Damn, there’s no shortage of sadistic, heartless females. I first thought Iona was twisted but Ulith showed her up big time exposing her true nature. She’s downright vicious and demented, more specifically; the girl has the mentality of a hedonistic demon. A true sociopath! The whole scene in the classroom had me tense because every time Ulith got close to Hitoe, I was thinking she was going to do something to her. Not to mention she appears to be the type who takes her time. Hitoe’s freedom is the prize if Ruko wins. But should she lose, she becomes Ulith’s new toy? That freak enjoys knowing that people are under her thumb.

Just when you think Akira couldn’t be any more broken, Ulith brings her down to a new low. Yeah, she kneed her instead of punching. Breaking and throwing aside while she writhes in psychological agony. If she doesn’t snap now, I will be disappointed. I like that it was explained how Akira got her scar. For the longest time, I was under the impression it happened magically per her penalty for previously losing three times as a Selector. This made the occurrence feel more realistic. Not by magic, fate simply arranged for you to be royally screwed over for not being to go the distance. Seeing that the scar is of multiple cuts, she was forced into a corner and carved up. That’s beyond harsh.

That reveal was unexpected. Came out of nowhere that I had replay that part to make sure my eyesight wasn’t bad that I might’ve been reading something wrong. Mayu is Tama and Iona’s mother yet she looks so young. Now the question is, how the hell are such things possible? After all, Iona struck me as a natural born human whereas to me, Tama was always a LRIG. Then again, you have to remember Tama has amnesia so anything can pretty much go from here. Exposing a secret or not, that’s a brutal way of “punishing” your “child”.

The brightness of the episode is a trivial matter but my one complaint with Funimation rips is how bad their subbing system is. At times, you’d see walls of text that would take up almost half the screen. Also, no effort in making distinctions. When two or more people are talking at the same time, there’s no color indication and everything’s stacked up. And it’s happening to shows this season like Psycho-Pass 2, Selector Spread WIXOSS, Donten ni Warau, Ore Twintail ni Narimasu, Shingeki no Bahamut etc…

Funimation / Hulu’s subs are terrible when there’s more than one conversation happening. Their font is fine when they can control the amount of text on the screen, but they limit the width too much, and end up with, like you said, a wall of undifferentiated text. What’s worse is that they don’t even put one conversation on top and the other on the bottom consistently, so it’ll switch from top to bottom back to top.

Crunchyroll’s subs are much better, even if their font is a little less appealing (on the web). They time much better, and they use both the top and bottom of the screen, and almost always put the background conversation in italics.

I will say that since I got sick a couple weeks ago and spent some time in bed, the quality of playback on the Roku app for Crunchyroll is very good. For whatever reason, it has much less choppiness, and looks a bit better. It also has a better font than the web player.

Well, Fosh and I had a back and forth on literal interpretation and metaphorical for mother and daughter. It’s interesting on either side, really.

Oh, be careful of the bespoke monster….Ulith should have been reading some Shelly instead of playing as a Selector..

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

Mayu: Obiwan never told you what happened to your mother.
Iona: He told me enough! He told me YOU killed her!
Mayu: No… I am your Mother!
        Iona: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Or is this conversation more applicable to Tama?

      • BlackBriar says:

Oh, be careful of the bespoke monster

Oh, how true that turns out to be in the next episode.

Someone is Responsible for this…Selector/LRIG System!
But then again, I Can’t tell for that yet…
