  1. Oori says:

I think I’ll enjoy the wards here so much more than the real awards coming up later.

A few of the awards got me laughing for real. Here’s a obligatory text of me laughing. LOL!

  2. skylion says:

That is a great collection of Railgun Theories.

Worst opening theme: Shinobu Time opening sung by Maaya Sakamoto for Monogatari Series Second Season She shares this with Christoper Eccelston and his Worst Doctor to appear in the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who special. I call it the Diva Award.

  3. skylion says:

I always kept my eyes on Ao.

It was a four story building, and she hit three cars. But yeah, that was a nasty cold.

  4. anaaga says:

With bunch of guys swimming together, “admiring” Haru’s swimming style, wanting to “become” Haru or guys who are worth it to “swim” with Haru, that’s definitely an orgy right there.

I’m surprised, since Fosh turned out to be the most uke out of you guys. Even Min turned into seme for his guy choice, considering how uke his voice is.

  5. Di Gi Kazune says:

Kurumi should just go 目からビーム. That would be enough…-nyo.

Just what happened to Galileo Donna. It was quite hyped up preseason and now it seems to have drifted off the radar.

You all also left out the Trappu award…

The Blazblue production team knew they were going to be sucky and all the episode previews were 4th wall nonsensical.

Henneko is actually cute yet serious. And it manages to mix the seriousness with the silly. Like how Yokodera suggest to loli-Tsukushi to play strippy-strippy~ and Tsukiko threatening to report him to the police – 10 years later. Plus it also has *cute* bedsheets as BD extras. Definately cute and not ecchi is any sense. >_>

  6. amado says:

I think I ended up stopping at ep 8 somewhere in vividread operation and forgot to follow/lost interest. were there more variations in the docking part, by that I mean did the other girls fuse with each other instead of the MC?
if not then im not missing out on anything.

    • lvlln says:

If you saw thru ep 8, you saw all but one of the Docking combos. Unfortunately, the one you missed wasn’t much of a variation, involving Akane as one of the 2 like all the others.

      • amado says:

with the “mysterious transfer girl”, right?
        yep, didnt really miss anything.

  7. BlackBriar says:

I’m with Fosh on a number of his awards: giving Kurumi an award for her profound yandere vibes. She’s creepy yet hot at the same time and we’ll be seeing more of that next season since “Date A Live II” is slated for Spring 2014. Can’t wait!!

Anyone who can cross-dress and look that convincing is absolutely scary because you’d take them for the real thing and Rui does so well. I’d say he’d have competition with Phi Brain’s Ana but season 3 is still ongoing so Rui wins by default.

Multiple season appearances for Kana Hanazawa is right. She’s all over the place and at a young age, too. I don’t know if most remember this but for the prior “Year Ender” posts, she singlehandedly dominated 2011 for the favorite female seiyuu category. Her work ethic is nothing to sniff at. The girl is a voice acting machine.

Side note: Actually, a lot of animes we’ve seen in 2013 are getting immediate sequels.

    • Foshizzel says:

I can’t wait for freaking Date-a-live s2! I saw the OVA and was like damn I really miss these characters.

      • BlackBriar says:

What has me really excited for the second season is that the preview (with translating help from the ANN post) said the entire first season was just a prologue which means there’s a lot more to come.

        • Foshizzel says:

          Ohhh? That sounds great 😀

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

I want Kurumi to cosplay! Like in Date-A-Akihabara…Show ▼

          にょ。

          • BlackBriar says:

I find that would be conflicting with how seductive Kurumi looks.

    • T.K. says:

Kana Hanazawa has been getting role after role since 2010, and still no sign of her losing steam. I’m expecting more good stuff from her this year, and of course, more Noto Mamiko.

  8. Kyokai says:

Loved the podcast and everything that everyone came up with. I liked the scandalous ones more of course. xD

Btw, by uprising seiyuu, I meant these people hit fame in 2013 with major roles as in:
Nobunaga Shimazaki – Date A Live (Shidou), Free! (Haru), Photokano (Kazuya), with upcoming roles in Pupa, Nobunagun, Nobunaga the Fool and Buddy Complex.
Ryota Ohsaka – Blood Lad (Staz), Gatchaman Crowds (Sugane), Hataraku Maou-sama! (Maou), Valvrave (Haruto), Oregairu (Eita), Rozen Maiden (Jun), with upcoming roles in Hamatora, Nagi to Asukara and Strike the Blood.
Emiri Kato – Monogatari (Mayoi), Madoka Magica (Kyuubey), with roles in Hamatora, D-frag! and Wake up, girls!
Mikako Komatsu – Gundam Build Fighters (Sei), Henneko (Youto), SNAFU (Totsuka), with upcoming roles in Noragami, Nisekoi and Nagi no Asukara.

Also good catch of tsundere tsundere of Quartet, really, people need to see this series more. As well, am I the only one who finished Aku no Hana. Yes, it was horribly painful but I did it somehow.

    • Highway says:

Yozakura Quartet really has some great incidental music, like the Town Song and especially the eyecatch bumpers. Hopefully it won’t make the show feel too dated for those who rewatch it in a few years, but it’s probably good because the music has a more classic feel to it, unlike something like the Love Hina OP song (Sakura Saku) which uses record scratches because they were cool at the time (and now just sounds “Wow, oooold”).

      • Kyokai says:

I loved the usage of eyecatch bumper and definitely applaud Jrow’s usage of it. I’m sure the Quartet music would stay fresh at least for a decade. And isn’t the fun of watching old shows is us saying, ‘Oh man this happened or so oldschool?’ 😉

  9. Di Gi Kazune says:

Oh yeah, biggest disappointment here: Nyaruko W. Did not live up to the first season and recycled stuff too much.

    • BlackBriar says:

That hurt a lot to see it tank so severely and the first season did so well. What wasted potential.

      • skylion says:

Oh, yes. I feel that pain. They did good with Cthuko x Mahiro, but it ended up to naught….

    • Highway says:

The problem was that there just wasn’t much material left for them to use. That was really obvious just a couple of episodes in. But in reality, the last few episodes of the first season were losing steam the same way. It really was a show that probably shouldn’t have had a second season.

      • BlackBriar says:

It was a gamble because the end of the first season made it clear that another was the way.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

In a sense you’re right. The Nyaruani 5-minute episodes were actually better than the full 24 minute shows. Quick and sharp witted humour. There is only so much fork’ing around (haha – bad pun) until it becomes mundane.

Speaking of material, and many will disagree with Shana Final was the best of the 3 seasons. Why? It is how the first two seasons should have been done; instead they concentrated on school melodrama instead of fleshing out the world. We don’t really get to see the Flame Hazes, Guze no Ou and the backstory until S3 when appear left, right, centre, up, down, left, right, etc2.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah they ran out of crazy anime references to use and the “romance” was just bad.

  10. zztop says:

    Re Galilei Donna:

The Galileo Donna director has revealed in a radio interview that executive meddling may have been partly responsible for the show’s downfall.

The anime was originally designed to span 20+ episodes, and the story had already been planned to that extent.

However, the Aniplex producers suddenly asked the show’s run to be reduced to 11 episodes, and thus the creative team were forced to cut down the entire story to fit the new length.

    • Highway says:

Probably cause they saw how it was going to be and said “Man, we can’t show this for two cours”. And I’m one of the people who enjoyed Galilei Donna. You just can’t deny that a lot of the story is just dumb.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

Translation: They decided to euthanise it but did not do a good job of it.

That is why Mondaiji and Prisma Illya were good: They knew when to stop without dragging it out. If you have material to do 10 eps, do 10, no need to drag it out (although I would say Prisma Illya DID drag episodes out – see my series review). Mondaiji just chose a good point in the series to end and leave it open to further seasons (which sadly I understand is unlikely because the disc sales were poor).

  11. Di Gi Kazune says:

*Kicks spamcatcher yet again. There must be a word it does not like.

One other thing. Watched Suisei no Gargantia after reading the commentaries. While it was decent, the issue I had was the pacing. It had a decent storyline/plot but much of it was concentrated on the last few episodes, in a sense just like Gene’i Taiyou. Surprisingly, not enough people died for an UroButcher show. 😛

    • BlackBriar says:

Surprisingly, not enough people died for an UroButcher show.

Maybe he was taking a breather to gear up for the continuing story because Suisei no Gargantia has another season in the works along with another season of Psycho-Pass that has yet to be announced with a release date.

    • anaaga says:

With all the “squid-like” creatures being killed and trampled during the main character’s search in the ocean, blood and “squid” pieces all over the place, I’d say there were more than enough death already.

      • Sumairii says:

Don’t forget those poor, vaporized pirates. Never forget. o7

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

All don’t count as they are not MC or support! Or are you implying that Madoka, Sayaka, Mami, Iskandar, Diarmurd, Gilles are faceless grunts? (Lancelot was faceless for a while and assassins are just… sadly Hougu fodder. T_T)

        • Di Gi Kazune says:

/me thinks the spamcatcher needs to be retrained.
