Gingitsune – 02

Gintaro and Makoto love to chill together at the shrine.

Welcome back Meta-listeners to another great episode of Gingitsune and this time we meet another new character named Hiwako! I hope she becomes a better character after this episode because she was a bit bossy; however it was great seeing how each character’s personalities clashed with each other.

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

It was maybe a little forced getting the three girls together as friends, since Yumi and Hiwako were pretty anti-each-other, but it’ll probably work out well enough for the show.

I don’t think that Makoto was afraid of other people finding out about her fortune-telling, I think it was that Hiwako was telling her that it was becoming a disruption and a problem at the school.

And of course we got the “You think I don’t have any problems, but you don’t know my life” kind of story with Hiwako. Cold mother, politician father who isn’t home, she definitely could use a few grounded friends who let her be more herself. There’s definitely going to be friction there with her mother, tho, probably of the “you can’t hang out with them, they’re beneath you, do as I tell you!” sort.

Trueeee I did feel that way watching, but I just credit that with the limited amount of episodes? I mean if it took x4 episodes each to cover Hiwako and Yumi’s “arcs” it wouldn’t leave a whole lot of room for progress for Makoto’s own story.

Right her fortune telling is a distraction to everyone at the school basically right?

Yeppp Hiwako’s home life is far from perfect =/

I’m finding Yumi a lot more interesting than Hiwako- the latter’s character arc feels like it’s been done too many times before. The first episode was just a bit more on the pleasantly surprising side when it turned out Yumi wasn’t a complete jerk, and the both of them + Gintaro are doing a good job of balancing out Makoto’s cheeriness.

the real question is how much longer are they gonna make me wait for The Boy to show up :<

    • Foshizzel says:

Same Yumi is far more interesting to watch than Hiwako and YES that character type has been done over and over and over again, but Makoto with Yumi and Gintaro is great mix!

I knowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! I guess soon? Probably episode four or something because I think the next episode follows the demons/gods…

I sense… a great disturbance in the Ero. Winter Comiket this year will invoke Rule#34 for this show.

It always turns out that the ones who act bitchy and high and mighty because of their family’s social status are those with the really distressing problems. Still, Hiwako was being condescending and even if her true self came out, there wouldn’t be much sympathy for her because people would still hold a grudge for past events.

Gintaro is mercilessly brutal when he speaks his mind. Most people wouldn’t listen to that without reacting in a negative fashion. However, he’s right that burying how you really feel for the sake of appearances is hypocrital but it can’t be helped if it’s to avoid doing something that will stick to you for the rest of your life.

It’s a very cute show, but the story for this ep was kind of meh. (I just imagined the writer going “And then… uh… they’re friends! Yes, they’re friends now.”)
Will probably stick around for the atmosphere and Gintaro though.

    • Foshizzel says:

The power of anime friendship! It happens so fast and yeah overall not the best episode ever because it was dragging on and after all EVERYONE knows these three girls will become friends in the end.

Next week should be about the life of Gintaro and the other gods and hopefully we see the guy from the OP finally? I certainly can’t wait to see him.
