Aldnoah.Zero – 06

Aldnoah Zero 06 - Slaine

Don’t you worry princess, Slaine’s coming to get ya!

Although she might wanna ask him about that whole why is the sky blue thing. Anyways, Jrow & Kyokai talk about Slaine’s escape, Marito dealing with what seems like PTSD, and Femianne interrupting an uncomfortable moment between Marito & Darzana with her many fists.

I think that the most interesting part of this episode was seeing the obvious conflict in Ryat (is that how we spell her name)? We know that she was thrown away by the martians, but she doesn’t seem to feel comfortable amongst the earthlings. When that army lady was saying that she should fight for the sake of the earth, she made that face “do I really want to do this?” I want to know more about her than any other character, because I don’t know where she stands.

    • Jrow says:

Yeah, I’ve felt that way about Rayet as well. She seems kind of stuck at the moment, unsure of what to do with herself.

In reply to the princess caption:
“Sorry Slaine, but the princess is in another base!”
    cue music.

What?! Did I hear a bad word directed at Eddel? Is this Defender gonna become and Avenger. Hey, the LOLi Avenger has a nice ring to it. I don’t think the Hulk would cheap shot me….

I don’t mind monster/mech of the week, as long as they can make it vibrant. This kinda wasn’t. It looked like it was just trying to hard to be cool. Flying fists were kinda meh.

    • Jrow says:

      You did.

Well, the action was only for 5 minutes and was a surprise attack. Let’s let the whole battle play out, at the least.

Great job you two! Seemed like you covered all the bases and I can’t wait to see what Slain does next week and will he join the earth team and help them because of the princess or will he just take her back to mars and show her grandfather that she is indeed alive? I can honestly see both of those story ideas working.

DAT pouty face from the princess <3 <3 <3

    • skylion says:

Yes. They’ve written Slain with some ambition, but they’ve also given us ambiguity. He’s on her side. Or he’s on her ideal side…if that matches up to what she wants remains to be seen.

    • Jrow says:

He likely wants to take her back to prove she’s alive, but I think at this point consider what we know, Slaine wouldn’t get the desired outcome from such a task.

I should do a poll next week asking which look they like most for the princess. 🙂

So it’s the Pirate King and Boss Lady leading this week’s party. More power to you!! I agree with Jrow on the episode title. It’s out there and doesn’t seem to have any relevance with the occurring events.

Slaine was being a bit like Valvrave’s L-Elf in his evasion skills. You’re telling me a single kid is at least three steps ahead of a fortress full of soldiers and got away with minimal effort… Anime logic at its finest, I guess. His dedication to Asseylum is amazing. The kid sure is grateful to her taking him in when they first met. Waiting to see how he and Inaho will interact.

Man, things are really sucking for the humans. They can’t catch a break and they’re getting their asses kicked at every turn. Previous enemies like Trillram and the one after him were already a handful but a mech with more two arms is pure overkill. Plus, it’s piloted by a high horse knight that seriously needs to be taken down a notch. These Martians are such arrogant bastards.

The VERS Emperor’s war declaration has put his granddaughter’s ambition further out of reach. The flaw I’ve noticed with him is he’s far too trusting of his people’s word. I mean, hasn’t rumors spread about his knights wanting to invade Earth simply because they wanted to? Plus, the princess’ “assassination” was too opportune to let it slide.

    • Highway says:

The flaw with Reygalia is that he’s a megalomaniacal asshole who declared himself a god. He’s hardly different from his knights in that he wants to subjugate Earth.

      • Kyokai says:

Also, his common sense is shit. Poor bastard.

        • BlackBriar says:

I wouldn’t use the term “poor” given that he’s declared war on an entire planet on his perceived notion of justification.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

Tactical analysis of his method of subjugation reveals that he is infinitely doomed to failure. If you want to subjugate by force (not Force(tm)), kindly use the maximum amount available to strike fear into the hearts of your subjugatees (is that even a word?). Do not ever half-heartedly use force. Do not take middle ground.

If you want to subjugate using minimal force via non-lethal methods, please do not go randomly killing moogles. It leads to Middle Ground Syndrome(tm) which is always doomed to failure.

Clearly, Sir ReyGAYlia’s aims are not clearly defined nor is he even properly aiming. If I were in his shoes, if my aim was to obtain Terra for either 1) resources or 2) some secret weapon buried underground, I’d do Yo’gand’s Core – ie, orbital kinetic bombardment with a planetoid. Then go get whether when everyone is dead.

If it was for manpower, minimal force and populace endearment would be the way to go. However, either option would make for a very short and boring series. 😛

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

-_- Obviously spammy haet longwinded posts. That’s 2 within the last hour.

        • BlackBriar says:

Maybe he’s secretly helping you raise your comment count. 100 more to go.

    • Jrow says:

I wish they would’ve shown a bit more of Slaine actually escaping rather than Saazbaum and Cruhteo talking.

Femianne does seem pretty snooty, but at the same time, I kinda dig her. Martian Knights are 0-2 against humans, and they haven’t left alive, so Femianne is up against some serious plot here.

      • BlackBriar says:

I see you have a thing for the ojou-sama type girls. 😉 However, this one still has a bad attitude.
