Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S – 17

Kuroko makes a new friend!

Goodbye sisters arc hello filler err I mean slice of life episodes with Misaka and her amazing friends and with that said I can’t wait to find out what Saten, Kuroko and Uiharu end up doing today since they finally get to appear!

Exciting side characters

Kuroko is having a great day.

Lately the main focus of Railgun S has been followed Misaka kicking butt while discovering her army of cloned sisters and defeating the ultra powerful Accelerator with the help of Touma’s fist of justice and I know most of us have mixed feelings on that arc, but sadly with the handful of remaining episodes I fully expect to see some filler in the future because I recently checked out some of the Railgun manga and I did not see anything from the newest OP in any of the chapters which included that new blonde loli character. I really have no idea who she is or what her role will actually be other than someone Misaka, Kuroko, Saten and Uiharu have to protect? I think this next arc will be the typical “evil scientists exploit a little kid because she has a rare ability” I mean by now we all know that Railgun is always about the science side of Academy City and that usually involves some kind of experimental storyline set up. For now we will have to wait for the main characters to actually meet that mysterious girl, but until then we can sit back and enjoy the daily lives of a certain electro-master. So what do you want to happen with these filler episodes? Personally I would love to see more progression between Touma and Misaka as a couple even though I think that would turn off a lot of people from Railgun if that ever happened, but whatever at least we have Saten and Kuroko to cause us to laugh and that will always be enough for me.

Extra fun with Railgun S

I hope it is something amazing!

End thoughts

Before I talk about a few fun moments from the episode I just want to quickly say…oh my god that opening!? Wow and yeah I know the song might not be as amazing as sisters noise, but damn the animation got me pumped for the second half of Railgun S! Like the shots of Misaka and her friends fighting off those random mecha suits and of course who could forget that adorable new girl? It certainly looks like Last Order will have some competition for cutest character in the Railgun universe but from what I gathered from the comment section of the new opening link that new girl is named Nayuta and she is from the Index light novel or the To aru Jihanki no Fanfare? I have not read it yet so it is all new to me! Besides that kick ass opening I loved watching that scene with Kuroko, Misaka Frenda and Meltdowner! That was so hilarious for me and I hope we get to see more of them soon. So what did you enjoy this time the slice of life moments with Misaka and friends, Frenda and Kuroko together or maybe something else?

Fun fact Sachika Misawa sings the new ED and stars as Arisa Meigo in the index movie.

There is going to be a Index movie preview next time, so I will probably skip that Railgun S review~

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! I wonder what soft shell turtle taste like? I’ve eaten soft shelled crab before.

Ah, this is what I love about Railgun. Take all the awesome action, the fights, the stunts, the insane amounts of Kuruko abuse, and at the end of it, everyone gets around for a hot pot. I love this blend of action and slice of life. I like that it grounds it in a bit of reality, that despite the powers, these are quite ordinary people that have to make a choice to do extraordinary things.

The scene at A Certain Family Restaurant….OMG I was on the floor, I was laughing so hard I could not breathe. And then, Frenda did the boob thing…..I’m still trying to recover, and remembering it now is not helping.

Who is this LOLi? I cannot wait to find out. The character design is pretty cool, and is everything Kazuma Kamachi likes to employ. I mean, Frenda is one, but she has a younger sister, and upcoming adaptations should feature both Birdway sisters (three more blonde lolis). He seems to be a fan of the same shows I like (Bund, Negima, Bake, and Mondaiji).

This was a great filler episode. After all the heavy drama of the sisters arc it was time for some comedy. And of course, for Kuroko, Saten and Uiharu to have significant screen time again.

Given the way Frenda grabbed Meltdowner’s boobs and was talking her up, maybe she and Kuroko share the same proclivities. Maybe we should launch the Kuroko x Frenda ship.

Boy, finally some of the other characters! I’m a little (but not really too much) disappointed that the ‘Queen’ character that they played up so much in the first episode seems to be entirely absent from the remainder of the series, not even making an appearance (that I could see) in the new OP.

And could they have been more heavy-handed about the foreshadowing with that patch of clover + the ED? Now I’m wondering what kind of toxic waste they’re dumping in the river.

…the failures of the Dark May Project? Run off from Body Crystal production? Left over ecto from the Imaginary Number District? It’s Academy City! It could be anything~

    • Sumairii says:

You will not be seeing Misaki until the next season, if there is one. She has a major role in the Daihasei Festival arc, which is very lengthy and still ongoing in the manga.

      • skylion says:

Holy Crap is it ever on going. But intense and interesting.

  5. AllenAndArth says:

kuroko is my favorite in the show…she too funny *0*
i wonder how turtle blood tastes like…maybe it’s good? .-.?
    and
by the way…Symphogear felt really painful this week, i feel that i suddenly like my hand very much…Ver is awesome *0*

    • Sumairii says:

Turtle blood probably tastes like human blood. You know, yucky and irony.

      • BlackBriar says:

I’m amazed people actually drink such a thing, whether it’s human or animal. Well, to each his own.

        • skylion says:

The thought of the need for such things never crossed my mind. Kuroko needs to work on her natural strengths….

    • BlackBriar says:

Yeah, this week’s Symphogear G was intense. Hibiki getting her arm bitten off came out of nowhere. Ver is a sadistic bastard getting rid of all witnesses, even if they’re nothing but children.

      • AllenAndArth says:

        ver is awesome…
yeah…i was watching the battle thinking:wow Hibiki is kicking that thing’s ass and…HOLY CRAP IN A BOTTLE! HE ATE HER HAND!

  6. BlackBriar says:

Railgun does a good job making filler episodes entertaining but from the brilliant new OP, this is another calm before the storm. Most of it was filler but the rest was canon considering we were given some insight on the lifespans of the clones. Hopefully the doctor will be able to fix that. Even if the experiment’s over, I don’t think Misaka can bear seeing her clones dying again.

What I want to see from the remaining episodes is what happened to Shinobu after her noble but failed attempt to save the clones leading up to the start of the Daihaseisai. After all, despite her transgression, she’s still too valuable to dispose of.

Frenda and Meltdowner are back. It’s miracle they didn’t go berserk when Misaka showed up but it looks like Kuroko has found a rival in perversion. Let the deathmatch begin!

  7. Ansatsu-shi says:

    … After this ep…
I can never see Mugino the same way ever again…

btw… are soft shelled turtles considered aphrodisiacs?

    • skylion says:

Maybe? Apsargus, hot dogs, bananas….it’s all down to foolish folk wisdom. Peaches, tacos, just to get on the other side of the gender…

    • Highway says:

Anything that’s rare-ish and somewhat hard to get has a tendency to be a folklore aphrodisiac, or a ‘performance enhancer’.

  8. Gecko says:

This episode was a lot of filler, but it was nice to have some calm before this new little girl gets introduced. It almost didn’t feel like filler, more just slice-of-life. And, of course, we’re back to the full gang, which is really great. We didn’t have enough Saten there for a while. And the really long titles! Goodness, they were so short for a while there I was wondering what happened.

I’m really happy about the new OP and ED as well. I just wish Shinobu hadn’t really disappeared and been completely forgotten about. -_-

    • sonicsenryaku says:

well fear not cuz shinobu appears in the opening so that’s a good sign; this season of railgun is truly covering all its bases. Man, seeing Mugino and Frenda so chummy is quite the sight.

      • Gecko says:

YES! More Shinobu! Thanks for reminding me of that! I didn’t study the OP too much, since I tend to notice things over a few watches of the OP.

    • AllenAndArth says:

i liked the last OP more, but this ED is great…better than the last one

      • Gecko says:

I think I like both ED’s about the same. Both of them appeal to me. The last OP just gave me slight headaches from the background noises. (I’m so weak when it comes to electronic stuff. I get headaches from listening to too much new stuff at once.)

      • BlackBriar says:

I like the new OP a bit more than “Sister’s Noise” and by comparison, it’s almost like the second OP for the first season of Railgun.

  9. D-LaN says:

I WANT THE PREVIEW OF THE INDEX MOVIE D:

Nice breather episode after all the stuff tht Misaka had went through in Sisters arc. This episode is full of WIN starting with the Kongou mice shopping, that scene and the 4 of them ended up NOT studying at all XD

Kinda bummed tht Liberal City arc is not animated, but I enjoyed the filler arcs of Railgun S1 so we will see. Also the new loli is called Febli apparently. She kinda looks like Nyaruko doesn’t she?
