At least Fatso Shiroe is not a lolicon or wants to bone underaged lolis. *adjusts glasses with finger*

    Cannot remember the rest I wanted to add after watching the episode over the weekend. ^^;;;

    • Di Gi Kazune says:

      Forgot to add:
      DELICIOUS CAEK!!!

    • skylion says:

      Minori is 14.

      • Krono says:

And since Shiroe is a ways into college I’d say there is a bit of an age difference

        • Foshizzel says:

Yeaaaah I think there is a bit of a gap in age LOL

          • skylion says:

Well, at least it really isn’t adult/LOLi after all. But as I say below, the relationship between the two is something more than romantic.

            • Foshizzel says:

Would it be more one sided love/innocent crush type of thing? I could see it being something like that, but sooner or later she will have to say something to Shiroe and then he would have to give her some kind of answer without it being a straight up “no” or “sorry but I actually have feelings for someone else” but either way its not going to be good for Minori.

            • skylion says:

I think if it goes like I was saying, him passing his legacy on to her, then she will be more than OK. But I could be wrong…

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

        isn’t it DELICIOUS CAEK! age?

  2. Highway says:

Minori crushing on Shiroe is like any middle school girl having a crush on that cute teacher who helps her out. If Shiroe figures out that that’s what Minori is after, I think he’ll shut that down as quickly as he can. And it’s not really their ages, as that matters little in an online game. It’s more that he should (and likely would) recognize their relative positions, their relative maturity, and why Minori is attracted to him.

Akatsuki, on the other hand, is college-aged, and in all ways (except her choice of fealty) is equivalent to Shiroe. She just has to get him away from thinking of her as a kid because of how she looks. It would also help if she would sometimes not treat him as her master or parent.

I don’t really see Henrietta as someone who would chase Shiroe. Maybe if they just mutually decided it, they’d get together, but she wouldn’t be after him.

    • skylion says:

It’s pretty good they paced the revelation of Minori’s crush along with Akatsuki realizing she has to up her game. It’s not even in the cards that a middle school aged girl is competition, but that card shows up none the less in Akatsuki’s hand. If only they could have progressed her character more the last five or six episodes. She’s felt like piece of furniture.

      • Highway says:

Well, it’s just unfortunate that she had to play fly on the wall at the conference, which put her out of the action. But it’s also one of those things that Akatsuki’s ‘action’ isn’t really that exciting for TV, not like the rookies’ fighting. Basically, Akatsuki is ‘You didn’t see me… and now you’re dead.’ So even if she had been out doing things with the rest of everyone, she’s not much of focus.

We’ll see how they split the rest of the series between Minori and Akatsuki. My hope is that they pull the camera off Minori and her hopeless crush and more onto Akatsuki as we go through these last couple episodes. But sad moe girl might be what they think is a bigger draw (although it is still NHK), so we might be up for two episodes of angsty Minori.

        • skylion says:

Yeah, I’m tempted to write my own sad moe girl series. I could use the mad cash.

    • Foshizzel says:

I mean sure if they are never ever going to leave the game I could see the whole age doesn’t really matter since they are stuck in the game even though I think is impossible because seriously it has to have some kind of toll on their real bodies.

Akatsuki is probably 100 times more mature than Minori but we could argue that she isn’t based on how she acts in the game and her short child-like appearance doesn’t really help but I agree with Highway if she wouldn’t treat Shiroe like a master/parental figure they could get closer!

With Henrietta it was just a hint nothing more.

      • skylion says:

Well, with Minori leading the charge, and Akutsuki having to scramble to get into position, maturity is already somewhat decided.

        • Highway says:

I dunno, I think actually having some pressure is good for Akatsuki, even if she’s not comfortable with it (that’s the whole point, innit?). She was falling into that “I guess it’s just ok to be near him all the time” idiocy, and having Minori try to cozy up to him will light a fire under her butt, as we’ve seen. It’s still pretty obvious that Minori’s got a girly teen crush, so it’s not a huuuuge threat, but it’s enough to be a catalyst.

          • skylion says:

The fact that is it a huge threat is so funny. But then, neither Shinoe nor Akatsuki get to see that last scene.

  3. Raiyuu says:

Nature of the crush aside, I think a 10 year age difference in Japan is negligible regarding the dating range. Still, Minori should probably have to wait and mature some more before something between two could actually work.

    • Foshizzel says:

Amen! I think she should wait a bit! That gap in age makes things tough for poor Minori.

      • BlackBriar says:

The downside for her is that Akatsuki might already have Shiroe by time she’s old enough.

        • skylion says:

          …love hurts…

          • Foshizzel says:

True that! I mean just take a look at Nagi no Asakura or Golden Time those shows are great examples of “love hurts” because someone is going to end up alone as in Minua and Linda…

          • Di Gi Kazune says:

            Have some delicious Caek instead.

            • BlackBriar says:

I thought people usually eat ice cream when they’re sulking. 😉

            • skylion says:

I usually have smokes and whiskey when I am sulking. Note, this isn’t different from when I am not sulking….

  4. BlackBriar says:

When he’s not strategizing for a battle, Shiroe is very socially inept. The festival will be a good way for him to break out of shell. For someone reason, he reminded me of Mayo Chiki’s Jirou. Speaking of that show, I was almost expecting a reference while he was getting the evil eye for having two girls at his side. Like “The bastard’s dual wielding!”.

Even if Shiroe was aware of Minori’s feelings, I doubt he’d consider it because he’d concern himself with her age whereas Akatsuki would have a stronger chance since she’s already an adult. Akatsuki did look good in a kimono.

    • skylion says:

I’m hoping the story is more about Minori coming to grips with that fact, rather than Shinoe rationalizing it. Much of the second cour has been about him becoming ready to pass the strategy baton to her and her ready to accept it…he has much much bigger things on the horizon.

    • Foshizzel says:

Right Shiroe is all good when hes in battle mode, but out of combat he is bad at talking to people or realizing that people have feelings for him…

      • skylion says:

I think he actually realizes how bad he is…

        • Foshizzel says:

Right he did realize that near the end that he really needs to start acting like a real guild leader and actually interact with his guild members a bit more.

          • skylion says:

Not just a guild leader, but a practitioner of World Changing magic; and he has unknown competition. With that in mind, any shipping will likely stay in dry dock.
