Summer Anime Catalogue 2013

Welcome to METANORN’s Summer Anime Catalogue of 2013!

Oh summer, why are you back?! Didn’t I tell you to buzz off last year? But oh well, I have to live with you anyway. So, I’m most excited about a show that is actually a rebroadcast, which I’ve seen so many times that I’ve lost count but what the hell, it’s going to be a blast with anything Type-Moon, even if it’s a weird Illya spinoff. I have some good expectations from Blood Lad (Brains Base, don’t fail me!), along with Monogatari, Gin no Saji, KamiNomi, Free! (obviously!) and Inu to Hasami. From the point of being all meh, I’m at least looking forward to the mixed-bag that summer season has to offer.
Summer’s here, so we say goodbye to goodies like Gargantia, Chihaya & Maou-sama, bring along other goodies like Titan and Railgun S and restock on more “Currently Watching” shows for our lists. We have another season in which a -monogatari series and High School DxD air together… that might be a hotness overload. I’m really glad to see The World God Only Knows get that 3rd season and bring back one of anime’s best characters, Keima Katsuragi. I’m also curious about both of A-1 Pictures’ shows this season, Servant x Service and Silver Spoon, which seem to have potential in their own ways. Have a Summah!
I have no patience, just bring me the new shows already! Speculating about upcoming shows is always exciting, kind of like low-risk gambling. In the end, I just want to actually see what’s coming and start pruning my watching list as the great shows separated themselves from the “Oh God, I can’t watch this past episode one” shows. There are a lot of promising sequels and spin-offs (Tamayura, Bakemonogatari, and that one show where Illya is suddenly a magical girl) that should be definite hits, along with some new shows I’ll be testing the waters of. I spy a Kenji Nakamura anime there and that makes me happy~
Wooooooo! Time for summer which means swimsuits, hot weather, cold drinks and lots of thunderstorms for me in Florida but there is nothing wrong with a little rain from time to time. So how about this season? Judging by our list of new anime I can tell this season is going to be a season of magical girls because we have roughly four starting with Fantastia dolls,  Senki Zesshou Symphogear G, Gen’ei Kakru Taiyou and Fate/Kaleid liner Prisma IIIya?! So if you are a fan of that genre you might have some fun. However, I think just about everyone and their brother or sister has their eyes set on FREE! because KyoAni is doing something different instead of the usual formula of cute girls doing cute things, which I will admit has me a bit curious…
I’m not the best aniblogger out there in this world. I literally disappeared for one season, ditching the precious 2D anime life for my 3D real life. I am a shame to all anime lovers out there for prioritizing real life over anime. But hey, it’s holiday now so I can watch anime all day long! I’ll be sticking around more too, that I can promise that. I mean, just look at the yaoi-dripping anime that’s going to be shown in summer. A swimming club with a bunch of underage pretty boys? A dozen male siblings “fighting” for their imouto? And what is that other show about magic and pretty boys? With all these treats and the release of Leijiverse remakes, I am sure as hell I’ll be sticking around this summer because this summer is for us fujoshi.
I… I can’t believe that this is the third year that I’m with Metanorn for the summer season. Time really flies. Anyways, last summer season wasn’t exactly all I thought it would be, but hopefully this year is significantly better. Danganronpa (currently my favourite visual novel) is getting an anime, which is exciting. Also, Rozen Maiden is back and I don’t know how long some of you have been stalking this site, but that’s been a favourite of mine for a while (despite containing nearly nothing of what my interests are now). Actually, this season has a fair few shows that I want to try out, and there are quite a few sequels of shows that were excellent (aka TWOGK and Monogatari s2) before so if the new stuff flops, those should be reliable enough to fall back on to.
Ah, is there any other way to spend another insufferably hot summer than inside my home with a ton of new anime to watch? None, obviously (Okay, maybe some things, but that is definitely number one!). Anyway, this is probably the first time I’ve actually been excited for the summer anime season! With my curiosity about Dangan Ronpa finally being fulfilled, the sure-to-be-amazingly-animated FREE anime finally being released, and a generous amount of anime of different genres for me to try out, I can’t wait to get started watching and blogging them. With that, I’ll leave you with Metanorn’s always amazing summer guide to pick out the anime you’ll be checking out while (hopefully) in a nice, air-conditioned room~
If you’re at all familiar with the posts I’ve done, you can probably guess that the show I’m most looking forward to next season is a certain thing by Shaft, a studio I’ve been a fan of for a very long time now. Though maybe I’m an even longer (though less enthusiastic) fan of Kyoto Animation, which has been making a splash (hurr) with its new swimming anime. I’m hoping this will be more Hyouka than Chu2koi, though I think we’re probably gonna get a sort of K-On. A show I’m quite confident I”ll love, though, is The World God Only Knows, a franchise that’s had two hilarious seasons with fine work by the lovable Hiro Shimono as lead. I’m sure I’ll check out plenty of other shows in that first week and fall in love with some of them – that new anime by the same author of Working!! and the one about girls with airsoft guns look like they could be right up my alley.
Summer is here! This season, we get a wide array of sizzling hot shows ranging from magical girls (4 of them, even) to wet bishies and everything in between. Not to mention, there are a handful of sequels to keep our appetite for more whetted. Gatchaman (though technically not a direct sequel), Genshiken, and Rozen Maiden bring a blast from the past, returning after a whopping 19, 7, and 8 years, respectively! TWGOK jumps ahead to the juicier bits of the story, though whether skipping material is a good idea remains to be seen. And of course, we can never forget about the Monogatari series, which I’m sure you already know is getting a much anticipated “second season”. I guess they only count Nisemonogatari as a side story? Anyway, there’s lots of good material to watch, so sit back and enjoy some anime in the comfortable, air-conditioned confines of your home while temperatures reach unbearable levels outside!
I’m always interested in a new anime season, although it’s always tinged with a little bit of sadness because it means that the old shows that I liked are going away. But enough melancholy! I don’t go in for “this season looks worse / better than the last season” stuff anymore, because there’s always something I like to watch, and that’s what makes life fun. So take a look through all these new shows, and see what you think might tickle *your* fancy! As for me, I’ll probably be trying ALL of it. 😀

Not so late this time as well or so we’d like to think! Enjoy the hawt graphics and our review overload as per your fancy. As always, we have made the list comprehensive yet compact enough for you to ogle over in one go so be ready to…

Even my (girl) friends who aren’t into anime as much as me are waiting for this 😀 Finally, some male fanservice *-* yaaaaaay~

    • skylion says:

Quite, frankly, so am I. One. It’s KyoAni, and I’ve been a huge fan. Two. I’m curious as to how much manservice will be on the plate, and the reactions round these parts will probably be very creamy. Three. It sounds kinda cool, the character and story.

      Bring on the fresh meat!

      • Namika says:

I hope they won’t go too far the wrong way, if you know what I mean. 😐 I’m all for shounen-ai/yaoi borderline type-ish stuff, but when I know, it’s gonna be there.

    • Ceyrai says:

I’m not much into fabulous boys who may or may not have a thing for each other, but really, the combination of that plus moe-giant KyoAni is something I really wanna see. Plus my sister is fujoshi, it’s hard not to get caught up in the whole upper bodies excitement.

(Also, just a commercial and a few PVs in and I’m already seeing Makoto in my dreams. Mnnnhh~~~)

      • Namika says:

        Wow, a fujoshi sister. That’s amazing 😀
Fabulous young men….. why not? 😀

And the first PV blew me away. I showed it to EVERYONE whom I know watches anime 😀

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahahah Namika your FREE comment broke through the comment box! It must be your powerful fangirl powers~

      • BlackBriar says:

That’s the power of a dedicated fujoshi. In other words, it means show some respect or you’ll be burned by her fury. Me, I’m already heading for the hills. 😛

        • skylion says:

          Nah, stay, it’ll be fun.

          • Tofu says:

That awkward moment when you Google search ‘Free! anime’ hentai pictures come out as well O___O

            • skylion says:

What some call awkward, some call a gold mine. Stay sharp, Tofu.

            • BlackBriar says:

              You’ve got to be kidding…

            • skylion says:

Go for it, BB. Gooooo for eeeeet.

            • Tofu says:

My Google search was on Safe Search too :\

            • BlackBriar says:

Possible trojan horse trying to get you to watch hentai?

            • d-LaN says:

              Considering tht they ady have a Free! doujinshi event earluier… ^w^;

          • Namika says:

            I double that. :3

            • BlackBriar says:

Okay, I’ll stick around but I’ll proceed with extreme caution.

            • skylion says:

You doubt the fujoshi joygasms will be fun? I’m kinda lost in this comment-reply trail….

            • BlackBriar says:

So many comments are stacked up. It would be amazing not to get lost. And we’re mostly responsible for it. *laughs nervously*

            • skylion says:

              ::laughs triumphantly::

      • Namika says:

        Hehe, probably :3

        • BlackBriar says:

I was right to be fearful. *shivers*

          • skylion says:

Those shaking knees are the blobs that will support Shinobu and Leticia?

This war is over before it begins…

            • BlackBriar says:

Oh no, you don’t! This is far from over. I’m more than willing to go down fighting for those two.

    • d-LaN says:

Watching fujoshi/female otaku going HYPE is really entertaining to me XD

I’m watching it too just cuz of the HYPE STORM. Hope it have a decent plot.

      • Namika says:

Not hard to be 😀 on the other hand, I’m a little embarrassed sometimes, when I read through my comments.

        • Kyokai says:

Naah, it’s alright. Fujoshi power rocks~

          • Namika says:

Especially when you have someone who will fangirl with you 😀

            • BlackBriar says:

Now all you girls need is Anaaga by your side.

            • Kyokai says:

She’s already there, she comments or not. xD

            • d-LaN says:

              *grabs popcorn* Go on.

            • BlackBriar says:

You’re going to need an extra large drink to wash that down.

            • skylion says:

This 42 year old man will gladly fangirl with you. And I have the drinks to make it happen.

            • Namika says:

              Hehe, drinks are welcome :3

            • skylion says:

Should make for quite the time…

    • MikADo says:

lol namika lol your excitement has startled me

  2. skylion says:

No one wants to blog Kiniro?! With all your possible interests in blogging given, I think we should call you MetaSlice, HWY. Toss this one in, I’ll understand you.

    • Highway says:

A lot of it is that 1) I’m not sure if it’s a short series or not, and 2) blogging outright comedy is *hard*. There are some possibilities, tho, such as maybe a split with Kitakubu the way I’m doing Nyarlko and Leviathan this season. We’ll have to see how the shows turn out, tho.

    • Foshizzel says:

I will probably watch it! I kind of hope to find the summer version of Yuyushiki because it surprised me this season and I know one of those club themed anime in the summer has character designs from Yuru yuri? I think it might be Kiniro? LOL

    • Sumairii says:

I second a MetaSlice corner. We would post pictures of deli meat every week.

  3. Namika says:

Other than that I think I’m gonna watch
Bloodlad, because Brains Base. Plus, I like the art a lot, and it looks like a fun anime to watch.
Hakkenden(if i’ll get around to watching the first season)
Danganronpa, because the plot looks interesting
Brothers Conflict, because I admit it, I’m a sucker for harem animes o-o
Kimi no Iru Machi for some much needed shoujo.
Silver Spoon. The premise is rather strange, if you ask me, but I’m going to watch it for Hiromu Arakawa. Comedy, hehe :3
FINALLY, Boukoku no Akito! I’ll have to wait till September, but what the hell. Wasn’t it scheduled for July, though? I’m pretty sure it was. But I want to see it so badlyyyyyy >~<" I'm so excited to see the second season *_*

    • Foshizzel says:

Great list! I am looking forward to Bloodlad, Silver Spoon and Boukoku no Akito <3

      • Namika says:

Yeah, that’s probably my big 3 this season. With Danganronpa and Kimi no Iru Machi as runner-ups.

    • Karakuri says:

I don’t want to get anyone excited and them let them down, but really, Brothers Conflict should be good xD (and for once, it should be good if they do follow the novels)

      • Foshizzel says:

I will watch a few episodes Kara xD

      • d-LaN says:

I just wish there more successful otome adaption so ppl won’t go “AH MAH GAWD OTOME SHIZ” everytime there a otome anime announcement 🙁 Hope this one escape the cursed fate….

        • BlackBriar says:

Well, this won’t be the end of the otome adaptions. Maybe one will finally get some justice. I know Diabolik Lovers is getting its adaption next season and I’m putting some hope into that. I read the anthology manga and I must admit, it’s awesomely screwed up.

          • d-LaN says:

Forums reading will be fun by the time it comes out ^w^; I saw a screenshot LP of the VN and it somehow turns into a psychology debate later.

And yes, the VN is chock full of NOPE just at its prologue.

            • BlackBriar says:

I think a lot of psychological questions will be raised when it comes out. Especially on the lead girl.

            • Karakuri says:

Well Diabolik Lovers is basically S&M-Oedipus Complex-abusive relationship +vampires because why not the game. …I’m having fun with it at least. xD

          • Namika says:

Awesomly screwed up otome game/anime sounds nice

            • BlackBriar says:

The manga shows that there’s no holding back on the S&M aspect of the relationships with the main girl. You get pure WTF moments at every turn. And I know this a little ahead of time: Yuki Kaji will be playing Kanato, the vampire brother who’s always carrying a teddy bear.

            • Irenesharda says:

Despite the lure of the vampires, I’m going to have to say no to that one. And Yuki Kaji in another vampire show so soon? Well, hopefully he won’t lose an arm again. The vote’s still out on if he will lose one in Valvrave come fall. 😛

            • Namika says:

Sounds interesting. Count me in on that one

        • Namika says:

Yeah, that’s rather unfortunate. But lets not loose hope! ^_^

        • Karakuri says:

Hakuouki was pretty successful as far as I remember. It has 421740081 anime things going on and the same number of games, so there’s that. …Though a lot of the fans of that are probably mostly fujoshi.

I kind of have hopes for Juuza-something-or-other that’s coming out. It has a solid storyline, an excellent composer and a competent heroine. …Or at least, I don’t think they’d tone down someone who’s apparently the strongest fighter of her race too much to have her conform to every other heroine.

      • Namika says:

I hope it will be. I want a harem anime that is actually good, not only for the bishies or the fanservice.

    • BlackBriar says:

Interesting list. I’m just a bit baffled to the fact there’s such a thing as a vampire otaku in Blood Lad.

      • skylion says:

So, Staz will be your next avatar?

        • BlackBriar says:

That will depend if he’s epic enough and if I like his character.

          • skylion says:

From just the hype, he looks like he may have Maoa levels of epic. So you take his avatar, which leaves me with no choice but to make another Shinobu one. It’s not like I want too, but since it’s my responsibility, I will.

            • BlackBriar says:

Sounds like a commitment. 🙂 I’ll make my decision to do so if the hype is worthy of it.

      • Namika says:

BB, it’s anime we’re talking about here. 😀 EVERYTHING is possible here 😀

  4. Namika says:

Spammy ate my comment. I hate it when that happens TT^TT

    • Foshizzel says:

I saved it! Since this was posted Spammy is going to be eating a lot of comments so I shall keep an eye open xD

      • skylion says:

Yep, he got a reply of mine below…Summer anime makes our boy hungry…

      • BlackBriar says:

You’re going to need more than an eye out. A whole army, in fact. This kind of post is an all you can eat comment buffet for the insatiable little monster. He’s going to get stuffed before you can catch up.

      • Namika says:

Go forth, Foshizzel, protector of comments! We all salute thee 😀

  5. Tofu says:

Yoko’s only voicing one new series? 🙁 It’s a shame but oh wells, no point crying over spilt milk ^^

I can’t get into Kingdom, too much CG and Symphogear felt too deus ex machina for me first couple of episodes in the first season. As for Ro Kyu Bu and Highschool Dungeons and Dragons, waaaay too much fanservice~ (Although I heard from a friend that Highschool’s story is actually well written… I don’t know if he was serious or just blind by all the fanservice…

FINALLY Blood Lad is coming out! It was postponed for quite a while I actually forgot about it until I saw it in the Summer chart 😛 Really hoping it turns out to be similar to Hataraku Maou (and like you said Kyo, the main guy is voiced by the same dude – Ryouta Ousaka) except, I felt that the humor in Hataraku lost it’s touch as the series progressed, still funny, but nothing can compare to the first few episodes – KATSU-DOOOM!! Here’s hoping Blood Lad will provide a more unique and fresh approach to the demon-goes-into-the-human-world-comedy-series.

Bakemonogatari 2nd Season? OH HEEELLLLL YEAAAAHH!!! MORE SENJOUGAHARA PLEASE!!

Ahahahahah Free… as a KyoAni fan, this really intrigues me and I’m not against it at all. It looks as beautiful as you would expect it to be since it’s done by KyoAni and…. that’s practically all you really need to know 😉

    *fanboy mode activated*

Also, K-On didn’t throw away their story or their genre. It was about a bunch of girls having fun in a music club and that’s what they did. Also the genre included slice-of-life so when they were only hanging out without actually playing music (even though there’s much more to music than just playing music), they were not straying away from their original story nor genre they had in mind. Maybe at times it was lacking in music, but it introduced it early on, and it finished with a musical bang.

    *fanboy mode deactivated*

I’m looking forward to P.A Work’s new series simply because they’re finally getting rid of Hanasaku Iroha’s character designs… ugh… sure it looked pretty at first, but using it in another 2 series (Tari Tari and Red Data Girl), it gets tiring…

I might try out Rozen Maiden simply because I’ve been getting more and more into dark series like Shin Sekai Yori and Mirai Nikki. Also Rozen is pretty well known so it’d be shame on me for putting it off, especially if the new remake will be following the manga. But should I watch the first one before I try the remake? 🙁

Oh yeah, there’s also a movie coming out this Summer called HAL which includes Hikasa Yoko’s 2nd single in it (which I already bought and love it SOOO MUCH!). Also, she’s voicing the main girl so that’s DOUBLE WIN!! I’m surprised it’s not in the movie list… was it postponed!??! D:

    • skylion says:

All rise, all rise, the court of K-ON! fandom now in session, the Honorable Judges Tofu and Skylion presiding.

I concur with my learned partner that the story and characterization of this esteemed animated affair is of superlative quality from the first minute, until the last notes of Fuwa Fuwa Time played during the final credits of the feature length film.

I shall therefore judge it to be Super Awesome, the defendants are now subject to watch every available second.

      Court is adjourned.

If they can keep the characterization going on Free! then they won’t have any problems. I’m not worried to much about the manservice, as most of the previews seem to give it about appetizer levels of attention, rather than a main course. Which is not too say we can’t get a couple hauls of six pack every episode….

      • BlackBriar says:

All rise, all rise, the court of K-ON! fandom now in session, the Honorable Judges Tofu and Skylion presiding.

Judges? Hahaha, I thought there was a K-ON feud going on between you two. How deceiving.

        • skylion says:

I think Tofu and I are solid in the K-ON fandom department.

          • Tofu says:

When it comes to K-On in general, skylion and I are solid like superglue 😉 But when it comes to Mio and/or Azu-nyan… the pitchforks come out! xD

            • BlackBriar says:

It’s that easy to sever a bond of trust. I’d tread carefully if I were in your places because from that statement alone, I’d imagine things would go peace treaty to Hatfields and McCoys in no time flat.

            • skylion says:

I am just two branches removed from the McCoys. And thou the two clans have buried the hatchet, I was at that ceremony, I know where it lays. And it will come out to firmly put the Azu-cat under the wing of the Skylion…..

            • Tofu says:

ohohoho, believe me, I know where MY hatchet is as well Skylion and it will surely come out if anyone takes Mio from me. For now, I shall allow you ‘borrow’ Azu-nyan. Consider this a mutual agreement for the time being >:]

Oh gosh, I’m constantly thinking of Total War Shogun 2 and its diplomacy page… I’m totally suffering withdrawal symptoms from not playing that great game again T___T But… must… study… *sigh* I need some azu-sist with this 🙁

            • skylion says:

Thou Mio is hard to let go, I will gladly allow this. That we can share the Azu-cat is satisfactory. This is more than A Certain Selfish Vampire Love would allow.

              Your most gracious ally.

            • Highway says:

I have repeatedly set my forces in the Mio corner, and agree that skylion can have Azunyan.

            • skylion says:

RE: Mio. I’m more a Ritsu fan anyway….

          • Sumairii says:

No one expects the K-ON! Inquisition!

            • skylion says:

Our chief weapons are cake and kawaii. Our tow chief weapons are cake, kawaii and fierce devotion to Keion-bu. Our three chief weapons are cake and ……..

              Ooh, bugger it.

            • BlackBriar says:

              Inquisition? What’s going on here?

            • Tofu says:

don’t forget tea Skylion, it’s the tea that turns the tides in war 😉

            • skylion says:

              Cardinal Fang?! Fetch the tea!

            • BlackBriar says:

Tea during a war? Now I’m thinking Girls und Panzer all of a sudden.

            • Highway says:

No, that was a different Monty Python reference

I have never loved GuP more than I did in that moment. And I could see it coming, and I loved hearing tamago…

    • Foshizzel says:

Blood Lad reminds me of Kore wa zombie because of all the supernatural characters and I heard the manga is really good, but I will watch the anime series xD

      YAY MORE BAKAMONO! I can’t wait <3

I am somewhat curious to see what KyoAni does with FREE even though I feel MOST people are watching for the bits of male fanservice? Then again I can't blame the female audience because they always get left out while the males get countless fanservice shows? So fair is fair xD

      • Tofu says:

Yeah the girls deserve more so it’s a nice change of atmosphere and pacing I guess 🙂 Even guys can get into Free (but might have trouble cosplaying it without low-self esteem… JUST LOOK AT THEM ABS!) T____T

      • skylion says:

Sing out for the Sisters! Free! Manservice FTW!

      • BlackBriar says:

FREE sounds like an undercover way of saying the girls demand equality in fanservice so KyoAni is giving them what they want.

        • skylion says:

At the end of the day, they have to deliver a good story with solid characters. This has worked for them in the past on several programs. They’ve never been one for fanservice in the most general of ways. If this show is a sea change for them, then more power to them. If they find a demographic to satisfy the contribution they made to the committee money, then hats off to them.

Now, bring on DEM SICs PACS.

          • BlackBriar says:

I have faith in KyoAni for story and character development which is why hearing them taking on fanservice is news to me. If they succeed, then good for them.

          • Highway says:

I dunno, it’s always been moe fanservice. They’ve never been shy about that.

        • Namika says:

Either way is fine, as long as we get a good anime. Especially with some fanservise exclusively for female audience. Seriously, I wish there were more animes like that TT^TT

    • Jrow says:

I too am looking forward to Uchouten Kazoku, also because the author of the LN series it’s based on also did Tatami Galaxy which was a really great series that was witty and funny. It is also a good idea to see character designs different from Mel Kishida… not that he’s bad, he’s really good… just different for a change as you elude to.

      • Foshizzel says:

Uchouten Kazoku looks fun! Hopefully it can revive my hope for P.A. works because RDG failed to keep me entertained >.>

        • BlackBriar says:

I half agree with that. The scenery from their animation had me entertained somewhat. The story could have been better. I guess P.A Works simply hit a slump.

          • Tofu says:

That’s why I’m really hoping they’re gonna come back in full force with Uchouten 🙁 I’ve been a fan of them since Angel Beats and loved their work on True Tears.

And yeah Jrow, Kishida is definitely a great artist, but you can only have so much of one thing (besides the K-On character designs… hehehehehe…)

Red Data Girl was all over the place, or at least it felt like it needed more episodes to really unpack what’s happening and why it’s happening. Also to give most of the cast the air time they deserve because most of the characters in that show, we just don’t care about because they lacked air time or significance towards the overall plot :\ I might be wrong, someone englighten me if I am~

            • skylion says:

The Kishida designs are so damn dynamic, thou. They never ever grow stale. Two series of K-ON, Tamako Market, the influence on Chu2Koi, and now Free, and we have yet to really see much character repetitions.

            • Highway says:

Well, I think you’re a bit wrong, cause I thought the show was excellent, and while it moved a long way, it was tremendously interesting. But I guess different horses for different courses. I don’t think RDG was a failure at all, but I’m in the minority.

            • skylion says:

RDG was no failure; it had all the marks of a very great story even with it’s flaws. Too many characters, with uneven development, is what threw me off.

            • Tofu says:

Well alright, maybe I didn’t pay enough attention to the story itself but any show with uneven character development ruins a show for me and that was what I was trying to imply in the 2nd half of the paragraph. I emphasize the importance of character development in a LOT of shows so when that goes bad, basically everything goes bad for me 😛

    • Karakuri says:

For Rozen Maiden, I think it’s starting right from the beginning (or at least that’s what the trailer looked like) so I think you should be fine skipping the other anime. …Or if not, it should at least recap since that trunk opening scene is there.

    • Kyokai says:

@ Tofu, What happened to your Yoko fanboyism? I think they were quashed by KyoAni fanboyism. Tsk, she’s voicing five roles this season. 😛

      • BlackBriar says:

Do I sense treason? I need to get a front row seat. 😛

        • skylion says:

::popping pop corn, chilling the brewski::

          • BlackBriar says:

Hey! No hogging all the refreshments! Save some for me! LOL.

            • skylion says:

::kaka:: You know the price my dear Vampire Lover. You know the price….

            • Kyokai says:

              Oh you two! xD

@ Tofu, another thing. We already covered Hal previous review so didn’t include it.

            • Tofu says:

My Yoko love is still as strong as ever! AS IF I COULD BE CALLED INTO QUESTIONING FOR SUCH A THING!

I am definitely happy she’s doing 5 roles this season as she’s done heaps the last two seasons as well. It’s practically a big Hikasa Yoko BOOM and thus, I will refer to this year as the Hikasa boom :3

I totally pre-ordered that 2nd single and I’m keeping it locked away in a safe place to preserve it’s condition ^_^

But unfortunately, the other series she’s in are not series I would watch (all the continuations I mean). There’s only one completely new series and I’m definitely giving it a try hehehehehe 😉

    • Namika says:

About PA works, you’re right. It was surprising to see that they’re finally releasing the show that looks different from everything they had done before. Finally!

  6. skylion says:

    Super Action Fantasy Club

I don’t know which category will be more packed for me, this one, the RomComs or the Outcasts. Let’s see how it stacks….

Blood Lad : Don’t know if I am sold on the premise, but for a first impression, I’m willing to give the lulz my lulz. Brain’s Base’s involvement is probably what makes me look it’s way.

Choujin Game Neptune : Same people that did Date A Live, a show I had actual high expectations for this Spring, and it kinda let me down. But Fosh says it has some Mondajaii feels to it, and that keeps me for a spell. Besides It looks like I’m already going to be a hardcore Lowee fan. Blanc, Ram, Rom…..I like hand-held games….

Symphogear G : Excalibur reactionface.jpg I’ll take that pat on the back, Fosh. But I don’t think I can take this. I love’s me some Aoi Yuuki, but I’ll just rewatch Madoka or Vampire Bund if I need her VA that much. Actually, keep me up on this one, I’m willing to be surprised.

Gatchaman Crowds : This one has me very interested. It has that weird esper/Acadamy City vibe going on. The character design is good, and it has the brain behind the Tsuritama design, so it’s sure to look all sorts of pretty.

Fantasia Doll : At first, I’m kinda getting VividRed vibes, and that makes me all kinda trepidations. Butt, this one isn’t that obvious. Hmm tarot card magical girl smartphone app. Where can I get one? Who is the carrier? It’s not Alcor is it? But, who am I kidding, the character designs are cute, and it has a goth loli with a teddy bear. I’m in….

Kara no Kyoukai: Well, the Boss Lady has cast a spell, and it looks like it will hook me. I’ve still yet to plow into much of Fate/Zero (four episodes), and I’m giving the Magical Girl outting a try, this one ought to be worth the effort going in. Kyo wouldn’t lead me astray…

Dangaronpa : The Teddy Bear Told Me to do IT! I think I’ve had my fill of Killing Game anime. I’m willing to be surprised thou.

Prism Illya : I’m giving Fantasia Doll a try, and the other Magical Girl as well. How on Earth could I miss this one? This is the Summer Mahou Shojou: Attack on LOLi! Yeah, I’m in.

Makai Ouji : This one has just enough eccentric ideas to get my interest. Now, I didn’t like Arcana Familia that much either, Kara, but I am willing to give this one a shot. It also has some Dantalion vibes; which I wish we could get boatloads more of…

    • Foshizzel says:

Choujin Game Neptune: Yeah a blend of Date A live, Index, Kore wa Zombie and Mondaiji! I love those kinds of shows so I hope Neptune does something interesting~

Symphogear G: I was surprised that Tomokazu was in that cast? Whoa I guess work is work as Kyokai told me and judging from that artwork Ness found I assume those are new characters, but are they good or evil? I hope we have new villains fufufu

Fantasia Doll: Hell ya! I thought THE SAME thing that I felt it was Vividred because of those character designs? I noticed there are a lot of magical girls that use cards and I recommend you try Genei wo Kakeru Taiyo for more magical girls! This season is totally about magical girls…

    • Karakuri says:

I’ll be giving Makai Ouji a shot (or at least for the first impressions) from what I got out of people’s reactions though, it think it goes into BL territory. …Even though people are telling me it’s shounen and it’s only as BL as Karneval ever was. …Yeah, I’ve gotten mixed information. Waiting for the actual anime to see what it actually is.

As for Danganronpa, give it a try! It goes out of it’s way to crush some cliches, which is fun to watch.

      • BlackBriar says:

As for Danganronpa, give it a try! It goes out of it’s way to crush some cliches, which is fun to watch.

I haven’t seen the anime yet but I understand your avatar is promoting it. It must be painful for you to wait until its release, isn’t it?

        • Karakuri says:

Ahaha I’ve been looking forward to it since the announcement in the winter~ my excitement level is pretty high

          • BlackBriar says:

Sometimes I feel it’s better not to know about a show you’re going to like until it actually gets there because the anticipation would be killing you. But on the other hand, if you don’t know, then you won’t have anything to look forward to. Ah, it’s such a paradox.

    • BlackBriar says:

I love’s me some Aoi Yuuki, but I’ll just rewatch Madoka or Vampire Bund if I need her VA that much.

For your Aoi Yuuki indulgence, there’s also Shiki where her character has one of the biggest roles in the series.

      • skylion says:

Just watched the first episode. I enjoyed it. I like the Dracula parallels, with Megumi standing in some measure as Lucy.

I’ve poked around, can you tell me who does the ED?

        • BlackBriar says:

You haven’t seen anything yet. You’ve only had but a taste of the awesomeness that is Shiki. Keep going!!!

The first ED is “Walk no Yakusoku” (walkの約束) by nangi.

          • skylion says:

I’ll watch another episode tonite. I’ve got a block of 400 or so words to write for my night job. It will be a good break.

    • Kyokai says:

@ skylion, Nope, I would not lead you astray ever! xD

      • BlackBriar says:

I need proof that you’ll stay true to your word.

        • skylion says:

Kyo’s word is bond. That’s all I need.

          • BlackBriar says:

So it’s blind faith. Fine by me.

            • Kyokai says:

How long have you guys been following Metanorn? I mean, seriously, I’m a fine woman of my word, lads!

            • BlackBriar says:

Oh, me? Not very long. Just almost three years. I was simply testing your leadership. 😛

    • Namika says:

There can’t ever be enough cruel, dark anime. *-*

      • BlackBriar says:

Shiki, Mirai Nikki, Shinsekai Yori, Fate/Zero, Psycho-Pass, Shingeki no Kyojin.

These are all fine reasons why there can’t ever be enough cruel, dark animes.

      • Gecko says:

For sure! There are many reasons and great examples where cruel, dark anime is great to watch.

      • Highway says:

I gotta stick up for bright and happy anime. There’s already too much cruelty and darkness anywhere.

        Go Positivity!

        • BlackBriar says:

There’s already too much cruelty and darkness anywhere.

Yet most people are pretty comfortable with that in anime. Hmmm… That’s very telling. I guess we’re very sadistic inside.

        • Namika says:

Not that we’re sadistic, it’s just that comedy is much harder to handle in general. That’s why there’s less comedy/slice of life anime that is great in general.

But I still have to say that most of my favorite animes are quite dark and cruel.

          • Highway says:

All of my favorite animes end with love. There are a few I’ve rated highly that are harder to watch (for me), but generally I’m romance and comedy / drama.

  7. Hoshi says:

~LITERALLY SCREAMED BECAUSE OF GENSHIKEN NIDAIME. I DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS COMING OUT THIS SUMMER. I’m so glad I have free time this vacation, uwahh.

Other than that, I’m definitely checking out Dangan Ronpa (because I am absolutely not a gamer and it’s nice to have a whole game’s story line played out for me, hurr), Gatchaman Crowds, Servant x Servant, and Gin no Saji. Stella and Kitakubu I probably will put on the back burner since so far their plot descriptions don’t seem like much.

Of course as a fangirl I have to check out Free!. However, no matter how lulzy this story might become, I’m glad they’re putting out a fanservice anime for us ladies since lately each season seems to be an ecchi fest.

Anyway, I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED FOR SUMMER SEASON~

    • Foshizzel says:

FREE seems to be the perfect series for the summer! I think just about everyone that I know is going to give it a shot xD

      • skylion says:

It will be glorious. No matter what happens, we will be hitting this like it’s hot.

      • BlackBriar says:

I’m not sure I will, though. There needs to be confirmation that it’s living up to its hype.

        • Hoshi says:

~Yeah, I’ve been iffy about the series since it was announced; even more so when I read the plot description because in the end, if the plot isn’t great, I won’t be able to get into it. But KyoAni has pretty enjoyable shows, so I have some faith.

      • Namika says:

There’s not much they can do with Free! to ruin it, because it doesn’t promise to be something spectacular. In terms of plot/character development, stuff like that.
And I’m sure the graphics will be of best quality, too. So I dont really see where can this anime go wrong.

        • Foshizzel says:

There’s not much they can do with Free! to ruin it,

Well that might be true, but for me KyoAni ruins a series by not progressing such things as romance? Sure Hyouka hinted at it and Chu2koi set it up for another season, but Tamako Market ignored it completely? That said FREE is technically tagged as “sports” so the only way they can ruin that is to have only three episodes of them swimming with the rest of the time spent goofing around? I guess anything is possible xD

        • skylion says:

Well, Chihayafuru is a sports anime, and the character development is tops in that show. What I think they will be doing: Two levels of competition, both between team mates and whomever they get to challenge. Character development will compare and contrast in those moments, and in moments outside competition. With this many characters, we are looking at K-ON style of tea/cakes and music, only on the male side. I’m really looking forward to the mix up of that formula…

    • Highway says:

I’ve actually been watching the first season of Genshiken this past week, and it’s pretty entertaining. Looks like the character designs are updated, so that will be a plus, rather than the chunky mid-2000s style it was before.

      • Hoshi says:

~I haven’t actually watched the first season because I read all the manga before I even knew it had an anime, hahaha. Even the manga’s art for this second series is better than its original. The new characters are a tad more interesting as well, but that could be because they’re from my generation and I can relate to them (and their modern anime references) better.

        • Kyokai says:

For reference’s sake. This one is a continuation of previous 2 seasons already released or something of a reboot?

          • Highway says:

What I’ve seen has given me the impression that it’s a loose continuation.

          • Hoshi says:

~I say it’s both a continuation and reboot because most of the original characters have graduated from the university, and thus from the club, but two of the original characters are still there. This second season adds new members to the club, who are freshman at the university. Some of the other original characters make their appearance throughout the story and have their stories continued as well, especially the ones who are still in the club, but it is mostly focused on the new characters.

            • skylion says:

It has a character that does a Shinobu Ohshino cosplay. I’m in.

            • Hoshi says:

~Oh, and by reboot, I mean that the manga series ended in 2006 when the main characters graduated, and in 2010 they decided to do this second series after the author made a sequel chapter.

            • Kyokai says:

Hmm, alright. I’ll keep you guys posted if I like it or not. At least the premise is interesting enough.

  8. BlackBriar says:

It’s that time again. The time where you drown in a heap of new anime and pass judgment on those that are good and drop the unworthy. There’s so much of them this time and most look quite appealing. It’s a good thing my external hard drive is holding out strong.

    Summer Anime List Choices:

    GATCHAMAN Crowds

    Maybe:

    Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist
The World Only God Knows: Goddess Arc
    Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya
    Love Lab
    Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku
    Servant x Service
    Genshiken Nidaime
    Fantasista Doll

Blood Lad: Finally a vampire anime! Now I can breathe easily again. To be honest, I was hoping for something with a more serious story. Well, I’ll watch it anyway because I was already four chapters into the manga. Besides, this is just the beginning of my happiness because I know there are two more vampire animes waiting next season so maybe I’ll get lucky and bump into one with a serious story. Seiyuu Ryota Ohsaka has been getting some inhuman roles this year. First Hataraku Maou-sama’s Sadao and Kakumeiki Valvrave’s Haruto, now it’s Blood Lad’s Staz. I wonder what caused it to go off the radar when it was meant to air Summer last year.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear G: Last season was alright with me so I’m looking forward to this one. The main pleasures are the music, action sequences and seeing the girls fight in their sexy upgraded battle suits. Judging by the ad above, those three girls are the new antagonists.

Kara no Kyokai: Because a certain Death Perception boss lady converted me into a Type-Moon fan with Fate/Zero, I’ll give this a try. Now look at what you’ve done to me!!! LOL

Monogatari Series: Second Season: More Monogatari means more Araragi and therefore more Shinobu. If this blissful happiness is a dream then no one dare wake me up! The best part is that this time it’s a two cour series.

The World Only God Knows: Goddess Arc: How do I manage to keep missing shows like this? Even worse, it’s two whole seasons that have passed me by. I was skeptical at first but since you guys gave the full summary, it’s probably all well and fine. Though the premise sounds very much like the recently completed Date A Live.

    • skylion says:

Because a certain Death Perception boss lady converted me into a Type-Moon fan with Fate/Zero, I’ll give this a try. Now look at what you’ve done to me!!! LOL

We seem to be made to suffer, R2 BB, it’s our lot in life.

      • Kyokai says:

Clearly, you guys are not aware of all my brainwashing methods. Muhawahahahaa. Jokes aside, it would be good for you first-time watchers and I swear I’ll try to hold your hands so that you don’t scream at night, while watching. xP

Also, about Shinobu, she’s Araragi’s shadow and you really think he’ll just let you guys take her away? You guys better get ready for some battle royal~

        • skylion says:

Oh, you to go and point out the fine print….

        • BlackBriar says:

Also, about Shinobu, she’s Araragi’s shadow and you really think he’ll just let you guys take her away? You guys better get ready for some battle royal~

All that is needed in this battle is the will to act. Will is everything.

          • Kyokai says:

Pointing out fine print is my job! xD But yeah, I shall conjure up some popcorns and watch the battle whenever you guys are ready. :3

            • BlackBriar says:

Combat is not a spectator sport, Kyo. People get hurt in these things. 🙂

            • skylion says:

I am always at the ready. It’s too bad my opponent isn’t….

            • BlackBriar says:

If it’s for something worth my interest, I’m always ready.

            • skylion says:

It seems that the final battle will encompass more than just the battlefield itself. In the name of reason and dignity, I will offer to negotiate terms. This will be our final chance before all is doomed.

            • BlackBriar says:

You’ve caught me in a good mood. Speak your terms.

            • skylion says:

I am thinking that since this has taken on a life of it’s own that stating terms in the midst of so many comments, the needs would be lost.

Let us think with cool heads, yet passionate hearts, and perhaps savour the negotiations as another form…..

    • skylion says:

      therefore more Shinobu

We shall meet at dawn, good sir. I trust we will not need seconds?

      • BlackBriar says:

Yes, we shall meet on the battlefield. This divine battle shall determine which of us is worthy of her. And then when it is done and Shinobu is rightfully within my grasp, then you have my permission to cry. 😛

        • skylion says:

The only tears shed in the final epic moments, will be ones of a very happy Shinbu as she will, at long last, be with her most worthy of suitors, the Skylion.

And there shall be naught left on the field of battle but ashes, and ashes have no tears.

    • Sumairii says:

TWGOK is only superficially similar to DAL. If you’ve not seen the first two seasons, it might do you well to watch them first. They help introduce the “mechanics” of the franchise, and should be comparatively lighter on the plot side.

      • BlackBriar says:

Seems like too much backlog for me right now. I’ll just go on a little faith it as it is like I did with Minami-ke Tadaima which was a first for me even though I knew it was its fourth season.

      • Highway says:

I do hope that this story for TWGOK is a bit more engaging. When I watched the first two series, I felt they just didn’t measure up to a lot of the other shows I was watching. I actually disliked the way they handled the girls after the spirits were captured, which is one of the reasons I liked the way DAL dealt with it. I’m told this arc is a bit different, tho, so we’ll see how it goes.

        • skylion says:

Yeah, you picked on what I wanted to say. Selective amnesia is sooooo convenient…

          • BlackBriar says:

It’s about minding your surroundings. If it’s convenient, it shouldn’t be that bad.

        • Karakuri says:

Yeah, this arc should actually involve the previous girls a bit more instead of throwing them behind for new ones.

          • skylion says:

Oh, good. I was feeling very bad that they just got tossed aside.

  9. skylion says:

    RomComSlice

Yeah, this one is pretty much my bag these days.

Servant x Service : I enjoyed my visits to Wagneria, and would love to go back again, but taking a tour of this office space sounds like fun. I don’t think there will be sword wielding data entry personnel, nor will there be a minicon, but It looks like it will have it’s share of quirky.

Monogatari S2 : Oh, yeah, the Big One, the most highly anticipated show in most of our line ups. Shaft will not fail to deliver, they’ve got to much attention on them to drop the ball. I have to admit, I am most looking forward to Kabukimonogatari, or Mayoi Jiangshi. I’ve already read most of the translations available, and am more than a little spoiled about the ending….but, I am anxious to see how the anime is handled. I am even more anxious to hear Maaya Sakamoto extend Shinobu’s range, and am hoping for her to sing the OP. I mean why would they not let her? Oh, BlackBriar, you and I are going to be going round and round when this arc comes a callin’.

The other stories also promise to have plenty of meaty exchanges as well. I am also looking forward to Sengoku Medusa.

Kiniro Mosaic : I loved A-Channel, so seeing this studio get back into that slice of life groove pleases me greatly. I’m looking forward to all the SoL series this summer, but I think this one tops my list. I know what to expect with Tamayura, and love that show to pieces, but this new cast of characters should have some surprises in store.

Gin no Saji/ Silver Spoon : I wasn’t a big fan of FMA. Got in to late, didn’t feel like catching up. But I understand it’s power, and the type of story it told. But to see the writer go from that, to this has me all kinds of curious. That is pretty much the drawing force, plus I do love a fish out of water story.

Love Lab: More Yuru Yuri style hijinks? Mark my calendar….

TWGOK: Goddess Arc : I’m catching up now, well into S2, and looking forward to this story, for all the obvious reasons.

Kimi no Iru Machi : I’m getting Say I Love You vibes from this. I’m in.

Geshikan Nidaime: I’ve not seen the first two, but the premise sound to cool to pass up.

Watamote: I’m not sure about this, I like the concept, but as Sumairii says, the jokes can get stale. I hope Silver Link gives a good showing, cause part of me wants to like it.

Tamayura. This Summer, Attack on Takehara! When mysterious Titans lay siege to a small island in the Seto Inland Sea, they get more than they bargained for. Watch as Fuu, Kaoru, Norie, and Mao get MORE AGRESSIVE.

    AMV that, internet punks.

    • BlackBriar says:

Oh, BlackBriar, you and I are going to be going round and round when this arc comes a callin’.

It’s going to be civil war. Six months of it and I’m ready for the long haul. Show me what ya got!! 😛

      • skylion says:

Two things I promise you. A speedy defeat, and that you will never see it coming….

        • BlackBriar says:

Oh, I fail to see that happening. Here’s some advice: Sleep with one eye open.

    • Highway says:

Yeah, I was going through saying what shows I was interested in blogging and realized that I’d want to review them all, except for Kimi no Iru Machi, I wouldn’t touch that with a 10-foot pole. I had to keep the number down, tho.

Geshikan Nidaime: I’ve not seen the first two, but the premise sound to cool to pass up.

I’m in the middle of the first series, and it’s not bad, it’s definitely a more adult series (set in college rather than HS). I don’t know if I’ll finish both previous series before this one, but as I said below, the art certainly looks better for this one.

    • Namika says:

Wow. Hearing that someone didn’t like FMA is really weird to me 😀 not judging or whatever, but it’s kinda strange, because literally everyone whom I know watched this anime, love it. Including half of my friends and my mom o-o

      • BlackBriar says:

Just reading that makes me wonder if it’s possible to put those words together in a sentence like that. I didn’t watch all the episodes but I loved the anime without a problem and did everything in my power to stay awake Saturday nights so I could watch it on Toonami. And speaking of Toonami, I understand the english dub for Sword Art Online is set to start in August.

        • skylion says:

Didn’t care for does not equal dislike. Given the time I had, the outlay of episodes, movies and whatnot, and other things that took up time that interested me, I gave it a pass.

I think the characters, design, sensibilities, and such were all perfectly fine. I just didn’t feel like climbing that hill. Maybe one day, maybe not.

          • Namika says:

Hope that one day you will 😉 It’s definitely worth watching to the end, because it builds up beautifully. Both the original, and Brotherhood. Though Brotherhood is less dark and more straightforward shounen.

          • Highway says:

Skylion’s reasons are exactly why I’ve never really bothered to try to get into FMA. I said before that I watched the first arc in dubs, and from that I just didn’t get pulled in. It wasn’t cause of the dubs, it was cause the setup just didn’t seem that interesting to me. So there’s an awful lot of backlog there that I’d have to go through to catch up to something that I just didn’t find that interesting.

I also have the same issue with Gurren Lagann.

            • skylion says:

Yes, both of those shows had all the bits that interest me, but it seemed the set up just didn’t gel with me at the time.

As it is, thanks for the clues, I can skip Brotherhood, cause this seems like a show that needs darkness. Alchemy looked to be serious business and all. And I find I have no stomach for straight shounen.

            • Highway says:

What, you’re not watching Mushibugyou? That show’s not just shounen, it’s SHOUUUUUUUUUNENNNNNNNNN!!!!! But it’s pretty enjoyable.

            • skylion says:

First episode just didn’t feel all the smooove.

            • BlackBriar says:

Wait, you’re not watching Mushibugyou?! Blasphemy!!! The anime is awesome! It just takes a little patience to get to the good parts and it really got good with episodes 10 and 11. Even better for those actually watching, it’s a 26 episode series.

            • skylion says:

::sigh:: What am I too do? ::pokes around web for episodes::

            • Namika says:

Hmmmm. That’s quite an interesting point of view. Depends on which one you saw, but storylines in both of them, the original and brotherhood, develop a little later. The whole show isn’t just about Ed and Al running around, chasing the Philosopher’s stone, it’s much, much more than that. It’s like the issue I had with Soul Eater. But after about 6-7 episodes the plot takes a completely different route from what I expected, and thank god I watched it, because I loved this anime to bits. So don’t judge by first several episodes.

            • skylion says:

Oddly, I was on board with Soul Eater from the first episode….

            • skylion says:

Alright. I gave the show the three episode test for realz. the Killer of 99 saved it. I’m in. So that means, if ireneshada can convince me on Brother’s Conflict, I will be in tune with about 32 shows……

And I already have so much work projected in the next four months….

            • BlackBriar says:

Yes! We have another one in bondage! See? And you were about to miss out on an awesome series.

            • skylion says:

              Well, you can blame HWY.

            • Highway says:

I talk of positivity, NOBODY outdoes Jinbei for positivity.

            • BlackBriar says:

As expected of a shounen protagonist. Always, if almost annoyingly optimistic.

      • d-LaN says:

You should go to the FMA manga review comment section of ANN. Apparently ppl disliked FMA now.

  10. kiraboshi says:

    Free- oh ma gawd

Got a huge list to check out, but must-watches are: Monogatari (Arararagi-kun), High School DXD (first season was much better than I had expected), and Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (one of my favorite mangas).

I still have to play Hyperdimension Neptunia (got it for shits and giggles, and it was on sale) and Danganronpa (the English patch came out yesterday!!! must play before watch).

    • skylion says:

Oh, let us know how the Neptunia game play turns out. Team Low(l)ee for the Win!

    • Kyokai says:

Now I fear the Free hype-machine… Let’s hope, it doesn’t crash and burn.

  11. skylion says:

Spammy, you have to need some Tums right about now….

    • BlackBriar says:

No, no, no. With so many comments coming in, he’s going to need some Pepto Bismol.

      • skylion says:

Ah, you would be referring to the great disaster that struck Hinamizawa, the townsfolk being torn over building a reservoir of stomach relief for Spammy.

        • skylion says:

BTW, my outcasts comment is still missing.

          • Kyokai says:

Seems like our spammy has digested your comment and none of the savers can get a track of it. I hope you saved it somewhere… ><

            • skylion says:

I was winging it. I will recreate it later today.

            • BlackBriar says:

That’s one of his most sinister traits. Because of that, I’ve learned to write out my comments before posting them.

            • Kyokai says:

I’ll give it a good beating for this misdemeanor. I shall avenge thee!

            • Namika says:

              Spammy sure went wild o-o
Go, Kyokai-san! 😀 avenge all of us!

            • Kyokai says:

I swear it’s gone CRAZY with roars and shaking the bars since the Spring post was published. I have him on a double-leash now. ><

            • BlackBriar says:

You’re forgetting the double leash and muzzle combo. Never leave home without it.

  12. Liza says:

So many shows coming out! My to-watch list is huge this time compared to spring. >_> 26 going to watch plus 3 continuation from last season.

And so many sequels to stuff I liked! 😀 Hakkeden, Symphogear(despite the pacing and everything else wrong with it it was still amusing), Tamayura, Rozen Maiden…

And of course can’t wait for FREE! 😀 Already know a bunch of friends and I are going to “discussing” the first episode after it comes out.

Also can’t wait for Danganronpa so I can finally really know what the actual story of it is(and probably end up cosplaying from it…-_-)

    • Foshizzel says:

Excellent choices! I have no idea about Danganronpa, but I will check it out because it looks interesting and of course I will be watching FREE xD

    • Kyokai says:

Seems like you are going to have a very BUSY summaah~

    • Namika says:

      Wow, that’s a lot of anime! 😀

One of the first things I look forward to this summer is watching Free with my friends and discussing it. <3

      • Liza says:

It will be some very intense and deep discussion, that is for sure. XD

        • Namika says:

          Oh yeah, very deep xDDDDD

I would have to change the word discussing’ with ‘fangirling’. That would be more accurate 😀

  13. belatkuro says:

Hold the phone. I didn’t know that Kara no Kyoukai was getting a TV rebroadcast. And to that I say: FUCK YEAH!!
While it’s sad that movie 5 and 6 won’t be included, it’s still good enough to see the other 5 movies. And more Shiki and Touko. You can bet I’ll be following this.
Not to mention we have Fate/Kaleid as well. I’ve reread the first series and I’m really looking forward to seeing those fights animated. I liked what I saw in the PVs so I’m hopeful it will deliver. Though Shirou’s hair still bothers me and this series will most likely get some punishment from secondaries, Frodos and TM haters, I say bring it. Kinda feels good to be a TM fan.
    >mfw Saber Alter got animated before HF
    OTL

As for the rest of the Summer season, as usual I will be picking up a lot of shows just because I can.
The shows I’m looking forward to are DxD New, Monogatari, TWGOK3, Gin no Saji:Silver Spoon and Kimi no Rage Machi.
Other shows I’ll be watching are:
    Uchoten Kazoku
    Blood Lad
Recorder to Randoseru Mi(watched the first 2 season so why not)
    Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou
Watamote(hopefully SL balances the budget between this and Illya, or better yet put all the budget in Illya hurr)
    Senyuu s2
Free! (yes, I’ll be watching this, though I’ll probably rip my eyeballs out later on)
    Danganronpa
    Symphogear(more QUALITY!)
    Servant x Service
    Choujigen Game Neptune The Animation
    GATCHAMAN Crowds
    Kami-sama no Inai Nichiyoubi

I’m still debating on whether I would watch Fantasista Doll, C3-bu and Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou but we’ll see.

Summer might be said to be a weak season but this lineup seems to be very good. While at first glance some might say it’s just the same shit, there’s actually some variety in it if you look closely. I’m expecting some shows to meet or exceed my expectations and hopefully not get disappointed at some.

    >mfw 20 + 3 shows that I’ll be picking up
    Please kill me now OTL

    • skylion says:

Kill you? Oh, no. You must suffer the death of a 1000 anime cuts, just like the rest of us…

    • BlackBriar says:

Request denied. We will not allow you to have an easy way out. You will stand like a true anime fan and endure the bombardment of these series until their end. We’re all in this together and deserters will not be tolerated.

    • Kyokai says:

I’m not happy about skipping movie five as it’s my favourite after seventh but again, think about its wackiness and no way it could fit under episode lengths. I’ll suggest new fans to go watch it later anyways.

      >mfw Saber Alter got animated before HF
      OTL

Aaagh, I know what you mean! Sadness!

  14. berrish17 says:

Hakuouki Kyoto Ranbu, Gintama, AnoHana movie?!
    Other interesting animes too 🙂

    Must watchhhhh <3

    • BlackBriar says:

Don’t forget that Ryota Ohsaka also plays Kakumeiki Valvrave’s Haruto.

    • Kyokai says:

No worries, we’ll keep you covered with our first impressions on stuff to watch and stuff to drop. xD

  16. skylion says:

I am slated to watch 30 programs this year. I watched/followed 15 in 2012. What have you done to me, anime? What have you done!?

    • skylion says:

I am slated to watch 30 this season. Not this year.

      • Namika says:

        Whoa, that’s a lot *_*
Seeing your dedication, makes me feel terrible o-o

        • BlackBriar says:

Each at their own pace. You must first learn to walk before you can run. LOL

          • Namika says:

No learning involved here. Mostly just excess bitching, cuz it doesn’t take me a lot to drop a show. >.>

            • BlackBriar says:

I dropped that crappy show Inaba or whatever it’s called after the second episode.

            • Highway says:

You watched two episodes of Cuticle Detective Inaba? I stopped watching 10 minutes into the first episode…

            • BlackBriar says:

Remember: I’m the guy who survived the entire run of Shining Hearts. I’m durable to a certain degree.

            • Namika says:

Good thing I didn’t pick up that show then 😀

            • Highway says:

Hey, I survived Shiny Bread, too. I didn’t even fall asleep during it.

    • BlackBriar says:

It’s making you more dedicated. That’s what it’s doing.

      • skylion says:

Spring was a bit of a let down for me. This season appears to be stronger, plus there is about twice the output this year as opposed to last year. Like I am going to complain about more cool stuff to watch!

        • Kyokai says:

You’ll be complaining about less time but ah well, all for entertainment!

          • skylion says:

My work week, on average of about 55-65 hours, is tilted away from Monday, my only true day off. The last two or three seasons have seen Mondays to be rather light. So whatever I don’t hit on the weekend I can pick up then. If there isn’t something that I have to have to have to watch when it becomes available, Monogatari is about the only thing that fits the bill right now.

    • Highway says:

I would guess that it’s more that you’re involved in a community like this one. I know that being part of this community encourages me to watch more shows, because I *hate* being left out of the conversation, especially if other people are having fun with it.

I won’t even bother to put a number on what I’m watching until all the first episodes are aired, maybe even 2 or 3 each.

      • skylion says:

        +1

      • BlackBriar says:

That’s how I felt the more I got involved with this site. Everyone has something interesting to talk about each show and I want to get into action and share my thoughts. So gradually, I begin to take on more and more animes and find myself enjoying it along the way. And with so many interesting shows coming out at once and I didn’t want to drop the axe on any of them, I decided to buy an external hard drive to store them. That way, I can go back on anything I want whenever I want without having to wait on any buffering from an anime site.

        • skylion says:

          You hear that MetaTeam?

          • Kyokai says:

I like you guys even more now <3

            • BlackBriar says:

              Happy to oblige, boss lady.

            • skylion says:

We are kinda awesome like that. Well I am..;-p

            • BlackBriar says:

Hey! I will not tolerate any glory hogging! 😛

            • skylion says:

Glory naturally falls to me, I know I know, such a curse to live with…

            • BlackBriar says:

I’m more than happy to break that curse.

            • skylion says:

Not all the powers in Heaven, nor shall the powers of Hell be on thy side. I shall bear this curse alone.

    • Liza says:

All hail us who watch many, many shows. XD

  17. skylion says:

Good night folks. I celebrate today, the 42 anniversary of my birth with good friends and with good conversation.

    Kampaii!

BB, you know what you need to gift wrap for me….

    • skylion says:

Bugger, I’m five minutes off. June 25th.

    • BlackBriar says:

Oh, sorry. I’m recently fresh out of blonde haired loli vampires. Maybe next year. This was too short notice. 😛

By the way, congratulations on your birthday!!

    • Karakuri says:

      Happy birthday~!

    • Highway says:

      Happy Birthday, young’in. 😉

      *From the guy who’s 3 months older…*

    • d-LaN says:

Happy Bday, skylion. Do you want a Horsebird ASM YOUR MATE? :p

    • Sumairii says:

Happy birthday, friend! I’ll let you know if I see any lolis I can send your way.

    • Kyokai says:

      Happy Birthday, skylion!

Hopefully, your days are brighter with all the motherfoshing shenanigans that you are up to with our community. Cheers~

    • Tofu says:

      Happy Birthday Skylion 😉

    • skylion says:

Thank you for the Birthday wishes, folks.

    • anaaga says:

It’s already the 27th in my place, but I guess it’s still the 26th over there, so happy birthday!
I already wrapped BB and sent it to your house, so have your way with him

      • BlackBriar says:

Eh? I don’t recall ever being gift wrapped. There must be another BB out there. Well, as long as it’s him and not me.

        • Tofu says:

“That is correct Onii-sama as BB is already within Skylion’s house says BB with a slight smirk on his face”

          • Tofu says:

“But please excuse me now as BB needs to head to his scheduled meeting which he is 27 seconds late says BB while hurrying off”

“Goodbye Onii-sama says BB with a slightly raised hand”

            • skylion says:

Blackbriar Noise! FTW. LOLOLOLOLOL. Thanks, Tofu, that was a great birthday present.

            • BlackBriar says:

“Blackbriar Noise!” Why does that sound like a Pokémon attack?

            • skylion says:

That is a great attack name. Of course, Skylion Descends is much much better….

        • d-LaN says:

          This one?

        • skylion says:

Oh, Look there is a BB at my doorstep. Oh, I just saw a recent episode of Henneko. ::dresses BB in little girl clothes:: Oh, so precious.

We can invite HWY. It’ll be a sleepover. We can pillowfight@

Blame this on the bottle of 2010 Pinot Grigio.

Anaaga? You can thank me later…

          • BlackBriar says:

Dude!!! This is equivilant to suicide bombing!!! Don’t drag me down with you!! 😛

            • skylion says:

::keke:: Enjoy the plummet. By hook or by crook. By hook or by crook I will have my LOLi’s.

            • BlackBriar says:

Your plan might backfire. If I go down, those lolis are riding shotgun.

            • skylion says:

Oh, you fear the backfire! I call upon the Powers of the MetaNorn Fujoshi Team.

            • BlackBriar says:

While you do that, I’ll be placing land mines in the meantime.

    • Gecko says:

      Congrats!

  18. Soliia says:

Hello, hello! Amutofan123 here, but I’m trying out new usernames and stuff for… reasons. Anyway, I will now talk about stuff relevant to this lovely post:

I kind of skipped out on spring anime because of dealing with classes and getting ready for graduation and college, but now that I am (mostly) stress-free, I can watch some summer stuff! First things first, I’m gonna catch up on Titan. As for new shows….

-Blood Lad looks like fun and plus it’s Brains Base, which generally means an automatic watch from me.
-I am also highly anticipating Gatchaman Crowds. The only work by Kenji Nakamura that I’ve watched was Tsuritama, but that ended up being my favorite anime of 2012, so of course I’ll give this a shot.
-Definitely watching Danganronpa. It’s been all over my tumblr dash for a long time now and it seems like everyone has fun with it.
-Ugh, I wanna watch Monogatari Series S2, but I never finished Nisemonogatari. Guess I better hurry and finish that up.
    -Will watch Gin no Saji.
-I dunno about Brothers Conflict. I’m not really fond of reverse harems, but I guess checking out a couple of episodes won’t hurt.
-I’ve heard a lot of stuff about Kimi no Iru Machi… and it makes me curious, so I’ll watch it.
    -Gonna check out Watamote.
-More Tamayura~ This show never fails to make me feel fluffy and warm and happy!
-There is no way I’m not watching Free! I just… ahhhh! I’m so happy! It’s so refreshing to see Kyoani do a show that isn’t about moe moe cute girls (although I have enjoyed a fair share of those).
-Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou has me… intrigued. I don’t really know what I’m expecting, but I’ll give it a shot.
-P.A. Works + creator of Tatami Galaxy + Koji Kumeta’s character designs means that Uchouten Kazoku is a must watch for me!
-Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi sounds really interesting and looks great.
-So, this Rozen Maiden is going to be a remake, then? If it is, then I’ll watch, but I wasn’t really sure.
-This new Corpse Party OVA looks like it’ll be following the game, so hell yeah, I’m gonna watch it!
-I’ll also watch the OVA for Little Busters, Kamisama Kiss, and Say I Love You.
-And also the Ano Hana movie and new Miyazaki movie!

So that’s 13 anime I’m picking up. I’ll probably end up dropping most of them, but still. I’m really looking forward to a lot of these series, especially Free. Seems like a pretty nice summer, in comparison to past summers, at least.

Hey Amutofan! Good to see you back! ^^ No worries as RL has to take lead sometimes and I hope your days remain stress-free!

Coming to your nice list, you definitely should try out Monogatari series, this is after all Shaft’s crowning jewel. I wasn’t aware of Uchouten being written by the same guy who penned Tatami Galaxy but that alone makes me pumped for it.

    • Tofu says:

Amuto~! x3 I like the new name btw~ It sounds so cuute! *ahem* I mean, yeah… it’s a good name, stick with it 🙂

    • Namika says:

      Hey, Amutofan ^_^
No worries on skipping, cuz I skipped a total of a year and a half, because at first I fell into the stone age without a computer, and then graduation and college. So, one season is ok ^^”

The list is good. Blood Lad was the first thing that just jumped into my arms, when I was checking out the releases list. It looks really wacky and fun. Plus Brains Base, yes.
When I read the announcement of Silver Spoon on ANN it was like ‘a wild Hiromu Arakawa anime appeared!’ Glorious. *~*

I skipped 2007 to early 2011, and was only mildly interested in the early part of the century. But where I am right now, is the best stuff I have probably watched. And I was a child when Star Blazers hit US syndication back in the 70s.

  19. Miyu says:

Gosh even though I won’t be blogging this season, I’ll probably have a /lot/ of catching up to do with so many good series coming out this season after my bloody exams.

Let’s not even talk about how I’m excited for Free! and cute boys. Definitely continuing with Hakkenden, probably trying out Rozen Maiden. Oh, and Kara no Kyokai, coz I wanna see what made Kyo fall in love with the series so much xD

And yes, I’m still looking forward to Brothers’ Conflict even after traumatic Amnesia, um. Why do I do this to myself. Kimi no iru machi looks just like the thing for a shoujo lover like meeee (although if they don’t get together in the end I might actually die of feels).

AND and and, this is important information: Soraru will be making a breakthrough into the anime sphere for the first time with Dangan Ronpa’s ED!!!!!! I’m so happy I could cry. The anime itself is already super intriguing with its premise, but aaaaaah!!! SORARU!!!! ANIME!!!!! ugh too many feels.

    • d-LaN says:

Judging by your comment, is Soraru song good? Some examples?

To be fair, AMNESIA is ady a lot better than Arcana Famiglia and it can’t be that hard to top them if the production team tries.

    • Karakuri says:

I was super excited when I saw the sample of Soraru’s Zetsubou-sei: Hero Chiryouyaku on twitter!!! Ahaha you got me into him with that Utaite post.

      • Miyu says:

IKR! /faints haha the title is pretty weird though the song itself sounds really good. It’s also composed by Suzumu (Voca-P/remixer dude) so this is really one of those original works completely made by people from the vocaloidosphere!!! c: *happy*

Yay haha my plan of making the entire Metanorn into Soraru fans is working, one person at a time >D He is really my favorite utaite of all time so I was literally like tearing up in front my screen like a proud momma HAHA yaaaaaay

        • BlackBriar says:

Yay haha my plan of making the entire Metanorn into Soraru fans is working, one person at a time

Is there anyone who isn’t scheming to create their own special clan on this site and attract followers? Metanorn is like it’s never short of conspiracies. 😛

        • Gecko says:

Well, I’m already a Soraru fan, so your plan is ahead another step!

    • Kyokai says:

Oh, and Kara no Kyokai, coz I wanna see what made Kyo fall in love with the series so much xD

Gurl~ it’s not going to be the full package but hopefully, it’s going to be amazing nonetheless. 😀

Now, I’ll go check out Soraru, seems like it would be awesome.

  20. amado says:

take it from me guys, prismatic illya is going to be a blast.

wanna know how good it is? the manga’s already on its 2nd sequel, meaning there’s around 3 seasons to be expected.
I read it and it gives proper homage and respect to its original.

heck if you want a really good reason: Show ▼

    • belatkuro says:

Sources say it’s only 10 episodes which is enough for just the first series. So we’ll see Show ▼

      but not Show ▼

      • amado says:

        Show ▼

yeah ive heard of that, even if it was 12 its unlikely we’ll get to see her til next season, which is likely I think.

        • Kyokai says:

Aaaaah! You guys are really making me excited as I haven’t checked out the manga because this was coming out.
