I miss the Nexus 7 I borrowed from a friend a month or so back. I watched at least three episodes of R:N on that thing…cause it was hawt….still warm for dat nekomimmi/meido app!

I really enjoyed this show, thanks to the Meta Team for great reviews and comments for the past half a year! We went from a fairly good slice of high school life series, to a save the world with the power of robots show in short order, and I loved every minute of it. If there is any justice in the world Frau and Airi will get an OAV….

Tony StarkAkiho built this thing giant robot in a caveat least one advanced facility devoted to said task, and with the expertise of the Japanese Space Agency, on two occasions with a box of scraps utilizing some pretty awesome bespoke machine tools.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ooooh nice and agreed with that neko ear app! MUST HAVE <3

Why thank you Skylion! I had a lot of fun talking about Robotic;Notes every week with OC, Kyokai, Jrow and Lvlln they always had interesting things to talk about every week and I would love an OVA with Frau~

Ahahaha nice now I can picture Aki wearing an Ironman suit xD

  2. Ceyrai says:

The robot shows I usually watch are the serious epic war drama type. I love how despite the seriousness of the situation and some very dark scenes, Robotics;Notes kept is lightheartedness till the end. I was satisfied with how everything was, even down to the cheesiness of the motivational speeches. It was definitely one of my favorite shows for the recent Fall/Winter season.

Also, I ship Subaru x Frau. :3 Actually, a Frau x everyone OVA would be pretty sweet. I LOVE Frau.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yes! Robotic;notes did a good job blending in all the serious end world drama with lots of lightheartedness and we might as well throw in some romance as well xD

Cheesy but oh so good <3

Greatest shipping = Frau with everyone! I SUPPORT THIS.

  3. Kyoto says:

Loved the show, despite the hipster mafia naysayers. They’re really insecure people. Anyone know what was up with the monopoles? I don’t think it was ever really explained where they came from… Only that they conveniently fell from the sky at certain points. There was a lot Steins;Gate asides I enjoyed as well… If someone can point me to the VN and a translation, that’d make me… Happy ;D

    • D-LaN says:

The VN is on PS360…. So the chances of a TL patch are….. yeah.

No confirmation, but I believe the monopoles are due to KK experiments or something. I dunno.

      • Highway says:

I think the monopoles were just a natural phenomenon that were discovered in the sun. Kimijima was a software guy, it seems, while monopoles are by definition a rare phenomenon (They theoretically exist in our time, we’ve just never found or observed one).

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah it was a entertaining series even though it moved kind of slow at the start, as for the Monopoles I would side with Highway on that and VN stuffs I guess follow D-LaN! I have no idea if there are any translations yet…

    • Kansokusha says:

NASA’s Ulysses had already discovered the monopoles around the sun, but that info was concealed by the Committee. Kimijima uses that knowledge and instructs Geji-nee to emit electromagnetic radiation into the geomagnetosphere with the radar tower for many years, trying to pinpoint a perfect coordinate for him to detonate the BHB, and the monopoles are just a byproduct that indicates a success of the experiment. When Kai retrieves the 2nd report on Jul 31, he accidentally adjusted the antenna to the right direction. Monopoles start falling from the sky on Aug 11. How ironic that Kimijima is defeated by his own misdeeds. Kai, Misaki, monopoles, Noah IV, all backfired.

      • D-LaN says:

Thk a ot for the VN stuff! Man you should definitely make a master list of the (important) stuff they cut out/derped in the anime XD

      • Foshizzel says:

Whooaaaa I did not even think about the antenna that Kai moved! Damn…xD

      • lvlln says:

That’s pretty fascinating stuff! Would’ve been nice if the show had bothered to explain some of it. Though the explanation is largely unsatisfying too – by what mechanism are humans able to pull monopoles that are over 8 light-minutes away from the extremely powerful gravitational field of the Sun to the tiny target of the Earth?

      • Kansokusha says:

        @lvlln

Nah, they didn’t pull monopoles from the Sun. Though it lacks detailed scientific explanation, it seems that the monopoles are created when the electromagnetic irradiation inteacts with a specific part of the geomagnetoshphere where it’s affected most by the last solar storm in 2015. Kimijima said he should of executed Project Atum in 2015, it just got delayed when he was killed by Misaki back in 2010. Sawada’s limited information indicates that Kimijima is going to detonate the BHB in a coordinate 13k km away from the Earth, a place where the geomagnetosphere is hit by the solar wind. It will generate an artificial substorm, the resulting explosion striking the Earth directly. I think Sawada said it’s something to do with magnetic reconnection, I don’t know, I’m not a physics guy XD

  4. JapanInspired says:

Kimijima Kou! I will erase you with my Ipad!

I will surely miss Frau. Maybe I should make like a video with cut scenes with my favorite moments with Frau-san, lol.

    • Foshizzel says:

Muhahahahah down with Kimijima Kou! What a jerk face!

I will miss Frau as well she was always the highlight of every episode of Robotic;Notes <3

  5. Highway says:

While R;N was a great show from a character standpoint and had a nice buildup, I was a bit disappointed with the end. Like you guys mention, it kinda just kept the big boss battle for the very end. And then after that was done, it was just “We did it! The End!” Comparing that to three other shows that just finished,Show ▼

Robotics;Notes just kind of dumped us out at the end. Hell, we didn’t even get a hug or kiss from Aki and Kai at the end. The dude who just confessed to you yesterday, who you’ve loved for a decade, just saved the world, and you’re just gonna ride next to him in the back of the truck and talk platonically? That felt like a big letdown.

I thought the battle was fine, I’m not much of a mech connoisseur, so I don’t really care if they look all cool or not. I thought the matchup was interesting: the light, fast, but not very strong Sumeragi / second stage vs the large, blocky, slow, but highly resilient GunPro. I didn’t think it too unrealistic that it turned out the way it did.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep! Compared to the endings of Sakurasou, Psycho Pass and Shin Sekai Yori I feel Robotic;Notes missed out on creating the “best” ending! I would have loved to see what happened to EVERYONE after they saved the world, like does Aki and Kai’s kids take over building robots of the future? What happened to Subaru and Frau? I don’t really care to much for Junna, but still I WANT TO KNOW MORE!

I figured Aki would be all over Kai for saving everyone and since they smooooched last time!? Ah well T_____T

The mecha nerd inside me says Kai would have got owned faster by Kimijima Kou especially with that smaller machine, but in the end cardboard box gunpro 1 saves the day hahah

  6. BlackBriar says:

Robotics;Notes was fun while it lasted and I had a good time watching it over the past six months. Not to mention listening to the podcasts from you guys. The best part was that there were no high expectations on the story to ruin the viewing. The ending, however, left much to be desired, it was very vague to understand and it made Kai’s confession last episode feel a bit insignificant. I mean, there wasn’t even a kiss between the two.

I’m glad Kimijima Kou finally got dealt with. The guy made my skin crawl. He really had to go. Though I want an explanation to what he meant by there will be a second and third him. Whether there are more copies of his programs or if someone else with his misguided ambitions will come along.

LOL at Nae and her small gang staring at the bad guys like a bunch of creepers waiting for the opportunity for an ambush. Idealistically, that’s an underhanded plan of attack not facing your enemy but all’s fair in love and war. And in war, niceties are the first thing to become a casualty.

Other than the robot fight which felt rush because it was on the last episode, the focus was on Kai. I don’t know whether to call it an immunity development or pure dumb luck. Aki used the N IV three times to help him but he doesn’t pass out and rejoins the group in celebration whereas he passed out the first time when he found it. He erased the Kill Ballad game, meaning he can’t use it as an excuse when someone wants a favor from him.

Best character of the entire cast goes to Frau. I just love her perverted and oddball attitude, she all over the place and pops up when no one’s expecting it. She will surely be missed.

    • Foshizzel says:

Well thanks for sticking around for all the mini podcasts BB! I feel the same about the ending…I mean I was super excited to see it, but I knew in the back of my mind that it wouldn’t be AMAZING; however I feel the characters shine more than the actual plot of Robotic;Notes and I know! WHY NO KISS AT THE END? DAMN.

Yep down with Kimijima Kou! I certainly hope there are no more copies of his AI floating around on the internet xD

      Nae ftw~

I am surprised Kai’s heart did not suddenly explode, but the mecha fight wasn’t that impressive…then again their cardboard box machine got lucky thanks to Kai’s super slow mo powers.

FRAU! I MISS YOU! HNNNNNNNGGG MY HEART T_______T
