First Impressions: Momo Kyun Sword

I bet this series has a great plot…

MOE MOE KYUNNNNN err I mean Momo Kyun Sword is finally here aren’t you excited? Just kidding I don’t think anyone is excited for this series, but with the flood of reverse harem anime this season it seems that Summer is seriously lacking in the ecchi department or will Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance give Momo Kyun Sword a run l for ecchi of the season? We shall see…

Momo is quite the cute character.

Momo’s first transformation! Not bad~

Oh hey its another damn genderbent anime! If you don’t know obviously this is a spin on the Japanese folk tale Momotaro and we have seen that character pop up in recent anime like Hoozuki no Reitetsu and I remember seeing him in the Smile Precure movie. Besides the simple origin story of Momo I have to say that this episode did a good job introducing us to the main character while showing us the reason she decides to fight the demons and it did a decent job showing us the end game for the series or the overall quest if you want to call it that which places Momo on a long quest to retrieve some stolen treasure. I guess whoever has the treasure gains some mystical power? Speaking of mystic stuff I enjoyed seeing that random team of elemental fighters who specialize in one element starting with Ringo, Suika, Maron and Karin? I don’t really have a favorite out of the bunch right now and to add even more magical stuff to the series apparently Momo can fuse with either Inugami, Sarugami and Kijigami aka those animal things that follow her around to gain some temporary power up that also gives her a new outfit depending on who she combines with. That part was a little strange especially when she suddenly grew a tail; however it didn’t really bother me all that much since magical girls are kinda my thing. So how about that epic fight scene after she fused with Inugami? THAT WAS EPIC! Well maybe epic is the wrong word here? It looked kind of cool and it proves she can fight when she really has too, but other than that I can’t think of a whole lot to actually say because overall it was kind of fun actually! I don’t know why but it was! So are you going to watch this or did it turn you off after ten minutes?

You better watch more.

End thoughts

So that was actually fun to watch and when you compare it to Blade and Soul or Maken-ki I would laugh because I have a feeling that Momo Kyun Sword will be nothing like those past failures, but who knows right? Also we have some decent fanservice in the form of boob physics, butt shots, wet clothes and of course easy tear clothing because that is a requirement and law to have that in just about every damn ecchi anime ever created! Now we just have to wait for Onihime to appear next week and it looks like she went the route of wearing little to no clothing because it makes her more powerful and when I was looking for images I came across this one of another character to be introduced later named Shiratama? I guess she will be the token LOLi of this series?

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

    I tried, but couldn’t…

I’ll watch this. I haven’t really ever seen the story of Momotaro anyway, so, like Oda Nobuna no Yabou, it’s something that’s different for me.

I have seen Oda Nobuna no Yabou! That was alright lots of cute characters, but too many LOLi’s you might like Sengoku Otome: Momoiro Paradox and Sengoku Collection~

I can work with this series after the opening. It has some Senran Kagura vibes which is not necessarily a bad thing and it’s not overbearing. Plus, I want to see Momoko’s rival Onihime in action. She looks to be a feisty, headstrong, doesn’t-like-to-lose kind of female.

If anyone’s interested in the meaning behind some of the characters’ names, here’s a few indications:

    Momoko (lit. peach child)
    Onihime (lit. ogre princess)
    Inugami (lit. dog god)
    Sarugami (lit. monkey god)
    Kijigami (lit. pheasant god)
    Ringo (lit. apple)
    Suika (pun of watermelon)
    Maron (lit. chestnut)

Senran Kagura indeed! I am curious to see Onihime fighting Momoka <3

Yeah the magical team = fruit team

i watch it yea this quite the peachy show to watch indeed my summer anime watching came alive from seeing it.

so our heroine is quite strong, air-headed, & peachy ok then give combine with her animal to different mode.

at least momoko is giving the other momotaro from den-o series a run for his train to watch.

I have such a weakness for fanservice-heavy shows about samurai/ninja/Japanese folkyore and I don’t know why…Once again I found myself oddly enjoying it. It’s not amazing or anything but it’s oddly fun. Dunno how long I’ll keep watching it but now it’s my guilty pleasure of the season

After finding out you were into a show like Senran Kagura, I’m not surprised you’d take a bit of a liking to this.
