Oh no! Akito has caught a cold which means he has to deal with the girls taking care of him? What is a main character to do in this time of crisis? For starters all the girls have a mini argument over who is better suited to take care of him. I think they should have just fought it out and the winner gets to play nurse for Akito. That would work since almost every girl in this series enjoys a bit of cosplay fun? I was quite surprised that Arashi did not participate in the grand quest to cure Akito? I wonder what she was doing during all this nurse stuff. So which girl would you want taking care of you? Akiko was actually quite nice minus all the incest talk and Arisa who prepared all that good food, but I don’t think anyone could eat everything she cooked. Anna on the other hand was making things a lot worse because she kept on waking him up over and over again! ‘Course I figured that she should wait for him to pass out before putting the moves on him? Then again he was sick…so…yeah…also one last thing to mention Ginbei and her odd ability to communicate with cats because damn that was quite cute at the start of the episode.

Jrow is out this week as he’s on vacation for a few days so you are stuck with me Muhahahah! Now I love this series a whole bunch because the cast of characters always keep me entertained every week. So what is going on this week for the cast of Sakurasou? At the start we had Shiina and Misaki painting on the walls in Sorata’s bedroom. I want those girls to paint on my walls…and the story behind those cat drawings? I guess you should watch the ending because the nya-mech-thing is in the video. Other than that crazy start the main focus this week brings in a new character appearance from the busty and English speaking Rita Einswoltz (voiced by Ayako Kawasumi Saber from Fate/Zero) who was basically Shiina’s roommate from England. So why has this girl suddenly popped up? Well she wants to bring her friend back to the world of painting because she doesn’t understand much about the manga artist world! So what do you think Rita is right to bring Shiina back to England with her? I know she could probably a better living off her paintings, but in the end I have a good idea if she does accept and leave Sakurasou house “Stupid Sorata” will realize he really likes her and follow. Besides all that random drama stuff we finally got to see the mysterious computer programmer Ryuunosuke Akasaka (voiced by Yui Horie? Wait what?) he looks like a girl I swear…oh and Festival time next week I am curious to see how this “anime” works for them as a club idea.

Yes! To Love Ru Darkness is back from a week’s break but Fans of Mikan will be quite pleased because she is the main focus of this episode. So what is going on with Rito’s moe moe little sister? Lately she keeps on walking in on Momo and her brother who are usually playing some half-dressed twister with each other every morning! I know some guys have all the luck huh? Mikan feels as if she isn’t needed anymore thanks to all the other girls taking care of him especially Momo; however, after suffering from a case of heat stroke leaving Rin Koujou to help her out and later on listens to Mikan’s stories about how her brother used to worry about her all the time when they were younger which kind of changes Rin’s view on Rito even though just last episode he tripped and groped her…damn it bro! Stop doing that! Other than that bit of side story fun with Mikan we had some romantic feelings stuff with Yui Kotegawa who I always thought was a good possible pairing for Rito.

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

Sorata no baka.
Is Mashiro a great artist? Most definitely. Does that mean that she *has* to be a painter? Not to my self-determinist sensibilities. To me, great artists are like cats (an analogy almost too convenient for this show). Try to make a cat do something. Go ahead, I’ll wait (ha!). It will resent you, and likely won’t do the thing you want it to do. But when it wants to do something, nothing will sway its attention. Mashiro is still painting, that’s what she’s doing when Sorata texts her. Doing mangas doesn’t take her away from painting at all. Forcing her to do painting and taking away what’s inspiring her now might be more harmful.
Another thing someone pointed out in a comment somewhere is that all of Mashiro’s paintings are of things. Flowers, scenery, landscapes. Items. Her manga is about people, a subject that she doesn’t understand but has seemed desperate to learn, mostly with Sorata. Perfectly natural.
The other thing that really struck me about this episode was the progress that Sorata made personally into the ‘talented’ group. At the beginning of the series, if they had come up with something like that festival game / anime thing, Sorata would have relegated himself to the sidelines, claiming that he had no talent, he was not special, that he was just the worker bee. But now, he contributes, he suggests, and he actually drives a lot of the process. And the support he receives from the others is amazing, a reciprocal recognition of a talent that was buried within him that he had subsumed due to lack of confidence in trying to shine next to all these bright lights. But he does have talent at game design, because otherwise Akasaka wouldn’t have said so, he wouldn’t have advanced to the interview stage in the game design contest, etc. It was really nice to see, and a well done scene.

Yeah Mashiro is a great artist and yeah she doesn’t really HAVE to be an artist, but I get the impression that she sort of NEEDS someone there to push her in the right direction? Then again that is why Sorta is around right? Yeah I would hate to see Mashiro forced to paint instead of doing her manga >.< Ooooh wow that is interesting and damn it totally works~ Agreed it has been wonderful to watch Sorata grow as a character and like you said at the start he always claimed to be un-talented...I can't wait to see how the game/anime project works out xDD

Mashiro doesn’t HAVE to be a fine artist, but why can’t she do both fine art AND manga? So far no one in the anime seems to have realized that. Switching between one and the other can help her from going stale if she only did one, plus that can help her do better at BOTH.
However, she should do whichever one (or both) she wants. Trying to force her in a direction she doesn’t want to go is about the quickest way there is to destroy her talent.

It’s pretty obvious that there was something artistic between Rita and Mashiro. Rita did say that she had been ‘broken’ by Mashiro, and it implied that soon after that was when Mashiro came to Japan.

OniiAi – 09: This guy gets sick and he has a bunch of girls waiting on him, hand and foot and fighting over who should take care of him. Damn the good fortune of these harem leads. It’s a shame most of them are hopelessly oblivious to how good they all have it. For example: Infinite Stratos’s Ichika is so similar to Akito that it’s frightening.
Usually Arashi is the one that blows things out of proportion with her suggestions but this time, the roles have been reversed. She was actually the calm, level-headed one bringing up the idea about shifts and the other girls only saw fit to turn it into a needless competition to put the other one down. Nothing better than a good cat fight.
Can someone please explain to me that strange phenomenon that happens in anime? The subject that Jinno brought up when she sneezed during her meeting. Whenever a certain number of characters are having a conversation about someone, the person of interest who is miles away suddenly sneezes and wonders if there are people talking about them.

I think Orimura Ichika is in a completely different class as the most useless, clueless harem lead ever (and the LN’s translations I’ve read back that up). Ichika doesn’t ever figure out that any of the girls are interested in him, he never figures out how much he likes Houki, and just blunders from situation to situation while the girls (particularly Charlotte) try to clue him in as to what’s going on.
Akito is so different because he realizes completely what’s going on, and he’s not buying it. He knows all the girls are after him, and has from the beginning. He’s certainly not clueless. He just is not going to get involved with any of them, because who knows what bad things would happen then? Maybe a lot of his hesitation is that he hopes Akiko will grow out of it, and then he can move on without hurting her.
The sneeze thing is a superstition, just like saying “We’re talking about that guy, his ears must be burning.” Basically, when other people talk about you, you sneeze because them talking about you has some sort of supernatural effect.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – 09: I knew the classmates were going to get that impression the way Miyahara was poorly defending Nanami and Sorata and the way he was holding Sorata’s head. This is Japan we’re talking about and I’m sure all the girls in the class are closet yaoi lovers. Hell, Nanami turned on him in an instant and started her obscure fantasies.
Mashiro returning the art world isn’t such a bad idea after seeing the painting, she has true talent but Rita is trying to convince her in the wrong way. It’s actually purely selfish because she’s forcing Mashiro to go back because she doesn’t understand the manga artist world. It’s not Mashiro’s problem if she doesn’t understand. The choice was never was hers so Rita has no right twisting her arm.
Oh great, the mysterious cyber hermit is a trap character. Ryuunosuke looked and sounded so much like a girl that it’s hard to accept him as a guy. It’s the same situation as that kid who hung around Zabuza, Haku from Naruto. Right now, I’m not impressed with him. Introducing him with a superiority complex is a sour way to start things off and he came onto the scene with a high horse attitude.

People are all like “He’s definitely a guy, he just has long hair.” And I’m thinking “there’s ‘long hair’ and then there’s a guy with a *Hime Cut!!!*” If anyone’s a reverse trap, it’s him.
To be honest, tho, I don’t really see what the point of bringing Ryuunosuke out of his room… ever… is. He works well as a shut-in advisor / antagonist of Sorata’s. As an active character, he’s a distraction / time sink. Maybe they’ll do something with him that justifies him emerging, but I don’t really see what that could be.

First sunbeam glare censors, now black bar censors. When will it all end? I’m in disbelief!!! Rito was taking the lead with the perversion, although unconscious, and it’s Momo that stops him from giving a kiss. The laws of anime have just been shattered into little pieces.
Rito is the ultimate harem lead. So many shipping possibilities with so many girls, especially with the tsundere Yui. Dude, stop rubbing your inexplicable success in our faces!! With the way Mikan sees Rito, it’s become more that love for a sibling. It’s gone to the possible incest route but half of me doubts that because of her personality. She’s nothing like OniiAi’s Akiko.

Mikan is drawn towards Rito in a romantic way to a certain degree, but she has been fighting those feelings off. Even when she was under the influence of the flower she was able to resist until the very end. And it’s possible her conversation with Rin will start moving her away from those romantic feelings. Rin has pointed out that her feelings are centered on the fact that for so long she depended upon Rito and the two of them were alone because their parents are always gone. Now Mikan is realizing that they are bound to start moving apart as they approach adulthood and now other girls are entering his life and doing for him the things she used to do.
However, given To Love-Ru’s past and the way it’s going, if it ever gets that far I predict Mikan will at least be a nominal member of the harem, though there might be no romantic relationship between her and Rito. But between Mikan and other harem members Yumi and Rin…
