Log Horizon – 24

Triple evil glasses mode!

spring13-jrowJust one more ep of Log Horizon to talk about after this. So much is ending, even the wonderful Space Bros which had me a bit sad to see 99 would be its last ep. Anyway, Fosh & I talk about the solution that Shiroe finds to fight off the randomness that’s happening with the PotL in Akihabara.

spring13-foshNooooooooooooooo! There is only one episode left? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!! Anyway I hope you enjoy this awesome mini-talk.

It’s straight from the Anarchist’s Cookbook, a great approach is to just overwhelm the service based system with to much noise and not enough good signal.

And since it is random, relying on people to just increase the natural indignity they could feel to perceived poor service, the best way to counter…give em what they never knew they would have wanted. Babes.

And just who is this guy from the West? My goodness, he is literally made of bad kick the puppy tropes. I find it hard to take him seriously…I was thinking, “really, a troped up villain?”

I do love how Log Horizon has built up the world and has show how the characters are investing in their environment. It reminds me of how I would build game worlds for TRPG’s. I wanted my players invested in the game world…it wasn’t just a place that spat monsters and gold and magic items at them when they beat things up.

In short, the world they’ve built feels much more real, and the characters are great reflections on that.

OK, so for the next Talk.

    For both of you:

Who is your favorite character and why?

    For Fosh:

Who is the best LOLi? And why is it Minori?

    • Foshizzel says:

Hahaha yeah the new villain screams BADGUY especially with how he looks and his face also gives it away…

Favorite LOLi? There a lot to choose from but good question!

Tsk, all my favorite shows are ending! Why?!

He finally breaks!! So Shiroe isn’t all knowing and doesn’t have the answer for everything all the time. I guess he’s human after all. 😉 But I can see how he’d end up thinking it was an attack. All this random trouble out of nowhere is enough to raise suspicion.

His appearance had me thinking he’d be a goofy character that would be hard to take seriously but seeing him interact with the others, Marves turned out to be an insufferable bastard. His attitude was atrocious and in a way when he reached for Lenessia’s hair, I was reminded of Sword Art Online’s Sugou and he was despicable.

    • skylion says:

Yeah, I disliked the character so much I forgot his name. Why did they introduce this thing right at the end. Doesn’t it feel like they undermined some of the verisimilitude they’ve been building for six months?

    • Krono says:

Although the princess doesn’t want to cause political tension or whatever, can’t she tell him to treat the adventurers with respect or leave? Since she is hosting the event it is within her right to kick unruly guests out. I just think she should have at least stepped up and warned him of that before Shiroe came to save the day

      • Highway says:

Marves is intentionally trying to gin up a pretext to start a conflict, either with Akihabara / Round Table or with Eastal. No matter how much affinity Lenessia has for the adventurers, she’s still an emissary for Eastal, and so can’t just blow off this guy.

        • Krono says:

Ugh…Politics. Life would be so much simpler if she could do that. Since she is only a princess it makes sense I suppose that she does not have the political clout to tell him to leave without repercussions. Politics just make everything headache inducing. You are right that that is probably just what he wants to drum up conflict. Hopefully Shiroe can figure out a way to diffuse things.

  3. Highway says:

Marves shows up the same week that Midosuji shows up in Yowamushi Pedal. They’re pretty much the same character: psychopathic jackass. I think they’re overdoing it with the “This is the obvious bad guy” signals, tho. And you wonder why he’s got Adventurers as bodyguards, except you don’t wonder because you know it’s done just to make it be more obvious that he’s the bad guy and they’re bad guys as well.

    • Foshizzel says:

I am two episodes behind on Pedal but I know who you are talking about because both characters look CREEEEPY! I also wondered why he has adventurers as bodyguards when he clearly hates them? I guess hes a bit screwy…

  4. Di Gi Kazune says:

The fox lady is Shiroe’s exGF.

People with megane are by default evil.

I sooo want the dark glasses pic as a proper wallpaper now!!

    • skylion says:

It’s all the rage isn’t it? Welcome to Metanorn levelplus! As for glasses, I have to make due with my middle age “almost need them for reading” specs. I will never be a megane villain.
