Nice to see you on Sakurasou, Karakuri. I thought they did it again with the ‘finale’ that’s not a series finale. This show does arc finales better than most shows do series finales.

I liked the ‘half-failure’ that they had Sorata suffer through this time. Unlike his crash and burn at the interview, this one was more “big success except for one huge roadblock” that was averted with some help from some plants. It still showed a weakness of his in game design, but that he’s getting closer to having the whole thing together. I bet he still doesn’t have an answer for the question that Fujisawa proposed at the interview that stymied him, but he’s getting closer.

And Nanami with the roller coaster of emotions this episode. She did great as the audience leader in the show, but was left twisting in the wind when they balked at the last part. Luckily she didn’t break down, kept at it, and they came back to her. Then she hears Sorata yell to Mashiro, and then later she even encourages him to talk about what he really feels for Mashiro, even as she knows it’s counter to her interests. And *then* as she’s trying to help her rival and the boy she’s interested in, she gets confessed to by Miyahara! I had thought they’d have Miyahara step up closer to the end of the series to try to help Nanami with her heartbreak over Sorata when he finally admits he wants to be a couple with Mashiro, but having him come forward now was pretty surprising. Maybe it’ll give her the time to think about it and change her focus. Until then, tho, poor Miyahara is gonna be crushed.

Again, I’m kind of worried where the show will go, and whether it can keep this up, but I was worried after episode 4, and it’s just gotten better from there (despite the wailings of the Yuuko haters).

    • Karakuri says:

Yeah no kidding. If theres one thing I’ve noticed, it’s that this show handles emotions really well (or at least it plays with my emotions pretty damn well). All of the arcs have been good for a decent amount of struggling followed by an ending that makes it worthwhile. Or at least that’s why I’m enjoying the show so much. The stumbling makes the recovery feel so much better.

I feel kind of bad for Mihara at the moment, but hopefully he helps Nanami get over Sorata in some form (I’m personally hoping for the couple route). Nanami isn’t doing very well either considering how she’s helping Sorata and Mashiro so much. I’m sure there’s going to be some form of heartbreak with Nanami, but I’m glad that the plot has Mihara there. It would just be too depressing if Nanami was just left forgotten at the end of everything. Especially since she’s such a great source of support for Sorata and Mashiro.

Judging from how episodes 1-12 went, I don’t think you have to worry too much about the direction. …Though who knows with the characters moving into couple territory.

OniiAi – 12 [END] : The ending was bland for my expectations because there wasn’t much of anything worthy of being noted. Hopefully there will be another season now that we know Akito and Akiko aren’t blood related. The incest element was a lie!! How dare they do that!! It’s amazing how Akito can lie to Akiko’s face without a care.

This was a good show nonetheless and I’m going to miss the characters, especially the hot bisexual pervert Arashi. She was a riot. Arisa has moved up on my favorites list. Sleeping naked with Akito? Damn that lucky bastard.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I agree the ending was really lame and the reveal that Akito and Akiko are not related? WHAT? Why would they do that! They should have saved that for the start of s2 or reveal it in the middle? Still we get to see how long Akito plans on holding out before she finds ou xD

Arashi! Still the best girl, but Arisa surprised me at the end…you always gotta watch out for the really quiet girls ;P

      • Highway says:

Yeah, I was disappointed with the story cop-out. Keep them related! But Akito won’t tell her the truth for both of their sake, because I think he would not have any excuses to not hop into bed with her either.

        • BlackBriar says:

That little secret is the only leverage he has. Once that goes out the window, there’s no telling what Akiko would do to get in bed with him. In anime, girls with uncontrolable lust are capable of anything. They would even approve of bondage if it helps catch their guy.

        • Foshizzel says:

@Highway: Yeppers! Truly a sad turn of events for the whole Akito/Akiko pairing, but you are right he probably isn’t going to tell her the truth just yet and it reminds me of the whole Momo x Rito thing with her always sneaking into his room?

@BB: Yes anime girls are craazzzyyyyy~

  3. BlackBriar says:

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – 12: Good to see you on MetaFap again, Karakuri and it’s nice that you’re taking over Sakurasou. The show is still going strong but I’m beginning to wonder where things are going to go from.

Nanami got over her self consciousness rather quickly. With so much uncertainty in herself in the earlier episodes, I was expecting some pauses during her acting on stage. She did it so well like it was never a problem. Now that obstacle is out of the way so, when will she get that same courage to confess to Sorata?

The presentation was the perfect setting for confessions and surprising Mashiro shouting out her lungs like that to jump start the audience. There are a lot of near finalized shippings but what I want to see most is Rita and that hime cut tsundere Ryuunosuke. The fact that he even considered giving her an e-mail and that he wasn’t acting much like an ass as usual means he’s beginning to open up to her. That kiss surely had him stunned.

    • Karakuri says:

I’m sure she’ll have to confess before she moves on, but hopefully Nanami isn’t hit too hard by Sorata rejecting her. …If he does. He and Mashiro are pretty obviously being set up by the plot, but they might surprise us.

Mashiro starting the whole thing was a good move. I’m just surprised it wasn’t Misaki or whatever the senpai’s name is. I suppose Mashiro doing it is more emotional. Personally, I was expecting Sorata to be doing the shouting. Ahaha Ryuunosuke and Rita have been the highlight of the past two episodes for me. …Even if I was half convinced that Ryuunosuke was a trap at first (and then even more so when we actually saw his appearance).

To Love-Ru Darkness – 11: The MetaFap spaces are going to be vacant but right now, they’re doing what they can to entertain us. This was serious compared to the other episodes and the show is on its way out. I want to see what Mea’s master looks like before it ends and hopefully, I’ll get the chance.

Yami doesn’t want to admit it, but she’s obviously forgiven Tearju for her disappearance if she says she’s happy to see her. If only she didn’t use other people to express her concerns like asking Momo to watch over Tearju instead of herself.

I didn’t believe what Mea said about simply wanting to know what kind of person Tearju is. She was stalking her with murderous intent especially that part with her turning the tip of her ponytail into a blade. Yami and Mea look sexier in their clothes as assassins than in their school uniforms.

    • Foshizzel says:

Sad but true with OniiAi ending it will pretty much be Sakuraso and Darkness left over and yeah I think we might see Mea’s master before the season wraps up, but I don’t have any hopes for a season two…well those blrys should help since they are uncensored xD

Right Yami is probably really happy to see Tearju, but she just doesn’t know how to express that feeling right now! I wouldn’t mind seeing Yami like her old self one day even though it would be a little strange…

I know right? Assassin clothes > school clothes any day!

    • Highway says:

I’m sure something will step up to fill the void of MetaFap. That type of show is eternal!

  5. Jrow says:

Thanks Karakuri for taking over for me (and also Fosh). I can now sail happily into writing retirement, haha…

Nice ep. of Sakurasou, and a fun way to put Sorata in a tough situation and have Mashiro help him out of it.

    • Foshizzel says:

Welcome! I hope Metafap didn’t break your desire to write for these posts lol…

      • BlackBriar says:

That’s not likely. If I remember correctly, Jrow has a thing for ecchi so writing posts for MetaFap is a perfect fit.

@Jrow: Don’t stop making these posts!!!

        • Foshizzel says:

Oh we wont stop doing these posts! Just expect to see it miissing in action for a while on Metanorn until we find ecchi anime to add ;D

          • Jrow says:

I’ll still be helping Fosh out with header images and probably some other image stuff (we should show off blu-rays for Darkness and OniiAi). Senran Kagura should promise to be a fit for Fap.

To give a little teaser, I’m focusing more on the MetaVerse podcast and plan on trying out a new format for next year while also putting the podcast out more frequently than it did in 2012.

    • Karakuri says:

..I just had a weird image of you as an old man sitting on a porch in California or something. Er, anyways, have fun with your writing retirement.

Yes, it was a good stumble and recovery. I’m really happy things worked out overall in the episode for Sorata.

  6. Highway says:

OniAi: The show kind of devolved in the second half of the series into just a bunch of kind of related skits. Not that they were bad, but it kind of lost the overall pressure and tension that it had through the first part, both between Akito and all the girls, and between the girls themselves. It was still enjoyable, but a bit of a letdown.

Since they made that reveal (which I’d spoiled myself on back at the beginning of the series, so I wasn’t surprised, stupid wikipedia), I don’t think they’ll bother with a second season, same as Who is Imouto? The show loses a very specific tension with that, and just turns into a plain old harem show.

As for the deal with Ana, I thought it was kind of nice to see her backstory, and that she actually holds dear feelings for Akiko and Akito deep insider her. That was a lot better than Ginbei’s completely boring backstory with Akito.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah they were alright I wasn’t personally a fan of the whole “flashback near the end” theme they kept pushing on us like Anna meeting Akito? Why show us now? Does it really effect the story? NOOPPEEE Well…story is a long shot for OniiAi hahahah

They might be able to pull off another season if they throw in more characters or something? With the reveal of Akito/Akiko not being related it kind of kills the whole idea, but whatever they can just throw in a real sibling and surprise us? I dunno maybe.

Yep! Ginbei < Anna in terms of backstory.

  7. Highway says:

TLR: Darkness – This only has one more episode? It’s gotta be some split series like Rinne no Lagrange, right? Cause they can’t wrap up anything in just one more episode. I’m not quite sure what the point of Tearju coming around is, besides humanizing Yami even more, but it’s not like she needed more of a push. She was doing fine on her own.

The OVA was kinda meh, with far too much time spent on Rito’s personality change to be an overt pervert rather than an accidental pervert.

So far, I’ve found the BD’s for Darkness to be worth watching, because there’s actually a story to rewatch. Unlike the Who is Imouto? BD’s, where the only reason to watch them is seeing Konoe’s nipples, and suffer through that inane story again.

    • Foshizzel says:

Nope just one more episode! I dunno if it will get a s2? I guess it all depends on Blray sales? The manga is currently a few chapters ahead so I dunno if we will ever see Darkness s2? I assume they have to wait for the manga to get more chapters because it only updates every other month.

OVA was hilarious for me but I already saw that in the manga, but Rito turning on his ultimate perv mode was so damn funny! Then again it is just mindless boobs and fanservice…

      LOLOL True xD

  8. Highway says:

I did want to note that I think Darkness did a good job inverting the whole harem genre, with Momo overtly trying to put a harem together out of all the girls who like Rito, and Rito being (mostly) aware of all the girls who like him. I do think it’s a bit weird that he supposedly likes Haruna so much, yet at best she’s a distant character in this whole series, maybe showing up once an episode, and never doing anything important. For someone Rito likes so much, he makes zero effort to see her, do anything with her, or pay any attention to her. But then, there’s a lot of characters in the show, and they gotta fit them all in around the story somehow.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I think so too highway I mean you don’t really see any harem show coming out and saying “we are a harem” most of the time it is just keep it hidden like most series with 2 dudes and the rest are just random love struck girls falling for the main character just like SAO…and Momo is like Rito! WE ARE MAKING A HAREM!

Yeah that is the original theme with the first darkness with Rito having feelings only for Haruna, but insert Lala to the mixture and it threw everything out of whack for his personal life…not to mention all the other alien girls and other humans that are popping up in Darkness!

And like you said Rito makes zero effort to actually get with Haruna…

      Momo is the best <3
