    Vividred: lvlln’s got the fighting words going dissing the characters in GuP. 😉

    But the characters in Vividred aren’t nearly as interesting to me as the ones from GuP. I find Rei’s story somewhat interesting, and hope they do more with it, although I’m not a huge fan of the Faustian Bargain storyline. I’m more interested in the upstream effects of the Incarnate / Manifestation Engine. Are the Alone fighting it because, like Rei, their worlds / dimensions have been disrupted / destroyed by it? And what will happen when Grandpa is informed about those effects? How will the world get out of this?

      Rei is an interesting character, a bit too composed of tropes at this moment, Faustian Bargains being what they always are.

      And that is what I was thinking as well, an entire stream of devastated words.

    Senran Kagura: “Our heroes” are dopes. One of them is completely useless, and the other four put together couldn’t beat one of the Hebi Academy girls. Maybe they’ll get better, maybe we’ll get epic training montage or something, but as it is, I’m with Fosh: the “evil team” is much more interesting, competent, and exciting.

    Sakurasou: I still think Nanami torpedoed her own ship this episode. She made the epic confession, she got the hug in there even, and she had Sorata thinking about that and ONLY about that. And then she let him laugh it off. What would have happened if she’d hopped off the bike right then, kissed him, and then run off to her audition? I’ll tell you what: Sorata wobbles back to school / Sakurasou in a daze, not thinking “OMG I left Mashiro there”, but thiking “OMG Nanami…” and replaying “zutto… zutto… Daisuki da yo!” in his head over and over. Poor Mashiro would never have a chance.

    But no, she didn’t do that. Oh well.

    Jin’s still being a selfish jerk, imo. Sure, he wants to equal Misaki, but is breaking her heart on the way a good way to do it? Even when he was screwing around with the other girls, she got to see him, but now he’s all “I’ma be a monk and bro out with this guy and cockblock him cause now Hau-Hau can’t come over and get some either…” Man up, Jin!

    Maoyuu Maou Yuusha – 05: So Fosh is in control this week. In my opinion, the merchants at the start are nothing but greedy bastards that will do anything, even sell their souls for money. They’re not even considerate with how many people might die in the war and they do is profit from it.

    The demon girl hanging Yuusha is pretty cute and like you said, it’s nice to see different kinds of demons around other than Maou, who other than having her blood red eyes, looks very human for someone who has demon blood let alone the one who rules over the entire clan. Their dance was good but their lovers’ quarrel was better. That typical hugging and reminiscing after not seeing each other for a certain amount of time thing got shot down. That was a plus and I didn’t see it coming.

    It’s nice that Knight accepted everything she was told by Yuusha so calmly, that he and Maou made a contract. However, I was expecting a little jealousy but didn’t see much of it which was awkward to say the least. The interesting development here is that if Knight makes a friendship with Maou, it’ll make a conflict of interest since she’s the Prioress of the Lakeside Convent and that she serves the Holy Light.

    Maoyuu: As much as I’m not a big romance fan…things are really a lot better when the Demon Lord and the Hero are together. Oh well, at least we see some demons this week!

    Vividred: Yeaahhh, I’d be worried about sticking the barrel of a gun between my buttcheeks too.

    Kuroki isn’t a very interesting character since she’s so painfully predictable…I miss the action sequences too. The magical girl ones. Even the transformation scenes pack more of a punch than Kuroki’s fight with the security bots :B Now that all the girls have been introduced, I hope the ball really gets rolling now.


    Senran Kagura:
    Mirai is the best ninja ever. I don’t even know how you could look at her and call that a ninja but WHATEVER.

    Maoyuu 04: Don’t let the lack of music stop you! Come on!!!! We need some romancey fanservice! This isn’t musical chairs, or even musical smooches. You’re an adult couple, quit acting like kids. *grumpgrumpgrump*

    But I think Yuusha’s purpose that he’s found is nice. It’s kind of funny that they keep referring to all this power he has, but they haven’t shown it. Carving up the fields, able to blow up a city, but he’s got enough morality to wield it carefully.

    Vividred Operation – 05: Finally an episode centered on the mystery girl Rei. Her attempt on the Manifestor Engine was good but short lived. It would have been to it extended but it’s sad that she’s forced to live alone until her end of the bargain is held up. Since the crow said the Manifestor Engine went critical and caused a meltdown, I’m guessing Rei is from a different timeline.

      I guess you’re watching different subtitles than I am. The ones I was watching said that “Incarnate Energy has run amok… and obliterated your world.” I took that to mean that the Manifestor Engine is either pulling energy from alternate dimensions, or dumping entropy or something in alternate dimensions or worlds. It would be pretty weird if another world had a Manifestor Engine that blew up and destroyed just that world. If that was the case, I don’t see where the Alone would care. But if the Alone live in spaces that aren’t necessarily dimensions, then disrupting the flow of energy through those dimensions could affect them.

      Anyway, that’s my hypothesis on the Manifestor / Incarnate Engine. TANSTAAFL

        I think the Alones are drawn to the energy the Manifestor Engine is exuding and Rei is simply taking advantage of the opportunity by manipulating them. At first, I thought she was the one calling them out but it’s turning out to be random occurances.

          Here’s my hypothesis on the Alone:

          I’m pretty sure the Alone are actively trying to destroy the Manifestor Engine. From what the crow said (Hey, it’s Nemesis again!), they are something like interdimensional beings that exist not in a specific plane or dimension. Since my hypothesis is that the Incarnate / Manifestor Engine pulls energy through these interdimensional spaces, this disrupts the Alone, and they want to stop this. So they themselves manifest attack forms to try to destroy it.

          Rei has made a deal with the Alone, that uses the emotional energy of her grief for her lost world and life to imbue the Alone attack forms with greater power. This is why she’s compelled to stay aloof and outside of world of humans that Akane and others are in. If she was to become friends, or become attached to this world, her ability to power up the Alone would wane or disappear.

          I don’t know what the crow’s connection to the Alone is, whether it’s some Kyuubey-like agent for them, whether it’s actually an Alone manifested into a bird shape, or something else.

      Rei was badass this episode.
      I’m wondering if she has to shoot 7 more arrows for the deal to be completed, or if she has 7 more chances to help the alone destroy the Engine. I think it’s probably the latter, in which if she fails to destroy the engine within those lasting 7, then all those arrows she shot would have been for nothing, since she couldn’t help them destroy it, therefore their deal is void.

      I’m also liking Akane more as a character now. She didn’t really stand out to me this episode, but this episode really expressed her imo, along with Rei of course.

        I got the idea that the feather tattoos on her neck represented 7 more chances to help the Alone destroy the Engine. So as her number of arrows remaining decreases she should start to become more and more desperate. Which would give a chance for drama centered on her as well as the drama of the other girls fighting the Alone.

          Yeah, this is what I’m thinking as well. It’s also a nice idea by the Alone: If the power up is based on the emotions in Rei’s heart, then inducing a fear of failure will likely heighten those emotions, making the subsequent Alone more powerful.

        Rei is very much in the Dark Magical Girl territory that we all loved Homerun-chan operating in. I have no doubt that Rei will have her “You were my best friend” moment in the series at some time (that’s a reference to the last episode of Madoka)

        I did enjoy the action very much. It felt like they should have kept that up and not revealed the motive this early on. Feels like the tires are to full of air now, so to speak.

        typoooo really stand out to me this episode, but this episode but I guess you guys got what I meant XD

        Sasami also revealed a bunch of stuff early on, but I’ve enjoying the 2 episodes even after they told us everything. Hopefully same thing with Vividred, since I’m just starting to like it now (I was screaming eps 1-3 at the fusions)

    Senran Kagura – 05: This is more like it. The girls needed a wake up call to realize the bad girls aren’t playing around. Ikaruga and Katsuragi were serious about the threat of their enemies, Asuka was being naïve about Homura but the other two were clueless and basically useless. They’re the worst members in the group in my opinion.

    The bad girls certainly have more appeal. I’m crushing first and foremost on Homura. Second goes to Hikage. Her appearance is erotic but I can’t seem to ignore how snake like she looks. Since Senran shares similar elements with the Naruto universe, her appearance reminds me a lot of Orochimaru. Especially her eyes and the way she sticks out her tongue.

    I think the dark ninja girl’s teacher, Suzune, is actually that girl Rin the good girl’s sensei mentioned a few episodes back. The body structure and hair color looked the same.

      Ahh, to me, Yagyuu is actually the least overmatched of any of the Hanzou girls. She might actually have the advantage over Mirai, who honestly seems pretty terrible. She may have the gimmicks, but she’s no better at using them than Inspector Gadget. Yagyuu’s huge weakness is that she thinks she needs to protect Hibari, who I agree is completely useless.

      Katsu is just so overconfident, she doesn’t have the skills to back it up, or the temperament to realize her weaknesses. Ikaruga might realize her weaknesses too much, and kind of gets beaten by her mind.

      And Asuka’s just not a good ninja. She’s lucky she’s against Homura, because Homura kind of likes her, and will likely go easy on her.

      They all need to get a lot better.

    Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – 17: If Misaki ever opens a chocolate shop, I’d definitely be a customer. Sorata has managed to save face in front of both Nanami and Mashiro but Mashiro is becoming even more difficult to predict. A big contrast between who she was and who she currently is.

    I thought Nanami finally was ready to make her confession but then tries to shrug it off as rehearsal. It was forced on her part but at least Sorata is beginning to pick up on how she feels.

    Another thing on my mind is the Rita x Ryuunosuke scenario. I wondering when he’s going to finally get it through that thick skull of his that Rita likes him. If someone makes a long distance trip to see you, the least you could do is oblige by so much as talking to them face to face. Maybe now that she told him the kiss she gave was her first, maybe something will sink in.

      That scene where Rita dropped her head against the door because Ryuunosuke wouldn’t come out was the first time I was able to see her as a 17 year old girl, instead of someone older like Ayano or Chihiro.

      I think Ryuunosuke just didn’t know what he would do, having Rita drop in on him, he’s totally unprepared, he *couldn’t* be prepared. He barely gets along with people who don’t care much about him, and Rita shows up wanting to tell him that she loves him? I really do think he’s interested, he’s just overwhelmed and unable to deal with it.

      From what the episode hinted, looks like it took him atleast like a week to write that email. I want them to be together quicker!! *yes I just caught up to Sakurasou lol watched ep 18 too, then I realized this was ep 17 post

    Senran Kagura – Katsuragi vs. Hikage, a battle of unbuttoned shirt against unzipped pants. Most appropriate rivalry of the 5. 😉

    It’s certainly far from good, but now that I’ve caught up and I kinda like some of the characters, I’ll stick around. Evil characters >>> good characters.

    Vividred: I guess they thought we weren’t getting enough loli ass shots in previous episodes so they wanted to make up for it in this one.

    I agree that it would have been nice for Rei’s attempt on the Manifestation Engine and battle with the security bots to have lasted longer. However, a longer battle would have reduced the time spent on the main thrust of this episode (besides loli ass). To wit, Rei’s motivation and Akane’s attempts to make friends with her. It’s okay to go easy on the action once in a while, especially when the time is spent on character development and motivation. And we also learned something about the Alone, making them no longer just monsters who show up for the heroines to battle. They also have a reason for what they’re doing besides just pure cussedness.

    With the next episode being the beach episode we might not get much fighting action in it either, except perhaps at the end. I could see the anime team ending that episode on a cliff hanger with the Alone appearing and the start of a battle. And perhaps with the girls learning that Rei is a foe (for the time being since we know before the end of the anime she’ll be a friend and ally).

    It’d be intersting to see the Crow (although I favor Raven) and Kyubey to met. Would they team up or fight?

      I’m liking Vividred alot more than I did the last few eps now. I thought it was pretty boring, but this episode didn’t let me down. Yuri-fusion Docking scenes were hilarious up until the third ep, now I got over it haha.

      That crow is a major BETCH. I hate that evil crow.

    Vivid Kinda Bland Black Operation:I have to agree with you, lvlln, it feels like they phoned more parts of this one in than not. This feels like sixth or seventh episode reveals; unless they pull more out of the bag, and I’m not really hopeful for that.

    So far, it’s DAT ASS that is the water in this show’s wheelhouse. And since next week is the Beach Episode, it looks like they might just keep that water flowing…

    I do, however, enjoy some of the ideas presented via the Manifest/Incarnate Engine. I’ve always grooved on the spaces between dimensions, anything is game, and so long as they don’t stretch their own rules out too much, it should be more interesting than not.

      I think it’s to tempt us to cheer for the evil team. It must be a moral test for the viewers. They’re more appealing. After all, it’s much easier to want to be bad than it is to want to be good. Being bad, you easily give in to your selfish impulses. Being good, it’s work to live up to expectations and morality and such.

        Well, the last minutes reveal, and Sensei’s turn to hidden information may be a bit a clue. The good ninja’s might not be so good.

        But, damn, so far, I love team evil. It has a loli with a dress that would put both Nyalko and Kuuko to shame.

        Well, also pushing us to root for the evil team is how banal and useless the ‘good’ team is. We’ve gotten more character development on the evil team than we have on the supposed main character of the story, Asuka. So far she’s just terrible.
