Danganronpa – 06

Danganronpa600005

It’s everyone’s favourite ambiguously gendered AI!

Okay, so maybe they aren’t changing the OP every time (or are they? Syo showed up this time!). Though that still doesn’t explain what that parody OP was about. I guess they just really wanted to show the rhythm game.

Never mind what Asahina was doing in the bath house looking for doughnuts (or how she saw Fujisaki’s ‘ghost’ when the locker was closed when they found it later), she stumbled upon something pretty important. Fujisaki left behind Alter Ego! Screw the logic behind the fact that Chihiro only had a day or so to do this, he was a prodigy programmer (plus after the Oowada butter thing, logic certainly isn’t too important to this anime outside of trials). It’s also rather convenient that he managed to find a place where there aren’t any cameras, but not putting camera there is like Monokuma’s way of trying not to seem too perverted (not that he explained that in the anime). Anyways, Alter Ego seems like it could be pretty important, since there are a lot of mysteries pretty much everywhere as to why the students are there. Also, Togami brought up a good point about the possibility of there being a mole in the group. Especially since we just saw that there is one at the end of the last episode.

As for that picture that came up… It’s interesting that they’d include the group picture thing in at this part in the story line and in front of everyone. Before, it was just Naegi who saw these things. I wonder if this will change some events in the end or not to make things go faster…

Overall, the anime has made Yamada… less. The Yamada I remember had waaay more inappropriate things to say and was very open about his perverted tendencies (not that he isn’t now, but I mean even more so). So much so, that it kind of got on my nerves after a while, so maybe it’s a good thing that they toned his character down. They didn’t even mention the fact that he was so excited over Alter Ego because not only did ‘she’ listen to his er, interesting interests, but ‘she’ was also… 2D. Meanwhile, Ishimaru’s transformation into “Ishida” seems pretty weak since he appeared once, ran around for a bit, and then turned up dead. Though to be honest, he character did pretty much the same thing in the game as well. The whole changing into a new person thing seems kind of pointless now, but it is kind of important as to why he died, as was his devotion to AI Oowada.

The only other character I have much to say about is Fukawa/Syo. I thought she would be more of a background character, but I guess Syo is now the source of inappropriately timed humour. Hopefully this doesn’t become too overbearing, but I can easily see this becoming so. …But hey, at least all of her personality is coming out loud and clear, which is more than I can say for most of the rest of the characters. Togami seems like less of a self centred jerk than I remember him being. We don’t know much about Sakura either, but that’s more because she’s the strong, silent type. Even Monokuma seems less perverted and obtrusive than I remember him. Now he’s just there every so often to kill one of the students or to inform them of things. I’m kind of surprised that they took out those monologues he had at night; I thought they would have made good previews or something since they didn’t really reveal anything but set the tone to the story pretty well.  …As for Naegi, his blatant blandness is coming through nicely, I have to admit.

Danganronpa600018

It’s the most complicated murder yet since there are two people dead and moving bodies. …Or is it? Haragakure is the prime suspect it seems since he’s been conveniently missing this entire time. Plus Yamada definitely said “Yasuhiro” (which is undoubtedly Haragakure’s first name), and why would he lie about the murderer on his deathbed? He would have absolutely nothing to gain by lying at that point. …Though maybe people have caught on from some of the things he said earlier. In any case, double murders certainly make things interesting.

Funny how the anime has included pretty much every aspect of the game, and yet, it completely skipped over the biggest fanservice scene (other than pretty much every scene with Asahina in it), with the bath. Maybe they’ll squeeze it in elsewhere or come out with an OVA or something. …Because let’s be honest here, a fanservice bath scene OVA wouldn’t be much of a strech from what happens in pretty much every other OVA out there. I guess getting all of the information out was more important. There was a lot that happened this episode with the murder taking place real time and Alter Ego. Both couldn’t be avoided, so I’m okay with the fact that the characters didn’t have a big exposition time like they did in between Fujisaki’s and Maizono’s murders.

Danganronpa600006

Not even death will stop the almighty pompadour mullet. …Or whatever the hell this is.

      Go megane!!

    • d-LaN says:

We have 2 glasses character here @_@

      • BlackBriar says:

That would 2 out of a total of 3 characters wearing glasses in this show.

    • d-LaN says:

Oops I forgot abt Yamada. but since he got murdered so 2 still counts \(^_^)/

      • BlackBriar says:

Then there will be one and then there will be none. 😉

Then there will be one and then there will be none. 😉

          This reminds me of something.

I know that music. It’s for one of the Touhou characters, Flandre Scarlet. The name is “East New Sound”. Here’s the full version of the song. I love reading the lyrics and I never get bored of it.

            • Namika says:

Yeah, I know. I had Mikado tutor me some time ago about Touhou. 😀 I love this song to bits too

  2. PrimeHector says:

Togami only seems like less of a jerk because they rushed the second trial. His and Syo’s relationship still has some comic gold lines like
If I have to die, it should be after I kill Byakuya-sama!!
Just go die alone somewhere. You don’t need a reason. Just die.

    • Karakuri says:

You’re probably right on that… Also,

      “I screw!
      Byakuya-sama screws!
If we screw together, we can reach new heights!”

      • BlackBriar says:

Hahaha, that sounds perverted and messed up. Or maybe my mind’s just in the gutter. It could be either one of them.

    • Namika says:

Whoa 😀 Those quotes are too epic to go to waste!

Double murders, a possible traitor among the group and they’ve probably met before but can’t remember a thing. Things are getting interesting. Yamada got messed up. Waking up only to truly die afterward must suck big time. I’ll bet everyonewas drugged and abducted before being brought into the school seeing as they have memory problems.

Togami is pretty carefree considering there’s a murdering psychopath whose eyes are set only on him. A normal person would be looking over their shoulder with that perverted murdering stalker roaming about.

I find Togami’s theory about a traitor plausible. It sounds like something Monokuma would come up with. Right now and even though it might be wrong in the end, my money on the traitor would be Celestia. It’s too convenient that so many things are happening; she’s there most of the time and has next to no physical wounds at all. Even her tone of voice isn’t showing things in her favor, making her seem suspicious. Haragakure could also be an accomplice, one to take the heat off of whoever is helping him.

    • Karakuri says:

Ahaha not just a possible traitor! There IS someone who agreed to work with Monokuma, as we saw from the end of last week’s episode. You’ll get your answers near the end as to if they really were drugged and abducted.

In Togami’s case, he probably thinks he’s too good to be murdered. He certainly seems like he’s in danger, since Syo most definitely classifies him as ‘moe’. …Though on the other hand, Syo also said that she only wants to kill in her own way, which would be stupid to do considering that everyone would know that it was her.

    • Namika says:

Maybe they were drugged or zapped after coming to the school? We did see, how Naegi came to the academy, right? So either they got hit on the head after arrival, or Naegi is special in some kind of way.

No, I don’t thing Genocider would do that, because it would be so obvious that she killed Togami. But on the other hand… she’s kinda messed up so killing him might be worth dying to her… Who knows o-o

I’m betting on her too. She must be involved in this situation in some way, because she’s always been there, in the midst of… action, if you may, but she’s still alive.

      • BlackBriar says:

Whatever was used to bring them in, it was potent. Naegi passed out as soon as set foot on the school grounds alone. It’s most likely something converted into aerosol form. The others had similar experiences and woke up in their rooms with little to no memories.

I think even if Genocider kills Togami and she gets found out, she wouldn’t mind anyway because she’d feel like her life was already complete mutilating the guy she has a crush on. But she might go after Naegi first. During the trial to find Fujisaki’s killer, she called him “Ma-kun” which to me sounds like a sign of affection.

Even though Yamada said it was Haragakure, I’m still thinking Celestia has a hand in it. Not only was her attitude far too tamed and unmotivated for someone who was attacked, there was the scene in the gym that shed some light on her personality. While the others were appalled and hung on their morality, she, Yamada and Haragakure were the only ones who reacted in a positive although greedy looking manner when Monokuma put that huge stack of money in their faces. By her appearance, she looks like one who has an insatiable lust for money. Not to mention she’s a gambler. Staying alive and getting money is definitely a tempting offer.

By the way, though it’s late to say, congratulations on reaching 1200 comments. Now you’re a Meta Resident and Metanorn’s Hime-chan. A few more and you’ll even overtake Tofu on the top 15 list.

        • Namika says:

Oh gosh, I didn’t even notice that o-o

I’m a Meta resident O_O Weee~ 😀 Thanks a lot! ^_^ Little bit and I will be back into the top 3 of commentators. Mwahahaha 😀

    You look for clues.
And Genocider jumps from the curtain, lol.
Even though she’s a crazy Murderer, she makes me laugh so hard.
I doubt that anyone would be brave enough to touch Fukawa, I mean, trying to kill her might turn really badly for the culprit. Maybe that’s the reason…

    • BlackBriar says:

Funny. I’d say you’re able to laugh at Genocider’s antics because you’re safe and not in her range otherwise you’d be looking over your shoulder countless times. After knowing what she is, to disrupt Fukawa is nothing short of having a death wish especially if it’s someone she’s interested in.

      • JapanInspired says:

Nah, if you’re not a bishie, then you’re safe 😉

Well, guess you’re right, I have no idea how would I feel in such a place, with so much happening. But I kind of count Fukawa and Genocider as 2 different people. I don’t think I would be getting away as much as possible from Fukawa, only because she is Genocider. I, personally, kind of feel sad for Fukawa, if you think about it, a second personality doesn’t come out of nowhere. And that kind of shows that she had a painful past.
Also she kind of all the time was saying “are you looking at me because I’m so ugly?”

        • Karakuri says:

Hmmm, yeah, I’d count Syo and Fukawa as 2 different people Show ▼

          • JapanInspired says:

That’s not that rare, since a person has 2 very different personalities. It’s basically 2 people in one body. There might even be more than 2.
Different personalities, different thoughts, different views on things,[spoiler]different memories[spoiler]

  5. JapanInspired says:

I wonder how I didn’t see this earlier, but Celestia is wearing earrings and an armor ring from Vivienne Westwood.

    • Karakuri says:

Vivienne Westwood? Is that a brand? I don’t know if they were going for anything so specific… I see rings like that all the time in Asian malls.

      • JapanInspired says:

Yup, Vivienne Westwood is an English fashion designer, she’s really popular among Japanese Fashion-loving girls, especially Harajuku. I’m sure about the earrings, but not that sure about the ring though. They always draw it differently, so it’s hard to tell. But only Vivienne Westwood’s armor ring moves with the finger(it’s silver and rather expensive, I think about $200). The other cheap ones don’t move or made out of cheap materials.

    • Namika says:

That’s not necessarily Vivienne Westwood. Those kind of rings are rather popular now, so a lot of brands have them.

      • JapanInspired says:

But the earrings are Vivienne Westwood, I’m sure. It’s her sphere.
And if the earring are, then the ring most likely too.

  6. Namika says:

Okay. The twists get more interesting. And seeing Fujisaki’s AI was kinda reassuring. Will it become a kind of a trump card for them?

This whole situation seems fishy. I don’t know, at this point it’s just TOO obvious that Hagakure did it, so I actually doubt that he did. And what was the point in moving bodies around? To mislead others? I have no idea as to why would that idea seem good to someone. If you ask me, the goth-loli looks very suspicious in this situation. Her and Asahina have an alibi, that’s true, but I’m not counting out the possibility that they might have teamed up. Who knows…. And where’s Kirigiri? Somehow, no one asked the simple question – Wth is she? Dafuq

    • Karakuri says:

Alter Ego makes things… interesting. xD

Ahahaha seeing how the next episode is out already, I won’t say anything about anything here since all of your questions will be answered in the episode~. Kirigiri should be relevant… pretty soon.

      • Namika says:

        I’ve watched it already. :3
