First Impressions – Majimoji Rurumo

It’s like Waiting for Godot. Only there isn’t any waiting…

JC Staff returns with supernatural hijinks, ecchi oddness, and a peculiar romance. Is this Witchcraft Works? Nope, not even  close.

LOLi’s Falling from the Sky

…as the old saying goes, “wish in one hand…LOLi in the other”

Ah, poor Shibaki. How on Earth did he get saddled with “The Most Hentai Boy” handle? I mean, you would think things like flipping girls skirts in elementary school, having the most porno mags in middle school, and stalking girls for the chance of a panty shot in high school wouldn’t earn you a rep. So let’s just say that our boy has a rather lecherous heat on his sleeve. He meets a witch that will grant him a wish, and, yep, he wishes for girl’s panties. But it would be rather one note to leave it there. Good thing this fella has a good heart beating in his chest. He doesn’t let the girl down…

It’s the tiniest things that start it all…

But what is this witch? Ruromo is an odd duck. Taciturn, a bit bumbling, and not exactly one to follow the rules. Nevermind she is a cute LOLi.  Now whether or not she has a strict individual streak, or is a bit dense, or is playing one hell of a cute Batman Gambit is up in the air. She gets herself into quite a bit of trouble for her lack of follow up. The girl’s panties Shibaki wished for? Her’s. It was what she had close to hand. Oh, yeah, there’s a rule that no one can take possession of a witches possessions? Wait what? That get’s her into trouble with the Underworld Warden’s that punish witches for wrongdoing. It seem that in exchange for immortality and magical powers, they have a narrow set of rules to follow. Like killing the person that you grant a wish to. Yeah, she doesn’t follow up on that exactly to the letter either. Half a Sky Burial is just birds pecking you half to death. Yes, this happens…

But guess what? It’s all magical fun and games. With a young man’s life on the line. For all her rule breaking, Rurumo is demoted to a witch in training. And to get back in good graces she must get a mortal to spend a booklet of Magical Tickets. Each ticket is wishing power. The bigger the wish, the more tickets you burn. The more you burn the closer to death you get; last ticket burned….DESU DEATH! And so the wacky hijinks begin. Only, Ru doesn’t know of this last particular rule. Her familiar does, thou. Interesting, no?

…you know, between Illya/Kuroe, Naru, and Rurumo, the skylion is having a tough summer…

Magical Ecchi Things that are…

Show ▼

I really dig this show. It has just the right mixture of charm, quirk, and sadistic comedy. And it seems to be making rules up as it goes along. That could fall flat on it’s face, but in this case, moving goalposts seem to be the rule of the day for this show. What did you folks think?

I thought the OP was passable. But the ED was awesomecute…

I present Exihibit A: Yokodera Youto, the Hentai Prince. The most absolutely, positively, absotively Hentai Prince.

      … … …

This is the Magical Girl Version of Henneko. Rurumo = Tsukiko. Unfortunately, the is a lack of the best girl, Azuki Azusa!

Unlikely to be continuing, please blog and tell the juicy bits. 😛

Rurumo is an earlier work of mangaka Watanabe Wataru, creator of the popular shonen cycling manga Yowamushi Pedal. Rurumo came out in 2007, and continues to be released monthly.

Industry bloggers think the main reason Rurumo got an anime was due to Yowamushi’s popularity.

…so does that mean it will take it 18 episodes to burn through one ticket?

Unfortunately for everyone else, Chiro is #1! Reminds me of a certain black cat that accompanied a “apprentice demon”-nyaa.

Rurumo wins, though Illya comes in a close second (and the third place goes to kuro-Illya-chan of course).

And I thought that Shibaki putting panties on Rurumo was creepy, and then I saw a video on youtube of a creep locking girls thhrough her pants using a bike lock…

Well, so many unexpected surprises, I ended up keeping with Rurumo-chan, as well.

I think I’m going to leave this series here. I tried but couldn’t. There’s no way to put it specifically, but it wasn’t entertaining for me and the protagonist doesn’t strike me as interesting.

I can see where you are coming from; Shibaki has the brute force moron MC traits down to a science; but still gets a failing grade, eh?

      • BlackBriar says:

This is a weakness of mine. Maybe I’ll give this a shot, but after it’s completed its run. I’ve got more appealing series that have won my attention fairly well to watch. Until then, Majimoji Rurumo is going to be joining my backlog list. There’s definitely going to be some company to keep it from being lonely.

I have to admit, I like to watch to see if the storytellers can do something neat with the trope. If nothing else, cute LOLi witch…

I have no doubt that’s your strongest motivation.

              LAw of LOLi #3.

I’m more interested in how they play off the tickets episode to episode. If she twigs on to their nature, it will be interesting to see how that flavour whatever romance angle they explore…

skylion, licentious Demon King of LOLis.
