Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma✫Illya 2wei Herz! – 2weitte

2weiherz! 2-6

This is just too good not to make my lead image!

Well, this is my second of three shows this week to cover that feature the good old beach/onsen/fudo/sento theme; I.E. fanservice. Chaos Dragon and Classroom Crisis did pretty well covering both that theme along with both plot and character. How does Prisma Illya stack up?

Well, all in all, it’s a packed episode. They crammed two, twenty or so page chapters into this, only leaving a few bits and pieces behind. As far as overall plot is concerned we got to see the Luvia and Rin plan they had last episode reach it’s next step. That mysterious construction is to help them get to the next Class Card; the eighth of seven? But leaving that aside this one was pure wack-a-mole goofiness.

Seino! Umi da!

2weiherz! 2-1

Tatsuko making dat entrance!

As far as beach episodes go, we got spoiled on the swimsuits last time. Of course, Tatsuko just has to surprise us, but then she’s that sort of character. Which is something to keep in mind for the far future of this franchise. I bring up both Chaos Dragon and Classroom Crisis on purpose; not just to remind you to watch them and comment! Their respective fanservice episodes served to underscore both the characters we have at present, to introduce some plot points, and to give us a bit of a breather before the real action heats up. I’ve heard a bit of scofflaw on the ‘net (imagine that!) about how boring the show is compared to last season. Where is the fighting? Well, if my manga-to-adaptation math is correct, I’ll say the fourth one; or should I say 4iertte…?

We need time for character development. BL doesn’t write itself!

2weiherz! 2-8

…and that reminder that Miyu takes everything up to 11!

Tricolore Birthday

2weiherz! 2-14

Happy LOLi Birthday!

A LOLi is neither late, nor early. A LOLi arrives exactly when she means to. This includes that celebration of the anniversary of your birth. It brings your family and friends together to enjoy good times. You also get presents and lots of good food; which is exactly the text book explanation they have to give to Miyu. She’s an academic over-achiever, but the simple things just seem to allude her. She doesn’t give off the best of vibes about her past, so perhaps birthdays are one of the subjects she had felt more comfortable without. Good thing she has this insane crew to inject the very best into the proceedings.

Plot Stuff

2weiherz! 2-15

“Move along, nothing to see here”. As they discussed last episode, the Eight of Seven Class Card is somehow buried under the sea bed, and leave it to plot convenience rich girl to find a way to dig down to it quickly. Now, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids…

Random Stuff

2weiherz! 2-13

Well Tatusko has a tough looking Dad, a lovely mother, and at least one of her brother’s is moonlighting here from another show. (he’s the on standing right behind her)But they run a beach bar, cause it makes more money for the family in summer than their dojo does. I kinda like the fact that Tatsuko is well protected. She’s the main character in her own life, after all. Just look at that glow! So this family is happy to host the birthday party for her friends, and they also serve to employ a certain supporting character…

Bazett is back, and she’s fallen on some rather hard times. It’s touch for a magical enforcer. It looks like the Mage’s Association cared for the destruction of Luvia’s home about as much as Luvia did. They stuck last series bull-in-the-china-shop with the reconstruction bill. Maybe they should have sent someone who’s weapon of last resort wasn’t a bloody time travel Noble Phantasm wrecker.  But she’s back, and don’t think she’s going to be playing this type of role for long. That Bull will come in very handy.

2weiherz! 2-17

Well for some fool reasons, Illya is caught in the middle of about three random disputes. Nanaki is angry at both Luvia and Rin for some sort of anger-Shiro-issue related shenanigans that always creep up with those two. The long and short is that, don’t even ask me why, her sister has developed a phobia of frogs. This would be fine, I guess, but that somehow makes Luvia think that Shiro is somehow taking sides with Rin in the dispute when he speaks up, which drags Issei into it. Kuro is quick to point out that Illya should solve all this; as it’s her friend and her mentor in the middle….and now you know the reason for the chase, as we can almost see Kuro smiling at the trouble she’s caused her magic twin.

Bazett just wants to sell more overpriced ice treats, and when Illya is in trouble, then Ruby cannot be far behind with her own brand of mischief. Truth potions, peace potions, and a Shiro directed love potion rounds out the mayhem. He didn’t do too well with the truth potion….

Thank goodness for Mimi and her lack of character. She unwittingly saves Illya and Shiro from mayhem induced rampant love juice inspired action. As you can see above, she didn’t get a hypo to the head….

2weiHerz! 2-endcard

Endcard…for great justice!

But, all is well that ends well. All the kids had a good time, and both the audience and the Magical Three get a much needed breather before the big push. As you might know, I really hate predicting where an adaption will go next. But even with that in mind it looks like the next episode is going to be battle prep, with the fourth episode the first act in opening the Big Can of WhoopArse. As I see it, that will the focus for the rest of the series, with a few brief moments of antics and breather spots here and there. Of course, I could be wrong, so we shall see what’s up as the weeks unfold, as next week’s episode is titled “Girls, life is short, so rot away”. Hmmmmm….

A Missed Opportunity?

I really do wish they would have animated that crash. It’s not like they’ve spared Tatsuko any other time…

    *hasn’t caught the episode yet*

Aw man, they cut Tastsuko getting hit by the car? I was looking forward to that. 🙁

Dat sunlight. Blocking the good bits!

And why did delicious Kuro from a cute bikini to a one piece… T_T It is not as if the original bikini was lewd.

Issei x Shirou should be the canon route in all the Fate series. 😛

BTW, you should add the Hisui hypnosis at the end. 😛

I was laughing so much during this episode. The adaptation was quite faithful from the original material.

Also had a chance to watch the OVA. It is… leeeewd. So much naked LOLi. And Shirou is a pervert.

    • skylion says:

I fear the Issei x Shirou route would please Suzuka and only Suzuka. But that’s a predatory harem for you…

BTW: what is the Hisui hypnosis, I can see it’s a Nasu character….

They’ve done great so far with the original material…

The OVA is just a bit much!

because if you realise, the kaleidosticks are none other than them.

        • skylion says:

          Well, that makes it “clearer”.

I’m sorry, I kid around. From this point on, I should explain I’m not a big fan of the other parts of the Nasuverse. I gave em a shot, and they weren’t for me. In all honesty, most of the mythos he conceived is, generally speaking, convoluted. Don’t get me wrong, it’s some interesting stuff, but not to my preference.

So a few references here and there for those fans, I think, is a fine thing. And I welcome comments on them here; playing along with them will be catch as catch can.

Hiroyama is a good storyteller, and is obviously a fan of the larger material. I like his take, and by extension Sliver Link’s, on the stuff. I’m looking forward to how well the studio streamlines all the mythos when 3rei comes out.

          • Di Gi Kazune says:

Things are funnier when you know that in the original it was completely different.

            Especially when you get to

Doing Carnival Phantasm would suffice in upgrading your knowledge of Tsukihime instead of playing the game. Typemoon still has yet to make a Tsukihime anime. 🙁

I’ve seen most of Carnival, but I payed most attention to the characters I knew from Fate/Zero before watching ufotable’s UBW. The other’s were “just there”.

I’m pretty happy to say that ,as an outsider, most of the references Prisam Illya makes are fine…

Aside from that character, I am awaiting for:

…and trust a fujoshi to take things way to far. But then again, in BL, mortal enemies are natural ship material.

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

I have a feeling we might get into the first few chapters of 3rei.

              Suzuka is a fujoshi.

Mimi is a monster created by Suzuka. Even Suzuka admits that…

            • skylion says:

My honest feelings are that I don’t know where or how they will end Herz! They could end it like the 2wei manga ends, but I don’t think an anime only audience (or even the manga fans) will want to wait another year for resolution. So with that in mind, maybe something from 3rei, but I cannot think of any real break points in the early chapters that would satisfy that long wait. I guess we’ll see in two months, eh?

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

Wherever it ends, we want 3rei! With its epic awesomeness!
