First Impressions – Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

Moeful Magica~

In the beginning I was all, Magical girls in my fate/stay night… I don’t even! But as I read more about the premise and characters, it all started to make anime sense. I mean, just look at Illya, isn’t she perfect for the loliful awesomeness of a magical girl? So, you better be ready for this magical journey. At least we three are! Just don’t imagine us spouting flowers and transform into magical girls while reading this post…

Magical girls? In my Fate/Stay Night franchise. Somehow I’m not liking this idea. Okay, fine, I’m tired at the endless amount of Fate franchise that’s being animated right now, where are the other Type-Moon things that deserve to be animated by UFOTABLE as well?! *coughTsukihimecough* I don’t mind having the serious arcs being animated, but a spin-off that has nothing to do with the main story? Uffff.

Mahou shoujo in Fate/Stay, what will they think of next? Well, I’m kind of curious as to how much of a personality change some of the characters will get (or not get), but this should be fun, I guess. It’s a weird concept, but it’s not like the Fate series has always been deadly serious. I mean, look at Carnival Phantasm.

☆~ Spinoff Background // I’m writing this section, wearing Type-Moon’s technically first harem lead Kokutou Mikiya’s megane. I do this out of habit of becoming all scholarly whenever Type-Moon is mentioned as I deem it my duty of at least foreshadowing on why the hell everything is all sparkly and somewhat mussed up (including Shirou). This is not something Kinoko Nasu can come up with because he’s more of a dark and deep plots guy but with the popularity of fate franchise, doujins and fanfictions were bound to happen. In this particular case, the spinoff manga is a crowning glory for Kalmia (Hiroshi Hiroyama), whose career started as a fate doujin artist. He took his favourite characters from different fate franchise and put them together in a magical girl plot with the twist of collecting servants under class cards in the familiar setting of Fuyuki city.

For new watchers, you don’t really have to watch previous fate anime releases (/stay night doesn’t exist until ufotable makes it whole or /zero), for this because characters are introduced properly and I’m sure they will explain the class cards in next episode. However, for those who have watched at least one of the mentioned, for information’s sake, this is a world where Kiritsugu and Irisviel are pretty much around and mostly traveling (like any typical anime parents). Illyasviel and Shirou are looked after by the two maids Sella and Leysritt (you saw them in fate/stay night VN/anime); though, Shirou does most of the housework because he’s such a goody-two-shoes. The sausage blondie is a character from fate/hollow ataraxia VN known for her family connection and forever quibbling with Rin. Who in turn is her usual high-handed self, the epitome of tsundere. And let’s not forget Taiga, the famous home room teacher and leader of all bad-ends in the VN. She has a special place in all TM-tardian hearts. For us old folks, we will be seeing some surprise visits from some familiar faces and even if you are new and having trouble remembering all the names, I can assure you, it will be a fun ride!

☆~ Frenemies // Meet Rin and Luvia, the rivals that are going to be the mentors for our new magical girls. Judging from how both of them seem to be “affectionate” with each other, I figure they know each other from way back when they were in England. From the wiki info, it’s clear that they met in Clock Tower where Mage’s Association is headquartered. They attended the same magic university, and both of them are also the top honor students, aiming for the number one spot. They seem to have the same Master too, so I guess both of them also like their Master? It’s ironic how these two “enemies” have so many things in common, making them look more like tsundere best friends rather than enemies. Though they’ll spend most of their time bickering with each other, I expect some great teamwork from these two girls, especially when both of them actually balance each other out. If Rin, the red hot-blooded Mage, is not balanced out by Luvia, the blue elegant and composed Mage, then who will?

Unlike Rin and Luvia, Ruby and Sapphire are somehow…very co-operative with each other. Well, it’s more like both of them are really dedicated to get the Card Class to the point where they decided to dump Rin and Luvia and find their new masters. Both of the sticks have opposite personalities, Ruby being outgoing and Sapphire being composed, but their difference in personalities make the sticks sync with each other perfectly. This can be seen when both of them ditched the girls at the exact same time. They can also talk and the things that come out from them are definitely not nonsense. Since, Ruby also mentioned that she has A-grade power, I expect the same from Sapphire. I can’t wait for them to do their magical things together!

☆~ Magical Encounters // Illya is a reluctant mahou shoujo I guess since Ruby kind of conned her into becoming one in a ridiculous bath scene. And if I was paying attention properly, there’s no way for her to get out of the contract without Ruby’s consent? I’m kind of curious as to the whole point of this mahou shoujo thing in the first place and by extension, why choose Illya as a replacement? I’m kind of hoping that there’s more of a reason there other than the fact that loli magical girls sell. Even if it’s something simple like she was thinking about magic when Ruby was flying around (which is what I’m assuming for now). The transformation sequence’s animation was pretty nice, I have to admit. Then come the class cards. I’m not entirely sure what the hell they are, but considering that I read that Archer appears somewhere in this, maybe they summon servants? Since other than flying and shooting magical laser beams (which seem to be universal to these mahou shoujo), I have no idea what other kind of magic these girls can use. Plus, you know, this is based off of Fate/Stay. I’m sure the servants have something to do with all of this. I just hope that we get to see Illya’s Berserker somewhere in this if they do summon servants or whatever (or a Bersercar reference at least. That still makes me laugh, no matter how stupid it is).

Not as epic as this but still not bad

So, I’ll probably need a few more episodes to see if I actually want to watch this. Not that I’m saying that this was bad, but after so many mahou shoujo this season, I don’t know if I want to add this to my list of things I’ll keep up with or not. I’m not saying that Fantasista Dolls or Gen’ei is anywhere better than this, it’s just bad timing that I saw this one last. I’m… on the fence as to whether I thought that this was funny or not. Ruby seems just a touch bit obnoxious (and yet, never reaches the status of ‘annoying’). Rin and Luvia bickering could be something that gets on my nerves quickly as well. It did have it’s moments though and Ruby is kind of amusing occasionally. Plus Illya’s comebacks and background comments are funny. I don’t mind her as a heroine at least. And while I enjoy seeing the F/S characters again, I kind of want to know what the plot here is.  The animation looks nice at least (even though there were some continuity issues) and Illya’s transformation was really nice (minus Ruby’s, uh, comments). The style of animation is really cute too! As for the rest of production, I really like the OP song~ …and I’m not that fond of the ED, but I do admit that it fits well with the rest of the show. So yeah, I’ll give this a couple of episodes at least. I know I’ll get around to it eventually if I don’t watch this weekly , but the direction of this will determine if this takes a couple of weeks or a couple of years >.>

Well, that wasn’t so bad after all. The story starts with a typical first magical girl anime episode, so there’s nothing exciting about it. I do notice the similarities Prisma has with Cardcaptor Sakura except for Class cards and Illya’s magical girl uniform. Since I’m a fan of CCS, I’m cool with all the similarities. Besides, I get to see a happy Illya in this anime. My bad mood disappeared when she started speaking since she’s ASDFGHJKL so kawaiiiiii. I forgot how much I adore Illya and wished for a route of her own. If she has a route, it’s probably going to be like this… Why can’t my poor real Illya have a happy life? Anyhow, I’m still not fond of the magical girl idea, but I’ll make this series an exception. There are so many things I don’t like, starting from the rough art that is weird to look at to the typical magical girl story, but seeing a happy Illya is definitely worth it.

I am very picky when it comes to Type-Moon adaptations and I am not very fond of the magical girl genre per se. Seeing these two come together had me in doubt for a while but this spin-off at least had an interesting beginning. Minus Shirou’s messy-hair and petite framed characters, everything else was pretty okay otherwise. Silver Link has definitely been upping their titles from ecchi to sci-fi and supernatural to magical. I feared quality issue but they have done a good job, not pixel perfect as ufotable but still pretty good for their profile. Though, preair streaming sucks and I’m not touching anything except for UTW releases so don’t expect any preair coverage. Which brings me to the actual episode of introducing our first magical girl, Illya who became one after nose-bleeding due to her brother… Oh dear, we are in for a ride, aren’t we? For explanation’s sake Shirou is really not her brother but who cares? People dig wincest and we are fine with it.

This is just the beginning though but I am really looking forward to see all the servants revealed under class cards; they have always been my favourite in fate franchise. Also, that black Saber in OP looks interesting and we already know that Rider, Archer and Lancer would come in play soon. This will not be your typical magical girl show and with Silver Link I’m not sure how much fanservice we’ll be getting. But you can always watch this for Illya, who is  cuter than a button (damn, I’m using this phrase too much), and a moe-loli princess.

Kono ya… ro… XD so cute

  2. skylion says:

I think this is the strongest Mahou Shoujo of the season. It has all the earmarks of the genre, the reluctant wishful young girl, the clumsy bits, the transformation, and the nosebleed take =-O

I’m still catching up with Fate, but it’s nice to know I don,’t need to.

About the only weakness it has is that Ilya is to much a chew toy for the other characters and what plot we see. I’m hoping she breaks free of this.

    • Kyokai says:

I’m sure there will be people who will disagree with your point but as I’m not a big fan of the genre, I’m watching it more for the parody than storyline. Though, like anaaga, I do see CCS shadow over this and Sakura was definitely one of the revolutionary magical girl show even to-date.

Being caught up to Fate would make you enjoy the appearance of servants more but I guess, there will always be characters like Luvia who would come straight out of their VN than anime.

About Illya, I’ll tell you not to sell her too short. She’s a unique human with a very strong magical circuit in her. She might be slight in form but she packs a huge punch; I mean she commanded the strongest servant Berserker for a reason. Also, she’s a sadist at heart but I think we’ll only be seeing a sliver of it on this spin-off because she’s all flowers and rainbows. xD

    • MikADo says:

it has lots of parodies from CCS, Nanoha, Fate, and rest of the Nasu world memebers 😀 im guessing Nasu and their staff just wanted to play around with some off Fate Series’ overlooked bits and pieces and they drew it, somehow got popular enough to make it to the anime 😛

      • Kyokai says:

True that. Though, the manga has a different author but a dedicated one who started his career by drawing Fate doujins. Do you know along with Urobutcher, Narita even wrote a Fate fanfiction/novel? Fate just has the breadth and depth to accommodate any scenario really.

        • MikADo says:

i think Fate’s most interesting feature is that it brings out ancient ‘heroes’. it makes it so much more easier to write fan fictions or spinoffs! everyone has their favorite/respect hero right? also the fact that its quite the canon magic fantasy too 😀

  3. belatkuro says:

    >imagines the writers turn into mahou shoujo…
    Glorious.

Jokes aside, I really loved the first episode. All the characters I know and loved in an alternate setting while still being them. Awesome stuff. Even if this can be watched without watching any of the other Fate titles, the enjoyment will definitely be different from someone who did(like me).

They definitely did the casting on purpose for Ruby and Sapphire. Same seiyuus as Kohaku and Hisui. Couldn’t be better. Ruby is as big a troll as Kohaku and Sapphire is just as humble as Hisui.
Kadowaki Mai kind of sounds different but it’s still okay. Itou Shizuka’s voice is a miracle of the universe with Luvia(who finally got animated!). And Ueda Kana returns as my favorite tsundere Rin.

Character design is passable, though this is the first thing people notice I guess and may turn off some. And yeah, Shirou’s hair and body size is just so wrong. Then again, this isn’t the Seigi no Mikata Shirou so he must be rather lax in working out or taking care of his hair. He’s still a busybody at housework though.
Animation wise, it’s pretty great. The OP showed promise for the animation fights so I’m expecting a lot as this show will pack some good fights later. Can never get tired of watching Miyu twirl Gae Bolg around like that.

So far so good. This is definitely my favorite show this season(no surprises there). I’m following the preairs so I’m ahead on the episodes and it delivered well on episode 2. Too bad about the 10 episode count but that’s enough for the first series. Really hope we get a second season to cover 2wei. It gets really awesome there. Preorder-wise, this is around 4th or 5th but the points aren’t moving for a few days now. I’d have thought any Fate title would sell. Really hope it does well.

And of course, I’m pretty pumped up for the new F/SN project by ufotable. You can’t imagine my delight when I heard about it. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking then.
Whether it’s a full reboot or just Heaven’s Feel, I really won’t mind as long as I can see more F/SN animated in ufotable’s excellent animation. So yeah.

P.S. Contrary to the people’s opinion, I really can’t bring myself to hate on DEEN’s F/SN. That was the thing that brought me to the Nasuverse in the first place. It kind of holds a special place for me. Laughable I know but opinions, so yeah.

tl;dr Feels good to be a TM fan.

    • anaaga says:

I remember I used to hate the one by DEEN so much, but now the hate is lessened. I just… Don’t care anymore. Probably because the arc animated by DEEN is the one I like the least.

    • Kyokai says:

You are right about the Ruby and Sapphire casting. As Kohaku and Hisui, they make a perfect pair of hyper to mellow. And though the character designs did turn me off in the beginning (look at their size…), the seiyuu made me stay on. However you look at it, these are the characters WE KNOW and once that registers, others things don’t matter.

I do hope this will continue to S2 and even 3; if trend is to be believed, it will because TM Fate sells like hot cakes and this show has something for everyone from old to new fans.

And hell yeah for ufotable announcement. I conjectured on it when they first released the realta nua opening but maan, what a sweet announcement. I wish they animate the whole thing rather than just the heaven’s feel. That way I can forget about the DEEN version. Even when it was one of the first anime I checked out too. But at that time, it was just okay and entertaining but I didn’t know shit about the world building or even meaning behind Nasu work. My TM fever was fueled by KnK and for good reason.

Anyways, I always like your tl;dr on TM shows, belatkuro. Never stop! xD

  4. BlackBriar says:

So Kara no Kyokai (I’m gonna call you two that any time I see you Tag Teaming now) and Anaaga are blogging about magical girls, huh? Fosh has got competition. 😉 I’m still being broken into Type Moon so I can’t say I can complain if magical girls start showing up.

Looks like you guys answered my question before I even had a chance to ask. I wondering if this was cannon with the rest of the Fate series because from I understand, Illya didn’t believe magic was real. I don’t trust the way that wand Ruby operates. If it can turn on its current master and seek out a new one just to satisfy itself, then it’s more of a liability than an asset.

While this isn’t produced by ufotable, Silver Link did a good a job bringing the usual look of the series in its animation. You’d think it was done by the same studio.

Since watching Tsukihime and Fate/Zero, I got more interested in Type Moon stuff. I considered watching Fate/Stay Night but was too lazy to do so because it aired so long ago. Well, that might not be the case anymore since ufotable is going to produce a New Fate/stay night Project. While these Fate series are all well and fine, I’m with Anaaga. When is there going to be another Tsukihime?!

    • anaaga says:

Oh my god DO NOT watch fate/stay night by DEEN. DON’T. Actually, it’s pretty decent, but I personally don’t think that the one by DEEN is the best arc. Unlimited Blade Work and Heaven’s Arc is waayy better than the one by DEEN. Though if you want to know all three arcs, you have to include DEEN’s. Just play the VN.

      YES TSUKIHIME WHERE WHEN WHY.

      • BlackBriar says:

I’m still struggling so I don’t I’ll be able to get myself to start checking Fate/Stay Night out.

        • Kyokai says:

Forget the DEEN adaptation. Just hope ufotable starts from the first route. 😉

          • BlackBriar says:

I just hope I’m not wasting my time holding my breath for it to happen.

            • Kyokai says:

We’ll find out soon hopefully! With Fate’s 10th anniversary next year, I expect a huge BANNNG.

    • belatkuro says:

Everything is canon in Fate, including the bad endings in the VN(fan favorites are Mind of Steel and Sparks Liner High). It’s a Multiverse, and Nasu said so himself.
So yeah, this is as canon as it gets. These are still our characters from Fate. You’ll find that they’re not that different even if this is an alternative setting.

And well, Ruby did say that they have a mission given by a very special person in the Nasuverse. The girls weren’t doing it at the moment and are abusing their powers so they left them. So as long as Illya will follow Rin’s instructions to capture the Class Cards, she won’t leave her. She can be a big troll though so YMMV with regards to trusting her.

      >watching Tsukihime
Silly you. Didn’t you know there is no Tsukihime anime.
You need to be brainwashed 😉

And read the VN then if you’re not interested in watching DEEN’s F/SN. Though really, many will advice you against watching the anime. I’m not the one to talk though as I have a bias for the anime.
If you’re really interested in Fate and TM, read the VN. If not, wait for ufotable. Best bet will be next year since Fate will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year.

And blame Nasu. He was busy last year and rewrote the Fate/Extra CCC scenarios several times(though I hear it’s his best work yet). We still don’t have word on Girl’s Work as well. I want some Tsukihime as well but what can you do really. Fate is more profitable than Tsukihime. Japan loves Saber.

      • Karakuri says:

Fate/Extra CCC is the best work yet, if only for the fact that Gil strips naked and his lower half shines like the sun, scarring Lancer for life. Oh and it has THE greatest Shinji of any Fate story ever.

        • Liza says:

Kara! Stop making me want to buy it. D: My limited Japanese cannot handle the game!(Although I am very tempted to try anyway…)

        • Kyokai says:

          OMG Kara, look what you did to me. Now I am all about looking for screenshots…. >>;

          • Karakuri says:

Someone translated his lines. they go something like:

“Hm, that was not according to plan. Worthless dragon, my numbing majesty should have left you on the floor.
But, that was not your fault. I may just be too beautiful.”

            • belatkuro says:

Based Gil being so fabulous and over the top in his speeches.
I heard he traveled from the end of the galaxy when he was thrown away from the Moon Cell to go back to the player’s side and save. And he offered to travel with him in space with his Vimanna.
Now I’m tempted to play it even though I don’t know moonrunes. I did play SAO Infinity Moments so I might do well but I may miss all of the story because moon. I really hope it gets localized within a year.

            • Karakuri says:

That’s what I heard too. …I haven’t actually made it to that part, but apparently he says “screw you, I don’t feel like following your rules” to the mooncell and he and the MC go on an epic space adventure just because.

            • Kyokai says:

AAAAGH! Will we ever get an English release of this? ><

            • Karakuri says:

I REALLY hope so, Kyo! …Almost all of the servants like using flowery, archaic Japanese, and I have a hard time keeping up. OTL

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

There is no Tsukihime anime. Absolutely none. Anyone who says otherwise must be taking some crazy hallucinogen that should be shared among the rest of us. IIRC, Deen animated the UBW arc too…

The problem with the FSN anime is that it incoporated bits of the other two routes.

Anyway, at the rate it is going, I see that only the 1st series is getting animated since it is 2 chapters = 2 episodes so far. I love the Kaleidosticks Kohaku and Hisui. ANN has no ****ing idea how to write their seiyuu allusions for Ruby and Sapphire. FYI, the original VA for Ruby was…

        George Clooney
        err.. George Best
        err.. Jouji Nakata

        • Kyokai says:

I agree on the Tsukihime anime. Though, I’d love to see the VN remake they are working on. Maybe we’ll get it ten years later? Le sigh.

          • BlackBriar says:

Ten years? No way!! I’ll die of anxiety long before that time.

            • Kyokai says:

Do you know how long it took for Mahoyo to release? Eight frickin’ years. I’m optimistic but not TOO much when it comes to Type-Moon releases. OTL

            • Rakkyo says:

My general theory when dealing with TM releases

Anything without a release date can take up to ten years to be released.
Anything with a release date can and will be delayed.

Kinda pessimistic but its the truth hahaha

            • Kyokai says:

              It is the truth after all. We speak from experience. >>;

            • d-LaN says:

You forgot abt “Wait another few more years for patch to come out”.

  5. Highway says:

I didn’t care for this one as much as the other shows. I kind of have a like / dislike feel for the pushy wands. I like the idea of a personified magic wand. I don’t know if I like Ruby.

Like skylion says, it’s kind of problematic to make the all around weakest character be the focus of the plot. Illya just has everything… not really ‘against’ her, but she’s smallest, youngest, a girl, a n00b, basically she’s got every disadvantage so far.

    • Kyokai says:

I think Ruby will keep on being pushy and a loudmouth throughout the series. Though, I do hope her A-class status has some magical benefits.

About Illya, I’ll say the same thing, yes, she’s a loli and her voice shakes with emotions but she’s hella powerful as well even in fate-verse and that is the base for her to make a magical girl. As I don’t want to spoil, let’s just say she has a very powerful lineage and inherent abilities.

  6. Liza says:

When Ruby came in through the window I had a flashback to the first Pretty Cure where something similar happened.

Since I recently got into the Type-Moon world, I got really excited whenever I recognized a character.

Go Ilya! Spread your cuteness into the world! 😀

    • JPNIgor says:

I would say that Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou promises more with the darker plotline and a whole new world for us to see (and at least 22 magical somethings [because we can’t be sure that they are all girls] to see). But Fate/kaleid is still nice and it promises a lot of hilarious moments. On the second episode it becomes obvious that Fate/kaleid is actually a parody, so I’m not taking it seriously, just enjoying it.

      • Awesomeman!234 says:

Well actually, the Fate/Kalied manga is already in its third season, with the anime only covering the first, so I think will have something to make less of a parody, we’ll just have to wait and see.

      • Kyokai says:

This is indeed a show not to be taken seriously. Sure, it’s going to be splashy and loud with fights and class-servants coming into play but it’s more of a homage to how great most of the Fate characters are and a comical take at them in a different situation. Not as hilarious as Carnival Phantasm but on the scale of Nasu seriousness to CP hilariousness, Prisma Illya is somewhere in the middle.

      • Rakkyo says:

It does get quite serious much later in the series though, if we ever get there.

  7. d-LaN says:

I want to see Fate/Extra or Fate/Hollow Ataraxia or MahoYo animated >3< But oh well ufotable F/SN is fine too. I think Tsukihime will only get a chance at being animated after the remake is out.

I'm….. not really sure wht to think of this. On one hand, magical girls in F/SN is a wacky idea. On other hand, I really don't like F/SN Ilya. Oh well 3 episode test.

Kyuubey….. And you are telling me those two in the screencaps are the maids w/out the hat!? O_O Also why Shirou hair always looks weird in spin-off? (Apocrypha…)

    • Kyokai says:

If it was up to me, I’d animate the hell out of ALL NASU work. I mean seriously, this guy is amazing at building multi-layered stories. Though, I still have to be thankful about whatever I do get and when it has the ufotable stamp on it, THE BETTER!

Btw, this does not have F/SN Illya but an even more chirpy version of her. Don’t expect her to be the sadist she was, rather a happy go lucky loli, who’s still figuring out stuff.

I’d had fun photoshopping a Ruby-Kyuubey and yes, these two maids are the ones we saw in FSN without their head-scarves and maid uniforms. I got over Shirou’s hair but man it still sucks.

      • d-LaN says:

Watched it. FRAKING SOLD! Rin & Blondie (her first animated debut, right?) banter was hilarious XD Kohakustick & Hisuistick is fun to watch too =)

Not to mention Shirou looks so….. short.

        • Kyokai says:

Yep, this is the first time we are watching sausage-roll hair adapted into anime. She’s fun just for bickering with Rin. And it’s not just Shirou, but everyone is short! I mean look at Rin too; you might not notice it with Illya because she is forever loli. 😉

  8. MikADo says:

hahaha who would have known, really that a spin-off manga would become animated?! i was really surprised to see it on the list and im quite happy how it turned out 😀
lets see if they can catch up to the manga!

This news is almost like Sensha Otoko getting animated… Completely out of the blue but entertaining still.

Though, I’ll suggest to wait for S1 to be over to catch up on manga or else you won’t actually feel surprised. I’m staying away for this season at least.

I knew this would turn into a Nasu room…You guys are like Rush fans, am I right, HWY?

A nice little tidbit I noticed, Ruby and Saphire are called ‘kaleido sticks,’ and if you add ‘scope’ you get kaleidoscope. For those of you who don’t know, that’s the Second True Magic, wielded by Zelretch, and is the power to cross dimensions. I see them going somewhere with this.

    • BlackBriar says:

So from this, Illya will probably be crossing dimensions.

    • Kyokai says:

That’s a good catch there. If I remember the little info I got from wiki, Zeltretch is the name of the mater who made the kaleidosticks and entrusted it to Rin and Luvia as guardians until they are given to their true owners.

  11. PrimeHector says:

I love how the voice of Kohaku just gives Ruby that diabolical “I’ll do it anyway because it’s funny” vibe.

    • Kyokai says:

Ideally I would hate a pushy character like her but damn, Kohakufied Ruby makes it so much better.

  12. KLACMAN says:

well give saw 2eps of this already well give for certain by time dub arrive sure both mela & sheh back again for those characters.

give ruby stick wonder if same type as fate version of kyubey?

    • Kyokai says:

I might just give the preairs a run but I’m still resisting because of quality of the video. Though, jokes aside I don’t think Ruby is actually as evil as Kyuubey. However, I wonder on her sadistic tendencies. xD

  13. Rakkyo says:

Here’s what I was thinking for the first few minutes:
    “Christ… Moe… Moe everywhere…”

Kohaku and Hisui being casted as the Kaleidosticks is a really nice touch too. And that transformation sequence is nothing short of fabulous.

It’s a pretty faithful adaptation so I don’t really see any problems so far. Fight scenes look good too. This’ll probably sate my TM hunger enough until that FSN remake.

Seriously Nasu, you have Girls’ Work, DDD Vol.3, Tsukihime Remake and Mirai Fukuin in the works and you chose THIS to come out first?

    OTL

    • skylion says:

      It’s another author’s work…

    • Kyokai says:

      Call it Nasu’s philandering for sure! Though, I think he has too much work and projects. When will see that Tsukihime remake and next chapter of DDD?! >>;

      • belatkuro says:

Daily reminder that Takeuchi is the real mastermind in Type-Moon and bullies Nasu into writing stuff XD.
And we all know that a certain genderbent king is his waifu(more than the younger maid). So yeah, not expecting the remake anytime soon 🙁

        • d-LaN says:

          I like tht guy.

Reminds me of this tidbit frm Beast Lair paraphrased a bit:

The maids don’t get a redesign because they are ady perfect when Takeuchi 1st designed them.

        • Kyokai says:

I thought this was a known truth about Takeuchi calling the shots? He has all Nasu’s first masterpieces in original form (Mahoyo’s first copy for reference). I see him as a sadist boss who tortures Nasu into writing the stuff, which sells more by blackmailing with his deep, dark, secrets. LOL, kidding!

Also, I too hate the fact how much Saber is famous in Japan. Damn it, I hated seeing Shiki at number 2 on TM polls. >:(

          • belatkuro says:

Exactly. Precisely because Takeuchi is calling the shots so that’s why there’s a lot more Fate coming out than the other works. He wants more of his Servant waifu :3

And all TM girls are best girls in my heart so that poll doesn’t mean anything to me 😉
And that’s another factor I guess. Japan loves Saber a lot so we get more Fate. True story but what can we do.

      • Cybersteel says:

Did someone make a plot about Phantasmoon yet?
