

    • Di Gi Kazune says:

The usual crimes against humanity and he must be punished spiel. Slaine wanted death but was unmercifully denied it.

      • BlackBriar says:

“Death is too good for them. They must suffer as I suffered. They must see their world, all they hold dear, ripped from them as it was ripped from me”.
Edmond Dantes (The Count of Monte Cristo) (2002)

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

I honestly would have liked the Urobutcher ending much better. I hate Asseylum so much. The only way I would watch a 3rd season is if Asseylum tries to go back to Vers only to find out that Lemrina took over the planet in her absence. Lemrina has Klancain killed and Asseylum imprisoned for the rest of her life, and sends Harklight to break her fiancee-to-be out of jail, and Slaine rejoins his princess on Mars to rule by her side. Maybe kill off Inaho during the prison break too, let’s just go nuts. 😀

Ah… one can only dream of it rewritten properly…

          • Irenesharda says:

That would have been divine. 😀
Another option would be that Inaho and Asseylum died at the end of season 1 and Saazbaum placed Lemrina as the new empress, Slaine gets his vengeance against Saazbaum and he and Lemrina marry and reform Vers together.

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

Seriously, Slaine should have emptied the entire magazine. I am tempted to quote Pacific Rim – ‘Check for pulse’.

    • BlackBriar says:

I think the first lines of OP2 for Nanatsu no Taizai sums up how I feel about A.Z.

Speaking of Nanatsu, I’m eagerly awaiting the series review.

Geez, besides weird anime feelings was there any reason why Slain was kept alive?

Pretty simple. Back on the moon base during the raid when Inaho was exhausted and passed out with his mechanical eye temporarily taking control of his body, Asseylum asked him to save Slaine. After Inaho woke up, the eye gave him the recorded information, so he did just that. It was a personal wish from the girl he came to admire.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

I sincerely doubt Slaine would have been pleased about it though. Betrayed by the one he looked up and worshipped. Like stabbing a blunt spoon into the heart and slowly turning it.

Quote: “Ah sweet death, I await thy sweet embrace.”

  3. Di Gi Kazune says:

Let’s start… First, find that bookmark in spring catalogue.

How to bloody start… (the adverb already is not promising…)

To start off, there were signals that Urobutcher jumped ship because people were screwing around with the plot/endings/whatever. I still held hope despite the f**king WTF in episode 1. Urobutcher doesn’t always write a downer ending (Gargantia) but his usual fookshit happens endings are nicer. That out of the way, we begin the rest.

The Martian mecha were interesting concepts, basically God-equivalents of mecha. Except piloted by cocky, pompous and overconfident pricks. Even Saucybum. Yes, you have the king mecha on the battlefield. You eventually still are going to run into an equivalent cocky enemy. In this case, one Inaho. Fortunately, this improves once our anti-hero Slaine unites them. It was awesome finally seeing them work together instead of individually. See what happens when you work together using your advantages and send those Terran rats scurrying back. Unfortunately, suprise only works once in a battle (unless you have dumbass enemies) and constant adaptation and a proper plan is a must. Leading into the next episode where they all die. T_T Ah… Olga, Zebrin(Sebring) and Raffia, we barely knew thee…

Yes, you might say that their pride prevents them from working together. Well, they also say pride goeth before the fall.

    Next up, our characters:

    – Inaho was/is a bore in Season 1 and more so in Season 2 after his retrofit. He basically is a human computer. Like his strategic thinking of the big picture, but nothing else.

    – Slaine, the AntiHero. Very tragic one. Somehow gain +manylevels of experience in political manipulation since Season 1. Got more interesting. IMHO would defeat Inaho tactically (see how he planned it out in episode 2…) anyday. Except for his greatest flaw: blind fanatical devotion to his Asseylum-hime. Which caused his downfall in the end. Was really expecting that with the creepy/notcreepy way he kept her in a bactatank. But you can still hope…

    – Asseylum. Oh God. Words cannot express the naivety here. This kid here obviously sees things those rose-tinted contacts/glasses. Should really have stayed dead/comatose. Naive until the end. Character development zero.

    – Lemrina. Disliked her in the first half. Somehow started sympathizing with her midway. Character developed balls and started asserting herself instead of mopeing around about her tragic past/life/etc2.

I begin to see Sauzbaum’s view of he considers Aldnoah a stumbling block since control is firmly in the hands of the royal family. Asseylum. You cannot have a naive person with all this power.

Overall, it started out with WTF in the first episode, redeemed it self after that… until the last third of the final episode. It was good to see that Slaine in the end commanded the respect of the military despite his outcast origins. Even Bahcrouz grudging accepted him in the end and flew off into one last Glorious Charge. Which brings us to the last third which shat on everything.

Both Slaine and Inaho should have died during reentry. Slaine basically is commiting seppuku as he knows he has lost and his actions will condemn him. He’s trying to at least absolve his subordinates of their actions by accepting it all on himself. Dear Japan, writing an ending like this is the equivalent of you losing WWII and then putting Emperor Hirohito on trial AND imprisoning him.

Sad to say, Asseylum should have been more Ange-like.

Overall rating: A- (excluding the survival of people who should have been dead since the last season and the last third of the final episode. Does not deserve rating if you include any of the exclusions.

And now, I would like to read in detail Irene’s fanfiction epilogue on what should happen next in Aldnoah. Her initial draft was interesting. 🙂

I feel he just doesn’t care anymore about his projects like I told Jrow if it isn’t SHAFT of Ufotable he just doesn’t seem to put any effort into non Madoka/Fate series that he does these side projects for pocket money, but I could be wrong maybe he DOES try and it is because of the production staff screwing him over? Shirobaku shows us that there are in real in house arguments that CAN alter the direction of an anime! Like a writer having a different idea of an ending.

same that is a good score.

  4. BlackBriar says:

Aldnoah.Zero: I’m not sure what to feel about this finale. As a whole, the entire second half was so all over the place story wise that it’s difficult to give a solid, thought out opinion of it. More or less a happy enough ending after nearly two full years of planet scale war except our favorite maverick receiving a bittersweet ending of his own. In certain cases, one should be thankful for being alive but in Slaine’s case, that’s hardly meaningful if your movements are restricted. With his faint smile, I guess he was happy enough that it was Asseylum’s wish that he be allowed to live.

    • Foshizzel says:

I think things got really great with episodes 21-23 with all the plot and stuff happening with Asseylum/Slain/Lemrina/Inaho but with 24 it was like NOPE WERE GONNA END THIS WITH SO MUCH CHEESE! YAYYYYYYYYY!

Slain should have been killed by Inaho, but NOPE! HE GETS TO LIVE because as we said on the recording it looks as if there might be a third season down the road.

  5. Irenesharda says:

Well honestly I can’t say if I’m more disappointed or pissed at this ending. I haven’t seen such a loss of potential in a long time. At least with G-Reco, it hadn’t been very good for episodes so it wasn’t much of a surprise how bad the ending was. I wasn’t expecting the best from this finale either, but man…this was really bad.

It’s been a while since the finale and I’m still pissed off at it. I’ll be happy if I never hear the name “Aldnoah” again, they would have to pull some real magic to get me interested in any kind of sequel.

A series can be good all the way through but then a bad ending can pull it all down.
Mecha series just haven’t had good writers the last few seasons. Well at least it’s over. I’m done with this series. Hopefully Sidonia can bring life back to the mecha genre this coming soon.

    • Di Gi Kazune says:

Hmm… disappointment or pissed… Am still in WTF mode. Still wondering whether this series deserves archival status.

If the whole series was that crap, it would be in the ‘Tsukihime anime does NOT exist’ category. Alas, the whole vat of milk has been ruined just by a small batch of bad milk.

The scary thing is if I were in Slaine’s shoes, I would do exactly what he did. Except for the blind devotion thingy.

In the end Aldnoah was just a McGuffin with no bearing whatsoever to the direction of the show. It would have been better to address what was the root of the Martian hatred towards the Terrans.

      • BlackBriar says:

It would have been better to address what was the root of the Martian hatred towards the Terrans.

One of the reasons for that was already addressed. The Vers empire was jealous of the earth and its people for having more abundant resources while they live on barren, inhospitable lands on Mars.

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

They made the decision to go to Mars knowing full well it was hardship involved. You can’t really complain about that. And why did they declare independance? Was it because of the Olympus Mons Tea Party? Was it Taxation without Representation? One does not simply willingly go into a hostile environment, declare independence and covert the riches of the mother country they willingly cut themselves off from. It’s like if North America was a barren wasteland, the English colonized it, then the colonists rebelled and now the colonist want to conquer England.

And oh yes, the Colonists found something called Aldnoah in the Appalachians.

    • BlackBriar says:

Mecha series just haven’t had good writers the last few seasons.

In my opinion, the reason for that is due to a genre that’s become stale. It’s very and undeniably overused so the well of ideas is steadily drying up with little to replenish it. Take this into consideration. This Winter season just ended with 5 mecha animes. 2 Gundam shows, Cross Ange, Aldnoah.Zero and Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor – Exodus. 3 of these 5 were two-cours that began in Fall 2014. There’s that load and here comes Sidonia for Spring.

Another piece of evidence to this: Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen was a two-cour mecha anime that began Summer 2014. By time Sidonia finishes, it will be a year since Argevollen started. Take that into account and you have a whole year of one genre non-stop. One as ever-present as harem and ecchi.

I admit I watch mecha but it’s not my favorite genre, rather a minor interest at best. It’s not one I get hyped about in the slightest but doesn’t it’s particularly bad. There are limits. So I’m sure that had I watched the previously mentioned 5 mecha shows, I would’ve been bored with my perception blurred. It would be like watching the same thing but it’s just that certain parts are under different titles. Plus, I outgrew the Gundam franchise a long time ago. My last two goes back to the glory days of Toonami.

      • Foshizzel says:

Mecha series just haven’t had good writers the last few seasons.

Trueeee we also had Captain Earth, Eureka seven AO, Nobnaga ZA FOOL Gundam Reconguista, Argevollen, M3, Buddy Complex and personally Cross Ange for me is “bad” even though I hold Valvrave being higher cause I found it generally fun.

The best mecha this year have been Gundam Build Fighters TRY which I know most fans don’t really even consider as “mecha” since the characters fight with model kits instead of REAL robots which is fine I still qualify it as mecha.

As for WHY there are so many bad ones I really don’t know the answer to that because my perfect idea of how you do a legit mecha series goes back to the days of Gundam wing, Code Geass and Eureka Seven which did a great job of balancing the mecha battles while telling a great story.

It seems like today’s writers seem to spend more time on the battles and forced DRAMA instead of focusing on the actual story! Gundam Reconguista is the best example because visually it looks AMAZING but story wise it is confusing as hell and the dialog between characters doesn’t even make since 90% of the time and we might as well throw in A.Z into that as well…

  6. Irenesharda says:

However, in honor of the one good thing to come out of Aldnoah, and to my favorite character. Here’s the best English version of aLIEz out there:

    • Di Gi Kazune says:

      Ah Slaine, our tragic antihero.

    • Highway says:

I have to say that this is the best English version:

And I do like the original song. (I even liked the first season up until the end ripped it all to shreds) But this version is great.

      • Irenesharda says:

OMG, this is so hilarious! And yeah, I applaud anyone who can make a English version, because of how much the original lyrics are basically gibberish. I mean, seriously? Japanese, English, and German all in one sentence? And none of it makes sense?!

      • Foshizzel says:

<3 that parody version! Soooooo good xD

  7. BlackBriar says:

Some assistance, please. Spammy has kidnapped one of my comments.

  8. Apathy says:

Fumina’s got to be one of those rare heroine’s with the largest toyline in one season. Heck her last gunpla was basically two products already.

What disappoints me the most about TRY though is that Sekai didn’t do the Ultimate move with anyone. For a hot blooded gunpla fightah to not do the Sekiha Love Love Tenkyoken? Shame.

What was he still in puberty & hasn’t awakened to pure love’s power?

    • Foshizzel says:

      Fumina best girl! <3

I know right? I wanted Sekai to team up and so some cool attack, but it was mostly used on Yuuma and Fumina to be the ultimate team.

LOL well considering that TRY fighters is aimed at a younger audience I guess romance is out of the question xD

  9. Di Gi Kazune says:

I need opinion. Keep A/Z or reduce it to zeros? Right now balanced.
