Vividred Operation – lvlln, as I mentioned previously to you, I felt the same way about the episode; I started out then back in, out and then finished back in. The tomatoes thing was pretty dumb; mothers have to cry over the loss of their sons because some teenager thought her entire friendship with a girl was based on a fruit, and that saying she didn’t like it would be the end of them.

That picture with the docking, had the end result been the picture in this post, I admit I might’ve been like, “damn, Aoi x Akane is sexy as all hell!” and just in love with her. But then it finishes and the docking result looks just alright; still hot though.

    • Foshizzel says:

Aoi x Akane is very sexy! I bet there are episodes with them stuck in that form or something…I like the idea of combining magical girls! I never would have thought of that..

      • BlackBriar says:

They’ve broken new ground with this idea. Does anyone support the idea of having all the characters fuse together? Imagine the kind of weapons that one being would have.

  2. Highway says:

Senran Kagura: It really feels like a shame that Asuka is the main character. Everyone else feels a lot more interesting, and Asuka just kind of bounces from thing to thing, not really being good at anything.

I gotta say that I could also do with a little less deep-throating of sushi rolls. But other than that, watching the boob ninjas is fun.

    • Foshizzel says:

I am with you there Highway! If only we had a different main character, but I consider all the ninja girls to be “main characters” anyway xD

Ahahah those moments make me laugh <3

    • BlackBriar says:

It feels like that now but Asuka is obviously the underdog type of character so I’m sure she’ll surprise us later on.

  3. Highway says:

Vividred Operation: I thought this episode kind of fell down a little, but not really because of the flashback. It feels really kind of plain. And I didn’t get how Akane and Aoi merged into Vivid Blue, but Akane was still in control? Is Akane going to be in control all the time, no matter what color they merge into (cause you know they’re going to with Wakaba and Himawari).

Rei’s (no, she hasn’t been introduced in the show, but I looked it up) actions are puzzling, and I’m sure we’ll get an explanation eventually for why the Black Ranger… I mean, Rei wants to stop the Engine. It was pretty interesting that she could power the Alone back up to a higher state than it had before.

    • lvlln says:

Yeah, the Docking system raises a lot of questions that I’m excited to see the answers to. Indeed, is it always Akane, or will other girls take control at appropriate times? Whose color gets used, especially if more than 2 are allowed? It’s crazy enough to work, even more out there than Strike Witches‘s Striker Units. And with Rei I hope this means we have some magical girl on magical girl dog fighting ahead of us.

  4. Highway says:

Sakurasou: I’m still a huge Nanami fan, and thought that everything she did in this episode was pretty classy. When Sorata runs out on their not-really-a-date to find Mashiro, she comes along and ends up supporting him, and not embarrassing him by saying how long she’s actually been there. You get the feeling that she’s not giving up, but that maybe she’s starting to feel like she’s losing.

Sorata still doesn’t get Mashiro, and it’s really frustrating that he can’t make that leap from admiring Mashiro as an artist and a creator and only loving that side of her to loving the rest of her, quirks and faults and all. She still can’t tell him what she feels, and he can’t face what he feels.

And Misaki, such a poor dear. Putting everything on the line to try to convince Jin to love her, finding out that he does love her, and then crushed that, for reasons she just can’t fathom, it’s not enough.

    • Karakuri says:

Nanami is the classiest of them all. Seeing him hug Mashiro and saying that he loves her work right in front of Nanami certainly felt like a ‘losing’ moment though. I really, really hope she finds happiness at the end of this somewhere. I’d even go as far to say that she’s too good for Sorata. Really, that guy needs to figure himself out.

The two are definitely stuck in their relationship and I don’t know how the plot will even begin to sort that out. I guess we’ll see.

I understand both points of view between Misaki and Jin, so this conflict is a tough one. However, I think it will be okay if they ever manage to talk it out. Or maybe the long distance (assuming Jin goes to that far away school) will help them somehow. Being on this show is suffering. Unless you’re Ryuunosuke and Rita, who seem to be doing okay.

      • Highway says:

I don’t know how much Ryuunosuke is actually comfortable with Rita yet. She pushes him, and he’s still really hesitant. When Meido-chan was arguing with Rita, he wasn’t stopping Meido-chan, just standing back not sure what to do.

        • BlackBriar says:

The comfort is slowly setting in at the fact he’s even accepting a web cam conversation window of her on his computer and hasn’t canceled it even though Meido is in the way.

        • Karakuri says:

By ‘okay’, I mean not having the same amount of sheer angst and drama between their characters. At least neither is taking their frustrations out on each other nearly as much as Sorata is. It’s still far from what I’d consider a healthy relationship, but it’s better than what everyone else has.

  5. BlackBriar says:

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha – 02: It doesn’t sound like a bad idea having this on MetaFap. There are definitely some fanservice moments that warrant it.

This is some speedy romance between Maou and Yuusha. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a relationship develop so quickly especially when it’s between two people that should be mortal enemies trying to kill each other and win victory for their side. Even more surprising, Yuusha is dodging all the typical shounen moves being around Maou like willingly sitting next to her, resting on her lap without a fuss and obliging her when she’s coming in to kiss him. 100 points to you, sir!!

They accepted their contract so easily, saying that they belong to each other as if they are personal possessions (Maou calling Yuusha her owner) and let the other freely have their way with them however is seen fit that it’s hard not to ask if they aren’t masochistic.

    • Foshizzel says:

YES! I have to give Anaaga credit she brought up the idea of having Maoyuu Maou Yuusha on MetaFap xD

Hmmm I kind of noticed that two with the whole quick relationship between Yuusha and Maou, but I guess we could almost say the same thing about Kotoura-san’s Haruka and Manabe? LOL DAT KISS ruined by damn horses T____T

      LOL yeah that is true…

      • BlackBriar says:

The credit is well deserved. You should thank her soon.

Though the relationship build up was rather quick, it looks really stable to me. Usually they fall horribly apart at a pace like this.

After seeing that display, I won’t be surprised if they suddenly get into S&M.

  6. BlackBriar says:

Senran Kagura – 02: It’s easy to have fun with an ecchi series this lively. I’m beginning to think Katsuragi is the opposite of Railgun’s Saten. Saten always flips Uiharu’s skirt, Katsuragi’s always fondling some random girl’s rack.

One series that definitely belongs in the MetaFap is Senran Kagura!

That’s an understatement in the mildest of ways. Look at the perversion between the girls and their enemies along with the way they eat sushi rolls. It’s touching the very root of hentai territory.

Her bringing out a frog sounds very much like Naruto and her encounters with regular frogs and learning her bloodline specializes in their use serves as a prelude to the summoning. Hahaha, I wonder if she’ll have a Sage Mode as well. Speaking of Naruto, I got to start watching Shippuden again. I heard episode 296 is when he joins the fight in the ninja war.

Ai Kayano is getting into villainess roles with Yomi as she did with Guilty Crown’s Mana.

    • Foshizzel says:

Katsuragi is the best ninja! Maybe she could be Saten’s older sister type? She had to learn that skill from someone ahahah

Yep p much skating that thin line of H material and Ecchi xD

OH GOD if Asuka has a frog sage mode I will probably loose my mind and die from laughing way to hard…damn…

EVIL Ai Kayano is the best kind of evil character <3

  7. BlackBriar says:

Vividred Operation – 02: Fu.. sion HA!! by forehead kissing. Definitely didn’t expect it in this kind of series but their fused being is hot and mature looking. I can get comfortable watching this without a problem.

How big of a pervert is Dr. Isshiki that he feels the need to give attacks “Naked” names, and initiate “Docking” by kissing?

He fits the “dirty old man” stereotype and we failed to notice that in one glance when he was first introduce. We got blindsided by the “brilliant scientist who sees an iminent disaster” persona. He fell from grace for me when he didn’t explain right away that Aoi had to kiss Akane on the forehead and Akane, clueless as she seems to be, was about to kiss Aoi on the lips. His new weasel body seems to fit his personality, though.

Their armor and weaponry will definitely attract mecha fans like Fosh hook, line and sinker. It’s a combination of Iron Man meets Infinte Stratos.

As for the mysterious girl who manipulated that previously off line Alone into a monstrous evolved form of itself and why would someone want to introduce war to this Utopian world. I’m guessing she’s part of a shadow organization that created them or has plans to use them for their own ends.

    • lvlln says:

The mecha magical girl designs, especially the combined form, reminded me a little bit of Nono from Diebuster, another sort of magical girl show that shared a lot of the same staff as Strike Witches 2. I haven’t checked the staff listing for Vividred, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the same folks there, which would be a very good thing.

      • BlackBriar says:

Sadly, they don’t have the same staff even though the themes are similar. Strike Witches was produced by Gonzo, FUNimation Entertainment while Vividred Operation is by Aniplex, A-1 Pictures.

        • lvlln says:

Each of the series has had a different production studio – indeed, even the 2 Strike Witches seasons were produced by different studios because Gonzo was gone in 2010, and AIC took over S2. But they’ve also kept the same core staff, such as the director/character designer as well as plenty of artists. A lot of these folks came from Gainax and cut their teeth on works like Tsurumaki’s FLCL or Diebuster. For Vividred Operation, given the Strike Witches staff connection and the fact that A-1 has a Gainax connection, I’d suspect many of the same animators are on staff. But last I checked, Anime News Network didn’t have the staff list up.

    • skylion says:

      Dirty old men are awesome!

  8. BlackBriar says:

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – 14: It’s Christmas time for the Sakurasou gang and relationship get complicated. The season setting feels so out of place with ours right now but easy to overlook with all the drama.

Every episode now, I’m sensing this is going to have a Ano Natsu de Matteru ending with Nanami getting the short end of the stick in this love triangle between her, Sorata and Mashiro. The fact she hasn’t even started expressing her feeling only adds to her detriment. Hopefully for her sake that if she doesn’t get chosen, they’ll be someone like Sorata for her.

Still, Sorata no baka, why are you so dense? He should have been able to read Mashiro’s situation without Chihiro having to explain everything. They spend enough time around each other so he should have looked past his own problems and noticed something. At least they’ve begun to get things on track with the fountain scene but he still needs some form of beating.

Finally, Ryuunosuke is beginning to cave in to Rita’s charms. If only that AI maid wasn’t in the way. Hiding away from his computer, he’s probably embarrased that he’s contradicting himself by letting her in at all and doesn’t know what to say.

What I think is that Jin is ashamed of himself for going out with other girls even though loves Misaki and thinks she deserves better. So, he might be trying to atone for what he did starting by breaking up with his mistresses and straightening himself out before he feels worthy to be with her.

  9. Highway says:

Maoyuu: I’m really enjoying this series, and like that they at least give thoughts to pros and cons.

I really don’t think there are problems with the relationship between Maou and Yuusha, with its speed or intensity or anything. Once Maou convinced Yuusha that killing the Demon King won’t do anything to stop the war (and it wouldn’t), the ‘mortal enemies’ things evaporates. I like that while Yuusha’s cast as kind of a one-trick pony – a great fighter – he isn’t a meathead who looks at everything as if the only tool he has is a sword, so stab or slash it. He also has a highly developed moral sense, and while it frequently conflicts with what the world actually is (Like “Humans would never have slaves!”), he accepts as truth when it is shown to be wrong.

So that, combined with the more medieval kind of thinking this series seems to have, where it was far more usual to have arranged marriages where love would come later (if at all), they basically arranged their own marriage, and are now realizing how much they like each other. I hope the speed of this continues, but it probably won’t. But from a ‘realism’ standpoint, I think it’s funny that people accept demons, teleport gates, and mages, but balk at two people falling in love quickly after meeting. 🙂

    • Foshizzel says:

I am still 50/50 on Maoyuu right now, I mean sure it is fun and all but I find myself getting bored halfway through the episode…hopefully it picks up in the 3rd episode? I have to watch it sometime.

I liked those moments with the head maid and the slaves because hey I kind of figured they wouldn’t kick them out of the house! Also Maou is a interesting teacher xD

Romance is fine I don’t mind their relationship because I like the interactions between them…now bring on some fighting and monster stuffs if there even is any of that >.<

  10. HannoX says:

Vividred Operation They have to dock by kissing? Does this mean they’ll be shipping together? A fun series so far and there’s nothing wrong with some mindless entertainment as long as it is entertaining, which this is. Rei’s motivation will be interesting to see. I can think of one quick idea why someone would want to introduce war into an idyllic world. The idea that without struggle (though it doesn’t have to be war) society will come to stagnate and slowly decline and eventually most will be worse off. But the same thing could be accomplished by a major goal that society as a whole has to work towards, such as colonizing space.

Maoyuu I liked the stuff about Medieval economics and the 4 crop rotation system. And the Hero realizing his only skill is fighting and what will he do if there’s no war is a good bit. Many long term soldiers who become too accustomed to war have to face that question when the war ends. However, I’m sure the Hero will have to fight again.

    • lvlln says:

I think Akane and Aoi were going to be shipped together by rabid fans regardless of what happened. The Docking sure pushes it hard with all the “We’ve become one” talk, though. Hope the show isn’t shy about using it, and we see it with the antagonistic magical girl.

  11. Overcooled says:

Maoyuu – Needs more economics and less romance. The transition from total strangers into a lovey-dovey couple was so sudden that I can’t take anything they do seriously at all.

Senran Kagura – I thought of Naruto with the frogs and summons too! Anyways, this show is still as fun as ever. I can’t wait to see all of the villain ninjas and what powers they have. Oh, and outfits. Gotta love those ridiculous, barely concealing outfits.

Vividred – Everything about this is a textbook example of a magical girl show, aside from the combination thing. I have a lot of questions about how it will work with the other girls as well. As long as they’re good friends, it would work, right? So technically could the green and yellow girls combine?

I hope if they all combine, their ages add up and it makes a middle-aged lady =w=

    • Highway says:

I still think it’s hilarious that Katsuragi’s Shinobi Henshin is getting a pair of moon boots and unbuttoning her shirt. It gets even funnier thinking about it with the explanation of what the Shinobi Battle outfit means.

    • Highway says:

      And Operation Vivid Obaa-san!

      “OBAA-san?!?! O-NE-E-SAN!”

    • Foshizzel says:

Maoyuu: Yep more economics for some and less romance for a few of us sounds like a plan to me, but I have to say that I am into the characters hanging out…or give us some action? Yes please.

Senran Kagura: High five OC! Now we have to wait and see if she has a frog sage mode like BB said…oh the villains make me laugh I can’t wait to see a serious fight.

Vividred: I was talking to Lvlln about that! If Akane and Aoi fuse and then the other girls fuse into one can those two combine into one woman? SO MUCH POWER! I guess they need more friendship for that to happen…LOL OLD WOMAN MODE…OH GOD they can use a walker as a weapon xDD

    • Karakuri says:

It would still be the most moe middle-aged lady the world has ever seen. :3

  12. skylion says:

Maoyuu: I am a huge fan of European/Resource Manager board games, from the simple Settlers of Cataan and Carcasonne , up to the variations of Agricola. And this show always hits me with that vibe. Anime of Cataan? Well, when you deal in sheep, ore, timber, clay, and wheat as commodities, the old joke goes (when trading commodities) “So, do you have wood for sheep?”

    So, do you have wood?

  13. skylion says:

Spammy keeps up with me, even after not being around here for what seems like weeks. Anyway….

Vividred: Loli Hammer Time. Oh, I am so ready! This show keeps looking up my address, and it keeps finding me at home. Seriously, this show pretty much has all my anime nutrients in one go. Moe character design? Check! Dat ASS? Checkarusky! Weird Science!? You bet! Slice of Life? Little bit, no much, but little bit. Troperific Flashback Scene? Yes, and I love it for it. Talking is a free action, baby! I was laughing so much watching this show cause it did everything by the book and did it with flying colours. I got episode three queued up right now. What the heck am I doing talking about it now?!

  14. skylion says:

Oppai Shinobi: Needs more Bunny Suits. I’m not joking. Contact the staff…..

  15. skylion says:

Sakurasou: Wow. Too much to tabulate. Loving how much effort the staff is putting into the show. I fully expected it too start grinding by now; as many two cour rom/coms often do. They all can’t be the awesome that is ToraDora, but this is coming in so close.

    • Karakuri says:

The second half just isn’t bringing me the same warm fuzzies that the first one did, but we’ve entered perpetual love triangle territory. As long as they bring back the feel-good scenes later, I’ll be happy again. …But yeah, Sakurasou has been continually strong so far. I hope they can keep this up until the end~
