Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou – 11

Cerebrum is ready to troll you once again!

It’s time for your favorite suffering anime Genei! With only two episodes remaining will Akari finally save her friends and the world with the power of yuri friendship? I guess you have to watch and find out for yourself right Kara?

————————————————-

 We could totally turn Genei into a drinking game. Every time someone suffers or something extremely unfortunate happens, you take a drink. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.

Welcome to the family Akari

Akari-“I swear to god, if someone says join the darkside I will kill them.”

The mystery surrounding Akari’s strange ability to hear the Daemonia has continued to cause me to scratch my head; however Etia finally reveals another big secret about Akari’s mother and father who was a scientist and apparently he got infected by the Daemonia virus! So what does that mean? It simply means that Akari has both human and Daemonia DNA inside her. I cannot believe I never thought about that as a possibility as to WHY she could hear the voices of the creatures, but this really is not NEW to me because this has been done in the popular shounen shows like Bleach because if you are following that series you would know Ichigo shares DNA with hollows, humans and Shinigami making him quite overpowered in fights. I just want to know what Akari can actually do with her other side because Ichigo always had issues with his hollow side taking over his body and killing everyone, but I don’t really see Akari turning full evil mode right now unless Cerebrum does something drastic like killing Luna and Siera in front of her causing Akari to snap in order to unlock her dark side? Now that would work for me! Speaking of Cerebrum for a moment let me just even though I hate his guts he really is a fantastic villain to hate, but damn he really loves to toy with people! Like his offer to return Seira’s powers if she simply kills Luna and don’t even get me started on Laplace because seriously screw that talking crow.

Dark and Light

This is going to be an amazing battle!

Well, what do you know, Laplace, Schrodinger and Cerebrum DO all work for the same mysterious voice! It kind of makes you wonder what the end goal of this is. Though my guess is that it’s probably all for that ultimate Tarot thing they’ve been talking about in the plot. In other shocking developments, Akari does have something to do with Daemonia. …I kind of wish they had gone into that backstory more (since knowing this anime, it was probably Hinata who had to kill her lover when it came down to it), but I guess this is a good explanation to why she can hear voices in her head. It’s also really interesting that everyone is saying that she has a choice of sides now. …Not that we know what the Daemonia side really wants, but the choice is there. It’s funny how Cerebrum kept asking Akari if she really did want to join their side though. She does have a choice of course, but the way he’s putting it, it’s like he’s pretending that he’s not holding her friends and their livelihood at his mercy. What a guy. On the other hand, Etia and Ariel seem to be letting her go rather easily. …Though it’s not like they can really stop her if she does chose to join Cerebrum.

Extra magical fun

Cat versus werewolf?

End thoughts

I freaking knew that Laplace was working for the enemy the whole damn time! So yeah again screw that talking crow, but at least the talking cat decided to stay and actually help the others. While that was interesting it still does not beat the whole reveal of Akari being half human and half Daemonia! I just want to see what kinds that gives her or will she not even attempt to use them? I guess as a last resort she might use them, but what about Luna versus Seira? Who is going to win that fight? Is it wrong of me to want Luna to win so Akari can fight her instead? Then again I have a feeling Akari will pull some saving the universe thing at the last possible moment.

I guess we’re finally at the point where they’re providing answers! It’s about time. With this reveal, it should be interesting to see where the story goes. …Plus I’m interested in Cerebrum’s character. Fosh seems to dislike him with a burning passion, but I like him for the fact that he seems to have no purpose other than to screw the other characters over as much as possible. It’s certainly made the anime more interesting. Now let’s see if Seira can maybe talk Luna back to sanity, and if Akari’s mixed blood can somehow save the others. She certainly seems to be enough of a special snowflake in order to become a Madoka version 2.0 or something.

    Shota Palpatine has done it again!
    Better comment for the very last picture:
    S-P: “I am your Father! Search your feelings! You know it to be true!”
    Akari: “NOOOOOOOOOOOO….”

    I call dibs that Shota Palpatine is really her father or at least related. Then again, I have kinda been calling that out in the past commentary. 😛

    The show would have been much better if they had at least revealed more story in the previous episodes. Now they are attempting to do the standard Star Trek last minute plot resolution. They have built up the characters’ backgrounds decently, but not tying the plot of what and why the characters fighting for properly. Suspect that the Elemental Tarot users of Sefiro Fiore are just the Cleanup Police for the Leguzario when their lab experiments go horribly wrong. Something like the Church in the Seihai Sensou… (Hears Kotomine crying about the budget and expenses for the damages…)

    It’s no surprise that the familiars were working with/for the same employers. Laplace’s attitude of “This is classified information!” was a dead giveaway. You cannot hope to win a war without information – knowing is half the battle won and in this case, not knowing is half the battle lost.

    Okay, Star Wars analogies here:
    Cerebrum = Shota Palpatine
    Akari = Anakin/Luke Skywalker
    All the Sefiro Fiore = Jedi Order
    Luna = moon = That’s no moon!

    Lastly but not least: I like Schrodinger – everyone in the show is literally Schrodinger’s Cat!

      Yeah ever since those familiars started talking I KNEW one of them had to be working for the enemy team and yeah I thought it was dumb naming the cat Schrodingers LOL

  2. zztop says:

    How many eps is this show meant to have again? 12 or 13? Because I’m not sure the writers can resolve everything in just 1 episode next week.

    • BlackBriar says:

      Genei has a total of 13 episodes so there should be ample room to resolve everything. There will even be an unaired 14th episode later on if there are still some unanswered questions.

      • Karakuri says:

        Really? 14 episodes? That seems like a weird number… and I don’t know what 14 would be about. I guess we just have to see where 13 ends before coming up with possibilities.

        • BlackBriar says:

          It’s not that weird when you consider the number of episodes other series have.

          Black Rock Shooter: (8);
          Blood Lad, Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?, Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya: (10)
          Bakemonogatari: (15);
          Nisemonogatari, Silver Spoon: (11);
          Mirai Nikki/The Future Diary, Mouretsu Pirates, Mushibugyou: (26);
          Hyouka, Little Busters!, Robotics;Notes, Guilty Crown, Psycho-Pass: (22)

          The standard number for animes are usually 12/13 or 24/25 episodes.

          • Foshizzel says:

            Forgot Kore wa zombie s2 with only 10 damn episodes! That makes me sad to see such fun series with a low amount of episodes just like illya and Mondaiji those two can easily be 24+

            • BlackBriar says:

              Well, don’t worry about Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya. That series has already been announced with a second season right after the last episode aired. So it’s all good.

            • skylion says:

              I think Illya is going to get a full 24 episode shebang next time around. There is a ton of 2rie and 3wei material there. I hope at some point we get a Berserker Midriff baring Miyu…

            • Foshizzel says:

              Yeah hopefully s2 of illya has more than 10 episodes…

            • Highway says:

              Kore wa Zombie 2 was a transparent money grab to milk a successful season 1. They had no content, and no plot to use.

            • skylion says:

              That is incredibly harsh. But very fair.

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

              When you say “milk” and kore wa zombie 2, do you actually mean… oppai? 😛

      • Highway says:

        I think it’s pretty optimistic to think that a 14th episode OVA is going to substantially add to the story. This is almost never the case. It’s usually a one-off episode, either fanservicey or standalone side story.

        I’ll reiterate my support for more variation in numbers of episodes. Take the number it takes to make it a good story. If that’s 15 or 20, then that’s fine. Why does every show need to start the same week?

        • BlackBriar says:

          Most of the shows are set on the same week because of the number of episodes it holds and they’ll want them to be over by time the next season comes along with its set of animes. It’s all by schedule and going according to the calendar. 12/13 episode series will take 3 months while those with 24/25 will take 6 months. Mushibugyou has 26 episodes but it started early in Spring so that would be over just in time for Fall.

        • Foshizzel says:

          Gargantia had a 14th OVA “episode” which was a one shot “ghost/test of courage” themed episode…

  3. skylion says:

    Never trust an anime crow…

    • BlackBriar says:

      I say we burn the wretch. He’s been a pain in the ass as much as Cerebrum.

    • Foshizzel says:

      AGREED or talking animals in general? Who remembers the talking dog of Blood C and that obvious Crow from Vividred Operation muhahahahah~

      • d-LaN says:

        Well, the talking dog in B-C is actually helpful and not really evil so….

        But yeah, screw QB.

  4. Highway says:

    Something that’s amused me lately with this and with DxD, and comes up fairly frequently, is the non-specificity about how a love child comes to be. “Your mother saw this guy, and eventually we ended up with you.” “Baraquiel was injured and went to the Himejima shrine and met their daughter, and that led to Akeno’s birth.” Well, yeah, but talk about a sterile story. Fill that out some more, even a couple sentences. Was it a farmer’s daughter thing? A whirlwind romance? A night of drunken regret? Immaculate conception? A committed marriage that was ended all too soon by tragedy? I’d just love to see just a little more back story.

    The showdown between Luna and Seira is interesting, both because of the type of fight and because of the reasoning. I didn’t expect Cerebrum to come out and say “She wants Akari, and she thought you were in the way” but I liked that. And Seira’s growth is appealing, in that she wouldn’t have hesitated to kill Luna before, but now, even though Cerebrum says there’s no hope for her to change back, Seira couldn’t just plunge in the dagger.

    • BlackBriar says:

      Like Fosh said, it’s a popular trend in shounen anime to have half demon characters. In Ao no Exorcist, Rin Okumura and his brother Yukio were the love children that resulted from a relationship between Satan and their mother Yuri Egin who was sympathetic to demons. She was scared at first but then got the idea to show them off as an example that humans and demons can co-exist in peace.

      In Yu Yu Hakusho, the lead character Yusuke Urameshi is the direct descendant of the demon king Raizen whose demon power awakened in him despite generations of relatives that came before him making Yusuke officially half human and half demon. The whole thing started in the planet’s early centuries when a shrine maiden found Raizen wounded and near death, taking him in and nursing him despite knowing not to do so and that he might kill her. When he recovered, he tried to eat her but she told him that she drank something to make her blood poisonous to him if he did, telling him he had a choice to eat her or leave if he wants. He backed off then found a third choice: they made love that same night. Feeling that he didn’t deserve her because of her kindness, he left without a word the next day and months later, she died in childbirth. To honor her memory because he loved her, he then vowed to stop eating humans up until he died of starvation.

      • Highway says:

        That’s more of a backstory than we’re getting here. And see how it’s more interesting?

      • Foshizzel says:

        I was going to throw Naruto in there because of his whole childhood how theres a OP demon in him LOL

        • BlackBriar says:

          But the difference is Naruto has a demon locked inside his body after he was born. He’s not a being who half of his anatomy is that of a demon, meaning his DNA.

  5. BlackBriar says:

    Man, it’s just not Akari’s day. On top of having to deal with what’s in front of her, she finds out she’s half demon. That strange thing is she looks completely human so that probably she’s only been having a one sided development. If she knew beforehand and learned to master it, maybe she could’ve manipulated the Daemonia out of the bodies of those she was forced to kill, including her own cousin.

    Screw Cerebrum and that rotten backstabbing crow! I never liked Laplace to begin with so I can’t say the reveal surprises me. It’ll just make all the more satisfying when those two get the ass kicking they so deserve.

    Speaking of Cerebrum for a moment let me just even though I hate his guts he really is a fantastic villain to hate, but damn he really loves to toy with people!

    You’re not alone. I always feel like strangling the bastard. He is one in a heap of villains I plan to name when the Year Ender posts come around. Right now, I starting to feel overloaded with them. I figured he pull something like using an obscure method to tempt Seira to kill Luna. I wish she tried to stab him the moment he pulled that dagger out.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Gotta feel bad for Akari who just discovered that she is half demon…so not only has she been killing humans but she also kills Daemonia? That is so freaking screwed up >.< Agreed screw that damn crow, but like him or hate him Cerebrum keeps things entertaining xD

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

        This wins the UroButcher award of the year.

        Schrodinger’s Akari!
        Schrodinger’s Seira!
        Schrodinger’s Luna!

        • BlackBriar says:

          I’m just stunned Urobutcher doesn’t have a hand in this show or Shingeki no Kyojin because they’re both incredibly dark and depressing. It’s like it’s a crime or treason for either show to instill any sign of hope when things get bad.
