Are you are going to miss WIXOSS?

Woooooooo! We are finally at the end of this crazy magical adventure filled with despair and sadness, but at least we got a somewhat good end to this series or were you not impressed with how things went down? I don’t really know if there is enough material for another season in the future; however anything is possible! Maybe a WIXOSS movie to show off a new city and cast of girls? Anyway yeah time for the review

I could see this ending coming since episodeWTF (7 or 8)…

However, it does bring closure to the series and ties things up nicely using the Good End Route (Instead of the Akemi Homura route). I would say it was a decent show but the early pacing was a bit too slow for my liking. I did feel it wasn’t explained WHY Mayu was confined to a room (please do not use the HIV excuse. That is no excuse) except that she went bonkers as a result of her isolation.

Sometimes a story can make good on the unexplained. An enduring sense of mystery can tell it’s own story. This, however, wasn’t one of these cases.

    • BlackBriar says:

Since there was no clear explanation to Mayu’s isolation, I would say she unfortunately was just a child born to wealthy but neglectful parents. Given the way her room was presented, it’s more than likely she is of a privileged family.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

Should have sold/put her for adoption to a LOLicon. That would have been better and at least she would have wuv.

      • Highway says:

I don’t even think ‘neglectful’ is the word to describe it. For whatever reason, the people that we heard talking about her were actively hostile to her. Whether they weren’t her parents, or whether she was just completely unwanted, we don’t really get more information. But to me, ‘neglectful’ doesn’t explain never talking to her or calling her by name, instead referring to her as ‘that’.

A predictable yet strangely satisfying conclusion. I can say this passes because WIXOSS as a whole was a sweetly dark and psychological abyss with despair at every turn for our female characters and dire encounters and consequences. Before everything got resolved, if someone ever asked me to play a game like that rife with such unfair rules and circumstances, unless something drastic happens, I wouldn’t dare take part.

Yepp! That is how id describe the series xD

      • BlackBriar says:

Indeed. Short, sweet and to the point is the way to go.

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

And I happened to run into a picture on sankaku where Mayu is in the same league as:

          Kyubey
          Seihai-kun

          • BlackBriar says:

I don’t think seen the animes with those character names.

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

The so-called Cult of Madoka will apparently hunt down heretics who haven’t seen that show.

Fortunately, I have protection from the Church. Seihai-kun is the Cup that keeps me alive.

Then I guess I’m a heretic. Should I expect torches and pitch forks?

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

Of all the people here (with exception here), I would have thought you would have watched The Adventures of Kyubey and his Roris…

            • BlackBriar says:

It must have been around the time I started watching anime online seriously and commenting on Metanorn. My likes in anime back then weren’t as expanded as they are these days.

I always had the feeling that WIXOSS would have an ending like this, where everything worked out. It just always felt like it would, and that’s kind of Mari Okada’s style. So no matter how grim things got in the middle of the show, it never felt like it was all just going to fall apart. I just felt like Ulith wouldn’t win, and that Ruuko wouldn’t lose (this is in contrast to Chaika, which always felt like doom was coming around the corner).

I kinda would have liked to see more of how the girls were living at the end, since all of a sudden there are more girls around? What? They didn’t make a point of “girls disappearing” throughout the show, so I kind of wonder how they reintegrate all these consciousnesses. Although, because it was more of a chain, there was less of that. But why would Hanayo still look like Yuzuki? The mechanics of that whole finish kind of throw me off.

      Because we started losing track of who was really whom sometime ago? 😛 I would like a character tracking chart… ^^;

      hahaha yeahhhhhhh truth

That whole Mayu created this game, as well as the two original girls, made me think about the Grudge: If you die in moments of great sorrow or hate, a curse happens, being this curse the game itself and it’s rules, that she had created to cope with her loneliness…
The ending was strangely satisfying, although it would be nice to know more about it. I would like to see Tama and Ru’s reunion, but that’s just a small detail.

Looks like s2 had a satisfying ending. I couldn’t pick up s2 because s1 had too much suffering for me that I was brought to my knees by the final episode. =/

Good to see Tama-chan and Yuzuki make it out ok ^^
